Read Sannah, a Stone Age romance by Miriam Newman @miriamnewman #RLFblog #NewRelease # ancient times historical fiction #romanceTaken from her Stone Age camp by a man who is both warrior and shaman, Sannah must find a way to survive in the historical fiction romance, Sannah, by Miriam Newman.

Miriam, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Sannah.

    Sannah by Miriam Newman

    Genre ancient times historical romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Taken captive in a raid on her Stone Age camp, Sannah is abducted by a man who is both warrior and shaman. Memmet believes she was given to him by the spirits and will keep her at any cost.

Why did you write this book?

After writing historical romance set in 1066 at the time of the Norman Conquest of England, I was looking for a little different period in history to explore. And, wow, did my muse respond—all the way back to the Stone Age.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Romance, definitely. Historical and fantasy are my two favorites, and if they are combined, so much the better!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

King Arthur was always a definite favorite.

What are you working on at the moment?

My historical fantasy trilogy, The Chronicles of Alicia, has just reverted to me and I am assembling it into an ebook and print bundle for readers both old and new.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Aside from my trilogy, next year should see the release of two historical romances, Flame of Normandy and Clothilde. They are the prequel and sequel to my book The Comet, but can be easily read as standalone novels. Both go back to possibly my favorite time period, the Norman Conquest.

Fantasy poetry driven by myths and legends has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I was published in poetry before catching the romance writing bug. I bring that background to my writing along with a lifelong addiction to horses, an 18 year career in various areas of psychiatric social services and many trips to Ireland, where I nurture my muse. My published works range from contemporary fantasy romance to fantasy historical, futuristic, science fiction and historical romance. Currently I live in rural Pennsylvania with a “motley crew” of rescue animals.

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To compensate for this illogical error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a tiny office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their dog and two rescued indoor cats as well as providing nourishment outdoors for squirrels, birds, and other critters.

The over fifty titles she has created in her pink cave have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards. She writes sweet to sensual romances about the West, both historical and contemporary as well as time travel and mystery. Her series include the Kincaids, McClintocks, Stone Mountain Texas, Bride Brigade, Texas Time Travel, Texas Caprock Tales, Loving A Rancher, and Pearson Grove as well as numerous single titles and contributions to multi-author sets. Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O’Ryan by Dee S Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #historical #romance

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O'Ryan by Dee S. Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #historical #romance 1872 Oregon. In Dee S. Knight’s mĂ©nage a trois, two unusual men share widow Regan O’Ryan, promising her that in the West, dreams–and especially fantasies–can come true. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O’Ryan by Dee S Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart

    Genre Historical ménage romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Joining in the westward migration, Davey and Regan O’Ryan Stone bought an Oregon farm sight unseen, hungering for adventure. Davey regretted the impulse far past the point of no return, and then he died. Now, unskilled and alone on her farm, Regan fears going home a failure–as a daughter, a wife and a farmer. With money quickly running out, she gladly accepts the offer of help from Seth Pratt, an acquaintance from the wagon train, and his friend Haywood Lawrence.

One-armed Seth seeks work at the remote farm at the end of an Oregon trail with low expectations. When he finds Regan, alone and widowed, he tamps down desire. She deserves better than a man handicapped in war, searching for his soul. She’s worthy of someone like his Shakespeare-spouting, best friend, Hay. Nothing could have prepared Seth for Regan’s simple solution–that both men stay. On the farm and in her bed.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes–in two sub-genre. Jenna Stewart is the name I use for mĂ©nage books (with the exception of two space opera mĂ©nage books, as Dee). As Jenna, I write historical and shifter mĂ©nage romance.

How do you come up with ideas?

I had the idea for the Sisters O’Ryan books (four of them), just kind of overnight. It felt like no real thought at all. Not sure where the idea came from, exactly. But another book I’d thought about for years was also historical. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a nun in the worst way. My mom worked in a Catholic hospital and I was around nuns a great deal and I admired them. Back in the 1950s, nuns were very different from what we see today, so I wondered about a nun who joined the convent and was content–until she went home to Oregon to empty her mother’s house after her death. There she discovers secrets that have affected her whole life, and desire such as she’d never imagined. She was no longer content. After the passion she experienced, could she return to the convent? My publisher called it Seducing Their Nun–a title I’ve always hated. I wanted to call it Sins of the Mother, and if you give the book a try, you’ll understand why. I know people who have said they wouldn’t read the book because it was disrespectful to the church, but I promise, it isn’t! Anyway, from that book, I created a series of historical mĂ©nage romances that were connected by one character in the previous book–like six degrees of separation. The shifter books came about as a lark, just to see if I could do it.

I like ménage romance because it demonstrates that a woman can indeed love two men at the same time. However (sigh), I also think it takes very unusual people to maintain such a relationship. Not too many of them around.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Creating an idea that will appeal to readers. And it also has to appeal to me as a writer. I have lots of ideas I think would work for a book but I don’t believe in the concept I would have to write or I simply don’t understand it, so I can’t possibly write it. I want to create work that people like and I would like to read myself.

When did you write your first book?

Gosh! It makes me feel old. As Dee, I wrote Impatient Passion in 2002. I wrote Burning Bridges (as Anne Krist) in 2005. As Jenna, I wrote Regan in 2012. You see it took me a while to come around to focusing on ménage!

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather

    Black or red? Red, definitely

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I know satin sheets have their problems, but what’s sexier than watching a satin sheet slip-slide off a naked body?

    Ocean or mountains? Ocean

City life or country life? City

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home, with my guys doing very naughty things

Dogs or cats? Both. I love watching their interactions

Shot Through the Heart by Andrea Downing @AndiDowning #RLFblog #historicalwesternromanceCan you have revenge on your mind when you’ve been Shot Through the Heart? In Andrea Downing’s new historical western romance, he wants to kill his sister’s murderers, she wants to help and heal the sick. Will it be trouble or love that finds them first?

Andrea, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Shot Through the Heart.

Shot Through the Heart by Andrea Downing

    Genre historical western romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Gunslinger Shiloh Coltrane has returned home to work the family’s Wyoming ranch, only to find there’s still violence ahead. His sister and nephew have been murdered, and the killers are at large.

Dr. Sydney Cantrell has come west to start her medical practice, aiming to treat the people of a small town. As she tries to help and heal, she finds disapproval and cruelty the payment in kind.

When the two meet, it’s an attraction of opposites. As Shiloh seeks revenge, Sydney seeks to do what’s right. Each wants a new life, but will trouble or love find them first?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

I write both historical and contemporary romance and women’s fiction, but so far all my books take place in the west. I’ve been using Wyoming fairly frequently as my setting as that’s where I live part-year (pandemics permitting!)

How do you come up with ideas?

Numerous different ways! My last book, Always on My Mind, devolved from an actual fight between cowboys and hippies at my local dancehall in the ’70s; Loveland came out of something I read about British aristocrats starting big cattle companies in the west. Shot Through the Heart started with the hero’s name, taken off my Cowboy calendar. Somewhere out there, there’s a real hero!

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Character and conflict. Without really good characters, you have a very flat story, and without the conflict you have no story!

When did you write your first book?

Like most authors, that one is hidden away; mine is in boxes. It was written in the ’90s but I didn’t publish anything until 2012.

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather—cowhide!

Black or red? Black. A gypsy once told me I’d die if I drove a red car so I avoid red.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton—I hate satin or silk sheets. Too slippery.

Ocean or mountains? Mountains, though I’m lucky enough to live near each part-year.

City life or country life? Country, of course.

Party life or evening at home? Can I have both?

Dogs or cats? Horses please? Okay, dogs if I must take one of those.

Read the series: Lord of Her Heart by Gail Eastwood @GEastwoodAuthor #RLFblog #RegencyRomance #ReadARegencyIn Lord of Her Heart, Book One of Gail Eastwood’s new Regency series Tales of Little Macclow, long-parted friends get a new chance for love–or do they?

Gail, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your series.

Lord of Her Heart, Book One in the Tales of Little Macclow series

    Genre: “sweet” Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Gail Eastwood launches a new Regency series with Lord of Her Heart

An unexpected return. A new risk for old friends.

As Little Macclow prepares to celebrate May Day, Tom Hepston’s arrival stirs expectations and speculation in the Derbyshire village. Tom left fourteen years ago. Now he is back, but he hasn’t come willingly and he has no plans to stay. He believes the physical and mental wounds from the naval career he has left behind have made him a madman no woman could–or should–love. Can he leave again before everyone sees the broken man he has become?

Sally Royden’s young heart broke when Tom left the first time. After learning not to hope for his return, she now leads a satisfying life caring for her sister and serving as the village seamstress. She’s shocked to find him standing in her parlor. Tom’s experiences have changed him. Dare she hope for renewed friendship? Or even love? Or will her heart be broken twice–by the same man? In Little Macclow, love seems to have a power all of its own.

Note: Part of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project and other non-profit organizations that support those fighting the challenges of PTSD.

Which book is this in the series?

I’ve titled Lord of Her Heart as Book One in my series, even though it’s not the first book I wrote in it. The book that is “second” in the series (now) was written as a stand-alone originally, my first-ever “Christmas” book, Lord of Misrule. But readers fell in love with my village setting, and wanted a series. And then I realized, of course, that there were a bunch more stories to tell! Lord of Her Heart takes place eight months prior to Lord of Misrule, so it seemed to be the starting point.

How many books do you plan for the series?

At present it looks like seven stories altogether, although a couple of those may be novellas rather than full-length books. There may be a short story or two to throw in as well.

    How many books are completed?

Only the first two are out. I’m working on Book Three right now.

What characters are the main stars in your series?

Each book picks up the romance of different people connected to the village and stands as a complete story, but the characters overlap. For instance, the first book tells the romance story of Sally Royden, the village seamstress, while the second book’s heroine is her best friend, Cassie Tamworth, the daughter of Little Macclow’s vicar. But Sally’s younger sister Ellen, who works at the village inn, will get her own story later on, and so will some of the other young people you meet in the earlier books. A timeline links the stories. Readers have also asked for the story of the local squire and his wife, an older couple who figure in all the stories as they are central to life in Little Macclow. Their romance will be a prequel, eventually.

What is the overall theme in this series?

Little Macclow is a tiny, special, tucked-away place where Love seems to have some mysterious power –it may be magic or it might just be the way things happen there. I leave that up to the reader to decide. But the power of love is the grand theme. After all, it’s a romance series! J

Please list the series titles below, in any order you prefer.

    Available:
    1 –Lord of Her Heart
    2 –Lord of Misrule
Not out yet (working titles, not final)
    3. –A Little Macclow Wedding
    4. –His Lady to Love
    5. –A Stranger in Little Macclow
    6. –The London Visitor
    7. –Lady Anne’s Choice

What did you like best about writing this series?

I fall more in love with the village and its people the more I write about them. But it is also great fun to see how circumstance (or is it magic? Or just the power of Love?) can interfere (or assist) with everyone’s plans and intentions. I’m also enjoying the challenge of writing a series mostly about the common folks instead of the aristocracy and showing that they don’t have to have wealth or titles in order to still find their happy endings.

What other books (not in this series, have you written?)

I wrote seven traditional Regency romances back in the days of the old Signet/NAL Regency line. They were well-received, won some accolades and awards, but I had to take a sixteen-year break in my writing career due to a combination of family health crises with my mother, my husband and one of my sons. Ebooks were invented and the whole book world really changed during that time. I started my re-entry slowly, first re-editing and re-issuing some of my old backlist (and three are still with Penguin, unrevised). The Little Macclow books are my first new ones. Lord of Misrule was a finalist for the 2019 Maggie Award for Best Historical Romance, which really boosted my confidence. It’s kind of scary to come back after such a long break. Writing, like any skill, takes practice!

Beverley Oakley was seventeen when she bundled up her first her 500+ page romance and sent it to a publisher. Unfortunately drowning her heroine on the last page was apparently not in line with the expectations of romance readers so Beverley became a journalist.
Twenty-six years later Beverley was delighted to receive her first publishing contract from Robert Hale (UK) for a romance in which she ensured her heroine was saved from drowning in the icy North Sea.
Since 2009 Beverley has written more than thirteen historical romances, mostly set in England during the early nineteenth century. Mystery, intrigue and adventure spill from their pages and if she can pull off a thrilling race to save someone’s honour – or a worthy damsel from the noose – it’s time to celebrate with a good single malt Scotch.
Beverley lives with her husband, two daughters and a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy the size of a pony opposite a picturesque nineteenth-century lunatic asylum. She also writes Africa-set adventure-filled romances starring handsome bush pilot heroes, and historical romances with less steam and more sexual tension, as Beverley Eikli.
