Why did you write this book?

All the stories in this series, The Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea are about strong women and the men who deserve them. I read a story about Dr. James Barry, a Regency surgeon who was commissioned in 1813 and served in the British Military and became the Surgeon of the Forces. Dr. Barry died in 1859, serving nearly fifty years. It wasn’t until the doctor was being prepared for burial that it was discovered that Dr. Barry was a woman. The story, The Lady and the Earl is about a female doctor.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy reading historical mysteries. Sherry Thomas’ The Lady Sherlock Series is fantastic! I also enjoy reading historical romance and fantasy. I also enjoy adventure stories. All my books have some element of adventure. My pirate and medieval stories have epic fights. It parallels the conflict the hero and heroine find themselves in. You can be sure to find that to win those battles they must work together to be successful.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

This is a difficult question. I love Claire in Outlander, Captain Blood (maybe that’s just Errol Flynn), Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean (he’s so checky), and there is always Mr. Darcy. I could go on…

What are you working on at the moment?

There are several projects that I’m working on. I am just finishing the last book, The Lady and the Rogue, in my series, The Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea. This story is about a concert pianist and how music is used to send coded messages. It will be released this August. I’ve just completed a short story for an anthology, The Lady and the Flame, that will be out in September. I am also putting my toe in the more steamy series, with a short story in a Lyon’s Den anthology, a Dragonblade Publishing-connected world that will release in August. That has kept me busy!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

The Lady and the Rogue will release in August. Lady Euphemia Brandt, a concert pianist is recklessly out by herself after dark and is accosted by an English nobleman and blames herself for being mistaken for a “lady of the night.” She fights him off knocking him out, but in the process loses her reticule. Without a choice she ‘borrows’ coin from her unconscious attacker and hires a carriage home. She tells no one about the incident. At a party for the Prime Minister, she sees the very rogue who attacked her and realizes he is one of the wealthiest men of the ton. How does she explain her aversion to the advances of the most eligible and sought-after bachelor without giving away what happened?
