Meet Picayune from Beloved Unmasked #gayromance @britaaddams #RLFblog

Meet Picayune from Beloved Unmasked by Brita Addams.

    Author Bio

Born in a small town in upstate New York, Brita Addams has made her home in the sultry south for many years. In the Frog Capital of the World, Brita shares her home with her real-life hero—her husband, and a fat cat named Stormee. All their children are grown.
Given her love of history, Brita writes both het and gay historical romance. Many of her historicals have appeared on category bestseller lists at various online retailers.
Tarnished Gold, the first in her gay romance Tarnished series for Dreamspinner Press, was a winner in the 2013 Rainbow Awards, Historical Romance category. The book also received nominations for Best Historical and Best Book of 2013 from the readers of the Goodreads M/M Romance Group.
A bit of trivia—Brita pronounces her name, Bree-ta, and not Brit-a, like the famous water filter. Brita Addams is a mash-up of her real middle name and her husband’s middle name, with an additional d and s.

    Introducing Picayune/David Reid

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever! We’re happy to have you here today.
    Name: Picayune, later David Reid
Age: at the time of this interview, I’m 24.
    Gender: male
    Birthplace: Storyville, New Orleans
    Profession: Survivor.
Describe your body and build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars.
I’m tall, tanned, and slim, with a full head of dark hair that needs pomade.
Who is the significant other in your life?
You’ll have to read Beloved Unmasked to find out. I’m not being coy, here, but it’s best you read about it.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
As a boy, I spent as much time as I could out my mother’s way. She hated me. She named me Picayune, for crying out loud. What kind of mother does that? Said I didn’t deserve a last name. With a great deal of help, I’ve overcome a lot, but something tells me I’ll never stray too far from Picayune. To forget him would do him, and me, a great injustice. I plan a better future, but I’ll always wonder if I deserve it.
    How do you dress?
As a kid, I worked for the ragman, as well as Mr. Anderson, the mayor of Storyville. More often than not, I wore baggy overalls, with one broken buckle, but, what’s that, right? My yellowed shirt itched and was at least two sizes too big. My shoes were something. Nester, the man who took care of all us kids at the Gem, he tied my soles on with rope.
Nowadays, I like my suits and two-tone Oxfords. Emile says I spend too much on clothes, but I tell him that is born of deprivation.
I’m told I’ve got a Cajun accent. I used to talk like everyone else in Storyville—dese, dem, doze, but people don’t take you seriously when you sound uneducated. I’ve spent many hours trying to speak like the people I went to school with. Now I sound like them, except when I get excited, and I still have an accent.
    Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
All of the above. I read a lot and I was a good student. I raised myself on streets where you learn quickly, mostly things you shouldn’t learn. Nester and Miss Effie, they kept me straight. I never got into trouble, though Sapphire, my mother, saw fit to discipline me, mostly for no good reason other than she was angry at something.
On what special skills do you rely?
I draw and play the piano. I have a fair-to-middling singing voice, too. When I draw or play, nothing else matters.
Are any of your skills a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
Miss Effie always said we shouldn’t be prideful, but I’m a fast learner. King Oliver himself taught me to play piano and he didn’t mess around. He’d play a few notes, then tell me to play them. I’m proud I learned all I know about music from the king himself, and from hanging out at the Funky Butt Dance Hall. They had a kid over there, Louis Armstrong. Man, could that boy play that cornet of his.
Do you care about what others assume about you?
Don’t we all care about what others think of us? I have more secrets than most people I know, but to defend myself, I’d have to reveal them. Spence calls that a double-edged sword.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
All my life, I’ve thought about who my father might be, but there’s no way of tellin’. The why in that question is obvious. I’ve read stories about families, but they don’t have anything to do with me.
Can you keep a secret? Why or why not?
Sure, because I have so many of my own.
    What is your biggest need?
I want someone to love and who’ll love me. *Bows head*
    How do you handle challenges?
Straight on. That’s how Nester taught me.
    What is your breaking point?
In the book, Beloved Unmasked, Ms. Addams wrote about it. A man has to make a decision and stick to it. That’s what I did. Let’s just say it has something to do with a broken broomstick.
How emotionally expressive are you to others?
I have my moments. I’ve spent a long time finding my heart.
Who in your life has the power to hurt you the most and why?
The person who loves me. He has my life in his hands.
What would you like to tell your writer?
Thank you, Ms. Addams, for being patient with me. Some of the stuff you pulled out of me wasn’t easy—for either of us.
What would you like people who hear your story to know?
We are all responsible for our happiness, and we have to be a person someone wants to care for.

Stressing the Heroine from Tempted By A Kiss a #romance by @TheAnnaDurand #RLFblog

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and
a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better,
by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles
    stress.

    Author Bio

Anna Durand is an award-winning writer, a freelance
librarian, and an audiobook addict. She specializes in steamy romances
featuring spunky heroines and hunky heroes. As a member of Romance Writers of
America, she volunteers for its chapters to give back to the romance community.
In her previous life as a librarian, she haunted the stacks of public libraries
but never met any hot vampires hunting for magical books.

    About the Book

    Title Tempted by a Kiss
    Genre Erotic romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Mel Thompson just dumped her cheating ex after two years
together. Now she’s determined to understand the allure of casual sex by having
a steamy fling of her own at a notoriously raunchy underground club. When her
best friend, Adam Caras, catches on to her plan, he makes a surprising offer to
derail her. If she wants a hot fling, he’ll give it to her.
Who better than Adam, renowned lady-killer, to demonstrate
the erotic pleasures of a one night stand? Sex could ruin their friendship, but
after a soul-searing kiss, Mel fears one night may never be enough.

    Stressing The Heroine

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and
a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better,
by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles
    stress.

    The Heroine’s Relaxed Side

    This heroine is at a
party. Considering her story, describe the party.
Mel Thompson has been dragged to a party at the cramped
apartment of her best friend, Adam Caras. The place is filled to capacity with
family and friends, including Adam’s rowdy firefighter buddies.
    How does the heroine
feel about being at this particular party, and what body language is she
    displaying that gives it away?
Mel lingers behind the bar, arms wrapped around herself,
gaze scanning the room for Adam. She used to love parties, but now they make
her nervous. Though she’s still confident at work, in her personal life she’s
    lost her self-assurance.
    Is she more likely to
    mingle or remain aloof?
She’ll stick close to Adam, even avoiding his brothers and
father, whom she’s known her whole life.
    If she drinks, what is
her drink of choice at this party?
Beer. She grew up next door to the Caras boys, and though
beer isn’t her first choice, at a Caras party she’s not averse to tossing back
    a lager.
    How much drink is her
    usual?
She drinks in moderation, never getting drunk. Well, maybe
    not never…
    The heroine figures out
where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid
someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
Mel longs to escape the party — especially when Adam’s
buddies start referring to him as the Arsonist, a renowned ladykiller.
    Is she likely to latch
onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend
    that others latch onto?
She wants nothing more than to cling to Adam, or hide behind
him, but he keeps dragging her into conversations with everybody else.
    If someone picked a fight
at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?
Anyone who attacks Adam, or harasses a woman, will meet Mel
    the Terminator.
    Is the heroine the one
most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
Don’t mess with Mel. She may be nervous at a party, but
    she’ll boot out the troublemakers.
    Will she know when to
leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?
She’ll try to sneak out early, but Adam will convince her to
stay until everyone else is gone. He’s got an ulterior motive, but she’s
    oblivious to it.

    The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side

    How does the heroine handle
it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was
    blameless in a situation?
She’ll give them a tongue lashing, for sure.
    How does the heroine react
    to hearing a scream?
Mel flinches, but then rushes to see if someone’s in
    trouble.
    If she sees someone being
assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses her mind?
A man attacking another man: Too dangerous, run away.
A man attacking a woman: Won’t let another woman become a
    victim.
    If she sees someone
being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?
A man attacking another man: Call the cops.
A man attacking a woman: Jump in with her stun gun to stop
    the assault.
    This heroine attempts
to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against
her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does
    she do?
Call Adam on her cell phone.
    The heroine runs into
the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the
situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does she do?
When Mel runs into her cheating ex, Devon McCallister, she puts
up a tough front to hide her fear while searching for a way out, one that won’t
alert Devon to how scared she is.
    Someone younger than
the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly,
perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?
Mel started her own business from the ground up, so she
excels at finding a diplomatic way to step in when someone else is screwing up.
    The heroine is in
physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself
in order to get through the situation?
She remembers how resilient her late father was and takes
    strength from those memories.
    What mentor’s words
come to mind in a bad situation?
She remembers her dad’s corny advice, like “Crying
doesn’t make you weak, Melly. Even a tough cookie can have a soft center.”
    What lesson from her
past gets her through a stressful situation?
Getting through her father’s death proved to her she can
    handle even the worst moments.

Stressing the Hero from Stealing Hope a #ParanormalRomance by @FatedDragons #RLFblog

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.

    Author Bio

Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a story to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she’d always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back.

Beverly has been obsessed with dragons and romance since she was a young girl, collecting dragon books and reading everything she could find on them even down to the care of real life dragons. She’s always been slightly panicked that the world as we know it will end, so has prepped for it, haunting survivalist pages and prepper projects she felt she needed in the event SHTF.
An avid fan of all romance, Beverly’s goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them.
A Navy Veteran, Beverly has traveled around the world and the United States enabling her to bring her settings to life, meeting and marrying her husband of twenty five years along the way for her own romance. Reading romances since the fourth grade she’s followed as the genre changed and spread into the vast cornucopia of romance offered today.

Upon eruption of a volcano, Ari awakens to a changed world, and a knowing that his dragon’s mate is near. He saves her twice—once as a dragon, and again as a man—and wins her confidence.
Hope cried out, moaning, “just change me with pleasure?”
Hope is restless and unfulfilled until she meets Ari, the man of her fantasies. The sensual tension between them heightens with every touch. When their passion explodes, Hope gets pulled into the dragon’s mating ritual…and into a world of erotic sensation she never dreamed existed but now cannot live without. Stressing The Hero

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a
past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by
focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.

    The Hero’s Relaxed Side

    This hero is at a
party. Considering his story, describe the party.
This would definitely be a hunting party. Survival is the
    main goal.
    How does the hero
feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying
    that gives it away?
Ari is a bit impatient having to hunt as a human. If he was
to go as his dragon, he’d be done and back in a quarter of the time. He checks
over the weapons he is using, perhaps a bit more diligently than the men around
    him.
Is he more likely to mingle
    or remain aloof?
Ari would remain aloof, if he can manage it he’ll change to
make hunting easier as long as he wouldn’t be found out. He has no desire to
    become hunted.
    If he drinks, what is
his drink of choice at this party?
Water is his drink of choice at the hunting party.
    How much drink is his
    usual?
Ari will have a drink with his meal. Dragons don’t really
indulge in anything that could expose them to humans.
    The hero figures out where
the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or
to go drag a friend back to the party?
Ari will go there to indulge his curiosity to see if
anything is hidden there, and to scope out the territory.
    Is he likely to latch
onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is he the friend that
    others latch onto?
    Ari draws others to him.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero
    going to handle it?
Ari would step in to stop it.
Is the hero the one most
likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
Ari would be the one doing the tossing.
Will he know when to leave,
or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
Ari will stay until the goal of the party is done.

    The Hero’s Stressed Out Side

    How does the hero handle
it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was
    blameless in a situation?
Ari would grit his teeth and listen then try to explain.
    How does the hero react
    to hearing a scream?
    Ari runs toward it.
    If he sees someone being
assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
That he has to stop it.
    If he sees someone
being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
Ari steps in to stop it.
    This hero attempts to
rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him
and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he
    do?
Ari does what he thinks is right, even if he gets his butt
    kicked.
    The hero runs into
the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the
situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does he do?
Ari keeps the contact to a minimum to accomplish what must
    be done.
    Someone younger than
the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps
bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
Ari will try to assist him or her, doing his best to correct
it. He will step in to correct it if he has no choice and only if someone will
    be hurt.
    The hero is in
physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell
himself in order to get through the situation?
He’s a dragon, he can do anything.
    What mentor’s words
come to mind in a bad situation?
Give it time, it will pass.
    What lesson from his
past gets him through a stressful situation?
The knowledge that no matter what, he has his family to
    stand behind him.

Shereen Vedam shares details about the creation of Phillip in the book A Devilish Slumber.

    About the Book

Title A Devilish Slumber (The Rue Alliance Book 1)
    Genre Regency Fantasy Romance
    Author Shereen Vedam
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
The last of her family, Rose is mired in grief at the recent death of her beloved sister and the abandonment by the man she loves. Wanting to avoid the cloying attention of friends, servants and well-wishers, she becomes a recluse. Then one day, she meets a woman who reminds Rose of her gentle mother . . . and then news comes of her new friend’s brutal murder. Rose refuses to accept this latest blow lying down. So she resurrects an ancient, magical, family talent to re-shape her features in order to disguise herself as a young man, and goes hunting for her friend’s killer through London’s seedier lanes and dangerous dockyards.
Sir Phillip, the Regent’s favored spy, returns from war determined to win back the woman he was forced to leave three years ago. But when he witnesses Rose covered in blood, racing from a brutal scene while gripping the murder weapon, he goes on a desperate mission to unravel what he hopes is a case of mistaken identity.
Will Rose ever get her happily-ever-after? Possibly. But first, she’ll have to convince Phillip of her innocence-before the killer strikes again . . .

    Introducing Phillip Jones

    Name: Sir Phillip Crispin Jones
    Age: 23 years old
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: London, England
Profession: the Regent’s favored intelligence officer
Describe Phillip’s body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: 6′, lean, agile, narrow face, strong, generous, courageous, passionate and thrives on fast-paced adventures
Who is the significant other in Phillip’s life?
    Lady Roselyn (Rose) Ravenstock
Tell us about this character, please.
Rose was inspired by the fairy tale character, Sleeping Beauty. She is the twenty-one year old daughter of an earl, who only wants peace and quiet to come to terms with an unquenchable sorrow and overwhelming remorse. Though none of it was her fault, she feels as if she might be jinxed to bring harm to anyone who cares for her. To avoid entanglements, Rose has become a recluse, even discharging all of her well-meaning but clinging servants. All but one, a loyal young maid fleeing her own troubled family who insists on staying to the point of harming herself with her incessant knocking at Rose’s front door. Rose relents and allows her to come inside and care for a now secluded house and its lonely, heartbroken mistress.
On what special skills does Phillip rely?
Phillip is an Intelligence Office for the Regent in 1814, London, England. He is often sent to war-torn Europe to infiltrate enemy camps and unearth military secrets. He has a keen sense for noting details and a quick wit that has helped him stay alive in dangerous times. Possessing a naturally suspicious mind, he also has a particular knack for uncovering deception.
What kinds of things does Phillip always carry?
He never leaves home without two things: 1) a walking stick with a handy rapier, a long thin sword, hidden within, and, 2) a circular tinderbox and accompanying candle, for his late night prowls down dark alleyways in search of suspects.
    Is Phillip close to family?
He loves his cousin Rufus like a brother, but they had a falling out after a childhood misunderstanding resulted in Rufus paying a steep price for something Phillip had done. Though Rufus seems to hold no grudges, Phillip has never forgiven himself for that mistake.
Can Phillip keep a secret (why or why not)?
Phillip keeps lots of secrets. Though recently, one of his best kept secrets was leaked to the press.
What is Phillip’s biggest need at the beginning of the story?
Before she sent him away, Rose accused Phillip of being unable to trust anyone. So he wants to quiet his constantly probing mind in order to perceive the good in people as well as he does their darkness.
Who has the power to hurt Phillip the most and why?
Phillip’s first attempt to practice his rusty trusting skills is to befriend a young stranger he meets while on a case. Ben Turner is searching for the same ruthless killer that Phillip hunts. Except Ben has a secret that could devastate Phillip, and shake his ability to trust in anyone ever again, especially Rose.
What is Phillip willing to give up to win Rose’s heart?
He is willing to give up his lifelong goal to right wrongs.

    About Your Writer

    Shereen Vedam

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer the following questions.

What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
My role as the Regent’s Intelligence Officer is a sensitive one that relies on absolute secrecy. Except, thanks to Shereen, I am now the talk of London. The events in her last book resulted in my greatest secret, my clandestine work for the Regent, being spilled to the press. As a result, the rags have even been printing cartoons about me! A cartoon. Can you believe it? My life’s work is now a public joke.
Is there anything you’d like to say to Shereen?
Considering my answer above, it might surprise you to learn that I wish to thank Shereen. For NOT portraying me a deuced deluded dummy. Did you read her first draft? She made me out to be some sort of idiot who couldn’t find a worm in an apple orchard. Thank heavens her final draft acknowledged my detecting skills as exemplary. And she also gave me a chance to win Rose back, not just her love but her invaluable friendship. For that latter accomplishment, I might even forgive Shereen for the cartoon catastrophe.

    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
Mitch Weston. LA cop. Now sidelined by an undercover op that
got shot to hell. That got my partner killed, thanks to me. That left me one of
the walking wounded, in more ways than one.
According to my department-assigned shrink, I need to talk things
out. Problem is, I’m not much of a talker. I’m a doer. Though not lately.
    Authors call what you
want but cannot have “the conflict” — what is yours?
You sound like my shrink. (Smiles.) No offense.
Where do you want me to start?
I want to go back in time and reverse what happened in LA –but
    I can’t.
I want to go even further back, to my teens, and prevent what
happened then –when the girl I loved walked away without a second glance. Can’t
do that, either. And currently, that girl –that woman –is in my life again…temporarily.
But this time around, I can’t get her to give me even a first glance.
Most of all, I want to trust my instincts. But… (shrugs) I’d
imagine you can fill in the blank.
Drawing from my shrink sessions again…am I bitter? Maybe. Frustrated?
For sure. Heartsick? That’s not something you’ll ever hear me admit.
What can you not do (but
need to do) during this story?
Redeem myself. Trust my instincts again. Convince Andi to let
me help her, to protect her. Because it’s what I do.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
Why didn’t I push harder to follow my instincts when I had the
    chance?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you
    fear most and why.
Not being 100% again. Not getting the girl I’ve always loved…
Though current events have shown me that not
    getting
Andi means I’ve never hit 100%.
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
Going by the previous answer, I guess we’d say Andi makes me
    whole.
    What is your family like?
Great. Dad’s a sheriff; he understands what I’m going through.
    Mom’s…Mom. She just understands me,
even when I don’t understand myself. I’m the oldest of five, and now I’m back home
again, I see the caring, the concern from everyone. The family’s need to make me
all better again. And their strange reluctance to mention the elephant in the room.
    What special skills do
    you rely on?
Whatever it takes to be a cop. Everything I heard from my dad
and grandfather, both career sheriffs. Everything I learned in the academy. Everything
I’ve picked up since –from fellow officers, from my former partners, from felons
    I’ve put away.
    Why are you happy with
    the way your story ended?
Are you kidding? This is a romance. (Smiles at Andi.)
I’m happy to get back to the job I’ve always wanted and to get the girl I’ve always loved.

    About the Writer

Barbara White Daille lives with her husband in the sunny Southwest.
Though they love the warm winters and the lizards in their front yard, they haven’t
gotten used to the scorpions in the bathroom.
Barbara’s new series, The Hitching Post Hotel, features a matchmaking
grandpa determined to see his three granddaughters wed. The series began with The
Cowboy’s Little Surprise and A Rancher of Her Own, and The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal
has just debuted. Additional books in the series will be coming up next year.
    What was your biggest
    challenge in writing this book?
Mitch himself. He didn’t want to open up to Andi…to the department
psychiatrist…or to me. The emotional hurdles he had to overcome made it tough
for me know how to tell his story and resolve his conflicts. I hope I’ve done them
    –and him –justice.
    Why did you choose this
    character for the interview today?
To prove to him he’s a better man than he thinks he is.
    When writing the book,
what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
His heart. He’s tough when he has to be –and as a cop, he often
has to be. He’s short with people sometimes, but that’s part of his policeman’s
persona, too. Underneath it all, he’s got every attribute Andi deserves in her hero.
    Are any sequels planned
    for this book?
This is the third book in The Hitching Post Hotel series. All
my books are stand-alones, which mean (for me, anyhow), every hero and heroine reaches
a happy-ever-after in their book. But yes, there are additional books planned. Cowboy in Conflict will be out in July, and
there will be at least two more books in the series. And you’ll get to see Mitch
    and Andi again.
    What genre(s) would you
like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Romantic suspense…mystery…women’s fiction… There are many
stories in my head waiting to be told.
    Why should readers who
haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
As I said above, this is a stand-alone story, so readers don’t
    need to read the books in order. Mitch is trying to recover from a catastrophe;
Andi has a traumatic past of her own. Along with these emotional story threads,
there’s a lighter element to the book. Andi’s elderly grandfather (a recurring character
in the series) and both their families are matchmaking to bring Mitch and Andi together.
And there’s also a fake-fiancee agreement that goes horribly wrong.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
Just something they may have heard from me before:
I’m a life-long reader and book lover, and I hope my stories
will give my readers as much pleasure as other authors’ books have given me.

    The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal
    A husband for Christmas?
Mitch Weston’s back in Cowboy Creek,
and self-proclaimed matchmaker Jed Garland has his single granddaughter Andi on
his mind. Mitch is a lawman, good with the little ones and easy on the eyes. He
and Andi were high school sweethearts, for heaven’s sake! Why can’t they see they’re
    perfect for each other?
Because Andi already lost one husband
to a dangerous job, and now she’s all about playing it safe, for her sake and her
children’s. Being a cop is everything to Mitch. After discovering Jed’s plan, Mitch
and Andi come up with their own: they’ll pretend to get engaged and then break up
due to irreconcilable differences. Jed’s got his work cut out for him –because

Romano in the books, Her First Knight, and her new release, Merry Christmas,
    Baby

    About the Book

    Title        Merry
    Christmas, Baby (A Knights Christmas)(Book3)
    Genre     Contemporary
    Romance (Military)
    Author    Livia Quinn
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
It’s a Christmas weekend full of love and Larue
social media is a twitter at the return of their hometown movie star, Ducane
Beauregard Larue, and a visit by Raptors quarterback, Gino Manelli, at the only
place to celebrate Christmas Eve—the Romanos’. Catch up with the characters
from Larue and Thunder Point, and as a bonus get a peek into the lives of
    upcoming characters.
Beau hates Christmas. It reminds him of what he can’t have.
He’s been avoiding homecomings, and the biggest reason is unavoidable this
Christmas – Madison Hart, who has loved Beau for most of her adult life.
Whenever rumors surface about him returning home, Madison hyperventilates at
the prospect of seeing him again.
Samantha Larue’s baby is overdue and everyone is
hovering including Jed, who ended their relationship last summer because kids
    weren’t “in his future”.
Bad guys don’t scare Delilah Burke but Luc’s mother and five
sisters have her stalling on setting a date to marry the man she loves.
This Christmas nothing could make Buffy Romano happier than
delivering a few surprises and helping the people she loves find love.
Then, a Christmas Eve miracle confirms what she already knows – that with a
little nudge, all her love ones’ happily ever afters will happen in the
    not so distant future.

    Introducing Ridge Romano

    Name: Ridge Romano
    Age: 33
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Virginia
Profession: Ex-military, Billionaire CEO, veterans advocate
    and cover model
Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Caucasian, Italian
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Ridge has shoulder
length black hair and dark eyes, perpetual tan, six-feet two. His rigid diet
keeps his body hard and ready for a photo shoot. His smile lights up the room,
but it doesn’t happen often enough.
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
    Lana “Buffy” Calloway, famous
fashion model and photographer who saw Ridge as the face of her model/ad
agency. She has a couple surprises for him at their Christmas Eve party.
    Tell us about this
    character, please.
Ridge was a child prodigy, a genius inventor, who was given
his own laboratory in the Army to do his bionic research. After his brother
stepped on an IAD and lost his battle with depression, Ridge devoted his life
to improving the lives of veterans. He created two companies that provide state
of the art prostheses to veterans at no charge, then sold them to put together
a consortium of private companies which will take over the care of veterans
from the government, if he can get
the vote past Congress. Ending up on the strip bingo stage at a romance
convention could destroy everything he’s worked for. (Her First Knight)
    How does your hero
    dress?
Most of the time Ridge is in a dark well-cut suit and tie. He’s a
serious guy and doesn’t have time to relax (except for that time he showed up on
the strip bingo stage, and later in a loincloth…).
    What is your
    character’s viewpoint on wealth?
He is a generous man to whom much has been
given — wealth, intelligence, and means, and feels a duty to support
responsible people who match his vision, and those in need.
    Does he have children?
    Ridge never
planned to be married. He was laser focused on his vision for the consortium,
but now that he and Buffy have been married for two years, could be it’s time…
    Is your character
    involved in his community?
Yes, Ridge feels like all the experiences in his life led
him to this place, to Buffy. But community to Ridge means more than just Larue
and Buffy’s large family, though he’s come to love them all. It also includes veterans
and their families and a huge group of romance writers and readers who continue
to support his vision for our nation’s defenders.
    How do others
perceive your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
This is a common theme in the Under-Cover Knights. Each man
is more than just a handsome face or six-pack abs. They see no reason why their
hard earned fitness shouldn’t be used to sell products, movies or novels, even
romance novels; and if it supports a higher cause, even better. (Besides
there’s the added perk of working with beautiful women.) They are men of character
with personal interests and the drive to contribute to their community, for Luc
it’s teens and for Ridge, veterans.
    How emotionally
expressive is your character to others?
As you can imagine, as a child geek
who was totally into his tech toys, Ridge was more of an introvert. And though
he has loved his wife since before he even thought he had a chance with her,
he’s only recently even kissed her in public. I think he likes it.
    BONUS:
    Ridge, what would you
most like to communicate about the men at Knights Production, Inc.?
I’d just like to see these men, and women, get the credit
they deserve for their hard work as models and with their involvement in the
community. I was guilty of being short-sighted myself before I met Buffy. They
    have my utmost admiration.

    About Your Writer

    Why did you decide to
allow this author to tell your story?
I met Livia while she was researching Luc and Delilah’s
book, Hard Days Knight. Back then, I was merely Luc’s boss but after she found
out the extent of veterans’ needs in this country, she got a vision for what
I’ve been trying to accomplish with the consortium. After grilling her on her
true motivation and making sure she could represent my agenda and tell the
story of how Buffy and I met miraculously,
without totally embarrassing me, I agreed.
    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
Livia said she was awed by the
overwhelming need of veterans and what I was trying to accomplish with the
consortium and wanted to get the word out. And, well…she said she was
especially taken with my impromptu strip-tease.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
<He rubs his dark jaw, thinking> The strip bingo
contest could have been much worse, but that’s not her fault. Livia didn’t
expose my faux pas; a nice lady in the audience snapped a picture with her
phone and it went viral. It was serendipity.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
Jed Stern, definitely. Being a cop and a fitness fanatic,
he’d be a great addition to our portfolio. So far he’s adamantly refused. Jed
acts like he’s so tough but if you could have seen him around Samantha for the
last six months… and during the Christmas party, he was a hero.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
I don’t think she has any choice. I found her while she was
driving on the Interstate, but she says characters are always following her to
the tub or on the road, begging to have their stories told. For a while she
thought she was crazy but now she just accepts it as a calling.
