    About the Book

    Title The Clam Festival Murders
    Genre Humorous Romantic Mystery
Book heat level (based on movie ratings G, PG, PG13, R): PG
Nothing ever happens in a small clamming town like Fatmire, FL. At least, that’s what Mitch Chase thinks until he teams up with eccentric mystery writer Cassie Wynn to solve a murder. Vicki Cash is found facedown in her seafood dinner after someone at the Clam Festival slipped her a deadly ingredient. Now Mitch and Cassie have to eliminate suspects, but that’s easier said than done. Vicki wasn’t exactly well liked. She took her ex-husband for everything he was worth, evicted the town’s most successful clam farmer, feuded with her sister, and bad-mouthed the mayor’s wife. As they investigate, Mitch discovers this small town isn’t what it seems, and he’s attracted to more than Cassie’s powers of observation. With his quirky and intriguing partner by his side, he’s sure to lose his heart while he catches a killer.

    Introducing Cassie Wynn

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever! We’re happy to have you here today.
    Name: Cassie Wynn
Age: Still a kid at heart
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Fatmire, Florida
    Profession: Mystery Writer
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Caucasian
Describe your body and build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars. Hmm. Let’s see. I’m average height and definitely tanned, since I live in Florida. I weigh a little more than your average aardvark but definitely less than a Bighorn sheep, even after I put on the holiday pounds. I inherited my blonde hair from my mother, but my gray-brown eyes are a mixture from both of my parents. Mitch says my eyes twinkle a lot. Isn’t that sweet?
Who is the significant other in your life? Mitch Chase. He just moved to Fatmire after leaving his job as a city crime reporter. I’m hoping he’ll decide to stay and become this town’s new PI.
Please tell us a little about yourself. I grew up in Fatmire, so I know all the local history and gossip. I write crime novels under my pen name, Dusty Zain, although for some reason, the bookstores keep shelving my work under humor. My first novel was X-Caliber, about a madman who keeps killing people with.34 caliber bullets.
    Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Well, since I’m a writer, I have to say I’m pretty book-smart. I love to read, and I wind up doing lots of research for my work. Of course, since I do that research to learn new things on my own, I suppose that makes me self-taught, too. And because writing fiction leads to a diverse range of research topics, some might say I’m widely-experienced. So my answer is yes.
What kinds of things do you always carry (in pockets or purse)?
I plan to carry air freshener in my purse from now on. If you want to know why, you’re going to have to read The Clam Festival Murders. (It seems only fair that I plug Laurel’s book, since she and Kayelle let me mention mine).
How well do you know your neighbors?
I know my neighbors very well—even better than they’d like! I bought my parents’ house when they retired, so I’ve been in the same neighborhood almost all my life. The patio behind my side garden offers me a great vantage for watching everyone without being seen, and I’m also skilled at exchanging gossip. You wouldn’t believe all the hanky-panky that goes on around here, not to mention the murders. I was the one to find my neighbor Vicki keeled over dead with her face in her shrimp dinner. The smell was what first alerted me. Have you ever sniffed rotting seafood? PU.
What secrets do you know about people around you that you do NOT share?
Mostly I just keep my own secrets. For instance, do you want to know why I picked the pen name Dusty Zain? Well, I’m sorry, but I won’t tell you.
What would you like to tell your writer?
I am a strong, independent woman, but I have to say, I am very happy that you sent Mitch to me. He’s just like one of the heroes in my books: those shrewd blue eyes, that mind like a steel trap, and his mastery of subterfuge. It’s true his tenacity can slant toward stubbornness at times, but I can handle him.
