Christmas at Solace Lake by Jana Richards @JanaRichards_ #RLFblog #Contemporary #SmallTownRomance
In Christmas at Solace Lake, Jana Richards’ new contemporary small-town romance, a series of thefts threatens everyone’s holiday spirit.
Jana, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.
Christmas at Solace Lake by Jana Richards
Genre – contemporary small-town romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG to RAn emergency brings Drew Barnes to Solace Lake Lodge, an inn deep in the Minnesota woods owned by his aunt and uncle. He’s sure desperation is the only reason they’d allow him to fill in as their bookkeeper. No one in his family has believed in him since his mistake got him fired from his previous job. Soon after he arrives, Drew is disheartened to discover thefts and financial irregularities. The last thing he wants is to be put in the middle of another crime.
Sous chef Celeste Bishop has made a good life for herself and her nine-year-old daughter in the three years she’s worked, and lived, at Solace Lake Lodge. After being unfairly fired, this was the only job she could get, and she’s grateful her gamble on the lodge paid off. The only sticking point is the isolation since she never learned to drive. How can she show her daughter independence when she’s always relying on others?
Drew sees Celeste’s frustration and offers to teach her to drive. A powerful attraction ignites between them, and soon deeper, stronger emotions blossom. Drew is all in, but Celeste resists her feelings. She’s nine years older than Drew. An interracial relationship didn’t work for her parents. And loving Drew feels like a betrayal of her deceased husband.
As Christmas approaches, the thefts escalate. Can Drew stop the thief and redeem himself in his family’s eyes—and his own? And can he convince Celeste they deserve the gift of a happily ever after this Christmas?
Describe the perfect vacation.
In my opinion, vacations should be relaxing. My perfect vacation would see me lounging on a shady deck with a cold drink in one hand and a book in the other. Bonus points if the deck overlooks a body of water. Sure, sometimes I’ll go sightseeing or maybe play golf, but only when I want to.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I had a Tammy doll that was sort of a Barbie wanna-be. She had blonde hair and blue eyes, but that’s where the similarity with Barbie ended. She was somewhat bigger/taller with flat feet so none of Barbie’s clothes or shoes fit her. She was also less curvy than Barbie. Obviously, Tammy didn’t catch on because while Barbie is still going strong, Tammy is nowhere to be found. But back in the sixties, I adored her!
What are your hobbies?
I play a little golf in the summer and dabble in gardening, at least enough to make the front of my house look nice. I really enjoy live theatre and hope to see a play or two this coming winter season. This past summer I started volunteering at my local zoo as a “zoo ambassador.” Our job is to make our visitors’ experience at the zoo as enjoyable as possible, and so far it’s been a lot of fun.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I mostly read romance. I enjoy contemporary romance, small town, historical, and romantic suspense. I also enjoy mysteries, especially cozy mysteries. Some day I hope to write a mystery series of my own!
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
It very much depends on the book. For instance, Strong Enough, book 4 in my Masonville series, deals with sexual assault and child sexual abuse, so I read a couple of biographies written by survivors, as well as information online. For my World War Two books, I’ve read several books on different aspects of the war, including war brides and the training of air crews in Canada. For my upcoming release, Christmas At Solace Lake, (releasing October 18, 2023) one thing I researched online was ways employees could steal from their employer. I also read a lot of recipes, especially Christmas recipes, since my heroine Celeste is a sous chef and a baker.

Lisabet Sarai became addicted to words at an early age. She began reading when she was four. She wrote her first story at five years old and her first poem at seven. Since then, she has written plays, tutorials, scholarly articles, marketing brochures, software specifications, self-help books, press releases, a five-hundred page dissertation, and lots of erotica and erotic romance – over one hundred titles, and counting, in nearly every sub-genre—paranormal, scifi, ménage, BDSM, LGBTQ, and more. Regardless of the genre, every one of her stories illustrates her motto: Imagination is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Writer, photographer, social critical artist, musician, and occasional actress, J Arlene Culiner, was born in New York and raised in Toronto. She has crossed much of Europe on foot, has lived in a Hungarian mud house, a Bavarian castle, a Turkish cave-dwelling, on a Dutch canal, and in a haunted house on the English moors. She now resides in a 400-year-old former inn in a French village of no interest and, much to local dismay, protects all creatures, especially spiders and snakes. She particularly enjoys incorporating into short stories, mysteries, narrative non-fiction, and romances, her experiences in out-of-the-way communities, and her conversations with strange characters.

Thank you and ‘Auf Wiedersehn’ to Kayelle’s RFL Blog from Iris Blobel @_iris_b #Books #RLFblog
I know today’s post is supposed to be a last chance to promote one of my books for the last time here on the RFL Blog before the blog retires next year.
But I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks. Thanks to Kayelle, who deserves more than a thanks. My gratitude for all she’s done over the many years, and not just for the RFL blog, but for everything else she’s created, oversees, and keeps running. The many (many!) ways that she tries to help authors find their way in the business of publishing. And she doesn’t do it by just creating opportunities, no, she guides everyone along. She’s always reaching out to help and finding solutions. I had a quick look through the blog and counted six posts promoting my books. That’s amazing. And she did it without asking for anything in return.
Her support went beyond helping authors. October was always the #Canceraware month on the RFL Blog, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciated the opportunity to talk about the illness and its struggles.
Kayelle, my sincerest thanks for everything you have done over the many years. I hope one day all your good deeds will come back multiplied in good luck. ♥
And while I am here, I might as well ‘show off’ one of my books. 😊
Fresh Beginnings is currently 99c (on Amazon only).
Why did I write this book?
I love this book. We went to the USA a few years ago, travelling in a motorhome through 5 different states and having the time of our lives. After returning home and looking through hundreds of photos, I came up with the idea to turn our itinerary into a story. Fresh Beginnings was born. I hope the readers will enjoy this little journey, and hopefully my love for the places that we went shines through.Iris Blobel Social Media

Iris Blobel writes warm, sexy, and sometimes witty Australian Contemporary Romance books for readers who, like herself, still strongly believe in love and Happily Ever Afters. And she knows HEAs. Her couples are hungry for life, done with the past, passionate about family, and emotionally hopeful for a future. The stories are mainly set in Australia but also in New Zealand and even the US, depending on where her travels take her. She loves nothing more than for her readers to join her on her journeys.

Read a Regency Romance: The Divided Heart by Peggy Lovelace Ellis #Regency #Books
The sprite wants the spy. Will she get him? Marie faces this situation in Peggy Lovelace Ellis’s new Regency novel.
Peggy, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Divided Heart.
In 1774, three ten-year-old girls living in Somerset, England, made a decision which had a far-reaching effect on their lives. They declared that, when they grew up, they would each have a daughter and give her all three of their names but in different orders. They would be best friends just as their mothers were. Rebecca Marie Louise Black and Louise Rebecca Marie Tracy meet in an orphanage in Hampshire, England, in the year 1800. Because of the similarity of names, they vow to be best friends forever, as only six-year-olds can. This friendship continues until, in 1812 at the age of 18, they leave the orphanage to pursue life in London with a chaperone. Both Rebecca and Louise believe there is a third girl who shares their names. This is the basis of my Heart Series, written over a five-year period, and being published in 2023.
The Divided Heart by Peggy Lovelace Ellis
Genre: Traditional Regency
Book heat level: GMarie Louise Rebecca Haverford is the pampered only child of Sir Julian and Lady Becca, with whom she has a loving, fun-filled relationship. Although she presents the expected frivolous demeanor to society, she is, in fact, quite intelligent as her father learns when she interferes with his work at Whitehall.
Soon after their arrival in London for her second Season, Marie meets John, Viscount Beaufort, a Whitehall associate of Sir Julian. Lady Becca warns her that Beaufort is immune to young misses, but Marie vows to change all that.
Marie’s shifts between maturity and immaturity confuse Beaufort, yet he admires her grasp on life. He resists Marie’s blandishments, partially because he distrusts frivolous females, but also because theft of funds meant for the military in Spain occupies his attention.
Marie is accustomed to getting what she wants, so why does Beaufort not succumb to her blandishments? After all, she is beautiful and wealthy. She never offends by exhibiting any intelligence. As expected by society, she flirts deliciously, pouts adorably, and dazzles every male within view. Every male, that is, except the one she desires. Must she place her life in danger to win Beaufort’s attention? She will do even that to win her heart’s desire.
