    A Knight for Kallen @LaurenLinwood #RLFblog #medievalromance #RLFblog

Lauren Linwood author of A Knight for Kallen answers five easy
questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Lauren Linwood’s historical romances use history as a backdrop to place her characters in extraordinary circumstances, where their intense desire for one another grows into the treasured gift of love. Her romantic suspense novels feature strong heroes and heroines who unite to defeat a clever antagonist and discover a deep, abiding love during their journey.
A native Texan, Lauren is an avid reader, moviegoer, and sports fan who manages stress by alternating yoga with long walks. She plans to start a support group for House Hunters addicts—as soon as she finishes her next piece of dark chocolate.
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
I’ve got to go old school here—meatloaf, mashed potatoes,
and green beans. And a brownie accompanied by a scoop of ice cream would
    certainly top things off right!
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
Tex-Mex is my favorite, but if I can stick some shrimp
    inside those enchiladas? Magic!
    Describe the perfect vacation.
I love a mix of sightseeing and relaxation. I had a friend
who just completed this same vacation, and I think I’d like to copy her. She and
her husband flew to London with another couple and did tons of sightseeing, and
then they did a walking tour through the Cotswolds. Their luggage was sent
ahead each morning, and they walked about 10 miles a day for 4 days, taking
their time to see the countryside and stop in at local pubs along the way.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
It has to be my blue bicycle. I would jump on it and be
transported to another world. I felt independent and free when I rode it.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I crave thrillers! Especially if they have a twist of
history in them. Steve Berry and Brad Meltzer are great about mixing those two
things into an action-packed thrill ride.

    A dead husband. An unconsummated
marriage. She needs an heir. Any man will do.
1061 AD. A sprawling empire rich in
gold, resources, and military might dominates West Africa. It’s The Kingdom of
Ghana, and it’s at the height of its power.
    Twenty-year old Nabeela is
grappling with her own power struggle. In order to save her younger sister from
their step-brother’s clutches, Nabeela agrees to marry a repulsive African
prince and bear him an heir. However, her plans are waylaid when tragedy
strikes on her wedding night—her new husband dies—without consummating their
    marriage.
She must find a replacement to
impregnate her immediately. Any man will do—including a drunken soldier her
servants find naked taking a bath in a neighboring village. Nabeela holds him
captive and coerces him into having sex with her—stealing the one thing he can
    never get back—his seed.
What she doesn’t know is the
soldier is Rafan, Commander of a warring tribe’s royal army, and one of her
family’s arch enemies. Eager for revenge, Rafan tracks her down once he’s
released. But when these two reunite, they realize their lust for each other is
    far greater than their disdain.
    Enamored by Nabeela’s beauty and
bravery, Rafan makes her an offer of marriage, and the promise to help her
become queen. He convinces her that they are stronger allies than enemies. Even
though they share a commitment to unite, there are others who are determined to
destroy them and their plans, including the one person Nabeela would have never
suspected. In the end, she’s is forced to choose between her passion and her
    ambition.

    Veronica Bale author A Noble Deception @VeronicaBale1 #RLFblog #HistFic

Veronica Bale author of A Noble Deception answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Veronica Bale has written several novellas, short stories, and news articles as a freelance writer. With her Highland Loyalties trilogy she made her debut into the world of historical romance novels. Veronica lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband, young son and two spoiled cats. When she’s not writing she’s running, reading, spending time with her family, or hopelessly lost in the cobbles of Coronation Street.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
This may not technically count, since I’ve only had it twice, but let it suffice to say that it’s my new go-to meal. It’s called Dubblin Coddle, and if you haven’t had it, you must try it! It’s a creamy bacon and sausage stew that tastes like loaded potato skins, and it’s been a staple of Irish cuisine for as long as anyone can remember. I discovered Dublin Coddle when I tried a little Irish pub called The Snug in the small town of Newcastle Ontario. I was immediately hooked. Since that fateful day three weeks ago, I’ve been back twice more. My family agrees unilaterally that it’s our new go-to pub, and Dublin Coddle is my new go-to meal!
    Describe the perfect vacation.
My perfect vacation? Why, Scotland, of course! I’ve been twice, and I dream of returning at least once a week. Travelling the Highland countryside, visiting small villages, and taking in all that history suits me perfectly. Lots of time for quiet reflection, for writing, and for reading, all in my favourite setting. What more could one ask for out of a vacation?
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
Gah … this is embarrassing to admit, but I kind of still have it. It’s not a toy, really, it’s my baby blanket. It was once yellow. It once had a cartoon tiger imprinted on it. It once had evenly distributed stuffing. Now, twenty-nine (and holding) years later, I must have my “little blanket” to sleep with, tucked under my cheek, or I won’t sleep well. I have no intention of giving it up, and fully expect to be buried with it. My husband has long ago reconciled himself to having to compete with a blanket for my affections.
    What are your hobbies?
Besides reading and writing? I’m an avid knitter. It’s such a relaxing hobby. Everyone’s into Mandala right now, but I turn to knitting for stress reduction. I also love to run. Being outside in the fresh air and pounding the pavement with my headphones on – there’s nothing better.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I’m a voracious reader, and I love the written word in all its forms. When I read for pleasure, I go through phases. Right now, I’m in a Chick Lit groove. Last year, I had a bit of a thing for Dickens. And at some point (I don’t quite recall when), I was switching back and forth between Game of Thrones and heavy non-fiction tomes on topics ranging from The Troubles, to the first world war, to the culinary landscape of Marie Antoinette’s court.

Forced to wed a landless knight in order to protect her home, Moira MacInnes intends an annulment of her marriage to the arrogant Lachlan Ramsay as soon as possible. Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan.
Scotland 1455 – The Douglas clan is at war with their king. To protect his lands from confiscation, Lord John Douglas, the dying Earl of Kildrummond, must find an heir that doesn’t carry his name.
A landless knight, Lachlan Ramsay expects no more of life than battles, blood, and the occasional warm bosom. But when Lord John makes him his heir, Lachlan has a chance at something he never dreamt of—a home. There’s just one condition: He must marry the earl’s bastard daughter, the fiery, eccentric Moira MacInnes.
Lachlan has no desire for a headstrong, sharp-tongued wife. Moira has no need for an arrogant, too-handsome husband. To save Kildrummond they will marry and seek an annulment immediately upon the earl’s death. But deception is never simple, and passion once inflamed is impossible to ignore. Soon they will no longer be deceiving the earl but themselves.

    Author Bio
Bestselling historical author Heather Boyd believes every
character she creates deserves their own happily-ever-after, no matter how much
trouble she puts them through. With that goal in mind, she writes sizzling
regency romance stories that skirt the boundaries of propriety to keep readers
enthralled until the wee hours of the morning. Heather has published over twenty

    What’s your favorite
    down-home family style meal?
Do you mean as comfort food? That would be Spaghetti
Bolognaise every time. We’re not Italian but it hits the spot.
    What is your go-to
    meal when you dine out?
Always something I can’t or won’t create myself. I love
Chicken Hokien Noodles but have never attempted to make them at home. It’s
safer for all concerned that I don’t have too many spices. :D
    Describe the perfect
    vacation.
    Tomorrow? Please.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
My pushbike. I grew up on a farm and hated having to walk
down the paddocks to call dad up for afternoon tea. So I rode down to the sheep
tracks, yelled out to him, and then rode back up the hill.
    What kinds of things
do you read when you’re researching a new book?
Any publication printed in England from around 1810 to 1820.
The last book I read was The Complete Dog Fanciers Companion of 1819. Riveting
    stuff!

    Genre Historical Romance
    Author Heather Boyd
Book heat level (based on movie ratings):Mature Audience
Over the years, Melanie Merton has used every trick and ruse
to repel overeager gentlemen callers without ever revealing the real reason she
won’t say yes to an offer of marriage. When neighbor Walter George jumps to her
defense against slurs cast by suitor number twelve, he also pries into her past—uncovering
the circumstances around a tragic loss in her childhood and her aversion to
being touched by anyone. But even protective Walter must be kept at a distance
for his own good, because despite a growing attraction between them, Melanie
    must deny him too.
Unlike other men his age in Brighton, Walter George hadn’t
considered Melanie Merton for a wife because he was convinced he’d never have a
chance to impress his haughty neighbor. But that was before he understood her
better, before he uncovered why she kept friends and suitors alike at bay. The
right husband could restore the woman he sees into some semblance of the
fun-loving child of his memory, but would Walter stand a chance or become just
    another unlucky suitor?

  • 5 Easy Questions,  Historical

Andrea R. Cooper author of Viking Fire @andreaRcooper #RLFblog #historical romance

Andrea R. Cooper author of Viking Fire answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it
wasn’t until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.
What happened that ignited the writing flame in her
fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They
exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world.
Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like
the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids.
She believes in the power of change and counting each
moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
Tex-Mex. I love the cheese, spiciness, and variety of
Tex-Mex food. Nowhere else has food like ours in Texas. (ex. I won’t mention
the state, but when queso was ordered, it was a can of cheese soup   :P)
    Describe the perfect vacation.
Is there such a thing for a family? LOL. For me, a perfect
vacation would be one where the kids have a great time, don’t whine, sleep in,
and my husband and I can relax. We’re saving up for a Disney cruise – so maybe
    in about five years J
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
Barbies. Not so much for the wardrobe, house, or cars
(though they were cool), but I created stories and characters with them. I had
soap operas and family sagas galore.
    What are your hobbies?
Besides writing, I love Zumba, dancing, reading, and
catching up on my favorite shows: Game of Thrones, Reign, Vikings, Vampire
Diaries, The Originals, I Zombi, Lost Girl, etc.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
The same genres I write: fantasy, paranormal, historical
romance, romantic suspense. I’m also a member of several book clubs, and they
make me read novels I would never choose for myself, but expand my horizons and
    lead to great discussions.

Bram, the Viking, finds himself without future or inheritance as a younger son in his family. With the blame for a rival Laird’s death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels.
