Read The Zenith Decoy the new #SciFi by Lorin Petrazilka and Laura Hohman @petrazilka #RLFblog #RomanceA visit to an outpost on the edge of the Zenith Empire takes a sudden turn when Princess Montellor and her handmaid are tricked into a trap by the Aeon Dynasty. The kidnapping turns out to be not simply a plot to ransom them, but rather a much more cunning plan set in motion by the evil pirate lord Thassian Renoud.

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Zenith Decoy.

The Zenith Decoy by Lorin Petrazilka & Laura Hohman

    Genre SciFi
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13

A space adventure with intrigue, romance, royalty, and pirates who want to be royalty. The Princess of the Zenith Empire and her handmaid are captured by the Aeon Dynasty, a pirate organization looking for any way to legitimize their claims.

Forced into an arranged engagement with the ruffian Prince Dax, Shandra and Jayna fight to escape while learning about the galaxy, about love and loyalty, and what it means to be a royal in a vast galactic empire.

Why did you write this book? This is the second time Laura and I have co-written together. The first time, we wrote a set of paranormal romance novellas. We intended to write a novella length story again, but this book took on a life of its own and became a full novel! We both love fantasy with a bit of a YA feel, and we love Star Trek. For this book, we blended the two and came up with a space adventure that has the elements of a SciFi without getting too heavy into the science aspect. And while there’s a romance storyline, really it’s a friendship story.

Read Billionaire in the Heights the new #LatinxRomance by Maria Lokken @Maria_Lokken#RLFblog #Contemporary #RomanceSparks fly in Maria Lokken’s new contemporary romance, Billionaire in the Heights. A real estate mogul’s new development plan threatens a neighborhood center. But the fiery community center’s director is willing to step in front of a wrecking ball to save the neighborhood in this enemies-to-lovers Latinx sweet romance.

Maria, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Billionaire in the Heights.

Billionaire in the Heights by Maria Lokken

    Genre Contemporary Lantinx Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G rated

Real estate mogul, Dale Forester, wins the bid to build a new apartment complex on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This success secures his new position as CEO of Forester Industries and saves his deceased father’s company from a disastrous free fall.

After months of leading rallies and protests to block the new construction, Sylvia Ramirez won’t give up on saving the community center she manages from Forester Industries’ wrecking ball.

With the deadline to break ground fast approaching, Sylvia is running out of options to save the center, and Dale is losing precious community goodwill. Working together might be their only solution, but how can these strong-willed overachievers manage a truce? Sparks fly in this enemies-to-lovers sweet romance.

Why did you write this book?

I read an article about several corporations that were helping underserved communities. And while that’s terrific, it doesn’t always make for great fiction. Let’s face it – we need some conflict to keep reading and find out what happens next. But I found this story and the companies compelling. So I thought, what if I start the story at the opposite end of the spectrum – a company doing something that doesn’t serve the community, but in the end, it works out? The next thing I knew, I was drumming up conflict in my mind – while I ate breakfast, showered, and went to work. Since I adore the enemies-to-lovers trope, I threw that in, and the story really began to cook. I imagined a fiery Latina fighting against corporate greed. Once I pictured my female protagonist and what she wanted, it was hard not to write the book. It was just a story that made me want to get up in the morning and write.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Romantic Comedy. I cannot resist a romantic comedy with witty banter between the female and male protagonists. Between the Margins by Melissa Ferguson and Book Lovers by Emily Henry come to mind.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I have many. Today, I’ll pick two; one from the past and one from the present.

Elizabeth Bennett from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Because she is a woman who will not settle. Her quips are deadly. Her position is unmovable. Her strength is endearing.

Bonnie Garmus’ novel Lessons in Chemistry featured a remarkable female protagonist. A woman who must overcome prejudices to succeed in a boys-only club to have the career she deserves. She does it with grace and agility — regardless of the obstacles she must overcome.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m fascinated by the speed with which AI has entered the mainstream and the attendant necessity of cyber security. To that end, I’ve turned my fascination into a romantic suspense novel about a woman who must hack into her dead husband’s computer to obtain a code before governments topple.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

A romantic suspense entitled, The Mechanic. And a rom-com, The Makeover.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): Sensual

Secrets are the best protection against love.

Rose Badger is the local flirt, and if the other inhabitants of backwoods Blake’s Folly, Nevada, don’t approve, she couldn’t care less. With a disastrous marriage and a dead-end career far behind her, settling down is the last thing she intends to do. Newcomer Jonah Livingstone is intriguing, but with his complicated life, he’s off limits for anything other than friendship. Besides, Rose has a secret world of her own—one she won’t give up for any man.

The last person geologist Jonah Livingstone expected to meet in a semi-ghost town is the sparkling and lovely Rose Badger. But Rose, always surrounded by many admirers, doesn’t seem inclined to choose a favorite. So why fret? Jonah keeps his personal life well hidden…and that’s the best way to avoid disappointment.

    Trailer: https://youtu.be/tHPrIciT0XU

Why did you write this book?

Once upon a time, I found myself in a clapboard, rusty trailer, semi-ghost town in Nevada, where an ever-buffeting wind dragged dust across the frozen ground, rattled grasses, and set the doors of abandoned shacks tapping. The hotel I stayed in was a rundown has-been: ceilings soared high, and the lumpy, almost colorless wallpaper was surely a century old. In the hotel’s bar, a talentless band whined out bad country music, and eccentric locals dished up tall tales, wry humor, and suspicion.

It was a singular community, quite magical, and I’ve recreated it as Blake’s Folly, the setting for three romances: A Room in Blake’s Folly, All About Charming Alice, and Desert Rose.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I love reading history. A book that combines literary travel and history gets my undivided attention.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Flora Post in Stella Gibbon’s Cold Comfort Farm is a favorite. She is brisk, efficient, intelligent, but also has a wonderful sense of humor (so did Stella Gibbons, obviously).

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m finishing up Words for Patty Jo. It’s a romance, it’s women’s literature, and it is rather more literary than my other romances. I’m also working on a book of satirical cartoons.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Hopefully, a book of my own cartoons.

In Nan Reinhardt’s newest novel, Home to River’s Edge, high school sweethearts, Jazz and Eli have lived half their lives apart. Can they reinvent themselves back in the town where it all began?

Nan, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Home to River’s Edge.

Home to River’s Edge by Nan Reinhardt

    Genre Contemporary small-town romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

She’s determined to start a new chapter, so why is she still drawn to a man from her past?

When Jasmine Weaver, the chief of staff to a powerful D.C. congresswoman, chose integrity, she didn’t anticipate ringing in the New Year disgraced, unemployed, and sleeping in her childhood bedroom. Now back in River’s Edge, Indiana, identical triplet Jazz has her sisters’ support while she plans her next steps. She agrees to lead the committee for their high school’s fifteenth reunion, never dreaming that her co-chair is the man who broke her teenage heart.

As the new CEO of Walker Construction, Elias Walker has taken the family business to new levels of success. He’s buried himself in work to ease the grief of losing his fiancé several years earlier and wants nothing more than to be a carpenter again. Elias grudgingly agrees to co-chair the high school’s reunion committee, but when Jazz Weaver blows into town, suddenly anything seems possible.

These high school sweethearts have lived half their lives apart. Can they reinvent themselves back in the town where it all began?

Why did you write this book?

The Weaver triplets were secondary characters in previous River’s Edge novels and as I was winding down the Lange Brothers series, they were the ones who started talking to me. So, I gave each one a story and voila, the Weaver Sister trilogy was born (If only it was that easy, eh?).

What is your favorite genre to read?

I do love to read contemporary romance, but I also love cozies, and romantic and political suspense.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

David Langston from the novel The Harvester by Indiana author Gene Stratton-Porter. He was the first romantic hero I ever read and I fell in love with him immediately.

What are you working on at the moment?

Book 1 in my new series for Tule Publishing, The Walker Family

What books will we see from you in coming months?

The next two books in the Weaver Sisters trilogy, Meet Me in River’s Edge and Christmas in River’s Edge will release in August and October respectively—I sure hope readers will fall in love with these triplets. I had a ball writing their stories!

An heiress with two failed Seasons, an eligible duke unable to keep women away, make a pact to court and find each other the perfect mate. They don’t have to look far.

Ruth, I’m happy to host you on Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Tell us about The Lady and the Barrister.

The Lady and the Barrister by Ruth A Casie

    Genre Historical Romance, Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

Lady Anna Ravencroft shines brightly as a much-admired organizer and hostess. In her mind it is the one thing at which she succeeds. Inwardly she is shy, retiring… a wallflower. With two failed seasons that ended in disaster she has accepted marriage might not be in her future.

Lord Fraser Castleton, a London barrister is shocked when he inherits a title and estate from his father’s great uncle and becomes the 8th Duke of Willbury. He returns to Sommer-by-the-Sea to take up permanent residence. He crosses paths with his longtime friend, Lady Anna. He confides that he is the target of every mother with an unmarried daughter. She commiserates with him. Every eligible gentleman sees the Ravencroft purse rather than her. Together they decide to find a mate for each other. Anna presents him with a list of several eligible women. Castleton is receptive, but not enthusiastic. He gives her the same reaction with the subsequent two lists. Will she realize he has already found his match?

Richard Younge who doesn’t always play by the rules wants to be the next Member of Parliament for his borough. His political backer will support him if Younge can finance the campaign himself. He suggests Younge find a wealthy wife to support his political plans. Marrying a Ravencroft would all but guarantee not only his backer’s continued support but provide the steady stream of money needed to claim his place amongst the gentry. He calls on Lady Anna for assistance with a campaign event and has an ulterior motive.

Two men vie for Lady Anna, but who will she choose? The smooth politician or the down-to-earth barrister turned duke?

Why did you write this book?

This is book one in my series, The Return of the Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea. Each of my heroines have attended the very unique Sommer-by-the-Sea Female Seminary. Each woman is personally selected by the headmistress for some unique skill. Lady Anna Ravencroft feels strongly about social justice. To fund her foundation people hire her to creates lavish events but instead of paying her, they donate the money to the foundation. People from all over seek an invitation to an event created by Lady Anna.

She simply took her party-giving skill to a higher level. I so enjoy writing stories about women who do the unexpected.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy reading historical romance and fantasy. I also enjoy adventure stories. All my books have some element of adventure. My pirate and medieval stories have epic fights. It parallels the conflict the hero and heroine find themselves in. You can be sure to find that to win those battles the hero and heroine must work together to be successful.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

This is difficult question. I love Claire in Outlander, Captain Blood (maybe that’s just Errol Flynn), Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean (he’s so cheeky), and there is always Mr. Darcy. Charlotte Holmes in Sherry Thomas’ Lady Sherlock series. I could go on…

What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on the next story in this series, The Lady and the Earl. I’m having so much fun with this story. Our heroine is a proficient surgeon in a time when men ruled the surgical suit.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I plan a third book in The Return of the Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea, The Lady and the Rogue, a case of mistaken identity. I have had so much fun with the ladies, that I’m planning to take on the men next in a series, Barrington’s Brigade.
