Mail-Order Beatrice by Caroline Clemmons @CarolinClemmons #RLFblog #NewRelease #historical #westernromanceCaroline Clemmons, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Mail-Order Beatrice.

    Mail-Order Beatrice by Caroline Clemmons

    Genre historical western romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Beatrice “Attie” Kendall has to escape from home with her six-week-old son. With the help of her kind brother, she goes to Atlanta where she consults a matchmaker. After the hard life Attie’s been dealt for her twenty years, she’ll finally have a good home with nice people and a friend nearby. In fact, her husband and their home seem too good to be true. Does she dare trust that her life has really changed?

Tate Merritt isn’t ready to get married but he gives in to his grandfather’s coercing. Grandpa raised him and Tate tries to please the older man. Tate doesn’t know what to think about this mail-order bride. She isn’t at all the wife he imagined—plus, she showed up with a baby! The child’s a cute little thing but Tate isn’t sure how he feels about her surprising him. How can he trust a woman whose story keeps changing?

Life presents obstacles to further complicate Attie and Tate’s marriage. They’ll have to work together to solve their problems and protect their family. Can they trust one another enough to make this marriage work?

Why did you write this book?

I was fortunate to be invited to join other authors writing books in the Widows, Brides, and Secret Babies series. Each is a stand-alone novella but all have in common that the heroine is a mail-order bride who shows up with a baby she’s kept secret from the prospective groom.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Historical western romance is my favorite to read and to write.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Taylor Stapleton from Prince Charming by Julie Garwood. However, there are so many wonderful heroines in romances that choosing only one is difficult.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently I’m writing An Agent for Judith, a Pinkerton Matchmaker series romance set to release on July 19 as #79 in this popular series (but each book is very different). This is my third contribution to the series, preceded by An Agent for Magdala and An Agent for Lydia.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’ll be very busy writing for the rest of 2020. On July 7 I’ll release Desperate in Delaware in the Yours Truly: The Lovelorn series. On July 21, I’ll release one of the Golden Legacy series. On August 4, I’ll release Louisiana Bride in the North and South series. There are more scheduled but that’s probably all you want to know about today.

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To compensate for this illogical error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a tiny office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their dog and two rescued indoor cats as well as providing nourishment outdoors for squirrels, birds, and other critters.

The over fifty titles she has created in her pink cave have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards. She writes sweet to sensual romances about the West, both historical and contemporary as well as time travel and mystery. Her series include the Kincaids, McClintocks, Stone Mountain Texas, Bride Brigade, Texas Time Travel, Texas Caprock Tales, Loving A Rancher, and Pearson Grove as well as numerous single titles and contributions to multi-author sets. When she’s not writing, she loves spending time with her family, reading her friends’ books, lunching with friends, browsing antique malls, checking Facebook, and taking the occasional nap.

Two organizing tips from Brenda Sparks, author of Alpha Revealed @brenda_sparks #RLFblog #ParanormalRomanceBrenda Sparks, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Thanks for sharing two tips with us today, but first, please tell us about Alpha Revealed.

    Alpha Revealed

    Genre Paranormal Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Natasha Peterhoff is the luckiest vampire in the world. Having pined over the sexy, but aloof Vladimir Starikovich for centuries, her feelings are reciprocated when the pair are drawn to each other the night of her brother’s wedding. Unfortunately, the stark light of day dawns, and the couple parts ways.
Back in Siberia, Vlad is overcome by doubts. Not only will Natasha’s brother kill him, but his own past is reason enough to keep her away. He vows to do everything in his power to keep her safe, even it if means never seeing her again.
With so many reasons to stay apart, will the ties that bind be strong enough to pull them together?

Happy Mother’s Day! Here are some tips that hopefully not just mothers but everyone will appreciate. I know Natasha, the heroine in Alpha Revealed, would be the first to appreciate the tips I’m sharing today, especially when she was trying to keep her pregnancy from her family.

    Two Tips for Family

Don’t keep secrets. They have a way of coming out in the worst way possible.

Be accepting. Your family member might not do things the way you would or share your viewpoint, but that doesn’t make them wrong. Accept them and learn to appreciate the differences.

    Two Tips for Organizing

Make a To-Do list. Nothing keeps a person on track like a list of chores that can be referenced again and again. Personally, I LOVE crossing off each item as it is completed.

Set reminders on your phone on computer. I can’t begin to tell you how many times my phone has kept me from forgetting to do something.

Know the Heroine from Awards Night in Your Desire by Dee S Knight @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #fantasy #magic #PNRDee S Knight, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us Your Desire.

Awards Night in Your Desire by Dee S Knight

    Genre Erotic romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Your Desire. A mysterious shop appears in town for one reason: to bring the spice of passion and the thrill of love to one special person. Magic is in more than the item purchased—it’s in the heart of the buyer, often hidden, usually surprising. And after enchantment takes hold? The store fades from sight and memory, only to reappear somewhere else. Maybe in your town….

    The Artist and the Director
Derica Meadows, the conservative Director of Accounting at a large San Francisco firm, sees the most beautiful dress imaginable in a shop window. So different from her usual genderless pant suits, she’s swept into acquiring the gown for a formal business affair the next night. But a funny thing happens on the way to her party, in the form of a compelling man and a photo shoot. Suddenly, the normally logical Derica finds herself swimming in a sea of sexual freedom she’d never before considered. The hunk of a artist can satisfy her fantasies, but what will happen to her climb up the corporate ladder in the process? And to her heart?

    Awards Night
Allison Hayes has always tried to be all things to all people. Need anything done? Call Allison. It seems no one considers that Allison might have needs, too. When she goes home one night to find a man injured in her pasture, she resigns herself to helping out yet again. However, it isn’t long before she finds the roles reversed, as the mysterious man fulfills her deepest desires. By morning, Allison knows that in being the Good Samaritan this time, she’s gotten more than she gave. The question is, was it passion for one night or for a lifetime of love?

Know the Heroine from Awards Night in Your Desire

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

Allison doesn’t have too much time to be bored–she works full-time as a nurse and also is one of those “go-to” people everyone seems to call on when they need a patsy…I mean good person to help out. Allison rarely says no. She gave up her dreams of traveling in order to take care of first her mother and then her father when they became ill, and now lives on her inheritance, a large farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where she raises sheep. Considering that an accident from childhood left her with a nasty limp and the fact that her body wears out quickly, her normal life takes all the energy she has. Thus, no time for boredom.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

Allison enjoys food but she’s one of those people who eats to live, not lives to eat. Her weight is important because of the complications with her legs, but it wouldn’t matter. Eating is not her fun thing in life. When she does have an impulse, it’s for pizza, a treat she doesn’t have often.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

Usually, she’s in a nurse’s uniform. Otherwise, she likes loose-fitting clothing that’s comfortable. She raises sheep, so she’s big on wool for the winter. She loves the feel of sheepskin slippers and coats, and has some very nice wool sweaters and slacks. For the warm (dare I say hot?) Virginia summers, she likes linen or cotton slacks and short sleeved tee shirts. She rarely wears shorts due to the scars on her legs. One thing she would never have willingly worn is the formal taffeta gown she bought for her high school reunion. Not only were the colors horrid, but the stupid thing made a noise with each step she took. Finding the dress must have been fate, though, because of what else (or who else) she found beside a crashed car in her front yard later that night!

Does she know how to fix things?

Allison is fairly independent and can take care of light repairs around the house, but luckily for her, she has her uncle and cousin living on the next farm and they will usually help with anything she can’t handle.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

She tried to say no, that she would not help with this high school reunion. She came up with excuse after excuse but could not talk herself out of the guilt if she left her best friend high and dry without help. So, she gave in–not all that gracefully. Then she had went shopping and did another thing badly–find a dress for the costumed vintage event, something reminiscent of the 1950s. And what a horrible dress she ended up with! Truly, it was the worst possible dress to everyone except one special person. For him, it turned out to be a miracle. Or maybe a piece of magic!

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

Allison enjoys children, though she doesn’t find herself around kids she doesn’t know all that often. When she does, she forgets that she limps until the honesty of children’s questions remind her. Still, she doesn’t mind their questions as much as their parents’ embarrassment. She would love to have her own kids someday. Living in her small town doesn’t seem to present many opportunities. Until fate drops a guy right into her pasture–after tossing him through her fence and against one of her huge oak trees!

What is she like first thing in the morning?

Truthfully, she’d always appreciate more sleep, but her work ethic doesn’t allow her to sleep beyond the alarm. By the time she’s showered and had her first dose of caffeine, she’s ready to meet the day.

    Can she use chopsticks?

No. When she has Chinese food she’s firmly in the “Fork, please,” set.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

Yes, and lots of it. Black, please.

What apps would she have on her phone?

Allison barely has a mobile phone, much less apps. I’m sure she wonders what an app is.

    Android or iPhone?

    iPhone

    Earrings or unpierced ears?

She doesn’t have pierced ears. When she wears earrings–which she usually does not to work–she wears something close to the ear. No chandeliers because they’re distracting. She has a few nice pairs of gemstone studs.

    Tattoos or unadorned skin?

No tattoos, no piercings, no perfumes. Just skin.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

She has a car, and needs it, living on the farm. Public transportation is pretty much out of the question even when she’s in town.

    Recycle or toss?

    Recycle.

Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

Shilpa Suraj, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about Love, Marriage, and Other Disasters.

Love, Marriage, and Other Disasters by Shilpa Suraj

    Genre Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): 7/10

She believes in love, family and…squiggles!

Alisha Rana is not your typical single desi girl. For one, she is on the wrong side of 30. For another, she is divorced. And last but definitely not least, she is still, gasp, a virgin!

Alisha doesn’t want much. But what she does want is that elusive thing all women search for – A man who gets her…but a man who gets her hot! She calls it “feeling the squiggle.”

Enter Dr. Vivaan Kapoor, cute, hot, squiggle-worthy. The younger brother of her cousin’s prospective groom, he’s got the squiggle factor in spades. The only catch? He’s never been married and is years younger than Alisha. Basically, completely off-limits.

And then there is Arjun. Widowed, older than her by the right number of years and a genuinely nice guy. He’s Vivaan’s cousin and a so-called perfect match for Alisha. The problem is, Alisha’s squiggle-o-meter refuses to budge for him.

What will Alisha choose? A lifetime together with the ‘right’ man or a chance at happiness with the ‘wrong’ one?

Know the Heroine from Love, Marriage, and Other Disasters

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

She’d watch a movie in her pyjamas while demolishing a bowl of ice cream.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

    Ice cream. Always, ice cream.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

Jeans with ethnic kurtas, simple dresses and comfortable shorts and pyjamas at home.

Does she know how to fix things?

No. She’s not the fix things type. She’d prefer to call in an expert to do it.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Alisha tries to be the dutiful daughter and meet the man her parents have picked out for her. Unfortunately, this does not go well as she finds herself strongly attracted to his cousin. It’s an attraction that is as intense as it is inappropriate, and Alisha finds herself torn between familial expectations and her own desires.

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

Alisha isn’t instinctively maternal. She’s extremely family oriented and would make a wonderful mother to her own children but she isn’t the sort to cuddle or play with every child she happens to meet.

What is she like first thing in the morning?

She is not a morning person and is extremely grumpy until her humongous mug of tea kickstarts her day.

    Can she use chopsticks?

She has never attempted it so far but would be game to try.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

Yes. Coffee with milk and enough sugar to make your teeth hurt. Although, the first beverage every morning is tea. Coffee is for the rest of the day.

What apps would she have on her phone?

    Candy Crush, WhatsApp, Kindle

    Android or iPhone?

    Android

    Earrings or unpierced ears?

    Earrings

    Tattoos or unadorned skin?

    Unadorned skin

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

Personal vehicle on most days but sometimes uses the company cab when she isn’t in the mood to drive herself.

Do It Write: Where Emerald writes @Emerald_theGLD #RLFblog #authorEmerald, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Before we talk about your office, please tell us about your latest book.

Initiative: Tales of Erotic Boldness by Emerald

    Genre Erotic Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

From audacious proposals to first-time exploits to newfound inner confidence, taking initiative delves into the risqué in these thirteen smoldering tales. An accidental catalyst invokes a bold move in “Fulfillment,” while the brassiness in “Shift Change” belongs entirely to narrator Stacey. “Who’s on Top?” sees a meeting between fans of rival baseball teams turn into a game of chance and wits, and “The Beast Within” offers a present-day “Beauty and the Beast” rendition that puts a twist on ugliness, beauty, pain, and pleasure–and the surprising ways they can intertwine.

Sometimes brazen, sometimes subtle, the initiatives between these pages always showcase the erotic and how it can both inspire and evoke our most emboldened selves.

How long have you been writing?

Since I was about seven. My first project was an utterly scintillating, I’m sure, autobiographical account of life with my cat at the time.

Tell us about your writing space or home office.

In early 2016, I bought my first single-family house. It’s a three-bedroom ranch style, so my office is in the room right across from the master bedroom. I’ve had the same desk for more than a decade because aesthetically, I really like it. Its one drawback is that it is just a surface with no drawers or storage space, but to be fair, that probably keeps me from accumulating a disorganized mess(es) in any drawers. I do have a two-drawer file cabinet in the vicinity.

Last year, I decided I would get a Balance Ball chair for my desk. Sigh…it was a noble idea, but I have to admit to its being a failed experiment. All it really resulted in was my avoiding sitting at my desk! It turns out I just feel too frequent of an urge to lean back, sit cross-legged (yes, I do this on chairs sometimes), sit with one foot underneath me, or pull my laptop onto my lap for the Balance Ball chair to really work for me. So I recently gave in and returned my regular office chair to the location behind my desk.

I also have a wonderful black upholstered chair and ottoman in another corner of my office where I work frequently (especially when the Balance Ball chair was still behind my desk!).

    Anything special about your space?

The corner of my desk features a small plastic gumball machine my older sister gave me for my fifth birthday. Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a predilection for circles/roundness, and I love bright colors. So I’ve adored this delightfully spherical plastic gumball machine with bright, round gumballs since the first moment I saw it! So much so that I still have it more than thirty-five years later…. You can see it on my desk in the picture.

In addition, my office has fabulous silver wallpaper, a wall calendar I buy every year that has gorgeous and inspiring garden photographs (the Secret Garden series–I highly recommend it), and a stuffed Hello Kitty in a hot pink plaid dress I consider my “writing buddy.”

What do you love most about that area?

I love the two windows that look out the front of my house. There are bushes right outside that I especially love to see in the summer when they’re green and, in the case of the rosebush, in bloom, but one of them is also holly, so it’s green year-round. The room gets a lot of natural light in the morning since it faces east.

I also love how I have the room arranged–it took me a couple tries to get it the way I want it. I reconfigured the desk and file cabinet setup a year or so after I moved in, and I like it much better now. Some would say the furniture arrangement is not particularly convenient because I have to walk specifically around and behind my desk (which has an “L” shape) to sit in it, but I actually like this because it means that when I go back there, I am working. It’s not a place I just sit casually or dart in and out of while doing other things.

If money was no object, what would your home office look like?

My laptop, printer, software, and any other technological equipment would immediately be upgraded! I would love to have the best/fastest/most efficient of such without concern for how expensive it is.

What office equipment do you use most, other than your computer?

Do It Write: Where Emerald writes @Emerald_theGLD #RLFblog #authorMy corner chair…I suppose that isn’t really office equipment, but I frequently sit on the upholstered chair in the corner of my office and consider it integral to my work process.

I also use the printer a lot because I feel strongly oriented toward editing and proofreading on paper rather than electronically. Though I lament that it’s not environmental, I’ve usually printed multiple drafts of projects I’m working on. (I do at least recycle them.)

What do you think is a must have for an efficient office?

I personally like almost anything I’m going to need to be within reach. It seems just the way I concentrate, but if I have to actually get up to get or look for something, it tends to interrupt my concentration and momentum. I want pen, stapler, printer, highlighter, my water bottle, scratch paper/notebook, and I’m sure some other things I’m forgetting to be right there, easily within reach. I do have my desk and space set up that way.

I also feel it needs to be comfortable (back to the Balance Ball chair…). Since I’ve tended to like to work for hours at a time, I sometimes lean back in my chair and pull my laptop into my lap and put my feet on my desk. When I’m not doing this, I seem, for some reason, to find a foot rest positively necessary. I like my chair to be pretty high, and if my feet do not feel anchored on the floor (which they tend not to without a foot rest), I honestly feel I can’t concentrate well.

    Are you a writing mom/dad?

Of non-human children: I have two cats and two dogs (known as “the puppies” even though they’re five now), all of whom tend to be in and out of my office whenever I’m in there. And of course the puppies have no qualms about unabashedly interrupting me when it’s time to go out. The cats frequent my office, and when I’m in the chair in the corner, they’ve been known to fail to recognize the relative inconvenience of making their way onto my lap. Or perhaps they just don’t care….

On that note, I actually had two iterations of the Balance Ball chair. The first one bit the dust when one cat chased the other up onto it, and she landed with her claws out. (It’s as though she knew something I didn’t at the time!)

How do you juggle writing and family?

I try to make sure everybody is fed and, in the case of the dogs, has gone out recently so that ideally they’ll leave me alone for a while. :)
