    When Perrine Dupré dies under suspicious circumstances her daughter, Julie Ann Dupré, returns to New Orleans to find the truth about her mother’s death. She uncovers a family secret, hidden for years. Now someone is trying to kill her. Will the little dog who appears after her mother’s death help her? Is the sexy detective out to help her, or is he part of police corruption?

    Detective Connor O’Reilly, a native of New Orleans, comes from a family of police. He’s an honest cop but realizes there is corruption in the division. His father may have died as part of that corruption. He meets Julie Ann, checks out her mother’s death and finds it was badly handled. Julie Ann deserves the truth and he wants to find it for her.

    Julie Ann and Connor work together to unravel the real reason behind Perrine Dupré’s murder, Julie Ann’s mysterious past, and why people want her dead, while developing their challenging relationship. Can they both survive? And can their relationship survive?

    No. Actually, I usually solve my problems while I sleep. I think about the scene or character and what the challenge is and go to sleep. In the morning I wake up and often I have my answers.

    you did research for this book?

    Yes. I usually do research. For this book I researched New Orleans, history, police corruption, voodoo, ghosts and culture traits. I did the research online, online groups and with a visit to New Orleans.

    some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)

    Yes. There is a dog. Sorry, can’t say any more.

    this book has more than one genre?

    Yes. It’s a contemporary, romantic suspense with paranormal elements.

    you speak more than one language?

    No

    you grew up where you live now?

    No. I’m Canadian and still live here but I was born in Alberta, moved to British Columbia and recently moved back to Alberta, but a different town.

    you love to read?

    Yes. I love romantic suspense, JD Robb and a lot of self-pubbed authors. I also enjoy murders, suspense and biographies. I usually read before I go to bed.

    you are never late?

    Not usually. I have a good sense of time, but occasionally detours and traffic can throw me off. so

    you love pizza?

    Yes. Chicken fajita pizza is awesome. And so is bacon and shrimp.

    you love sushi?

    Yes. I love California rolls and tempura.

    you have a pet?

    Yes. I have a 10-year-old, overweight rescue dog. Benji is a Poochon – part poodle, part bichon.

    After and eleven-year absence Janna Kincaid inherits a ranch and is
    forced to return to a town she only remembers with unhappiness, a man to whom
    she was briefly married and never wants to see again, and someone is trying to
    kill her.
    Kye Hawkins has loved Janna since he first met her. They were married
    but a few weeks later she ran away, without an explanation. He still hasn’t
    figured out why. Now she’s coming back. Does she still love him? Can he
    rekindle the romance and also prevent her from being killed?
    Janna doesn’t want Kye’s help in anyway, yet he always seems to be
    there when she’s in trouble. Can they work together to find a killer, save the
    Native burial ground and home of the spirits, and find romance again?

    Bateman started writing when the locked room murders were popular and loved to
    write a few of them. Recently she left the beautiful Okanagan Valley in BC, Canada with her husband and two Shiba Inu dogs for Medicine Hat, Alberta. It’s
    smaller and more friendly. She lives there in the summer, and winters in
    Tucson, AZ away from the snow and cold. She writes in both places. Hunted,
    Missing and the newest – Targeted are part of her Montana series. She also has
    her Holly Devine series; A Cruise to Remember, and a Murder to Forget. Don’t Go
