What does your character always carry?Her mobile phone. Sometimes her work takes her away overnight, to conferences or meetings with clients, and she wants to be able to stay in touch with the two men who are her soul mates.
Is there an item your character carries for good luck and if so, what is it?
Actually, she has two items, one associated with each of her lovers. Folded up in her wallet, she keeps the first poem Daniel wrote to her, the morning after the party where they met more than ten years ago. Meanwhile, tied around her wrist like a bracelet, she wears a leather thong cut from the flogger Greg used, the first time he whipped her. She also wears two rings, her wedding ring on her left hand and a jade and gold ring gifted to her by Greg on her right.
What does your character carry related to a job or calling?
Leah’s a writer, so she carries her laptop with her almost everywhere. Her job involves writing and reviewing for a magazine, but like most people who write what other people tell them to, she’s also working on a novel.
What else besides pockets does the character use to carry things?
She has a shoulder bag she uses for overnight trips. This features in the story.
What is one thing your character wouldn’t be caught dead carrying?
A novel by James Patterson. She has a rather snobbish attitude toward popular fiction.
Has anything in your character’s pockets ever gotten them in trouble?
Oh, yes. Once at a business meeting she reached into her purse for her phone and pulled out a pair of silk bikinis instead. Daniel had come to visit her at lunch time. At his instigation, they’d enjoyed a quickie in the office rest room. Flustered and running late, she hadn’t noticed that her mischievous husband had stuffed her panties into her bag.

What is your personality type?
I’m an introverted extrovert, I enjoy socializing when I’m away from home, but for me the quiet calm of my office is my favorite place.
What was your favorite childhood game?
Cowboys. Growing up out of town, our neighbors had livestock and I love riding horses so I was often at my neighbors helping out around the yard and barn.
What is your favorite subject to talk about?
History – love history. Which is why I love writing about it and often when not talking about writing talk about historical trivia.
What is your favorite book?
Um just one? I have a dozen favorites in many different genres. One that’s stuck with me the longest is Sackett Brand by Louis L’Amour.
What is your favorite meal?
Scalloped potatoes
Tell us about yourself as a writer.
What made you want to be a writer?
I’ve always loved the written word – when I was little it was the challenge of keeping up with my older sister then it grew into a compulsion.
What are your favorite books for writing advice?
K.M Weiland – she has an amazing amount of non-fiction writing books which are absolutely gold.
What are your favorite reference books?
Craig Marten Release Strategies, Plot Your Romance Novel by Natasha James, and Chicago Manual of Style
When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?
I haven’t been to one yet, but swag for giveaways, copies of my books in print and my laptop set up so people can purchase their ebook copies immediately if they desire to.
What’s your best advice for a new writer?
Write a business plan for yourself and work on your author base (website, social media, newsletter) with your writing as your main priority.
What are your writing goals for the next year or so?
To finish the WIPs I have on my desk at the moment – which total five and then work on new ideas.

Why did you write this book? I remember a TV series Brothers & Sisters, though it didn’t interest me enough to watch it. I liked the premise of following the lives and loves of adult children. Throw in a blended family and the complications became more interesting. I couldn’t wait to write how six stepbrothers and six stepsisters with their careers established now face an additional complication called love.
What is your favorite genre to read? Anything romance, but I also can’t resist a good psychological thriller.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)? Â I always come back to Scarlett O’Hara and Elizabeth Bennet. Those women don’t know the meaning of the word no. They know what they want and nothing will stop them, and they do that while maintaining their poise.
What are you working on at the moment? I’m finishing up a fourth book in my Christmas Billionaire series. The Billionaire’s Christmas Surprise, releases November 23, 2021. Alexander Ross has it all, including a nine year old daughter who struggles with the loss of her mother. He has searched far and wide to find the perfect woman who can guide his daughter through the emotional turmoil. He hadn’t expected a scarred woman to give his daughter the care she needed, and he doesn’t expect the change this woman will make in his own life.

What is your personality type?
I love to learn new things. My curiosity knows few bounds. I am disorganized but not.
What was your favorite childhood game?
I was a “Let’s Pretend” child. I made up the games we played in our playhouse in our large back yard. Sometimes I scared myself. I climbed trees and took my dolls with me.
What is your favorite subject to talk about?
I’ll talk about almost anything, but I LOVE to talk about writing and teaching.
What is your favorite book?

I love hibachi salmon and shrimp. I’m a fan of Pappadeaux, too! (Leftovers are amazing)

What made you want to be a writer?
I have always been a storyteller, so when I retired from teaching, I decided to write the stories my grandmamas told us. Then I discovered romance novels, and characters in my head insisted their stories must be told.
What are your favorite books for writing advice?
What are your favorite reference books?
When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?
I pack everything I might need. I’m the person with the things others forgot. I take sensible shoes and one purse. Extra clothes are a must since I have been known to wear parts of my meals. No one could wear all the jewelry I take with me, but I LOVE my jewelry!
My laptop goes along, of course, and a rolling briefcase!
What’s your best advice for a new writer?
Write as much as you can. If all that comes to mind is crap, write it, and sort it out later. NEVER throw away anything you write. Keep a file of deleted material to revisit and repurpose.
What are your writing goals for the next year or so?
I hope to finish book one of a paranormal series about demons and a paranormal novella I started. I have plenty of unfinished projects waiting.
