Is It True: Ungranted Wishes by Grace Risata #RLFblog #Paranormal

Play Is It True with today’s guest Grace Risata, author of Ungranted Wishes, a Paranormal Romantic Comedy This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

First, tell us about your book.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

It would be putting it mildly to say that full-figured Cleo Welch was in a funk. Dead end job? Check. Bank account? Running low. Sex life? Non-existent.

Her luck took a turn for the better when she stumbled upon a magic brass pot at a rummage sale. After getting drunk and rubbing things the right way, Cleo found herself in possession of one extremely attractive genie who was very grateful to be released.

What’s a girl to do when a four thousand-year-old genie is far more interested in satisfying her every desire, rather than granting any of her wishes? Well…she does the genie. That’s a no-brainer!

Warning: This full length novel contains quite a few explicit sex scenes (including ones involving candy that explodes, a dirty-talking detective, and an ancient ritual performed with raspberries). Every scene is absolutely consensual between all parties involved. All my stories come with a guarantee that you will crack a smile, find a happily-ever-after ending, and never have to deal with an annoying cliffhanger. There’s also no cheating, no billionaires, no bigfoot sightings, and plenty of character backstory.

Now, tell us Yes or No for each answer below. Feel free to explain any (or none) of your answers.

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?

No, it is my fourth full length novel!

this book is part of a series?

No, it is a stand-alone novel.

you lost sleep while writing this book?

Yes, it kept me awake with new ideas for scenes. I fell in love with the characters and didn’t want the story to end.

you did research for this book?

Yes, I had to research Genies and Ancient Egypt. I also researched ritual scenes with raspberries that are Rated R! How’s that for a tongue twister?

some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)

No, everyone is human. Well, I guess the genie is a genie.

this book has more than one genre?

Yes, BBW, Romance, Comedy, Suspense, Paranormal.

you speak more than one language?

    Yes, my German is passable.

you grew up where you live now?

    Yes

    you love to read?

Yes! Of course I do! My Kindle is bursting at the seams!

    you are never late?

Yes, I’m always early for everything.

    you love pizza?

Yes, I would eat it for every meal

    you love sushi?

No! My food tastes are very wimpy.

    you have a pet?

Yes, I have a Labrador retriever.

I would first and foremost like to thank everyone for taking the time to give my stories a chance. My goal is to take you out of your world, and all the stresses that go along with everyday life, and bring you into my world of romance and fantasy. I have a special weakness for hot alpha males and the feisty heroines who love them. Above all else, I hope you got a laugh out of my book. I aim to incorporate as much comedy into my romance as is humanly possible.

My professional biography is as follows (I’m not sure why it’s in the third person, evidently that’s the rule): Grace is happiest when reading, eating Portillos hot dogs, and patiently waiting for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

    Spirits of the Heart @gemwriter #RLFblog #supernatural #suspense

Welcome Claire Gem author of Spirits of the Heart, a new Supernatural
    Suspense.
Why did you write this book?
    I grew up in
Middletown, N.Y, where there was an abandoned mental asylum. The place always
haunted me. I’ve always been very interested in the history of mental health
care (which is a ghoulish history to be sure!), so it seemed the natural place
to set my next supernatural suspense.
    Then, during the
writing of the book, I was visiting the property with my sister/cover designer,
taking pictures for the trailer. One particular building, Talcott Hall, kept
calling to me, though I couldn’t get too close because of the 8-foot high chain
link perimeter. Two weeks later, the building mysteriously burned to the
ground—after standing empty for almost 30 years. It was then I knew that
Spirits of the Heart must be written, to immortalize Talcott Hall.
What is your favorite genre to read?
    Contemporary romances,
particularly those with supernatural elements, especially ghosts. I’m a ghost
    hunter at heart.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
    Films, not
books—Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
What are you working on at the moment?
    My next novel is
called Pigments, and is another supernatural suspense. The blurb:
There’s an unsolved mystery in the world of art
history: which painting was Vincent Van Gogh’s last?
Rachel Parrish is a DNA analyst with peculiar a
psychic ability: psychometry. She can access the memories of a person from
something they touched, thereby leaving their genetic blueprint behind. She
also suffers from some unusual phobias. She’s terrified of visual art,
    particularly of . . . paintings?
Duncan Nicklas is a sexy museum curator who comes
to Rachel’s aid when an unplanned museum visit overwhelms her. He’s searching
for his soulmate: another, like-minded antiquarian to complete his life. His
initial fascination with Rachel’s gift develops into something more—but she’s
terrified of paintings. He’s a museum curator. How can this ever work?
And then there’s Ethan Fagan—who’s determined to
claim Rachel as his own. To use her abilities to validate an obscure painting
in his grandfather’s collection. To secure his fortune. No matter what the
    cost.
Pigments. It’s all in the touch.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
    In addition to
Pigments, I’m working on a non-fiction book for fiction writers called The Road
to Publication. I’m hoping that will be released sometime before April 1st.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.

out, leaving Laura alone with the gorgeous but intimidating ex-boyfriend—in a
house that snugs up to an ancient graveyard. Officer Miller Stanford is a man with a shattered past.
His alcoholic dad destroyed their family, a weakness Miller is terrified will
consume him too. The last thing he needs is a sexy, blonde addiction counselor
watching his every move. When he begins to see specters in the dark, he starts
    questioning his own stability.

    Prison Made of Mirrors @JenniferTLoring #RLFblog #darkfantasy #PNR

Welcome Jennifer Loring author of Prison Made of Mirrors, a
    new dark fantasy/paranormal romance.
    Why did you write
    this book?
I started it many years ago, after being inspired by Tanith
Lee’s wonderful White as Snow. Fairy tale retellings have always been one of my
favorite things to write; this novella is an homage to one of my biggest
influences, who unfortunately passed away in 2015.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
It will probably always be horror, though I do read some
romance (mostly PNR and historical). I also love non-fiction.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Two are characters I’ve loved since I was a
teenager—Irrylath from The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and Zach
from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood. I also adore Constantine from Robin
McKinley’s Sunshine. Two out of three are vampires, so I guess that says a lot
    about me. J
    What are you working
    on at the moment?
A Gothic/paranormal romance novella for After Glows
Publishing, concepts for a narrative game, and a lot of short fiction. I
    probably won’t work on a novel-length project again until 2018, though I’ll
likely write another novella this year.
    What books will we see
    from you in coming months?
April will bring the final book of The Firebird Trilogy (The
Pieces of Us) from Limitless Publishing; the fairy tale anthology Forest
Seclusion, featuring my transgender romantic fantasy story “If Only You Were
Someone Else,” from Supposed Crimes; and the first Erotikós anthology—containing
two of my erotic horror short stories—from DarkFuse. In May, I’ll be in a
contemporary romance anthology called Craving: Bad, and later in the year, I’ll
appear in Crystal Lake Publishing’s Tales from the Lake vol. 4. I still have
quite a few short stories, novellas, and novelettes submitted to various
publishers, so hopefully this list will be updating soon!
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
    Genre: dark fantasy/paranormal romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Aithne is a warrior kidnapped from her homeland during a

behind—including a magic mirror—Aithne descends into a madness that threatens
not only her child’s life but also the lives of everyone around her.
Exiled by her mother, Brenna is taken in by a clan of dwarves who treat her
like their own. They soon learn that no one is immune to Aithne’s lunacy—not
even the prince to whom Brenna was once betrothed. Brenna must face and conquer

    When Ash Remains @DenaGarson #RLFblog #PNR #historical

When Ash Remains @DenaGarson #RLFblog #PNR #historicalWelcome Dena Garson author of When Ash Remains, a new Native American historical paranormal romance.

Why did you write this book?
In truth, because a friend of mine nagged me for years to write it. The secondary reason was because the myths and legends of the Skinwalker fascinated me. I live in Oklahoma so some of those Native American stories seem a little more, well… real.
What is your favorite genre to read?
It depends on my mood – it’s a mix of historical, paranormal, contemporary, fantasy, urban fantasy, and sci-fi romance. That’s probably why I write in so many of those categories!
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Doctor Who. Not only does he get to travel across the universe(s) but through time. He has seen (experienced) all kinds of people, places, and cultures. And yet he is a protector and has a strong sense of equality and respect for life. I hope that series runs for another 50 years!
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on a Steampunk romance as well as a follow up to Mystic’s Touch.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
The Steampunk romance will be part of a box set that comes out later this year. And I’d like to get into a sci-fi romance set that a group has been putting together for later this year. *fingers crossed*
Please tell us about your latest book.
    Genre: Native American historical-paranormal

    A warrior with a mission
There isn’t a buffalo or deer that Kajika cannot take down. So when his cousin is slaughtered he relishes the chance to track down the killer. The trail leads him to a woman with gifts he has trouble believing in. Despite their differences he cannot fight his instinct to protect her from all threats – even those he cannot see. That drive even rivals his desire to explore every inch of her body.
    A woman with a destiny
Knowing the spirits will protect her, Ahyoka allows the handsome warrior to take her to be questioned by his chief about the unexplained deaths in their village. He may not believe in her abilities but he is one of the few who doesn’t treat her like something to be feared or shunned. He awakens feelings that make her yearn for things she thought she’d never have. Her biggest fear is that once he learns the full extent of her gifts he will reject her like most of her tribe did.
A killer twisted by hurt and anger
Kajika and Ahyoka must work together to find the one responsible for the string of deaths in and around their villages. Faith, trust, and even a little bit of love will be needed to defeat the killer and right the wrongs committed in the pursuit of power and revenge.

Call me Contessa. Forget my name, you couldn’t pronounce it.
I’m a professional chef—actually, I’m the LeBron James of chefs. Bobby Flay, Gordon
Ramsay even Julia Childs have all been my students, and that’s just a few. I’ve
probably forgotten more about the culinary arts than any chef alive has
learned. I was in the thick of things when today’s conventional culinary
techniques were first being developed. You ever used the three basic steps in
dicing an onion? Prego. That was me. Ever heard of clarified butter? Bingo. Me
    again.
How can that be? I was born in Genoa, Italy in the year of our Lord 1642. That’s
right. I’m an Eternal, a creature of darkness, a vampire…and I’m obsessed by
    what I cannot eat. Food.
Ironically, I’m the star of my very own cooking show on the Foodie Culinary
Channel. My dream job! Where I get to create the recipes I adore and share them
with my audience and one lucky dinner guest. Which is where my troubles began.
    And will end.
I was caught partaking the red jungle juice from the neck of my dinner date. I
was threatened, attacked with Holy water, and finally blackmailed by my
mild-mannered joke of an Associate Producer. As it turns out, she isn’t so
    mild-mannered.
Now I have two choices: turn her into a child of darkness or risk exposure to
    the human world.
I’m thinking there’s a third choice. His name is Rocco Guadagnino
[Review — I adored this book! It’s a quick read and more addictive than my
    husband’s four-meat marinara. Fast-paced, quirky dialogue and a sweet
