    Lyrical Embrace by Amber Daulton

    Genre Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Out-of-work violinist Erica Timberly decides enough is enough. She leaves her abusive boyfriend and flees the big city, but then her car breaks down in the middle of the night. Though wary of men, she accepts help from Dylan Haynes, a stranger driving by on the road, and soon recognizes him as the sexy former drummer of her favorite indie rock band. Maybe, just maybe, her run of bad luck is finally turning around.

Music teacher Dylan Haynes knows Erica is in trouble, and her black eye is only the first clue. The stubborn yet vulnerable woman needs a friend, but he’s determined to give her everything she deserves.

Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?

    Stressing Dylan Haynes

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.

Please tell me about your hero.

    Age: 25

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: Willow Springs, Vermont

Profession: Music Teacher; Ex-Drummer for a rock band

    Ethnicity: Caucasian

What does your hero look like?

He’s about six feet tall with short, spiky brown hair and blue eyes. He keeps in good shape because he’s a volunteer firefighter, so he has to be quick when disaster strikes. He has a sexy red dragon tattoo on his left arm, and it twists around his biceps. Erica loves licking it!

Who is the significant other in his life?

Erica Timberly is the perfect woman for him. She’s strong, beautiful, and stubborn, but vulnerable too. She’s an excellent violinist and loves music just as much as he does. After all the crap she’s gone through, she’s still trusting and kind. She loves with her whole heart, and Dylan is damn glad she picked him.

    The Hero’s Relaxed Side

This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.

When Dylan lived in New York City, he went to wild parties all the time. Nowadays, back home in Vermont, he doesn’t live and breathe that crazy lifestyle anymore. If he and Erica went to the city for a concert or to go clubbing, he would probably run into some old drinking buddies or hangers-on from when he was performing with his band, Fortune’s Glory. Under pressure, he’d go to the party and see people drinking, snorting drugs in the living room, or having sex in backrooms.

How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?

He wouldn’t be happy about it and would feel embarrassed in front of Erica. He used to enjoy wild parties like that and wouldn’t want Erica’s good opinion of him to change. He’d stand around, all stiff, and probably wouldn’t talk a lot.

Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?

After a while, he’d try to mingle and make the best of a bad situation.

If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?

He’d keep it simple—just beer. He had a drinking problem back in the day and wouldn’t want to get wasted on whiskey or vodka.

How much drink is his usual?

Just one or two bottles. He doesn’t drink everyday.

The hero figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?

Once he calmed down and started loosening up, he’d probably take Erica to a closet and make out with her. Even though he’s a reformed bad boy, he’s still a little naughty.

If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero going to handle it?

Dylan would try to stay out of it. If someone picked a fight with him and he couldn’t resolve it with words, he’d punch the hell out of the other guy.

Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?

He’s pretty responsible and levelheaded, so he’d be doing the tossing.

Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?

Dylan is a polite guy, so he’d hit the road at a decent hour.

    The Hero’s Stressed Out Side

How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?

Dylan would try to stay calm and explain the situation.

How does the hero react to hearing a scream?

He’d investigate. He’s a volunteer fireman and a certified EMT, so it’s his job to help people.

If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?

    To help that person.

If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?

He’d rush in and break up the fight or assault.

This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?

Dylan would keep fighting for as long and as hard as he could, even though he knew he would probably end up in the hospital.

The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does he do?

He would talk in short, choppy sentences and swipe his hand through his hair, a lot.

Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?

He’d make suggestions but not take control of the situation because he wouldn’t want to embarrass the other guy. If lives were hanging in the balance, he would take over and do what had to be done, no matter what.

What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?

He lived a wild, crazy hound dog life a few years earlier, but he grew sick of it. He didn’t like the person he was becoming, so he quit the band and moved back home. He’s changed a lot since then, and he’s proud of the person he is now. Thinking about that would help him relax him and focus on the situation at hand.

Introducing Temms Rogers from Horizon Crossover series, by Lyndi Alexander #RLFblog #spaceopera #SciFiLet’s meet Temms Rogers from Horizon Crossover series, a space opera, by Lyndi Alexander. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about the story your author wrote.

Horizon Crossover series by Lyndi Alexander

    Genre science fiction, space opera
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G
In an attempt to save his ship and its crew, Captain Temms Rogers uses an untested alien technology which hurls the Doubtful and its occupants away from a massive space battle. Rogers awakens to find his ship crippled and his crew decimated. They are lost in an unknown region of space, but they are but not alone. As they struggle to survive, they encounter multiple local groups, including mystical beings known as the Ancients. Can Rogers and the crew of the Doubtful find a way to survive in this strange corner of the universe?
Rogers and the crew of the spaceship Doubtful are caught between a powerful interplanetary group called the Agency and mystical beings known as the Ancients.
With the voices of the Ancients haunting his dreams and a mysterious illness plaguing his crew, Rogers must find a derelict space station and discover its secrets before the Agency destroys them all.
The Agency is tired of Captain Rogers’ urging for democracy in their region of space. Rogers soon realizes the Agency intends to use him and the crew of the Doubtful for their purposes or else.
Can he gather the other captains of the sector in rebellion against the Agency, with all its echoes of his earlier battle against the Confederation, and bring down their repressive regime? Or will Rogers lead his crew into a fight they cannot win?

    Introducing Temms Rogers

    Please tell me about yourself.
    Age: 57

    Gender: male

    Birthplace: Planet Gilada

Profession: spaceship captain, formerly military, now mercenary

    Ethnicity: Descendant of western Europeans

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Human
    What do you look like?
Not too bad for a man of my age. But the years are creeping up on me, you know? A little thicker round the middle than I used to be. Hair more salt than pepper these days. But I earned every one of those gray hairs.
Who is the significant other in your life?
It was Kitana, my first officer. But she died in the Crossover to this universe. I’m still getting used to the idea she’s gone.
    How do you dress?
For so many years, I wore the Confederation uniform. Since I’ve broken with my old commanders, though, I’m just as likely to be seen commanding the ship in a bright-colored Hawaiian shirt and slacks.
    Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
I went through the basics at the Academy, then went on to study history and military tactics for an advanced certificate. But I tend to live by what I learned in practice on the deck of a spaceship. Most importantly, I’ve learned how to size up people. Just because they’ve been in trouble with the law, or failed by society’s rules, doesn’t mean they can’t become a valuable crew member. This is very important to me.
What is your viewpoint on wealth?
Wealth? As in great piles of money? Doesn’t really matter to me. My ex-wife Connie always competed in the officers’ wives chaos—who had the best personal vehicle, maids, proper landscaping, all that. But these days as long as I can keep my crew working and fed, I’m pretty happy. That is, until greedy taxing bodies like the Agency come along, trying to take an unfair percentage of what we’ve earned. Then I’ve just got to politely—or not so politely—decline.
Are you close to family? Do you have children?
I have twins, a boy and a girl, still in school, living with their mother. Our oldest son Tommy followed me into service with the Confederation. I don’t think his mother will ever forgive me.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
I’d love to see my daughter Linz. *with a sigh* She always was a little shallow; her mother encouraged that stuff about being fashionable regardless of the cost, about being a pretty butterfly rather than a smart student. But now that we’re in a new universe, I expect I’ll never see her or her twin brother Alex again.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most NOT want it to be, and why?
Jal Burko. He led the Confederation mission that hit my breaking point and caused our ship to rebel. The last thing I heard him say when we used the alien device to escape his vengeful attack was that he’d get me for this. As it stands, he may have followed me into this new universe. If so, I expect he won’t give up until one of us kills the other.

Meet Webmistress, Market Consultant and author Dee Carver @pmnp Owner of #PMInc #RLFblog #PNR

Dee Carver, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. For those who don’t know, Dee is also the webmistress on both my own site (click my name above) and on RLF. For this visit, she’s offering a special discount to readers. I’ll step back and let her take the wheel.

Hello Everyone! Kayelle, thank you for having me, it’s great to be back!

Meet Webmistress, Market Consultant and author Dee Carver @pmnp Author and Owner of #PMInc #RLFblog #PNR

The First Story | Marketing and Running a Business | Finally, The Author Returns

As some of you know I began this long journey as an author back in 2005, with my first book La Roe’s. It began with a dream about a dress, and though I can manipulate graphic images, I cannot draw very well. That is where my daughter, Amber, is the most talented. Since I could not draw the dress, I decided to describe it, which led to the woman wearing it. Then the scene came along, the people surrounding her, and why she was wearing it in the first place. Before I knew it, I had a short story about a wedding gown. My neighbor at the time asked me if I was going to finish telling the story and well, I guess that’s what Emerald (the heroine) wanted because I ended up with my first book.
I learned a few hard knocks with my first book, such as everyone needs an editor. Not every publishing house is a good one. Not every writing job is a bad one. Now, later in life, I look back and cringe…

    Marketing Crash Course

Like many authors, I had no idea what marketing was or that I was supposed to do anything about it. A friend, and fellow author, asked me a few poignant questions:
“Have you sent out for reviews?”

    “Have a website yet?”

“Do you have a Facebook account?”

    “Scheduled any interviews?”

Needless to say, the list went on and I learned a valuable lesson. There is a lot of work that comes after the book is published. Writing a book alone is simply not enough. I did blog hops, which helped. I wrote reviews, which also helped. I wrote articles for other companies which helped even more. All to grow my name, so when someone would search me on Google, I could be found. All the while, I spent time creating book trailers, doing interviews, and eventually writing my second story. Well, more like my second heroine told me her story.

After a few years of putting what I had learned towards helping others, a friend, Raven Starr, suggested that I start a business. I have to admit, I chuckled at first, but in 2008 I found myself opening Personalized Marketing Inc and never looked back. I was able to use the information on bad publishers and bad editing to guide authors towards making better choices. I learned White Hat SEO, when it was the only SEO that was being talked about, as well as other methods used for SEO, so we have been able to provide it for our clients. I also learned methods for Organic Growth before it became a ‘thing’. WordPress was even different back then.

The first website I had was a single page that may have been built inside of Word. (Yeah, I know…) However, I found other sites and I wanted one of those… Not only did I want one, I wanted to make one! I had to know how they did it. So, thanks to some Googling, I found a code viewer and it just clicked. I understood that certain lines of code made different things happen. Then came WordPress, which uses PHP, it’s a little different but after a learning curve, I began to see the codes just forming into the structures I wanted. When I began working with WordPress, we didn’t have auto installers or programs that auto connected databases and did auto backups. It was all manual and done with a lot of zip files. Sometimes I miss those days. Sometimes I miss just HTML and CSS or C++.
    Cindy: pst, Dee, you’re geeking
In 2017 Cindy came on board, we ended up with not only a skilled editor but also a talented digital artist.
Ahh but the coder and owner is getting carried away and the author must take precedence…

    Finally, The Author Returns

Meet Webmistress and Market Consultant Dee Carver @pmnp Author and Owner of #PMInc #RLFblog #PNRA few years ago, I decided to get back to writing, not for other websites or companies but for myself. I thought about the 3rd book, Chocolate Seductions, which I had written but never did anything with, other than one submission. The submission went well, they just wanted a 3rd person P.O.V. So, I thought about it, talked with a couple of friends, tried my hand at it and about made myself sick. I can write 3rd person all day long in business communications, papers, articles, emails, even books that are not mine or not the heroines in my head.
These lovely stubborn ladies, well, they just didn’t want a sideline view of their lives being handed out as though they were not the ones telling their stories. I love to read 3rd P.O.V. stories as well as 1st P.O.V., I enjoy a strong male lead, I enjoy getting to know what is inside of the other characters heads as well. My favorites though have always been those that take you deep inside, that weave a story so well that you feel as though the movie is playing out inside your head. That, even though you are satisfied at the end of the book, you still wish it hadn’t ended because you just did not want to let that character go.
However, after that gut-wrenching experience, I put my stories away again. Then in 2018 I decided with the help of Cindy, that I was going to produce these books, with the editing they deserved. With the call to finish the stories I had begun so long ago; La Roe’s has been re-released with a much better editing job than the original. Cindy has Fay’s Wish, which hopefully does not require as much of an editing job as the first book, we’ll see. Ambrosia, from Chocolate Seductions, has been poking me lately, giving me glimpses into her back story that I don’t really remember from before, which oddly enough is making Grant a little more likeable. One thing about being a 1st P.O.V. panster, I never know where these ladies are going to take me until I get there. It’s great, because I get a new story, but also really frustrating when I thought something else was supposed to happen instead.

I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We support all furbabies, real life or fictional. We want to know all about your Fiction Furbaby, but first, please tell us about your book.

Lord Corsair by Sydney Jane Baily

    Genre Victorian
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
Miss Beryl Angsley, relishing a final few months of freedom before marriage, accompanies her father across the globe on a mission of diplomacy only to find herself kidnapped by Chinese pirates in the South China Sea.
British privateer, Philip Carruthers, on a secret undertaking for Queen Victoria, has at last found the treasure he’s sought for two years. Unfortunately, he also finds a captive Englishwoman.
Duty-bound to rescue her, he risks his ship, his crew, and his cat to return Lady Angsley to her father. In the midst of a dangerous world of pistols and plunder, Captain Carruthers goes from privateer to pirate in order to steal the heart of a lady.

    Meet Leo from Lord Corsair

    Full name: Leo, the Cat
    Nickname: Leo
    Gender: Male
    Species: Domestic Short Hair
    Physical description: Stout, orange tabby
Relationship to main character: Loyal friend, shipmate, and helper to Lord Corsair
Relationship to the villain/antagonist: Attacks villain to save heroine
Where this furbaby came from: Belonged to Lord Corsair’s twin brother who died in a carriage accident
Do you have any working or service animals in your stories? Tell us about them.
Leo is a working crewmember, keeping the mouse population down onboard ship, as well as happily jumping onto both enemy vessels and enemies in general.
What inspired you to create this character?
My own dear cat, Leo, part Maine Coon, whom I found under a lilac bush one harsh winter. A gentle soul, to be sure but fierce when necessary.
What does the main character think about this furbaby?
Lord Corsair inherited his brother’s cat upon his twin’s death. He has mixed emotions but wouldn’t part with him for anything. Grudgingly admires the cat, but is occasionally at the receiving end of the cat’s temper.
What does the villain/antagonist think about this furbaby?
My villains do not like cats! Leo vanquishes one particular bad guy in an alley.
How do other characters react to or interact with this furbaby?
Leo takes to Beryl, our heroine, as soon as she boards ship, much to Lord Corsair’s amazement.
What does this furbaby add to the story?
Warmth and humor, and Leo shows us the hero’s softer side. Also, without Leo, the heroine might have met a terrible end.

    About Your Pet’s Name

Fiction Furbaby: Meet Leo from Lord Corsair by Sydney Jane Baily @SydneyJaneBaily @RobsRescues #RLFblog #PetsThis post is called Fiction Furbaby, but perhaps your own pet does not have fur. If you have a pet that has fins, wings, scales, or other features, please tell us about them here.
I currently have one rescue dog, Perry, from Tennessee, and one tuxedo cat, Sabby, whom we adopted from a shelter. We used to have four cats, but sadly, the others have passed away. These two get along well by ignoring each other mostly.
Which, if any of the pets in your writing are modeled after your own pets? In what way?
Leo from Lord Corsair was definitely modeled after my real-life cat, Leo, though my Leo wouldn’t have been happy leaving home or going on adventures, except in the back yard.
What do your pets do when you are writing?
Perry is under my desk right now. Sabby is a cat, meaning she does whatever she wants whenever she wants.
Describe a toy or favorite item your pet loves.
    Perry, any tennis ball
Sabby, leave me alone, I’m a cat.

Daughter of the Deepwood by Holly Bargo

Lifetime imprisonment for an immortal doesn’t bear consideration. As cold iron burns his skin and dampens his magic, fae captain Falco wrenches power and freedom from the broken body of another prisoner—a witchbreed female—tossed into his cell to make room for a new harvest of criminals. Honor and obligation mandate that he not abandon her.
Unable to heal her extensive injuries, he takes the dying witchbreed to the heart of the Great Forest where the most ancient magic lives. His plea granted, the woman is remade of a blend of his blood, her flesh, and deep magic. Bound by his debt, Falco takes Calista as his mate when he returns home to Froúrio Daimónafae, a sentient fortress-city carved from a mountain. Although he regrets his intended fae mate’s anger, his increasing affection and desire for his witchbreed mate surprise him.
Lost in a foreign culture, spurned by the fae, her body unfamiliar to her, and unable to believe in Falco’s professed affections, Calista makes her own destiny and realizes the fate of an unfriendly nation rests upon her shoulders.
