Monica La Porta author of The Lonely Wolf @momilp #RLFblog #paranormal

Monica La Porta author of The Lonely Wolf answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Monica La Porta is an Italian who landed in Seattle several
years ago. Despite popular feelings about the Northwest weather, she finds the
mist and the rain the perfect conditions to write. Being a strong advocate of
universal acceptance and against violence in any form and shape, she is also
glad to have landed precisely in Washington State. She is the author of The
Ginecean Chronicles, a dystopian/science fiction series set on the planet
Ginecea where women rule over a race of enslaved men and heterosexual love is
considered a sin. She also published two other series: the futuristic love
story across the universe, Elios & Gaia, narrated in two books; and the
paranormal romance/urban fantasy series The Immortals set in Rome. Stop by her
blog to read about her miniatures, sculptures, paintings, and her beloved beagle,
Nero. Sometimes, she also posts about her writing.
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
Like every Italian, I love to cook, but I must have been
Japanese in another life, because my favorite family style meal is a big pot of
ramen soup, filled with fresh ingredients.
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
    Either sushi or dim sum.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
Cancun, my husband, and a kindle.
    What are your hobbies?
When I am not reading or walking, I paint, make sculptures
with pasta ceramica (a homemade dough made with corn flour and white glue,) build
dollhouses, and I create felt food to decorate my Christmas tree.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
Love stories, in any genre. Paranormal with a sprinkle of
dystopian and steampunk is my favorite, but I love space opera as well.

Tricia Schneider author of The Witch’s Kiss @TriciaSchneider #RLFblog #paranormalromance

Tricia Schneider author of The Witch’s Kiss answers five easy
questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Tricia Schneider is an author of paranormal and gothic
romance. Before the supernatural took possession of her pen, she worked for several
years in a Waldenbooks store as Assistant Manager and bookseller. Since the
closing of the bookstore, she now writes full-time while raising her 4 young
children. She lives with her musician husband and 2 neurotic cats in the coal
    country of Pennsylvania
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
I’m the fortunate wife of a man who loves to cook. Since I
tend to burn everything I try to create in the kitchen, this situation works
well for us. Marc makes many amazing dishes, but my favorite is grilled salmon
with a baked sweet potato. He also makes delicious meatloaf and lasagna,
    too.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
About 10 years ago, my husband and I visited some friends in
Germany. We fell in love with area so much that we considered moving there.
Since we didn’t get to see everything that was on our list during that trip, my
perfect vacation would be going back there. Hiking trails in the Black Forest
to visit the castles that are nestled in the hills, spending a relaxing day
visiting the Marktplatz while eating an ice cream cone, sipping Hefeweissbier and
people watching at a village café, and walking the cobblestone streets with my
husband’s hand in mine are a few of the things I’d like to do.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
My bicycle. It was something I had wanted for years. When I
was about 9, my grandmother bought one for me. I practiced riding up and down
the driveway every day, falling and scraping my arms and knees (my parents saw
no need for protective pads or helmets back in the ‘80s). Every time I fell,
I’d get right back up and try again. I was so happy when I finally learned how
to ride. I spent countless hours riding my bike every summer for years.
    What are your hobbies?
I like crafts. Cross-stitch and crotchet are my favorite,
usually in the winter while watching hockey games on TV with Marc. I’m also an
amateur genealogist. Researching my family tree has been a hobby of mine since
I was a teenager and first learned from my grandmother that I had American
Indian ancestry. On my search for my native ancestors, I also wanted to
discover where my red hair came from when both of my parents were born with
    dark brown.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I read anything. Really. If it has words, I’ll read it.
While romance has always been my favorite genre since I was a teen, I also
enjoy reading urban fantasy and classical literature. My favorite authors are
Kelley Armstrong, Gayle Wilson, Julia Quinn, Daphne du Maurier, Jane Austen and
    Charlotte Bronte.

Naomi Bellina asks Do Werewolves Get Old #PNR @TheGoddessNaomi #RLFblog

    Guest Post with Naomi Bellina

    Do werewolves get old?
One of the best parts about reading
paranormal books is seeing how each author creates her world. You have to make
rules for your kingdom, then stick with them. Supernatural beings can have many
characteristics. How can they be killed? What are their weaknesses? Their
strengths? Do they live forever?  I want
my were-creatures to age. Yes, they live longer, healthier lives than humans
but they do grow old. And it sucks! That’s one of the themes I had big fun
playing with in Sins of Long Ago.
    Imagine you’re an alpha werewolf,
used to being in charge, to getting what and who you want. One day, you start
to notice lines on your face that weren’t there yesterday. You move a little
slower in a fight, want to come in sooner from a moon run. You’re aging, like you
knew you would, and like us regular old mortals, you start to think about
serious shit. The fun and games of youth are over and your thoughts turn to the
future. To family, friends, and maybe leaving behind some kind of legacy.
I had a challenge with one
particular scene in Sins. My editor
asked me to change it, because it made Vincent, my hero, look kind of sleazy.
The scene is important because it helps show his vulnerability when he’s
treated differently than he expects, due to his “mature” nature. I rose
to the challenge and came up with a great compromise that my editor and I both
loved. Vincent keeps his morals intact but I still got to make him suffer a
little at the hands of a wily woman.
I hope no matter what your age, you
enjoy reading Sins of Long Ago as
much as I enjoyed writing it.

    About the Book

    Title Sins of Long Ago
    Genre Paranormal Romance
    Author Naomi Bellina
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
    Werewolves and humans don’t mix.
Until danger forces an alliance and desire demands satisfaction.
    Leading his pack of werewolves
keeps Vincent plenty busy, and now with a predator out to harm them, life is
more perilous than ever. The last thing he needs is a woman to complicate
matters, especially one who sets his body and soul on fire. She’s a human and a
witch — totally the wrong woman for him. Even if he could take a mate for his
own, he refuses to put her in the danger his life has become. No way can they
ever be together. Werewolf-style love is fine anyway. No permanent partner, no
    bullshit, no heartache.
    Genevieve has never known true
love. Cursed by an enraged woman long
ago, females in her family are doomed to go insane if they fall in love. Life
has been fine without a man around– until a hot werewolf drops in and captures
her heart. Though they have plenty of obstacles to overcome, Gen knows they can
work past them. Tell that to Vincent, as he struggles with old pack rules about
love, sex, and consorting with humans.
As Vincent searches for a killer,
deals with death among his own, and tries to keep his hands off Gen, she
attempts to end her family curse. Together, they must find a way to break free
from the sins of long ago.

  • Character Interviews,  Paranormal

    Dylan Holt from The Assistant @KTBlack_author #incubi #succubus #RLFblog

    Interview with Dylan Holt

This interview is designed for your hero or heroine to tell
    readers about himself or herself.
    Tell us about
    yourself, please.
I come from a long line of
succubus/incubi, and history hasn’t always painted my kind in the best light,
nor has it gotten things completely accurate. I’m not a “Demon”, but
I’m not human either, even though I do resemble one. An extremely attractive
one. <Shrugs and grins smugly>. I know that makes me sound egotistical,
but it’s part of how I’m able to draw humans to me.
    So, I’m guessing you’re wondering
if part of what you’ve heard is true. Do I enter into dreams and tempt humans
with erotic suggestions? Absolutely! It is my nature after all. The sexier the
dreams, the more potent the energy for me to feed from.
Now don’t look at me like that.
Before you go judging me, I must point out that this isn’t entirely one-sided.
I don’t drain the life force of anyone I’m involved with. I do take what I
require, but I also give them something in return. The inspiration to pursue
    the thing they desire most.
As far as me in general, I’m a bit
of a wanderer, able to adapt to any situation. A true “Jack of All Trades”.
I’m a whiz with modern technology, which comes in handy. For a long time I
thought I was happy moving from town to town, person to person, and then I
encountered Elise Bennette. That’s when everything changed. She made me want to
set down roots and get lost in her dreams.
What can you not do (but
need to do) during this story?
I’m much more than I appear. I need
to be honest with Elise, and show her the real me, but I fear once she learns
all the details, it will drive her away.
    What inner doubt
    causes you the most difficulty?
Trusting that I can find someone to
love and accept me for what I am. Until I met Elise, I seemed to only  find two types of people. Those who thought I
was a freak, when they discovered what I’m able to do, and others who were
drawn to me because of what makes me unique.
    Tell us about your
significant other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
From the first time I encountered
Elise Bennette I knew she was special. She is a strong, smart, beautiful woman
full of many wondrous dreams. She just needed someone to believe in her when
    others had let her down.
    What would that
    person say about you?
I’m reliable and a hard worker. She
tries to pretend she doesn’t like me, but I know better. Even if I didn’t
possess the abilities I do, she’s made it more than obvious that she’s
    interested in me.
    What special skills
    do you rely on?
When humans let down their guard, I
can look in, examine their dreams. Dreams give a lot away about a person. It
shows their hopes and fears, but I am respectful about what I discover.
I also have the ability to enhance
dreams, make them seem real. It helps to entice the human I’m pursuing to keep
dreaming. If things progress to an intimate relationship, even better, but I
don’t generally stick around after the relationship is consummated.
    Why are you happy (or
not happy) with the way your story ended?
You’ll have to read the story to learn
    mine and Elise’s fate.

    About the Writer

    K.T.
Black often mixes genres when creating her romance stories. Whether her (F/F or
F/M) stories are filled with witches or regular people, they frequently include
mystery/suspense, sci-fi, fantasy or paranormal elements. She never limits the
direction her imagination takes her when telling a good story.
When she’s not writing, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going
to movies, cooking, traveling, playing video games, and meeting
interesting/eccentric people–many of whom help color the worlds she creates
    while writing.
    What was your biggest
    challenge in writing this book?
Mostly finishing it. My life turned
upside down a few months ago. I’m still trying to get back to my regular
    writing routine.
    Why did you choose
this character for the interview today?
I felt I needed to elaborate a bit
more about Dylan’s background. What better way than to have him tell you first
    hand.
    When writing the
book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
Dylan started out as a regular guy,
but as usual, I ended up taking a paranormal turn with him. This often happens.
I think I’m in control and it’s the characters that show me what to write.
    Are any sequels
    planned for this book?
This is a stand alone, but I am
considering doing a series based around it once I finish with another series
I’m currently working on. I write both F/F and F/M and see some interesting
    potential with this plot line.
    Why should readers
who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
I believe that my stories read like
you’re watching a movie. That you, as the reader, will be completely immersed
and caught up in the energy of the story.
    Is there anything
you’d like to say to your readers?
I appreciate each and every one of
you who have taken a chance to delve into the world of my imagination. I hope
you enjoy reading what I write as much as I enjoy writing it.
