Is It True: Strawberry Kisses by Marianne Rice @mariannericeaut #contemporary #RLFblog

    Play Is It True
with today’s guest Marianne Rice, author of Strawberry Kisses, a contemporary
romance. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can
elaborate on answers as much as they choose.
    First, tell us about
    your book.
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Rachael Riley is back home in Rocky Harbor, but she’s not
the same woman she once was…
After being rescued from an abusive relationship, Rachael is
nothing more than a shadow of her true self. The only place she manages to find
some degree of comfort is in the kitchen, hiding behind her apron as she
continues to shut everyone out. Her foster sister knows that the real Rachael
has been broken and reaches out by signing her up for self-defense classes with
the hope of getting her outgoing, confident and nosey older sister back.
Jake Morgan has done more than his time and is finally free
    of his past…
Teaching self-defense is Jake’s way of giving back,
compensating for what has been taken away from him years ago. He’s well aware
that most women in his class have a backstory, and avoids getting emotionally
involved by keeping his distance—until a beautiful, blue-eyed woman walks in.
Jake is instantly drawn to Rachael and sees the inner confidence she tries to
hide behind her blonde bangs and hunched shoulders.
Wanting to know the story hidden behind those blue eyes,
Jake sets out to break down every barrier Rachael has built…
As Jake helps Rachael find the strength she once had, a
secret of his past is revealed and threatens to ruin the safety they have found
in each other. There’s more connecting them than just their mutual attraction.
Once their pasts finally collide, revealing a devastating truth, Jake’s
feelings and commitment toward Rachael is put to the ultimate test.
There is no guarantee when it comes to love, but sometimes
all a broken heart needs to heal is sweet strawberry kisses…
    Now, tell us Yes or
No for each answer below. Feel free to explain any (or none) of your answers.

    Is it true:

    this is your first
    book?
Nope! Strawberry Kisses is my ninth book!
this book is part of a series?
Yes, it’s book two in my Rocky Harbor series, but all books in the series
    are standalone.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Nope. I love sleep too much to ever
    go without.
you did research for this book?
Yes, a little. I researched pictures of hot guys (so I’d have a visual for
hunky Jake Morgan), lots of strawberry recipes, and the ins and outs of
    self-defense training.
some characters in this book are not
    human? (pets for example)
No puppies in this one, but there is a dog in the first book, Staying
Grounded, and the next book Wounded Love that comes out May 2nd.
this book has more than one genre?
No. It’s contemporary romance. However, there are elements of women’s
    fiction. So maybe…romantic women’s fiction?
you speak more than one language?
Only if you count crazy lady.
you grew up where you live now?
Far from it! I grew up in southern California and now live in Maine.
    you love to read?
    YES!!!
    you are never late?
YES!!! Even being five minutes early makes me nervous. I’m always, always,
    always early.
    you love pizza?
    Who doesn’t?
    you love sushi?
I’ve never had it. The idea of raw fish is not appealing to me.
    you have a pet?
If you count three kids. Hubby is allergic to all animals, even to
    hypo-allergenic breeds.
    Where can we find
    your book online?

    Dark Thoughts by Cynthia Sax @CynthiaSax #RLFblog #SciFi #Romance

Welcome Cynthia Sax author of Dark Thoughts, a new SciFi
    Romance.
    Why did you write
    this book?
When I first met Kralj, the hero of Dark Thoughts, during
Chasing Mayhem, I knew I had to write his story. Kralj is Ruler of the Refuge,
a settlement that many of the most violent beings in the universe call home. He
can read minds, can control beings with his thoughts and has a very dark
beast-like side of him. He EATS his enemies. Yeah, he goes there.
I only write romance so, of course, that got me thinking, “What
type of female would love a male like that?” Dita, a pint-sized assassin,
is as unique as Kralj is. She is as strong as he is yet has a cheerfulness that
    offsets his grim demeanor.
Note: Dark Thoughts is a standalone. It is not necessary to
    read Chasing Mayhem first.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
I love all sorts of romance. Give me a happy romantic
ending! I gobble that up. I read everything from sexy Regency Dukes to
tormented half man, half machine cyborg warriors.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
In the SciFi Romance space, I really like Ral, the Zorn
warrior in Laurann Dohner’s Ral’s Woman. That was my first Laurann Dohner story
and I loved it. Ral is an awesome beastly hero. Beauty and the Beast is my
favorite romance premise. If there’s beast in the book description, the writer
    has me.
    What are you working
    on at the moment?
I’m writing the follow up story to Dark Thoughts (releasing
in July). The hero will be Orol, Kralj’s winged second-in-command. He has been
given a solo mission. His heroine, of course, isn’t cooperating with that
mission. (grins) It is never easy for our heroes, is it?
    What books will we see
    from you in coming months?
Ghost Of A Machine, my next standalone cyborg romance, will
be releasing in May. He’s a severely damaged hero and has earned his happy ever
    after.
The next story in the Dark Thoughts series will be releasing
    in July.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
    Genre Sci Fi Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
    Can love redeem a monster?
The Refuge is home to some of the most violent beings in the
universe. Kralj, its leader, reigns over the remote outpost with terrifying
ease, ruthlessly squashing any rumors of rebellion, killing anyone who breaks
his rules. Primitive, deadly, powerful, he’s a monster, scarred both on his
face and his soul. He has never met a being he couldn’t control.
    Until he meets her.
Dita has one mission—to kill the three targets claiming
sanctuary within the Refuge. Or so she claims. For the first time in his long
lifespan, Kralj isn’t certain of another being’s intentions. The tiny assassin
is immune to his powers, her thoughts unreadable. He can’t predict her
movements, can’t control her, can’t stop wanting her.
Dita is rare, as unique as he is, and, to keep the residents
of the Refuge safe, Kralj will have to kill her. But first, he’ll touch her,
taste her, show her how passionate the beast inside him can be.
Dark Thoughts is a STAND-ALONE SciFi Romance.
The hero might be tall, dark, and scarred but don’t be
    fooled by his appearance.
    He’s truly a monster.
This story is not for readers with delicate sensibilities.
