Huntsville, Texas; and an EdD from Texas A&M University, College Station,
Texas; then worked as a teacher and administrator in the Texas Public School
system. Only after retirement could she fulfill the dream of publication.Brenda and her husband make their home in beautiful East
Texas where they enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and

Why did you write
this book?Since elementary school I’ve had a desire to write stories,
but a family and career took precedent over my ambitions to be a writer. After
retirement, I became interested in genealogy and followed my family line to

is a result of research into my Scots heritage and Scotland’s history.What is your favorite
genre to read?My favorite genres to read are historical romance and
historical fiction. History is one of my teaching fields, and I enjoy reading

character from fiction (not including your own)?My favorite character from fiction is Elizabeth Bennet from

on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?I am working on a novella prequel to A Highland Pearl, the
first book in the Highland Treasures series. The novella tells the story of the

When you do something effortlessly and people commend you continuously,
you have found your gift.That’s what I tell people all the time. And it’s true.I get story. I always have. I started writing when I was eight
on a Smith Corona (the electronic kind — I’m not THAT old). I wrote stories in
every spiral notebook I had. Eventually, I graduated to a Mac (yes, I’m one of THOSE
people). I imagined new worlds, emotional conflicts, and HEAs while I waited at
stoplights or wandered the grocery store. But here’s the thing: I didn’t just dream
it up and write it down — I critiqued what I read. I knew when ideas were good,
and when they stunk. I ran writing groups, judged creative contests, and eventually
got two graduate degrees in writing. That’s right: I love it that much.So here I am, years later, writing kickass heroines and devastating
