Christmas Romance Novella- the first of a series set in the small town of Green Leaf. Sometimes in order to move forward, you must first confront the past, as Aurora is about to discover. Separated from her famous husband and about to have his baby, she returns home to Green Leaf. Immediately clashing with her Mum, Catherine (owner of The Leaves of Change Cafe), Aurora begins to wonder if she’s made a mistake. However, her financial situation means she has no choice but to stay.

She tries to make the best of it, reconnecting with old friends and her teenage boyfriend Michael, who is now running the bookshop, Green Sleeves, next door to the Cafe! As they get to know one another again, they realise that they have feelings for each other. However, with Aurora about to have a baby to her husband and Michael still reeling from a past hurt, is there any hope that the pair will have a second chance at love? Why not grab a cuppa and a mince pie and spend Christmas at The Leaves of Change Cafe? A sweet, cosy read full of festive treats…

Tell us about yourself as a person.

What makes you different from other people?

I can be quite eccentric. I spend a lot of time in my head thinking about my character’s lives more than my own.

What is your personality type?

I’m actually quite shy until I get to know you. I like being sociable but I also like time on my own. Perfect for writing!

What was your favorite childhood game?

Anything make believe – playing shops probably. I had a pretend post office and supermarket set when I was little and loved pretending to serve my family.

What is your favorite subject to talk about?

Books! I spend a lot of time talking about books because I’ve got so many on the go.

What is your favorite book?

If I had to pin it down to just one and that is so hard, I’d say Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It’s a classic but still my favourite.

What is your favorite meal?

Spaghetti Bolognese or anything with pasta in!

Tell us about yourself as a writer.

What made you want to be a writer?

I’ve always loved telling stories, as a child I used to make little books about the places I’d visited. As I grew older, I put my imagination to one side, thinking I’d had to find a ‘real job.’ Life has a way of surprising you.

What are your favorite books for writing advice?

Save the Cat by Jessica Brody, Romancing the Beat by Gwen Hayes.

What are your favorite reference books?

I prefer to read 1st hand accounts. During the first lockdown here in the UK, I read a lot of biographies of nurses in the first world war.

When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?

Pens, notebooks, water, a lovely bright scarf to wear. I have lots of scarfs- too many but they always cheer me up when I wear one.

What’s your best advice for a new writer?

Just start writing and don’t go back and judge your work until you’ve finished a 1st draft.

What are your writing goals for the next year or so?

Start a new book. I’m leaving behind The Leaves of Change Cafe Series and starting a new romance book.

I live in the northeast of England with my family and our beloved cat Louie, a one-time stray now king of the castle. When I’m not at home trying to work with the cat on my knee, I love meeting friends for a coffee and having a good old natter, or visiting somewhere new, like an historic house or museum.
