The Ghost of Morley Manor by Tricia Schneider

    Genre: Historical Paranormal Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

When Alice Worthington’s father dies, he leaves Morley Manor and all his debt to her and her younger brother. Desperate to find a way to pay the creditors, Alice performs a séance to contact the spirit of the last man to have seen the jewels rumored to be hidden within her home.

Sir Nicholas, a two-hundred-year-old roguish ghost, strikes a bargain with Alice. Find his earthly remains and bury them in consecrated ground. Only then will he reveal the location of the hidden jewels. Alice agrees not knowing when the time comes, she must decide between saving her home or saving the soul of the charming ghost who haunts Morley Manor.

Why did you write this book?

I’ve always been fascinated by ghost stories. When I was a child, I read every book I could find involving ghosts. From hauntings to ghost-hunting to communicating with spirits, anything I could find. As an adult, I searched for paranormal romances with ghosts as characters, either main or secondary. Ghost romances are sometimes difficult to find, but I’ve always been entertained by these kinds of books. What could be more tragic and suspenseful than falling in love with a ghost? How can you make that relationship work? Where is their happily-ever-after? After reading all I could find, I decided to write my own. The Ghost of Morley Manor isn’t the first ghost romance I’ve written. In fact, I have several. I also doubt it will be the last!

What is your favorite genre to read?

Anything romance! As long as it has a happily-ever-after by the last chapter, I’ll read it. Within the romance genre, I’ve always leaned toward paranormal and gothic romances more than anything else. Mixing the supernatural with romance is totally my jam!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

There are so many favorites, but I think Jane Eyre is on the top of my list. She’s the main character of Charlotte Bronte’s novel, Jane Eyre. This wasn’t the first gothic romance I ever read, but it was one I fell in love with completely. Although there wasn’t a ghost in that novel, the story still gave that eerie, chilling feeling of mystery, suspense and terror. And I desperately wanted Jane to find her happily-ever-after with Mr. Rochester. They both deserved it.

What are you working on at the moment?

I have several shifter romances in the works as I’m continuing a series that I started about a year ago that got lost amid the chaos of the pandemic. I’m working on getting that series back on track. Plus, I’m outlining more alien romances for the future. I adore ghosts, but aliens and shifters are most definitely swoon-worthy, too! And I like to mix things up!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I don’t have a release date yet, but the extended version of Tempting Benjamin is nearly complete. I’ll probably have that out by the new year. That’s part of The Cougar Shifters series and was featured as a novella in a limited-edition boxed set last year.

I also have another ghostly romance short story called A Haunting for Christmas which will be featured in Tis the Season for Romance Anthology available in November 2021.

And I’m part of two shifter romance boxed set collections, Alpha Shifters Furever and Shifting Hearts, that will be releasing early in 2022.

Answer the call, because this Halloween, not all the costumes are disguises.

Tell us about yourself as a person.

    What is your personality type?

I’m an introvert with extrovert tendencies. I know, it probably doesn’t make sense. When I was a kid, I was painfully shy with people. I was quiet and didn’t talk much. After I began working at Waldenbooks, I was forced into a situation where I had to talk to people to sell them books. I discovered the art of conversation and it’s a skill I’m grateful to have learned. Now, I can talk to anyone about anything, but I still prefer to keep to myself. I love to socialize, but I also love to be alone.

What was your favorite childhood game?

I spent many nights with my family playing boardgames and card games. Some of my favorites were Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble. Each of these games were difficult since I was no older than 11 years old, but I still loved them. They were challenging, and I love challenges. Also, Uno and Pokeno. My grandfather was fun to play any card game with as he always made me laugh myself silly.

What is your favorite subject to talk about?

I’m a mother of four children, so anything about kids is probably my easiest topic to talk about. Anyone with children can go on and on about their kids! But I love learning and sharing things I learned, so I have many interests such as books and literature, TV shows and movies, history, science, art, quantum physics, religion, and the supernatural. But not math. I don’t want to talk about math. Especially common core math. *shudders*

With Halloween right around the corner, my favorite topic at the moment is the supernatural! If you ever want to strike up a conversation with me, tell me your ghost stories! I love, love, love talking about the paranormal. Give me ghosts, cryptids, vampires, werewolves, witches and spells, aliens and UFO’s. Anything that has a mysterious supernatural element to it. I will talk about it all! I have my own interesting stories to share and I belong to a few paranormal groups with like-minded people. Too many strange and unexplainable things have happened during my life, so rest assured, I am a believer!

    What is your favorite book?

Nope. Can’t narrow it down to just one. Skip!

    What is your favorite meal?

Grilled salmon with rice and vegetables. Oh, it’s delicious! I could eat this every day. Don’t forget to follow that meal with dessert! A nice warm brownie covered with mocha ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry on top. Heaven!

Tell us about yourself as a writer

Meet Tricia Schneider @TriciaSchneider Author of A Cursed All Hallows’ Eve #RLFblog #PNR #Halloween2020

What made you want to be a writer?

I must have been born reading. I don’t ever remember not having books in my home. Even the pictures I drew when I was a child all had stories to tell. I never wanted to be a writer, I just am. It’s a part of me. I always wrote for fun. In a creative writing class during my senior year in high school, my teacher urged me to consider publication. He believed I had talent. It was the first time in my life that I thought of writing as a possible career choice.

What are your favorite books for writing advice?

I’ve got a couple of these which you can find if you check out my Goodreads bookshelf labeled writing-reference.

How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author by Janet Evanovich

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

The Writer’s Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers by Christopher Vogler

Complete Writer’s Guide to Heroes and Heroines: Sixteen Master Archetypes by Tami D. Cowden

GMC: Goal, Motivation and Conflict: The Building Blocks of Good Fiction by Debra Dixon

Any of Chris Fox’s Write Faster, Write Smarter series

    Any of Joanna Penn’s books

What’s your best advice for a new writer?

Read. Read. Read. There’s so much you can learn by simply reading the kinds of books that you want to write. Never stop reading. And don’t give up!

What are your writing goals for the next year or so?

I’ve recently joined a writer’s group on Facebook that has inspired me to push my writing abilities. In that group, I’ve joined several multi-author boxed sets. For 2021, I’m all about writing shifters and alien romances. Between my own series and the stories that I’m writing for the boxed sets, it’s going to be a busy, busy year! I’m looking forward to it!

Fiction Furbaby: Meet Charlie from Running Haunted by Effrosyni Moschoudi @FrostieMoss @RobsRescues #Ghost #RLFblog #PetsEffrosyni Moschoudi, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We support all furbabies, real life or fictional. We want to know all about your Fiction Furbaby, but first, please tell us about Running Haunted — and the ghost.

    Running Haunted by Effrosyni Moschoudi

Genre paranormal romantic comedy (with a ghost!)

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G

Kelly ran a marathon… and wound up running a house. With a ghost in it.

Kelly Mellios is a stunning, athletic woman, who has learned–the hard way–to value herself. Having just finished her first marathon in the alluring Greek town of Nafplio, she bumps into Alex, a gorgeous widower with three underage children, who is desperately looking for a housekeeper.

The timing seems perfect, seeing that Kelly aches to start a new life, and Nafplio seems like the ideal place to settle down. She accepts the position on the spot, but little does she know that Alex’s house has an extra inhabitant that not even the family knows about…

The house is haunted by Alex’s late wife, who has unfinished business to tend to. By using the family pet, a quirky pug named Charlie, the ghost is able to communicate with Kelly and asks her for help. She claims she wants to ensure her loved ones are happy before she departs, but offers very little information about her plans.

Kelly freaks out at first, but gradually finds herself itching to help. It is evident there’s room for improvement in this family… Plus, her growing attraction towards Alex is overpowering.

Will Kelly do as the ghost bids? How will it affect her? And just how strange is this pug?

“Another charming book from Effrosyni. Read it, and you’ll be transported to Greece & never look at a dog the same way again!” ~Just Me.Mo, Amazon UK reviewer

“A fast-paced original story with attention to detail and engaging dialog. A heartfelt emotional read, with family love, romance and a lovable ghost. I highly recommend it.” ~Sheri Wilkinson, Amazon US reviewer

Meet Charlie (not the ghost) from Running Haunted

    Full name: Charlie
    Nickname: None
    Gender: Male
    Species: Pug
Physical description: Young, agile, playful, but quirky. Known to freeze occasionally, eyes glazing over, when his deceased Mommy speaks to him…
Relationship to main character: Kelly is hired to run the house Charlie lives in.

Relationship to the villain/antagonist: The antagonist, Stella, lives next door. She doesn’t care for dogs!

Where this furbaby came from: Charlie has been with the family since he was a baby.

What inspired you to create this character?

I wanted Lauren, the spirit in the story, to have some kind of medium at her disposal so she can communicate with Kelly. When I thought that her beloved dog (from when she was alive in the house) could play that part, I quickly decided on a pug, because I wanted the dog to be both goofy and quirky. Pugs have such unique faces that could easily be imagined by the reader as cute and hilarious when needed, plus, they’re great with children too. It was an easy choice!

What does the main character think about this furbaby?

Fiction Furbaby: Meet Charlie from Running Haunted by Effrosyni Moschoudi @FrostieMoss @RobsRescues #Ghost #RLFblog #PetsAt first, Kelly is cautious because Charlie barks at her and generally is difficult to handle seeing that he has never been walked or properly trained. Soon, though, the two become inseparable, especially since the pug proves very effective in helping her communicate with the ghost spirit that haunts the house!

How do other characters react to or interact with this furbaby?

Alex, Kelly’s boss and love interest, has a soft spot for Charlie because his deceased wife used to adore him from when he was a puppy. His three underage boys also love Charlie, and he makes everyone laugh with his antics. The youngest of the boys, Tommy, has a special bond with the dog. The two of them are always together in the house, and even at night, Charlie never leaves the boy’s bedroom. Secretly from the others, the pug brings him fashion jewelry items that belonged to Tommy’s mother, and the boy puts them on the pug when they play together in his room.

What does this furbaby add to the story?

Charlie is haunted by the spirit of Lauren and his character is key for the spirit’s communication with the heroine, Kelly. Kelly is able to hear the spirit’s voice and even see her face in the mirror sometimes, but only when the pug is around! That’s why she likes to keep the dog close to her. As the story unfolds, Kelly becomes determined to help everyone with their individual problems by following the spirit’s advice to the letter. And this could never be possible without good old Charlie tagging along!

What about this furbaby will readers like, and why?

His goofiness, his playfulness, and his occasional naughtiness. In one scene, he even gives Kelly a little bite but he has a good reason! I also think the readers will love Charlie’s fondness for Kelly, which grows as the story progresses, reflecting the gradual strengthening of the bond of friendship between Kelly and the ghost.

Please share an interesting fact or tidbit about this furbaby.

Since Lauren died, Charlie doesn’t let anyone sit at the head of the dining table. He growls and barks whenever someone makes a move to sit on it. When Lauren was alive, she used to sit there holding Charlie in her lap as she ate her meals with the family…

Describe a humorous incident involving the animal character.

During the early days of Kelly’s presence in the house, she was carrying the washing in the laundry basket one morning to take it outside and hang the clothes on the line. Charlie followed her to the front gate and started barking loudly and jumping about. When she opened the door, house keys in hand, he caused a fuss trying to follow her outside and as she tried to stop him, the keys slipped off her hand. Quick as a flash, and presumably thinking this was a game, Charlie took the keys and bolted indoors. With Kelly standing outside at the time, the door slammed shut out of the blue, leaving her locked out and feeling quite miserable for a while (until a kindly neighbor came to the rescue!)

    About Loulou

Which, if any of the pets in your writing are modeled after your own pets? In what way?

I used to be a dog person and thus wound up featuring only dogs in my novels so far. That changed last year when I saved a female young cat from the street which I named Loulou (short for ‘louloudi’, which is Greek for ‘flower’). She’s such a gentle soul, all paws and not a claw in sight when I interact with her, and she made me a cat person in no time. This means I will inevitably start featuring her in many ways in my future heroines’ lives.

What do your pets do when you are writing?

Loulou loves to doze off, always in the warmest/sunniest spots, naturally. She had a litter of four kittens three months ago, and I found loving homes for the three, keeping the fourth one as I fell in love with it. So now I have two cats and the little one (haven’t named it yet!) keeps Loulou entertained and busy all day. Loulou trains her baby in big and small ways every day, and they also wrestle a lot for fun. Sometimes, I can hear Loulou’s high-pitched protestations as I work, because the kitten likes to bite her ear and won’t let go. They’re both very playful seeing that Loulou is still very young herself – not even one year old yet, from what I can gather.

What’s the most unusual pet you ever had?

The most unusual pet I’ve ever had was a hamster, Romeo, who was very cuddly. I am sorry to say he passed away after just a few months of having him, quite suddenly too, and it was most upsetting. It put me right off getting another hamster, otherwise I’d definitely get another. I loved to place him flat on my outstretched palm and stroke his back as I watched TV on the sofa in the evenings. He would always fall asleep in no time, back legs stretched out hanging over the sides of my hand, and snoring loudly. He made me laugh so much, bless his little soul, and I still laugh when I think of the happy times. I always found the sight of him having a boiled pea absolutely delightful for some reason (I boiled a lot of peas at the time because of that, LOL)

Where did you find your pet?

My cat Loulou showed up in my garden one day and decided to stay. Later, I found out she had been born in the garden of a house nearby. At first, she was timid and very fearful. After feeding her a couple times, she let me touch her and pet her, and she never left the house ever since. She’s very vocal, which is so much fun, and we have the most hilarious conversations.

What do you feed your pet?

Kibble, and cat treats for extra vitamins. Occasionally, a tin of cat food, or leftovers that are safe for her to eat.

Describe a toy or favorite item your pet loves.

Loulou has no favorite item. All she seems to do whenever I see her is seek my hand. She’ll look up and meow, then sway her head from side to side until I pet her on the top of her head. It’s hilarious. Neediest cat in the world, and a little loopy, but I certainly don’t mind. I love her to bits! J

The charity started in 2003 when 8 puppies were found close to death in a dustbin. All were nursed back to health and subsequently, literally thousands of animals have been re-homed either in Greece, Germany, Austria and the UK.
CARE presently has a small shelter near Sidari, situated in the north of the Greek island of Corfu. Until she loses her teaching position and her well-ordered life gets turned upside down. Then, in a subtle stroke of whimsy, fate tosses her a gift in an historic home and property in Virginia.
Harboring visions of Gone With the Wind, she determines to use River Peace as a temporary reprieve from her troubles. Images of Tara quickly evaporate when she arrives to discover the reality of her inheritance, however.

Aaron Belton meets Margaret when she first arrives in Virginia. He’s renowned for historic renovations on a multitude of properties, but he’s got a special place in his heart for River Peace. He and his family believe the property always should have belonged to them. In fact, Aaron will do almost anything to make that happen. When his passion for the house changes to a passion for the house’s owner, Aaron’s as surprised as anyone. Can he gain both? To do so, he’ll have to face a spectral being.
    And his own destiny.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…
I write all romance, but some sub-genre: ménage, futuristic space romp, paranormal, shifter, historical. But most of what I do is contemporary.
How do you come up with ideas?…
Um…coming up with ideas is so easy. Too easy, lol! I take a drive and get my mind doing something different, listen to country music, and voila! Getting those ideas and organized into cohesion and then typing them up is the harder part.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?…
Making sure my idea is filled out and feels real. I want the reader to have a “take-me-away” feeling while reading my books, so it must seem like an actual experience. That’s most important to me.
When did you write your first book?…
I wrote Impatient Passion in September 2002. Loved that book! It was published by Liquid Silver Publishing February 14, 2003.

Stressing Aaron Belton from Passionate Destiny @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #romance #paranormalromance #PNRLet’s meet Aaron Belton from Passionate Destiny, a paranormal erotic romance, by Dee S Knight. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your latest book.

Passionate Destiny by Dee S Knight

    Genre Paranormal erotic romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Margaret Amis-Hollings moves to an old house in Virginia, never suspecting a ghost has first dibs. Soon her life is intertwined with a soldier from long ago and with his descendant, Aaron. Living with a ghost is one thing. Dealing with Aaron is quite another. They share the present; they might share a past. Do they share a destiny?

    Stressing Aaron Belton

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.
Please tell me about your hero.
    Age: Mid-thirties
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Palmyra, Virginia
Profession: Former professor, now carpenter and historical restorer
    Ethnicity: Southern gentleman
    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters):
What does your hero look like?
Eyes were the darkest blue, hair the deepest black, teeth the whitest white. And straight. Over 6 feet, muscular due to hard work and not a gym. Dimples.
Who is the significant other in his life?
Margaret Amis-Hollings, new owner of River Peace.

    The Hero’s Relaxed Side

This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.
Relaxed backyard barbecue, with all the fixings and beer to drink. He likes smaller groups with close friends and easy conversation.
How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?
He’ll spend some time playing with the children running around, stand around the grill with the guys and shoot the breeze, and later sprawl in a deck chair at the fire pit holding hands with Margaret. He’s casual and comfortable, but also ready to help out when needed.
Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
He’ll mingle and mix. Even in more formal situations he wouldn’t be allof. He’s very comfortable with who he is.
If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?
Beer. And not a fancy foreign brand. He’ll try a local microbrewery, but his usual choice is simply a Sam Adams or a Bud.
How much drink is his usual?
Aaron cares too much for family and friends to drink much. He’d never take a chance on hurting anyone through word or action by drinking too much. He might have a couple of beers but he’s just as happy with sweet tea.
The hero figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
He wouldn’t go to hide or to avoid anyone. And he wouldn’t go to drag someone back. He might go to check to be sure they’re okay—and in the case of youngsters, to be sure they aren’t getting ready to make trouble. ;)
Is he likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is he the friend that others latch onto?
He’s definitely the guy others migrate to. He’s intelligent and with a good sense of humor. Aaron is generally a really great guy but in his mind he’s just normal.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero going to handle it?
He’ll break it up. If the fight is verbal, he’ll try to calm things down by changing the subject. If the fight is physical, he’s big enough and strong enough to step in and force the combatants apart. At the kinds of parties he attends, there are often children around. Aaron wouldn’t put up with bad behavior around his kids or Margaret.
Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
He would definitely do the tossing.
Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
Nope, he’s a family man—and he was even before he met Margaret because he has parents and siblings nearby. He won’t stay late.

    The Hero’s Stressed Out Side

How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?
He might be exasperated but he’ll be polite and rational. He’s a scientist and engineer and staying calm and rational is part of his personality.
How does the hero react to hearing a scream?
He rushes to discover the cause.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
    Stopping the brutality.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
He won’t hesitate to stop one person assaulting another. And if it’s a woman—or certainly a child—bearing the brunt of someone else’s anger, he’s likely to be a bit forceful when stopping the assaulter. Just to be sure he (she) stops acting badly, you understand.
This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?
Aaron doesn’t just fight with his fists, he fights with his intelligence, too. So first he makes sure the person he’s tried to rescue is away. Then he might try a fast escape himself. He’s no fool. Staying to fight a battle he can’t win if the first victim is gone, if not smart.
The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does he do?
He’s polite but not friendly. If things go too far he’ll be a bit terse and as soon as he can he’ll escape the situation.
Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
Aaron isn’t one to jump in and undermine someone else. If he can he’ll speak to the younger person privately or he’ll deal with things as best he can without making a scene. On the other hand, he won’t be taken advantage of by being in an awkward situation. If things pass the point of politeness, he’ll excuse himself.
The hero is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell himself in order to get through the situation?
“It’s all mind over matter. Get the job done and then you can rest.”
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“You can do whatever you have to do.”
What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?
Aaron has lived a pretty charmed life. He hasn’t had many upsets and no disasters that teach the hard lessons. But he recognizes that not all things are equal or fair. He changed his life in order to help make things as fair as possible for his family and community.
What one thing would you like readers to know about your hero?
He’s a really good guy. Margaret describes him as looking like Superman and he kind of fits the mold. There are some genuinely good people in the world, and Aaron is one of them. But he’s still fun and interesting. And sexy ;)

During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. Writing was so much fun Dee decided to keep at it. That’s how she spends her days. Her nights? Well, she’s lucky that her dream man, childhood sweetheart, and long-time hubby are all the same guy, and nights are their secret.

Bucket list of Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings from Passionate Destiny @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #paranormal #PNRLet’s meet Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings from Passionate Destiny, a paranormal erotic romance by Dee S Knight. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Passionate Destiny by Dee S Knight

    Genre Paranormal erotic romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings, professor of women’s studies at a small New Jersey college, is a woman who confidently knows who she is and what she expects of life.
River Peace has history, grace and style going for it. After only one night, Margaret discovers that it also has a ghost. She’s visited by a male spirit from the time of the War Between the States, who knows how to make a woman feel special. And very loved, indeed.
When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”
    Age: Early 30s—a woman’s prime
    Gender: Proudly female
    Birthplace: New Jersey
    Profession: Professor of Women’s Studies
    Ethnicity: Yankee
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I have auburn hair that is (sadly) curly and nearly untamable, blue eyes, and a slim 5’8″ frame.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Until recently, I taught as a full professor at a college in New Jersey. Due to cut backs, they did away with the Women’s Studies courses (can you imagine??) and I found myself wondering how I would make ends meet. Wouldn’t you know, that very week I received notice from a lawyer in Virginia that a relative I didn’t know had left me a mansion in Virginia. Now, even a feminist can be a little romantic now and then, so naturally I imagined Tara, or something close. But my natural realistic tendencies took over when I saw the poor old, dilapidated structure River Peace really was. However, I can be stubborn and demanding, and I soon determined who would do the work so I could sell the place. After all, the little berg in central Virginia where the house was located was not for me. The pace was too slow, the people were too nosy (some would say friendly, but they would be wrong), and the whole state not New Jersey. Does that tell you enough?
Who is the significant other in your life?
At one time I was married to Jackson Hollings, a colleague at my college with an unfortunate penchant for teaching assistants. Now I have a strong attraction for the man making the repairs on my house, Aaron Belton. My God! The man is attractive in a visceral way. But strange. Very strange. He gave up a professorship at a nearby prestigious university in order to work on old houses. The sex is great but the man is a little weird.
If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.
    What is your birth order?

    Only child.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
A doll but even as a child I never liked Barbie, who exemplifies the physical side of a woman instead of her mind and accomplishments. In my opinion, every Barbie should come with a big, fat pimple on her chin and love handles to remind girls that even so-called beautiful women have real life to deal with.
Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.
Thank God I have a high metabolism because I like almost all food. I do stay away from fried food, however. That is, I did until Aaron took me to the diner in town. Southerners do have a way with fried chicken, don’t they? Best I’ve ever had!
Tell us about your best friend.
I guess before he cheated on me, my husband would have been my best friend. Jackson is a real charmer, and I’m not unaware of them even now that we’re divorced. He’s a great teacher and a lot of fun. He also has a fine mind and a challenging way about him, always keeping me on my toes. He’s attractive (though not in Aaron’s league), and I always enjoyed being on his arm when we went out. Weirdly, Jackson’s also a bit of a gossip, and all of my girlfriends loved being around him. He mixes well with men or women—is that strange?
What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
Truthfully, until coming to Virginia, I never saw much reason to leave New Jersey. We have the shore and mountains close by in Pennsylvania. New York City isn’t far from where I lived and neither is the countryside. I had everything I thought a person could want, all within a hundred miles of my home, so why pay good money to go anywhere else? Now, with Aaron, there are any number of places I’d like to see. He gives everything a new perspective. I would like to explore how women lived in the past (maybe Rome or Greece) and the present (Peru, maybe, or Tanzania). I feel like the world has opened for me after moving just a few hundred miles south.
Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?
Aaron and I recently visited Haiti for one of Aaron’s consulting jobs. The poverty was so overwhelming. It made me feel helpless and determined to make some kind of difference at the same time.
Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?
Queen Elizabeth. People make fun of her for some reason, but she’s set the standard for how to live a decent, good life in public service, through good times and bad. And to serve as queen for all these years you know she has to have a backbone.
Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?
Any boorish man who thinks he knows what’s best for a woman.
If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
1920. I would be among the first women able to vote for president of the Unites States.

    About Dee S Knight

A few years ago, Dee S Knight began writing, making getting up in the morning fun. During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. Writing was so much fun Dee decided to keep at it. What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

I’m not sure what the biggest challenge (problem) was exactly, but I almost didn’t finish it. I started it in February and by November, I said to myself that if I didn’t finish by Thanksgiving I was going to virtually shove it under the bed with the dust bunnies. Fortunately I had a small mercy to be thankful for because I sent it to Liquid Silver the week before the holiday. From when I started to when I finished, I wrote one other whole book and several novellas, just because I couldn’t get off the dime with Margaret and Aaron. I’m so happy I did finish because Passionate Destiny has almost all 5 rated reviews and was a Top Pick in Romantic Times magazine!

Why did you choose this character for the interview today?

I’ve always liked Margaret. She was based on my boss when I worked in New Jersey, and if he read the book he would immediately know. I loved working for Joe and I like to think that I gave Margaret some of his character that made her spunky and sassy. It’s been a while since Passionate Destiny was released and I’d like to do a bit more with it.

Are any sequels planned for this book?

When the book came out I was asked to write a sequel but usually when I finish writing a book I ‘m ready to put the characters away. Since then I’ve thought about a sequel and even a prequel. Virginia has such a rich history that it would be easy to draw from for another book or two with Margaret, Aaron and their families.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

That I was a professional editor for training materials—pretty boring stuff! It made writing fiction a good release in the evenings.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?

Thank you! I’ve appreciated your support over the years and now!!
