Darkest Magic I don’t know how many fairy tales you’ve read recently, but perhaps
you remember a few hair-raising bedtime stories from your childhood, or perhaps
you’re a fan of the TV shows Grimm or Once Upon a Time. As stories go, fairy tales
aren’t always romantic and they can be rather gritty. They often include danger,
death or destruction, trickery, magic, evil beings and innocent victims. In fact,
I’d say those are almost prerequisites for a good fairy tale! But for a romance
story, unless it’s Urban Fantasy or Paranormal, not so much.When I was assigned the Grimm Brothers fairy tale, The Blue Light,
I had a hard time wrapping my head around the romance. The king tosses the soldier
out of his kingdom and in return the soldier has a dwarf kidnap the princess and
forces her to do menial cleaning for him! Later, he marries her but it’s more a
tale about revenge against the king than it is love for the princess. And for a
romance, that angle just won’t work.I found it better to put the hero in a tighter spot! Make him
a beta wolf of a werewolf pack, stuck between duty and pack rules, and his ongoing
need to protect his love interest. The danger, death and magic all came from other
individuals – two witches and a dwarf, plus the alpha wolf. Rising against those
forces won’t be easy for the beta wolf, but then, he’s no innocent victim. The Paranormal
touch added the right kind of darkness to the story’s re-telling so that it matched
that “fairy tale” feel. The romance got pumped up and yes, I included
some smexy stuff, ’cause what’s a great romance without that? All in all, the re-telling
had a more modern-day feel and I like to think it’s more entertaining than the Grimm

yourself, please.My name is Miriam Miller and I am the Princess of the Light.
I am in my late twenties and I work as a manager of a bookstore. I try to live
a normal life but with angels and demons popping up, it’s hard to explain
sometimes. My favorite thing to do in my free time is to curl up with a good
book. I love books.What’s your internal
limitation? Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what
it is you need to do during this story?Hmm, I would say my biggest limitation is to ignore the
inner demons within and to have a pure heart. Battling with demons is not as
hard as you might think. I can wail on demons all day but to stay pure, to
focus on the Light is a constant struggle. It’s the true test of evil versus
good and for me, my heart needs to be pure. If not, I am no better than the
demons I face.What inner doubt
causes you the most difficulty?For me, it’s believing that I can’t do what needs to be
done. I have been chosen to be the Princess of the Light. Who am I compared to
others? I am not a pious woman like Mother Teresa. I’m just me, plain-old
Miriam. What if I fail? Will God send me to Hell?What’s your external
complication? In the story world your author created, explain what it is you
fear most.Dealing with the constant attacks by Than and Lisbeth is
enough to fear but what I dread most is becoming a warrior for darkness. I have
been blessed with all these abilities and yet the temptation is so strong to
give in to Than. Becoming a weapon of darkness is my worst nightmare.Tell us about your
significant other, that person who makes living worthwhile.What would that
person say about you?Joe Deacons is the love of my life and he is the most
caring, wonderful man in the world. Even though he came from a wealthy family,
he is filled with compassion for those in need. He shows kindness to others and
strives to make a difference in the world. He has shown me what it means to
love another unconditionally and I wouldn’t know what I would do without him. His
love gives me the strength to fight the darkness and together we cannot be
defeated!Joe would definitely say that I am his angel and I can do no
wrong. He would probably also mention that I have an inner strength that defies
explanation. He would gush about all the ways that I give to others without
regard to myself. He would finally mention that I am a faithful woman.What special skills
do you rely on?I have many skills ranging from athletic ability to weapons
training but the greatest skill I have to let go and be an instrument of the
Light. Pushing aside my ego and needs, being one with the Light is the greatest
advantage I have against the darkness. The Light defeats the darkness. Knowledge
is also a terrific skill. Knowing how to defeat the demons and how to spread
the Light is almost as good as a sword.Are you happy with
the way your story ended? Why or why not?Yes, I was thrilled with how it ended. I thought my author
did a fantastic job and even threw in a few surprises that I was not expecting.About the Writer

I create interesting characters who take the reader inside their head.Why did you choose to
write about this character?I chose to write about Miriam because she is the Princess of
the Light and the reader wants to know more about her. She is my favorite
character in the book and I hope that readers will love her as much as I do.Was there anything
you discovered about this character that was a surprise to you?I discovered that even when the chips are down, she rises up
like a phoenix. She has an inner strength that I wish I had.When you wrote about
this character, what made you the most happy? What made you the most sad?I loved writing the love story from Miriam’s point of view. It
reminded me of my own love story with my husband. I also loved writing the
final battle scene.What made me cry was when Lisbeth gets the upper hand on
Miriam and Miriam thinks she has failed. It’s the lowest point in her life and
she feels such despair.Why do you write?I write because I have something to say and if I don’t get
it out, I will suffocate. Writing is like breathing for me and I have been
blessed with the gift of writing since I was a little girl.What other character
from this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?I’d love to do the back-story on Than. He is a powerful
demon and was once an angel like Ethanial. I may have to write a prequel
telling his story someday.Are any sequels
planned for this book?Yes, I have outlines for four more books and have started

like to say to your readers?I first wanted to thank you for taking time out of your busy
lives to read my book. I hope you are inspired and enjoy the world I have

Tell us about yourself,
please.What’s to tell? I’m a physician. Trained and studied at such
prestigious places as Harvard, John Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic. I’m proficient in
traditional medicine in some unorthodox methods my colleges might view unethical.
These include a variety of hands-on healing methods the ancients practiced.What is it that you want,
but cannot have? Authors call this the conflict of the story.The end to the age old war my brethren and I have been fighting
for close to 6,000 years. Although they, my brothers in arms, look forward to returning
to Tuat some day, I am very content to live out the remainder of my life in the
modern age. I’ve grown accustomed to the luxuries our culture provides and can no
longer see myself riding on a chariot or walking to my destinations. Air travel
and computer technology is great – at least where I am concerned.What’s your internal limitation?
Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need
to do during this story?I’m accustomed to utilizing all of my immortal abilities when
I am unfamiliar territory. Sadly, I am unable to use my special talents when I am
around Samantha (Sam) Waters, my current coma patient. My desire to help her weighs
heavy on my heart but without knowing what she is feeling, fearing, thinking; I’m
as lost as any other modern day human physician. There is no reason for her to remain
in the coma. I only hope my words will give her the strength she needs to return
to the present as an active “alive” member of our society. In the scheme
of things I wish to send a message to who ever did this to her… I will find you
and I will make you pay.What inner doubt causes
you the most difficulty?I guess that question would reflect my current situation with
my patient. I fear I will not be able to bring her out of her “sleep”
world. She is such a talented individual. I fear the world… and I will be lost without
her.What’s your external complication?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you fear most.There is always an external complication or two in V’s books.
That woman tends to put all of us in awkwardness situations but I think she’s once
again out done herself.We have to contend with the on-going war with Set’s Legions and
now she’s added another twist to that story with Unab trying to over-throw Bagsu
for their leadership.We all fear the dreaded doom that awaits us. When will the prophesized
avatars that hold the human race’s fate in their hands arrive?On a more personal note, V’s put me in a delicate situation;
while I’m still very much involved with my colleague Dr. Susan Radcliff, V has introduced
me to Sam Waters, an investigative reporter for CNN. I have to admit I am attracted
not only to the predicament of pulling her out of the coma, but to her and her young
child who I discovered carries the aids virus. I’m determined to cure this child
and bring her mother back to the living.Can I do it? I sincerely hope so.Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.I’ve never relied on a woman. My sole purpose in this life has
been to cure the ill and fight along side my brethren… until now and now that these
two (Sam and her child, Samantha have entered my world, I cannot see my life without
them.What would that person
say about you?I really don’t know, but from her touch, I believe she’s interested.
At least I hope she is.What is your family like?What special skills do you rely on?My ability to touch someone and know what they are thinking,
where they have been and what causes them pain and happiness.If someone from your past
showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?I doubt if any immortal, or mortal for that matter, has that
much control of the outcome in a story. We are merely players in the world our author

write about this character?I’ve always had a fondness for Michael even though he is far
from my usual bad-boy heroes. He’s kind, intelligent, direct and Gabriel’s confident.
True to his nature he is perhaps the most grounded Guardian of the seven. Where
others fly off the handle, Michael reins them in and keeps them focused. Now that
the wheels are turned and he is stripped of his unusual gifts can he remain that
way?What do you want to write
next?The next book in the series is Eternal Warriors staring the pretty
boy who spent the last fifty years living it up on the beaches of California.Are any sequels planned
for this book?The series entitled Sekhmet’s Guardians continues to grow. When
I first say the series I saw seven books, then eleven made their appearance. To
date, I’m taken notes on sixteen.Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?Like the majority of the PNRs (Paranormal Romances) you’ve read,
this series centers on a couple, but let me assure there is so much more to Sekhmet’s
Guardians. Every player, even minor characters who appear in the very first volume
(Eternal Lovers) come back to make additional appearances throughout the various
sequels.For the most part my stories focus on the heroine’s growth and
her struggles as she becomes bound to an immortal. Can you imagine what you would
do if you found yourself falling in love with an immortal warrior, one who has lived
for over six thousand years.Author Bio
