Thank you and ‘Auf Wiedersehn’ to Kayelle’s RFL Blog from Iris Blobel @_iris_b #Books #RLFblog

Thank you and 'Auf Wiedersehn' to Kayelle's RFL Blog from Iris Blobel @_iris_b #Books #RLFblogI know today’s post is supposed to be a last chance to promote one of my books for the last time here on the RFL Blog before the blog retires next year.

But I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks. Thanks to Kayelle, who deserves more than a thanks. My gratitude for all she’s done over the many years, and not just for the RFL blog, but for everything else she’s created, oversees, and keeps running. The many (many!) ways that she tries to help authors find their way in the business of publishing. And she doesn’t do it by just creating opportunities, no, she guides everyone along. She’s always reaching out to help and finding solutions. I had a quick look through the blog and counted six posts promoting my books. That’s amazing. And she did it without asking for anything in return.

Her support went beyond helping authors. October was always the #Canceraware month on the RFL Blog, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciated the opportunity to talk about the illness and its struggles.

Kayelle, my sincerest thanks for everything you have done over the many years. I hope one day all your good deeds will come back multiplied in good luck. ♥

And while I am here, I might as well ‘show off’ one of my books. 😊

Fresh Beginnings is currently 99c (on Amazon only).

Why did I write this book?
I love this book. We went to the USA a few years ago, travelling in a motorhome through 5 different states and having the time of our lives. After returning home and looking through hundreds of photos, I came up with the idea to turn our itinerary into a story. Fresh Beginnings was born. I hope the readers will enjoy this little journey, and hopefully my love for the places that we went shines through.

Meet Adriana Kraft @adrianakraft, Author of Embracing Passion #RLFblog #Romance #WriteLGBTQA single wrong assumption can be costly in Adriana Kraft’s new erotic romance release, Embracing Passion. Roseanne Falcon is a PhD researcher conducting unusual interviews with truckers. Thomas Walker is a seasoned detective, out to snare the stunning redhead he’s convinced is a prostitute. Can he overcome his deep-seated bias to make room for what’s possible?

Adriana, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Embracing Passion.

    Embracing Passion by Adriana Kraft

    Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Book heat level: (based on movie ratings): R

A single wrong assumption can be costly…

Now in her late twenties, Rosanne Falcon’s life has finally come together—a Ph.D., a prestigious research job, and two exquisite lovers, one of each gender, to complete the package. The intense bond she shares with Simone Stone was augmented rather than broken when Simone met and married Boyd Roberts, and the three have forged a fulfilling polyamory relationship. More would only be trouble.

Widowed by a tragic accident several years earlier, Detective Thomas Walker is nearing retirement after twenty years on the police force and ready to change careers. Fully convinced the hot redhead who meets truckers at the rest area he’s staked out is a prostitute, he sets out to build his case against her. He is dead wrong, but each layer he uncovers of what she really does for a living challenges long held assumptions. Can he overcome his deep-seated bias to make room for what’s possible?

Tell us about yourself as a person.

What makes you different from other people?

A major difference is that “I” am not a single person – I’m two people. My husband and I write together under the pen name Adriana Kraft. I’ll add here that when you see “me” out and about on social media and blog posts, that’s almost always the solo me (she/her). Hubs and I plot, write, and edit together, but I’m our marketer in chief.

Another difference is that we’ve never fit into any traditional “box.” Neither one of us followed a straight career path. If an interesting opportunity came up, we took it. We joke that it’s because his astrological sign is Aquarius – free spirited, unpredictable, and never comfortable in any box. I’ve had no trouble coming along for the ride, and I wouldn’t trade anything for some of the adventures we’ve had.

    What is your personality type?

I love throwing our MBTI types into questions like this – I’ll explain in a sec, for those unfamiliar. I’m INFJ and my husband is INFP. MBTI is a personality inventory that identifies a person’s style or preferences in four main areas:

Introvert (I) versus extrovert (E) – like most writers, both hubs and I are strong introverts, people who thrive on meaningful relationships with a small collection of others and don’t circulate well at cocktail parties (which, if you stand near a wall and just watch, provide lots of fodder for the next book plot).

Sensing (S) versus Intuition (N) – I suspect lots of writers also prioritize intuition over fact gathering, though I hope we’re sufficiently grounded in reality. Sometimes I wonder.

Thinking (T) versus Feeling (F) – You’ll notice we’re both focused on feelings. This doesn’t mean we never think – we’re a pair of retired academics, so there’s been a vast amount of intellectual endeavor across our careers. It means in making decisions we each value emotion and feelings more than lots of data and information. Naturally we pour those emotions into the characters we write.

Judging (J) versus(Perceiving (P) – ah, here’s the rub. Our one difference. I am quick to judge, not in the sense of being judgmental, but in making decisions. I see a problem or something to be reached for, and I’ve already figured out what to do and may have even begun to take action.

Fortunately my partner in crime has to take his time perceiving and processing the information, waiting for all the important elements to surface, and hold me back from silly mistakes.

He and I like to say that our first three MBTI dimensions means we both have our heads in the clouds, but at least one of us (him) can keep his feet on the ground.

    What is your favorite book?

Since I’m the marketer, I get to cop to my own favorite here: Emma, by Jane Austen. My college English professor was a remarkable woman who shared that she kept the complete Jane Austen novels on her nightstand and simply started over again each time she completed them. I promptly purchased a set and read them all. My favorite moment in all her works is the moment Emma is walking in the garden with Mr. Knightley, suddenly becomes aware of her feelings and the risks she is facing, and suggests they take another turn around the paths. Moments where a women discovers both her true feelings and her inner strength—and then takes action—are what I love to read and something we both strive for as we write our novels.

Tell us about yourself as a writer.

What made you want to be a writer?

I’m talking about my half of our duo for this group of questions. I was already writing poetry by the fifth grade, and as a thirteen-year-old I took up a pen and began my first novel – which, thankfully, never saw the light of day. I remember researching all I could find out about the city where I placed my characters. I had a general plot – a teenage romance. My quiet, socially awkward same-age heroine was going to get the boy after all. After three chapters I must have been distracted by some other teenage drama, but I kept the pages in my memories notebook for years.

Learning early in our marriage that my husband had also always wanted to write fiction was a fortuitous gift.

What are your favorite books for writing advice?

Some years back, freelance editor Beth Hill created a PDF book called The Magic of Fiction. It covers all the elements a beginning fiction author needs to know – point of view, narrative tense, shaping characters, crafting dialogue, etc. – and as academics, hubs and I had a lot to learn about everything. For many years Beth ran The Editors Blog, and the website is still live with more in-depth treatment of all these elements: https://theeditorsblog.net/

I think hubs and I were browsing a Barnes and Noble in the era before e-books, and in the writing section this title leaped out at us: “Shut Up!” he explained. It’s a complete primer on writing realistic dialogue that will pull readers in, as opposed to bore them to death. If you think about it, most of what we say on any given day might be completely realistic dialogue, but we’d never put it in a book. Toeing that line, between real and readable, is a delicate balance.

What are your favorite reference books?

LOL! A decade ago we sold our house and took off around the country in our motor home for the next five years. We allowed ourselves a dozen print books each to travel with us – fortunately, the internet filled in the blanks. My huge Roget’s Thesaurus was one of them, and I still access it when the online version doesn’t pinpoint what I need.

Another one was the tiny Strunk and White Elements of Style. A longtime editor friend of mine once told me that before she sat down to start any editing job, she re-read this book to keep her grounded in the essentials. For years I followed the same habit – and the online version is now at the top of my favorites bar. The Elements of Style Online

And a third? The Chicago Manual of Style – now also online (for a fee). It’s my grammar bible, and yes, I still have to look some things up, though I suspect I’ve memorized a vast portion of it.

Read the series: The Accidental Billionaire Cowboys by Kris Bock @Kris_Bock #RLFblog #SweetRomance #Romance

Read the series: The Accidental Billionaire Cowboys by Kris Bock @Kris_Bock #RLFblog #SweetRomance #RomanceWho wouldn’t want to be a billionaire? In Kris Bock’s Accidental Billionaire Cowboys series, a Texas ranching family learns that winning the lottery causes as many problems as it solves.

Kris, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your series.

    The Accidental Billionaire Cowboys Series

    Genre Sweet contemporary romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G

When a Texas ranching family wins a billion-dollar lottery, they’re overwhelmed. The standard advice is to go into hiding, but how can they when they have animals needing care? They’ll have to stay and fend off envious friends, scammers, and fortune hunters. Can these four cowboy brothers and their widowed mother build new dreams and find love amidst the chaos?

“I really enjoy this series. It is well written and the characters are very likable.” – BookBub Review

“I love returning to this little Texas town and the Tomlinson family. It’s like reconnecting with old friends. This is such a fun book series.” – BookBub Review

How many books do you plan for the series?

This five-book series features the four Tomlinson brothers, and their mother gets her new love story in the final book. I loved being able to write a new romance for a woman about to turn sixty!

    How many books are completed?

All five books are written. The first four are out, and book 5 comes out November 7.

What characters are the main stars in your series?

The Tomlinson’s are a Texas ranching family in Last Stand, which is a fictional small town created by Tule Publishing, where many authors have set their series. Ava is a widow whose husband died a decade ago, and her four sons are ages 25 to 32. Three of the brothers still live on the ranch with their mother, struggling to keep things running.

The oldest, Josh, wants to run things the traditional way his father did and just wishes he had enough money to pay the bills and fix the barn roof. Goofy and exuberant TC wants to experiment with alternative livestock such as ostriches and llamas. Bad boy Cody left town to become a crop duster after an accident destroyed his dreams of becoming a fighter pilot. Socially awkward Xander handles the family finances and cares for all of the smaller animals, such as rabbits and chickens, as well as any sick or injured creature.

Then of course you have all the love interests! They include old friends (tough lawyer Carly and prickly high school theater teacher Mallory) and newcomers (Hallie, who retreated to her aunt’s wild animal rescue to recover from an attack; pregnant Daisy, who ran away from her wedding; and geologist North who thinks he’s only in town for a month). The members of Ava’s meddling knitting group are other ongoing characters. That’s probably enough for now though!

What is the overall theme in this series?

Most of us would be happy to try being super rich, but the winners of huge lotteries don’t always have happy endings. This series looks at some of the challenges, such as not knowing whether people are interested in you for yourself or your money. It also asks the question, What would you do if you could do anything? My hope is that readers will start thinking about what’s really important to them and whether they can shift their lives toward those goals now, even if they’re not billionaires.

Please list the series titles below, in any order you prefer.

    The Billionaire Cowboy’s Christmas
    Charming the Billionaire Cowboy
    The Billionaire Cowboy’s Proposition
A Baby for the Billionaire Cowboy
The Billionaire Cowgirl’s Christmas – out Nov 7

What did you like best about writing this series?

I’m actually not drawn to writing about – or even reading about – either cowboys or billionaires. But I had this idea, and the publisher wanted more cowboys series … It turned out to be really fun to put my own spin on the character stereotypes and tropes and write about these sweet, hard-working characters. Plus I got to write about pregnant cattle, ranch dogs, kittens, llamas, ostriches, and even cougars and bears at the local wild animal rescue. If you’re feeling down, search for videos of baby llamas or ostriches for a happiness boost!

What other books (not in this series, have you written?)

My Furrever Friends Sweet Romance series features the employees and customers at a cat café. Watch as they fall in love with each other and shelter cats. In The Accidental Detective humorous mystery series, a witty journalist solves mysteries in Arizona and tackles the challenges of turning fifty. Plus I write romantic suspense stories of treasure hunting, archaeology, and intrigue in the Southwest.

I also writes a series with my brother, scriptwriter Douglas J Eboch, who wrote the original screenplay for the movie Sweet Home Alabama. The Felony Melanie series follows the crazy antics of Melanie, Jake, and their friends a decade before the events of the movie.

    Genre Women's Fiction Contemporary Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

When Macy inherits a beach house from her aunt, she discovers secret rooms filled with relics from the past - including a dead body. Things get even more complicated when an old flame begins investigating the murder. Macy must find out who the killer is in order to piece together the secrets buried in a diary left for her by her aunt, unleashing the mystery of her past.

How long have you been writing?

I've been writing since I was fourteen years old. I can't remember a time when I wasn't writing.

What was your first published book?

My first published book was Roses. I wrote Roses when my son was an infant and had his nights and days mixed up. Writing was what got me through the night.

Tell us about your writing space or home office.

This is one of my favorite writing places to date. My home office houses six of my seven bookcases. One of the first thing I did when I moved into this house was put up french doors so I could have the privacy I need from my two cats.

    Anything special about your space?

The view from the window which overlooks a creek.

What do you love most about that area?

It's great that I can shut the door and block out the television or my cats running around the house. This is the first home office that has doors to shut.

What would like to change about your home office?

I'd love to paint and replace the individual bookcases with a built in wall bookcase.

If money was no object, what would your home office look like?

I'd have a roll top desk and a top of the line chair. I would add an extension where I could have a sitting room to read.

What office equipment do you use most, other than your computer?

My printer gets the most action. I print out everything I write at the end of the day. I'm still old school and love to edit on a hard copy.

What do you think is a must have for an efficient office?

You need a window in the room, where you can open it to breath in the fresh air and a desk and comfortable chair. For me, I need an area besides my desk to put my papers and notes.

    Are you a writing mom/dad?

    I'm a writing mom.

How do you juggle writing and family?

My kids are married. So I no longer have an excuse for procrastinating.

What's the last book about writing that you read?

I always refer to Save the Cat!

What book or books about writing do you recommend for new authors?

Best book is Save the Cat! by Blake Snyder.

What do you like to read for relaxation?

I love cuddling up with a good women's fiction or cozy mystery.

Try the new audiobook Birds Do It! by *lizzie starr @lizziestarr #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance #AudiobookHyacinth macaws are really lovebirds in *lizzie starr’s contemporary romance Birds Do It! But will discovering the truth from nine years ago bring Garr and Birdie closer, or forever tear them apart?

*lizzie, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Birds Do It!.

I’m sharing this book today because of the rise in AI (Artificial Intelligence) in book creation. Birds is one of my older books, and so every word was written by me. My cover artist created the cover from scratch using various photos and her own talent.

However this book now has an AI component. Today I’m sharing an audio book read by AI. Is the narration as good as one done by a human reader? No, of course not. However, the quality of the voice and natural sounding pronunciation and minor inflections are good. Will AI replace human narrators? I sure hope not.

So why do an AI audio book? In this case, I’m just testing the waters. I personally love listening to books and know so many others do as well. But the best narrators (and don’t we always want the best?) are expensive. So AI narration in this instance is far more financially possible for me. I’ve always wanted to have my books in audio. :)

I’d love to hear what you think of AI narrated audio books in general, and Birds in particular. Check out the product page. You can listen to a brief excerpt before buying. Leave a comment and let me know what you think? Are AI read books a viable option of those who love audio books?

    Happy reading—uh, listening!

*lizzie always made up games and stories to keep her company. So, a cunning witch lived in Grampa’s weather research station and was only held at bay by waving a certain weed. An ancient road grader morphed into a boat carrying wild adventurers to islands filled with fierce lions and dangerous cannibals, which really looked a lot like sheep.

Now filled with fantasy, love, and romance with a sparkling twist, the stories of her imagination swirl their way into the mundane world.

*lizzie recently retired from her more routine life of being *the Lunch Lady* at a private school. According to the kids, she was ‘the best cooker!’ Yes, she misses the students and teachers, but is delighted now to start her days by telling stories rather than opening cases of chicken nuggets and counting milk cartons.

Her tagline of Author and lunch lady~~what a combination! no longer holds true (which makes her sad because she really liked that one).

Now you’ll know *lizzie by her tales of~~Romance with a sparkling twist~~
