I think to reference the reunion experience. It is sort of universal at any age. Nerves, anxiety, self-confidence or self-conscious? I recall my first reunion took place after 20+ years and talk about a ‘time travel’ experience to the past…wow! I closed my eyes surrounded by old friends and time slipped away. Their former teen faces filtered through the mature masks they wore. The friends I knew so long ago were still in there. And because of distance and time, I didn’t see them often, but just knowing they lived–that they existed–and will forever in my memories…that made me happy. Can you go back again? Sometimes.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I’m a rapid paranormal fan, but can’t resist read anything.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Karen Marie Moening’s character, Baron, in her Fever series is my favorite book boyfriend. There’s just no describing how he makes me feel. (Fluttering eyelashes–)
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m completing the next book in my chick-lit series, As the Chair Turns, called A Witch’s Curse. And finally, the first book in a trilogy I’ve been working on for what seems forever, is coming out in 2020.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Right now! The Moon, The Madness, and The Magic is the next book in this Enchanted Mountain trilogy and is being released December2, 2019. Then I have a short story titled Raven’s Sight which will be available in an anthology in March 2020.

What makes you different from other people?
I honestly don’t think I’m much different from other people!
What is your personality type?
I’m an introvert, and something of a workaholic, though I never seem to get as much done as I want to. If we’re talking Meyers-Briggs, I’m an ISFJ.
What was your favorite childhood game?
I loved racing around outside playing tag with my brother and friends.
What is your favorite subject to talk about?
I confess, I’m not very good at the art of conversation. I’m the silent one at gatherings of strangers listening to everyone else talk and trying to draw them out on their subject of interest. But when I’m with family and old friends, I like to hear about their kids, and grandkids and tell them about mine.
What is your favorite book?
Honestly, I have many, but I absolutely adore Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase.
What is your favorite meal?
I have many favorites (and the extra pounds that come with!), but let’s just say, anything but seafood and organ meats!
Tell us about yourself as a writer.
What made you want to be a writer?
I always loved story. As a child, I used to dream up stories when I had trouble going to sleep at night, something that I think is pretty common among people who go on to write fiction.
What are your favorite books for writing advice?
Books with intricate plotting schemes often freeze up my muse, but after hearing John Truby speak recently at a conference, I’m re-reading helpful parts of his book, The Anatomy of Story. My very favorite writing book is Techniques of the Selling Writer, by Dwight V. Swain. An oldie, but goodie.
What are your favorite reference books?
Not books, but websites: etymonline.com, a free Etymological Dictionary, invaluable for deciding whether a word was used in my story’s time period; and Wikipedia! I go there first for a summary of the topic, and then check the links at the bottom of the article.
When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?
A notebook and paper and a heavy sweater or shawl because I’m always freezing.
What’s your best advice for a new writer?
Finish that story to the end. Let yourself write ugly pages, but get the story down all the way to the end. Go back later to make it pretty. Learn what works best for you (plotting vs. pantsing; critique group vs. on your own; Scrivener or Word; daily or weekend writing) and follow that path to publication. There’s no one way to do this work.
What are your writing goals for this year?
My goals for 2020: a sequel to this year’s Christmas novella in the Winter Wishes Regency Christmas Anthology; another Regency novella set around Michaelmas; a retelling of Macbeth as a romance with a happy ending; and work on a prequel series to my Sons of the Spy Lord books.

I have a number of projects going. I’m in the midst of writing the fourth story in the Saddle Creek series, Moonlight Kisses and MugShots; I’m also working on a Novella for an anthology to be released next spring, as well as editing three or four other books I’ve already written.
