Bucket list of Six from Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire by Kayelle Allen #RLFblog #SciFi #SpaceOpera

Let’s meet Six from Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire, a science fiction with romantic elements by Kayelle Allen.

Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire by Kayelle Allen

Genre science fiction with romantic elements
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
When the immortal Pietas is marooned on a barren world with no food and few survival tools, he knows it could be worse. He could be alone. But that’s the problem. He’s not.
Half a million of his people sleep in cryostasis, trapped inside their pods and it’s up to Pietas to free them. He can’t release one at a time. It’s all or nothing. He’s facing over five hundred thousand hungry, thirsty, homeless immortals who will call on him for rescue and he has no way to answer.
It’s not all bad. The beautiful telepathic warrior he’s loved for lifetimes is at his side. He’s bonded with a sentient panther. He hates humans but the one dumped on this planet with him has become a trusted friend.
Before Pietas can build shelter, figure out how to grow food, or set up a government, he must take back command from a ruthless enemy he’s fought for centuries. His brutal, merciless father.
Immortals may heal, but a wound of the heart lasts forever…

    Bucket List

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Age: 38
    Gender: male
    Birthplace: Earth
    Profession: soldier
    Ethnicity: Hispanic
Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Quasi-human (Ghost Corps)
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m about six feet tall, brown eyes, brown hair, brown skin. I tend to fade into the background and not be noticed. I’m not so ugly I can’t get a date on payday, but I’m average enough not to stand out.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I was a soldier, a grunt who pushed his way up. Got noticed and inducted into special ops. I speak multiple languages and I’m good with knives and a bow and arrow. I have a good aim with most any weapon.
Who is the significant other in your life?
I don’t have anyone right now. Mainly because I’m the only human (or almost human) on my planet. The Ultras around me don’t like humans that much. Besides, I’ll die, eventually. None of them will.
If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.
    What is your birth order?
One and only. When God made me, he threw away the mold. He knew trouble when he saw it.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I played ball with the neighbor kids. Not really a toy-kinda person. But I did own a soccer ball and I took good care of it.
Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.
Apple fritters. Fresh chopped apples dipped in brown sugar and mixed into batter, then fried. Served hot. Great with coffee.
Tell us about your best friend.
I call him Pi (as in 3.14), but his name is Pietas. It’s pronounced pee-ah-toss, as he’s fond of reminding me. I eventually discovered why he hated the nickname and told him I’d stop, but he insisted I keep it. Seems his father called him that when he made mistakes. The nicest thing I can say about his pop is that the guy is a bully. Tried to kill me the moment he laid eyes on me. Anyway, Pi says when his dad hears me call him that it shows the man he has no hold over him. Pi is closer to me than a brother. When I was his worst enemy and hated him, he taught me the meaning of honor. If you wanted a picture for the word “noble” in the dictionary, you could use him.
What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I’d like to go fishing in a lake up in the mountains where the air is clean and cold and the fish like to bite. And then I’d go to the oceanside and lay on a hot sandy beach drinking a nice cold beer.
Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?
Enderium Six. What a nightmare that was. Although that is where I met Pi.
Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?
A fast woman who likes slow guys.
Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?
Pietas’s father. The man makes me crazy. The urge to strangle him is too strong for me to resist for long, so I avoid him.
If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I’d go back to Enderium Six and change everything that happened, except the part where I ended up friends with Pi. Although, come to think of it, the nightmare part was what made us friends in the first place. So… I think I’ll stick to my own time, thank you.

    About Kayelle Allen

Kayelle Allen did a tour in the US Navy, where she climbed around airplanes (on the ground, thankfully) fixing black boxes that helped pilots find their way home.
She wrote her first science fiction novel at 18 and to this day, it’s hidden under the bed, where she vows it will remain. Gems from it, however, launched several series in her galaxy-wide universe of stories.
From childhood, Kayelle was the victim of an overactive imagination and inherited the Irish gift of gab from her mother. From her father, she got a healthy respect for mechanical things.
No wonder she writes Science Fiction and Fantasy peopled with misbehaving robots, mythic heroes, role playing immortal gamers, and warriors who purr. She’s been married so long she’s tenured.
What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Letting the story unfold and be as surprised as they were with how it turned out. The end had a real twist that even I didn’t see coming.
Why did you choose this character for the interview today?
Six is a blast to write. He’s one of my favorite characters.
When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
That he was jealous of the time Pietas spent with others. He’d been the only person in Pietas’s life for months during their journey. Once they found the people they were searching for, he was so busy he had little time for Six. But he handled it with surprising grace and humor.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Yes, I’m writing one now, called Watch Your Six, in which Six is the major character.
What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Time travel. Just don’t have a good paradox in mind yet. Maybe someday.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
That I almost never cook at home. I prefer to either eat out or go with prepared meals. To my kids, Mom’s home-cooked mac and cheese came in a yellow and blue box.
Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
This one is the culmination of years of writing. It’s my best so far, and it’s both funny and heartbreaking. If you like buddy movies, you’ll like the Bringer of Chaos series altogether.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
Please keep in touch. I’d love to know what you think of my characters and books.

    Introducing Pietas

    Please tell me about yourself.

I’m what’s commonly called an Ultra. My race is genetically enhanced, created to serve mankind. To ensure we could fight their enemies, they made us “ultra” strong, invincible, unkillable. Without meaning to, they made us immortal. They also created us with the inability to gain our own freedom. My father accidentally discovered how to break those genetic shackles. Once we were free, mankind no longer told us what to do. We told mankind. It’s the only thing about my father that I can honestly say I’m proud of. I imagine I’ve told you far more about “me” than you wanted to hear. I’ll stop now.

Age: at the time of this story, 1,916

    Gender: male

Birthplace: Earth, in a small country called Wales

    Profession: king

Ethnicity: I’m what you’d consider white. My people come in many colors, but we are all Ultras.

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Ultra

    What do you look like?

Physically, I’m 7 Terran feet tall, platinum blond hair, teal blue eyes (an illusion – they are actually quite startlingly blue with green flecks). I’m built more like a swimmer or dancer than a warrior, although I have all the strength of one.

Who is the significant other in your life?

    Currently, her name is Joss.

Please tell us about your education.

I have an eidetic memory. I forget literally nothing, although I like to tease my sister by pretending to forget things she tells me. I’m a scientist as well as warrior. Not unusual among my people. I am a geneticist and credited with the creation of many races of non-humans.

    Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?

I imagine all those would describe me. When one is immortal, one tends to pick things up.

On what special skills do you rely?

In addition to physical strength, I have multiple Ultra gifts, chief among them the ability to cast confusion, disarray, and fear. It’s called Chaos. I’m a master. So much so, my people refer to me as the Bringer of Chaos.

    What is your family like?

How long do you have? I’ll shorten this. My father is a monster who deserves the worst possible perma-death. My mother– *pauses* I’m sorry. I can’t speak of her without emotion. She deserves far better than my father. I have a twin sister who is the bane of my existence. We look and act nothing alike.

What inner doubt causes you the most difficulty?

I put others ahead of myself. It’s what a king should do. I worry that I take too much for myself and look selfish. I strive to avoid that.

What is your biggest personal flaw?

Hubris. I tend to think I have situations completely in hand. Often, it turns out I was overthinking my ability and reach. That can be a fatal flaw in a king.

When there is a setback, what doubt or flaw surfaces?

I internalize and think failure is my fault. I guard against self doubt, because that, too, can be fatal flaw in a king. Which then leads to hubris. It’s a frustrating cycle I continually guard against. I hope I’m moderately successful.

    What is your breaking point?

If I ever reach it, I’ll let you know.

When (if) you lie or are upset, what gives you away?

I told one lie in my life. I was a child and had omitted a duty because I did things out of order. I hadn’t intended to skip doing it. When my father questioned me, I knew what would happen to me if I hadn’t done it. I feared being punished. He was never gentle with me. I lied. He didn’t catch me, but the feeling of dread that he would discover my untruth kept my heart, mind, and stomach in turmoil. I swore I’d never lie again. Punishment would have been over and done with if I’d told the truth. I decided no consequences would ever frighten me into lying again, and they have not.

Who in your life has the power to hurt you the most and why?

At this point, I’d say it’s my friend, Six. He’s human. Or he was. He was turned into an Ultra by artificial means, giving him the strength (at least temporarily) to kill one of us. His type of soldier is called a ghost, because he had to die before he was transformed. Despite the fact that he was my sworn enemy, there is no one closer to me. If he were to betray me… I cannot speak further about that. It would be the worst thing to happen. For me.

What would you like to tell your writer?

I’m glad I decided to trust you and tell you my story. Now get busy and write the rest.

What would you like people who hear your story to know?

I am real. Kayelle Allen writes about me and publishes it as fiction. I’m not in your dimension, but I am real. Never doubt that for a moment.

  • Quick and Fun,  Science Fiction Romance

#NewRelease Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire by Kayelle Allen #RLFblog #SciFi

I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of Romance Lives Forever and today, it’s my turn to be in the hot seat. I’m ending a 20-day book tour with Crystal Reviews and it’s been a blast! At the end of this post, there will be a chance to help share my Thunderclap to announce the release of the book. Let’s jump in for a Quick and Fun answer session.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?
Most of my books are science fiction, but I also write science fiction romance and contemporary romance. I have one non-fiction book, about how to write a series.
How do you come up with ideas?
I can’t keep from coming up with ideas. They float through the air and stick to me. I’ve learned to look at everything with the eye of a storyteller.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?
I love world building. Creating a new place or culture and then fine tuning it is what makes me get up in the morning. Second most important is when I get a story across and readers react. That’s the reason I keep going!
When did you write your first book?
I was about 18. The original manuscript will never see the light of day, but it has launched an entire universe of stories.

    FUN

Leather or lace? I’m more spandex. LOL
    Black or red? Red.
Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton!
Ocean or mountains? Mountains with an ocean view
City life or country life? Country, close to the city
Party life or evening at home? Evening at home
    Dogs or cats? Both!

Tell us about Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire

What if you were a soldier marooned on an undeveloped planet?
What if you had no food and few survival tools? What if you’d been genetically engineered? No matter how agonizing the wound, you’d survive. No matter how you died, you’d come back.
It could be worse. You could be here alone. But that’s the problem. You’re not.
On one hand, there’s a tribe of sentient panthers who protect you. Although you hate humans, the one who was dumped on this planet with you has become a trusted friend. The beautiful telepathic warrior you’ve loved since forever is at your side.
On the other hand, half a million people who depend on you are trapped inside stasis pods, waiting for you to save them. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could wake up a few at a time. But the traitors who abandoned you and your followers set the timers to release all half million.
    At the same time.
You’re facing an ecological disaster and over five hundred thousand hungry, thirsty, homeless immortals.
Worse still, before you can build shelter, figure out how to grow food, or set up a government, you must take back command from a ruthless enemy you’ve fought for centuries.
    Your brutal, merciless father.
Talk about being forged in fire…
Immortals may heal, but a wound of the heart lasts forever.

Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire has no profanity or explicit content, but lots of angst, a little humor, some sweet romance, and a ton of betrayal with plenty of vengeance. Oh, and let’s not forget–one ginormous black “kitty.”
