Sometimes romance can be hell
Wendy Dennison is tired of being a starving author. The royalties from her critically acclaimed romance novels barely pay her bills. Her devoted agent Daniel Rochester may be smart and sexy, but he can’t get her the sales she needs. Then a charismatic stranger appears at her coffee shop table, promising her fame and commercial success, as well as the chance to live out her dreams of erotic submission. But at what cost?
Nothing you can’t afford to lose, my dear.
Seduced by the enigmatic Mister B, she signs his infernal contract. He becomes both her Master and her coach, managing her suddenly flourishing career as well as encouraging her lusts. Under her mentor’s nefarious influence, she surrenders to temptation and has sex with Daniel. The casual encounter turns serious when she discovers her mild mannered agent has a dominant side. As the clock ticks down to her blockbuster release and Mister B prepares to claim her soul, Wendy must choose either celebrity and wealth, or obscurity and true love.
Note: This release is part of my Paranormal January promotion. New editions of four paranormal titles are coming this month – each one at a special price of only 99 cents! Check my blog today, 15 January, for news about the next release in this event!

Know the Heroine from The Journeyman’s Trial by Lisabet Sarai @LisabetSarai #RLFblog #Steampunk
Victorian engineering prodigy Gillian Smith has found a home, a community and a vocation in Lisabet Sarai’s steam punk erotic romance The Journeyman’s Trial. Desire stimulates creativity in the Toymakers Guild. But what happens when two Guild members fall in love?
Lisabet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about The Journeyman’s Trial.
The Journeyman’s Trial by Lisabet Sarai
Steampunk erotica/erotic romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): X-rated
Technically brilliant and thoroughly wanton, Gillian Smith has found her vocation: designing innovative erotic devices for the Toymakers Guild. Lust is a lubricant to creativity at Randerley Hall. But what happens when two Toymakers fall in love?
The Guild’s tribe of talented, uninhibited engineers has embraced Gillian as one of their own. Edward Thorne, the perverse genius who founded the Guild, undertakes to train her in the skills she’ll need as a journeyman, from practical mind-reading to transcendental orgasms.
As Gillian labours to impress the charismatic Master, her enigmatic fellow journeyman Rafe both entices and frustrates her. Their passion seems to go beyond mere appetite, but in Randerley’s promiscuous and permissive environment, does love make any sense?
When the Toymakers receive a commission to equip London’s most exclusive brothel with the latest sexual technology, Gillian has the chance to demonstrate her formidable abilities as well as to help Rafe exorcise the demons of his past. She doesn’t realize she’ll be forced to choose between Rafe and her future in the Guild.
Know the Heroine from The Journeyman’s Trial
Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Gillian Smith doesn’t spend a huge amount of mental energy on her appearance. While working in the Randerley Hall laboratory, designing and building sex toys, she usually wears an ankle-length, heavy linen lab coat which has lots of pockets and which buttons up the front. When she’s sent to London to meet with potential clients, however, she’ll don more fashionable attire, the fitted bodices and multi-layered skirts and petticoats typical of the Victorian period, often in silk or velvet. She might even wear a hat and veil.
Does she know how to fix things?
Gillian is a highly skilled engineer, the only child of two famous inventors responsible for a range of steam punk technical devices including the piezoelectric pocket watch and the personal gramophone. They educated her at home, fostering her intellectual and technical skills. Thus, she can fix almost anything, whether it’s electrical or mechanical. Her specialty, however, is mathematics and logic.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
For much of The Journeyman’s Trial, Gillian is trying to create a system to automatically control mechanical devices based on stored instructions – basically, to invent the first programmable computer. She encounters many obstacles, and feels both frustrated and depressed. With a realistic appreciation of her own intelligence and skill, she is accustomed to success in technical matters. Her apparent failure to create an Analytical Engine that works according to her requirements undermines her self-confidence and actually reduces her to tears on one occasion – a most uncharacteristic reaction for her.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Gillian’s definitely a morning person. She likes to be in the lab by 7:30 or 8:00 AM, especially when she has a deadline. When she wakes, she’s immediately alert, rather than groggy.
She also likes to eat a hearty breakfast, including at least one cup of strong tea without sugar.
How does she handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
The denizens of Randerley Hall – the members of the Toymakers Guild – are not sticklers for propriety. Indeed, one might say that they are rebels, defying the repressive morality of the Victorian era and seeking freedom from the prudish society that surrounds them. Gillian fits right in. She has little patience for social niceties and is often direct to the point of being blunt.
She does know how to behave, however, and can be polite and genteel under the right circumstance – for instance, when she is interacting with the suave, attractive Duke of Anselm.
Powdered wig or natural hair?
Wigs had mostly fallen out of fashion in the Victorian era, aside from individuals who had unnatural hair loss. Gillian has lovely, curly auburn hair which is often somewhat unkempt. She wears it pulled back when she is working, and collected into a loose knot at the top of her head on more formal occasions.
Carriage or horseback?
Rail travel is probably the most common mode of transportation used in The Journeyman’s Trial. Randerley Hall is in Devon, in the vicinity of Tavistock which was a major market town. Frequent trains connected the town to London, and the characters make use of them on a number of occasions.
The book does include several chapters in which Gillian ventures out onto the moors on horseback. She’s not an experienced horsewoman, especially at first, but her fellow journeyman Rafe encourages her and teaches her the rudiments of riding. This is fortunate, since at a later stage in the story, she’s forced to ride out alone to rescue him.
Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

Writing was the escape #CancerAwareness by Sara R Stewart author of Bound by Pride #Romance #RLFblog
Welcome to day five of Cancer Awareness posts for 2021 on RLFblog. Today’s guest is Sara R Stewart.
I’m a new author, having only three books out today and my newest release is Bound by Pride. Four years ago my mom was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiform, which is a fast-growing brain cancer for which no cure exists. She was given an average life expectancy of 14 months, but there were no guarantees. My mom’s cancer grew in the part of her brain that controls speech so one day everything was normal, and the next day they thought she must have had a stroke because she couldn’t speak properly any longer. I never got to talk to my mom again with her voice intact.
I flew to where my mom was being rushed into brain surgery in California, and then moved her after she was safe to fly, to New Hampshire to live with me. We did radiation and chemotherapy and were so blessed to have 2.5 years where the cancer was on pause. My mom maintained an incredible attitude, and spirit despite being unable to speak and having so much to say. During this time, I was holding down a full-time job and threw myself into writing the book I’d been wanting to write my entire life to escape from the near-constant depression, anger, and grief of losing my mom slowly and having already lost my mom’s words. My mom was my biggest fan and always made me feel so loved.
When the pandemic hit, having the kids home, and limiting the little mobility my mom had left hit us all hard. Then Mom’s cancer came back in full force in June of 2020, right before I published book 1 and 2 of my series in August and September. We did another brain surgery to remove what could be removed, followed by intensive radiation, and began chemotherapy again. It quickly became apparent that my mom wasn’t going to bounce back this time. Mom told me she was ready to go, and so in October of 2020 we discontinued treatment. Mom went into in-home hospice care in January of 2021, and then on the last Saturday of February, she passed.
My writing was my escape, feeling like I had some control on what was happening around me and something I’m so grateful for. I have always love to read and used it to get through some of the most difficult times of my life so it only made sense that writing helped me to serve the same purpose. Cancer fucking sucks. I miss my mom every day, but she got to see me accomplish my dream before she passed and I’m so grateful for having that time with her.

Stressing the Hero from The Gazillionaire and the Virgin a scorching #HotRead #Romance by Lisabet Sarai @lisabetsarai #RLFblog
When Silicon Valley entrepreneur Rachel Zelinsky meets reclusive genius Theo Moore, she finds him strangely compelling. Theo is both arrogant and socially awkward, but he has an aura of power that speaks to Rachel’s carefully-hidden submissive side.
The Gazillionaire and the Virgin
Genre MF Contemporary BDSM Erotic Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): X
Disturbed and aroused, she tries to focus on her original objective—a deal to incorporate his Artificial Intelligence software into her company’s popular virtual world. Rachel’s not a woman who lets pleasure interfere with business, but for some reason, she can’t resist Theo’s geeky appeal.
Theo Moore can’t be bought. His past battles with poverty make him deeply suspicious of the billionaire CEO. Still, with her voluptuous curves and brilliant mind, Rachel embodies his ultimate sexual fantasy. Too bad his knowledge about sex derives from extensive research and a stash of kinky porn rather than real-world experience.
That doesn’t bother Rachel, however. In his bed—in his arms—in his bonds—she discovers the bliss of total surrender. Rachel may be Theo’s first lover, but Theo is Rachel’s first true Master—and the first man to truly touch her heart. It seems that love may harmonize their differing goals and values, until Rachel’s unwitting violation of Theo’s trust threatens to tear them apart forever.
Stressing The Hero
Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.
The Hero’s Relaxed Side
This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.
Theo actually does attend a party in the book, a fund-raising event for his technology charity Code in the Hood (CIH) that’s organized by the heroine, Rachel Zelinsky. The event takes place at the Computer History Museum, a real museum in Silicon Valley. There’s an open bar, a buffet, a band playing soft rock, and lots of technology executives with cash to burn milling around.
He’s anything but relaxed, though!
How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?
He’d rather be almost anywhere else. He parks himself at a table in the corner and fidgets with the CIH brochures stacked up in the center, at least until Rachel drags him out to socialize with potential donors.
Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
He’d much rather remain aloof, but Rachel won’t let him. However, once he gets started talking about the charity which is his personal passion, his nervousness disappears.
If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?
At this party he has his first taste of champagne. And he likes it very much!
How much drink is his usual?
Theo hardly ever drinks. Once he tastes the champagne, though, he wants more.
The hero figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
Theo would love to hide. Crowds and strangers make him terribly anxious.
Is he likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is he the friend that others latch onto?
He hangs on to Rachel for dear life. She’s the only person he knows at the party, and the only one who can keep him from panicking.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero going to handle it?
If you asked Theo this question in the abstract, he’d tell you that he’d run and hide. In fact, he’d probably try to break up the fight, then possibly freak out afterward.
Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
He’s not likely to get tossed out. He’s generally pretty mild-mannered. It’s pretty difficult to imagine him tossing anyone else out, though physically he could manage this.
Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
He’d rather not be there at all, so he’d probably leave as soon as he could slip away.
The Hero’s Stressed Out Side
How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?
He will try to reason with the cops. He might get sarcastic. If he’s not successful in convincing them to release him, he’ll probably sulk.
How does the hero react to hearing a scream?
His first reaction will be to try and discover who screamed, and why. If he believes someone is being hurt, he’ll temporarily forget his self-consciousness
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
He wonders what was going on, and why.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
In fact, he probably wades into the fray, trying to pull the assailant off the victim. Later, he won’t believe he’s done this.
This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?
When Theo can’t utilize his physical skills to implement the rescue, he’ll fall back on his intellectual abilities. He’ll try to figure out some way to trick his opponents, or to sneak away.
The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does he do?
He becomes very stiff and formal. He keep his words to a minimum, saying only what is absolutely necessary.
Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
He’s surprisingly bossy, giving instructions and perhaps getting a bit impatient if the person in charge doesn’t obey. He might resort to sarcasm or ridicule.
The hero is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell himself in order to get through the situation?
He thinks about the safety and comfort of his home, and how good it will feel to finally arrive there.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“Don’t underestimate yourself. Expect to succeed.”
What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?
He remembers how he saved Rachel from a cyber-assault. That reminds him how powerful he really is.

Find out what Calla from Calla’s Summer Fantasy wears to bed. Amber Daulton “bares” all @AmberDaulton1 #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance
Two men. One date. What’s a girl to do? Calla’s Summer Fantasy is about to come true. A contemporary romance by Amber Daulton.
Amber, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Calla’s Summer Fantasy.
Calla’s Summer Fantasy by Amber Daulton
Genre: Erotic Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): NC-17
Calla Lansky needs help at playing the field.
She scheduled two dates for the same night at her favorite seafood restaurant, and she owes her shocked boyfriends an explanation. To her surprise, Nathan Risley and Sam Tomlin handle the awkward situation like pros and happily agree to her ultimate fantasy: a ménage à trois.
After the hottest night of her life, Calla faces the ultimate decision.
Should she commit to the one man who secretly loved her all along, or keep her options open and indulge in her summer fantasy again and again?
Let’s bare it all and chat about what to wear
First, what is your name and how old are you?
Call me Calla, and I’m twenty-eight years old.
What is the time period in which you live?
It’s modern day. I live in Wilmington, North Carolina, and my apartment is way too far from the beach for my liking. God, I hate battling traffic just to splash in the water and roll around in the sand, but hey, a girl’s gotta sunbathe.
Considering the role you play in society, what is expected for you to wear?
I’m a bookkeeper at a law office, so I have more plaid and pencil skirts than I care to admit. And all the mauve and beige high-neck blouses—yuck. I mean, I know I have to look the part and dress professionally, but I would love to wear bright, flashy red to work just once—just once, mind you—but then I’d get chewed out by my boss, so nope. Not gonna happen. I’ve worked too hard to throw it away on some workplace fashion faux pas.
Ever required to wear something you don’t like? Tell us about it.
Well, it’s not like I don’t think some of my work clothes are pretty, but I’m so tired of them. On the weekends, though, is when I can finally cut loose and dress in wild colors and low necklines.
Do you make your own clothing?
Oh, I wish. My cousin, Melba, is the seamstress in the family.
When you wear something different, who’s the first person who notices?
Nathan. He’s always so attentive and respectful, unless we’re behind closed doors and he’s pulling my hair, but I digress.
Tell us your favorite thing to wear.
Colorful, flirty summer dresses. I love how the skirts sway and swish as I walk. I feel so feminine.
What kind of shoes or boots do you wear?
Sandals with rhinestone studs are to my go-to footwear for casual outings, but I love high heels and cute little suede boot-boots.
What do you wear to sleep?
If I’m sleeping alone, I’ll wear a T-shirt and be comfortable. If I’m with Nathan or Sam, it’s a toss-up. I’m either in my birthday suit or some flimsy scrap of lace or silk that might be ripped by morning. I never know with my guys.
