Discover secrets behind Fly Boy by Chloe Holiday @ridenour_robin #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance #SmallTownRomance
In Fly Boy, Chloe Holiday’s new romance, Tricia needs to liquidate assets to keep her late grandmother’s orchard out of foreclosure, but Travis—the guy who stood her up on prom night years ago—claims he had a handshake deal with Nana to buy the crop duster.
Chloe, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Fly Boy.
Fly Boy by Chloe Holiday
Genre Contemporary Romance/Small Town/Second Chance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Travis burned her once, but now Tricia must choose:
Flame him, or forgive and forget? Maybe he’s changed.
But … what if all the rumors are true?
Photographer Tricia Carlisle inherits her beloved grandmother’s orchard and leaves Chicago for her Texas roots, steeling herself to be immune to the charms of the small town—and those of Travis Walker, who stood her up on prom night seven years ago. Worse, she arrives only to find Nana’s place is in foreclosure. To have any hope of saving it, Tricia has no choice but to sell down assets—including her grandfather’s crop duster.
Travis Walker loses his last true friend when Nana Carlisle passes. Will his handshake deal to buy her crop duster survive now that Tricia is taking over? She’s cash-strapped and probably still hates his guts. He needs that plane—it’s his ticket out of this small town that sees him as a crook—but it’s on Tricia’s radar now.
Fly Boy is a steamy, stand-alone second-chance novella in the All-American Boy Series. It’s set in Deacon, Texas—home to sexy country boys and sassy, tough women. Warm, lazy afternoons in a hammock and swimming holes in a shady creek. Hot, heavenly Tex-Mex and even hotter kisses.
Come on down, y’all!
Tell us a secret!
Let us in on a few secrets about your book. We’d love to know more.
- The airport Travis is based out of, Deacon Intergalactic, is modeled after one of the tiny country airports I flew in and out of when training for my pilot’s license.
- The “secret language of dogs” which Travis explains to Tricia is based on an actual study of which dogs make a man seem family-oriented vs a rebel, which breed makes the woman seem more likely to agree to a one-night stand, etc. And the poodle, Bella, is named after a Bella owned by one of my friends.
- After writing about the pomegranates and figs in Tricia’s orchard, I bought a couple of my own. So next year, I can make my OWN Pomeritas! I did the same with lemons and cucumbers after writing my Helios series, which is set in Greece.
- I love goats! We had them growing up, and so it was fun to put a couple of babies into Tricia’s photo shoot—to Travis’ chagrin.
Fill us in on a quirk or background info about your main character that you might not have revealed in the book.
Raised by her grandmother, Tricia is determined to save the farm she inherits—even though the method she chooses will set her up for gossip and scandal in her hometown.
What quirk of your own is written into one of your characters?
Ha! I’m a decent cook, but the birthday cake fail in New Heights, where the heroine forgot to add an ingredient, is straight out of my kitchen. I’m still not allowed to make cornbread.
Without naming names, tell us about a character quirk that is patterned after someone you know.
The town gossip in Fly Boy, Beula Mae, is an amalgam of several people I’ve known, from growing up in a small Southern town.
A secret about you: What flaw makes you a better writer?
I’m a bit of a masochist—not the sort who wants physical pain, but I do tend to set myself challenges in writing: to make a sex scene that’s out of the ordinary, to write a Deaf character as a heroine, to give my tough guy heroes a softer quirk that would embarrass them if it got out.

Chloe is a military physician-turned-novelist who writes the things she loves to read: steamy, fun stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, smart women and men who aren’t jerks. About friendships, whether it’s close women or a good bromance. She wants all the feels: the thrill of a smoldering gaze or the barest brush of fingertips, the shocked gasp at the underhanded villain, the angst of heartbreak, the joy of reunion, and of course, happily ever after!
Chloe enjoys delivering a sneak peek into intriguing scenarios, drawing from her background (military personnel, medicine, aviation) as well as other cultures like Greece. It’s fun to live vicariously and go sailing, diving, or rock climbing. A bit of danger always gets her going, so many of her Romances have a suspense subplot.
She loves humor and embarrassing situations!
Chloe hates to read the same old thing, with only the names and places changed, so her goal is to bring folks a fresh, fun, NEW story every time, with NO CLIFFHANGERS!
More than anything, she wants to craft a rollicking, great story readers can’t put down, one where love prevails in the end, one that will whisk people away from their own tribulations.

Play “Is it True” with I Sorta Do author Cheryl St.John @_cherylstjohn_ #RLFblog #SweetRomance
In Cheryl St John’s new sweet romantic comedy, I Sorta Do, an impulsive freelance photographer blackmails a buttoned-up father of two into spending a week as her make-believe husband in order to impress her old high school classmates. Sparks fly—and ignite.
Cheryl, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.
I Sorta Do by Cheryl St John
Genre: sweet romantic comedy
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Husband needed: One week commitment. Children optional.
I, Francie Karr, take you, Ryan MacNair, in bogus matrimony to convince my grandma and high school reunion class that I’m blissfully married—you provide the kids. A week should do it. You pledge to be so irresistible that you charm the Spanx right off those stuck-up gossips. Your touches should make their eyes pop, and your kisses be so intoxicating that we don’t have to fake that part.
Oh, and we promise not to let this family—or this electricity between us—feel real.
Is it true:
this is your first book?
No. I’ve written nearly sixty books in both historical and contemporary genres.
this book is part of a series?
Yes. I Sorta Do is Book #20 in the multi-author Aspen Gold Series. Each book can be read stand alone or readers can enjoy them in order. The authors’ various styles and voices add to the intriguing character of the series.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
No. This story was a lot of fun to write. It was published previously in 1999 as a Harlequin Duet. I had rights reverted and recently updated the manuscript and changed the setting and names to bring the story into Spencer, Colorado for the Aspen Gold Series. There weren’t even cell phones in the original story!
you did research for this book?
Yes. I always research jobs for my characters. Francie is a freelance photographer and Ryan works for a museum in Chicago. I actually did a lot of research for the costumes the family wears to the high school reunion dance.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
Yes. Francie has a cat that she leaves with a sitter for the trip to her home town.
this book has more than one genre?
No. It’s romantic comedy. To me, that’s one genre.
you speak more than one language?
No. Not unless you count baby talk and fluent pig-latin.
you grew up where you live now?
Yes. I wasn’t born in Nebraska, but I was born across the state border and have lived here my whole life. I’ve seen a lot of changes in my city over the years!
you love to read?
Yes. Absolutely. I fell in love with books at a young age. As a kid it was a pleasure to check out books from the school library. I was lost over the summer when school was out. I made it a point as a parent and grandparent to take all my kids to the public library, get them library cards and enroll them in summer reading programs. Oh, the places they can go!
you are never late?
Yes. I’m way better than I used to be though. But I’m kind of right on the nose — my hubby likes to be early.
you love pizza?
No. I’m not a pizza fan, but every once in a while, I like a Pizza Hut original pan crust pizza.
you love sushi?
No. Whoever thought raw fish was a good idea is troubled.
you have a pet?
No. Over the years we’ve had cats, dogs, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, birds, fish and turtles. As empty nesters, we like to pick up and go—and we both appreciate not taking a dog out in the rain or snow at night.

Is It True: Alpha Mine by Brenda Sparks @brenda_sparks #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance
He stood stone still, wrapped in the darkness of the shadows… Alpha Mine, by Brenda Sparks, a PNR novel in the Alpha Council Chronicles.
Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Brenda Sparks. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.
Alpha Mine by Brenda Sparks
Genre Paranormal Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
In the shadows of the night, there exists a band of warriors–a group of vampires, known as the Alpha Council. Their formidable leader, Stephan von Haas, has vowed to protect not only his kind but the humans existing alongside them. His duty comes before all else–until a sassy blonde saunters into his life.
When a sensual, dark-haired stranger walks into Katrina Spencer’s life, he stirs her deepest desires and sweeps her into a world beyond her wildest dreams. But when Katrina is targeted by Stephan’s enemies, reality shifts into something violent and deadly, as she is thrust into a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and vengeance is coming for her.
Together they will confront an extraordinary destiny of peril, passion, and dark pleasures. But when one horrid mistake brings retribution, their love may pay the price.
Is it true:
this is your first book?
Yes. This is the first book I published. It holds a dear place in my heart because I’ll never forget the feeling I had when my publisher offered me a contract for the story. The old saying is true…you never forget your first. 😉
this book is part of a series?
It is. Alpha Mine the first book in my Alpha Council Chronicles series.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Sleep? What is this thing called sleep? The heroes of this story invaded my dreams, especially Stephan. I’d wake in the middle of the night and have to get out of bed to write down a scene.
you did research for this book?
The research needed for this book was a lot of fun, because it is set in Las Vegas. I love it when I can set a story in a place I have not been before. It gives me a great excuse to take a vacation to a fun new place. Of course, I can’t share anything else about the research for Alpha Mine, because, after all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
There are vampires in this story, some are heroes, some are villains.
this book has more than one genre?
No. It is strictly a paranormal romance.
you speak more than one language?
I can understand a little Spanish, French, and sign language, but I speak English.
you grew up where you live now?
Unfortunately, no. I grew up in Virginia.
you love to read?
Absolutely! There is never enough time in a week to read, but I do it every chance I get. I’m a big fan of paranormal and historical romances.
you are never late?
I’m one of those people who feels like if I arrive 15 minutes ahead of schedule then I’m actually late. Being late is one of my biggest pet peeves.
you love pizza?
Ummm…yes!! I’m a wanna be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
you love sushi?
It’s not my thing, but I love watching the sushi chefs make it.
you have a pet?
I do not. We will be moving a great distance soon, so we have decided not to get another pet until after we move. I miss having a fur baby in the house but know that it would be difficult on one to make the move with us.

Brenda Sparks has always loved all things spooky and enjoys incorporating paranormal elements in her writing. She refuses to allow pesky human constraints to get in the way of telling the story. Luckily the only thing limiting her stories is her imagination. Her characters are strong, courageous, and she adores spending time with them in their imaginary world.
Her idea of a perfect day is one spent in front of a computer with a hot cup of coffee, her fingers flying over the keys to send her characters off on their latest adventure.
Brenda loves connecting with readers. To contact Brenda or for more information on her books, including excerpts, free reads, and more please visit her website.

Hi – I’m Ruth A Casie and I write historical and contemporary romance. You might be wondering what I’m about. Sit back and let me tell you.
I’m happiest when I’m telling stories either chatting in a group or writing them down. I love to put my hero and heroine in tough situations and dare them to work it out—together, always together. They haven’t disappointed. Oh, they complain but in the end their love and relationships are stronger than ever.
Here are five things you probably don’t know about me.
1. I filled my passport up in one year.
2. I have three series. The Druid Knight stories are a historical time travel series. The Stelton Legacy is historical fantasy about the seven sons of a seventh son. Havenport Romances are stories set in a small coast Rhode Island town. I also write stories in the connected world the Pirates of Britannia.
3. I did a rap to “How Many Trucks Can a Tow Truck Tow If a Tow Truck Could Tow Trucks.”
4. When I cook I dance.
5. My Sudoku book is in the bathroom. I’m not saying anything else about that.
My stories feature strong women and the men who deserve them, endearing flaws and all. Their stories will keep you turning the pages until the end. I hope my stories become your favorite adventures.
I’m a USA Today bestselling author.

A few years ago, Dee S. Knight began writing, making getting up in the morning fun. During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. That’s how Dee spends her days. Her nights? Well, she’s lucky that her dream man, childhood sweetheart, and long-time hubby are all the same guy, and nights are their secret.
After a while, Dee split her personality into thirds. She writes as Anne Krist for sweeter romances, and Jenna Stewart for ménage and shifter stories.
