Introducing Erica Timberly from Lyrical Embrace, by Amber Daulton @amberdaulton1 #RLFblog #RomanticSuspenseLet’s meet Erica Timberly from Lyrical Embrace, a Romantic Suspense, by Amber Daulton. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about the story your author wrote.

    Lyrical Embrace by Amber Daulton

    Genre Romantic Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Out-of-work violinist Erica Timberly decides enough is enough. She leaves her abusive boyfriend and flees the big city, but then her car breaks down in the middle of the night. Though wary of men, she accepts help from Dylan Haynes, a stranger driving by on the road, and soon recognizes him as the sexy former drummer of her favorite indie rock band. Maybe, just maybe, her run of bad luck is finally turning around.
Music teacher Dylan Haynes knows Erica is in trouble, and her black eye is only the first clue. The stubborn yet vulnerable woman needs a friend, but he’s determined to give her everything she deserves.
Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?

    Introducing Erica Timberly

    Please tell me about yourself.

    Age: 23
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: New Jersey
    Profession: Violinist
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
    What do you look like?
I have long blonde hair and green eyes. I’m five-feet-eight and a little chunky. My hips are too round for my liking, and though I’m self-conscious about it, I’m happy with my body for the most part.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Dylan Haynes. He was my rock star dream guy for years. After we finally met and started dating, I realized he was so much more beneath the arrogant swagger and very different from my fantasy.
Please tell us about your education.
I have an associate’s degree in Classical Music from a community college in New York City. I wanted to continue my education, but life got in the way. Maybe I’ll return to school in the future.
Are any of your skills a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
I play the violin, cello, and other strings. My mother taught me to play the violin when I was younger, but then I received lessons as a teenager. I’m very proud of my musical accomplishments.
    Are you close to family?
My dad and I butted heads a lot when I was teen. He and my mom divorced when I was younger, and then Mom died a few years later. After that, I had to live with Dad and his new wife Mindy, the woman he cheated on my mom with. They have two sons together, but the boys are over ten years younger than me, so we were never close. Even though I still resent my dad for breaking up my parents’ marriage, I’ve opened the doors for reconciliation, mostly at Dylan’s urging.
What past event causes you the most fear?
It’s hard to talk about, but I spent a year in a physically abusive relationship with my ex-boyfriend, Phil. At first, he was sweet and charming. We dated for about a year, and though he kept secrets, I was too foolish and shy to confront him about it. Then I moved in with him, and everything changed. He wanted me to wear my hair differently, wear different clothes, and to quit my job. When I refused, he would hit me and call me names. That was the worse year of my life, and I knew it would only get worse as time went on. I had to break away. To do so, I left everything behind, jumped in my car, and hit the road. I wound up in Vermont and made a fresh start, but I was always worried Phil would find me, and he eventually did. Luckily, Dylan and I survived that ordeal.
What would you like people who hear your story to know?
I’m just a normal, average woman—nothing special about me in that regard—but there are countless women just like me in the world. They’re involved in toxic relationships with people claiming to love them, and they often feel trapped or believe they don’t deserve anything better in their lives. I hope readers who have experienced any type of abuse either in the past or right now will find some hope and encouragement from my story. Everyone deserves a happy ending and a chance to heal, whether that means breaking free from a dangerous cycle of wrong choices, reuniting with loved ones, or moving on from past hurts. You may have a bumpy road ahead, but all you can do is try.

Know the Hero from Lyrical Embrace by Amber Daulton @amberdaulton1 #RLFblog #RomanticSuspenseAmber Daulton, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us about the book.

Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?

Know the Hero from Lyrical Embrace

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.
It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?
Dylan is a professional drummer and finds playing instruments relaxing. He would rock out on his drum set or play some music at a deafening level.
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
Tortilla chips. Something salty and crunchy.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
His closet and dresser are full of T-shirts and jeans. He likes the simple things.
Does he know how to fix things?
That depends on what’s broken. If an instrument needs work, he could tune that right up. He’s a volunteer fireman and a certified EMT, so he’s knows first aid and is used to responding to emergences and helping people. He’s no good with cars, though. When Erica’s car clunked out and died on the road, he couldn’t do anything about it. Instead, he served as an excellent chauffeur.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Dylan tries to do his best at everything, so if something goes wrong, he’ll try his damnedest to take care of the problem. He’s a pretty laidback kind of guy, however, so he won’t freak out over the problem.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
Even though Dylan has a rock star past, he’s now a respectable teacher. A music teacher, that is! He’s around kids all the time, sharing his love of music. His students range from ages eight and up, and he’s comfortable around them from the get-go.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
Too chipper. He’s one of those dreaded morning people.
    Can he use chopsticks?
He’s patient, but not patient enough to learn how to use those.
Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?
    Coffee, black.
What apps would he have on his phone?
    The weather app, definitely.
    Android or iPhone?
    Smartphone
    Beard or clean-shaven?
Clean-shaven mostly, but sometimes a little scruffy.
    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
He has a red dragon tattoo on his arm. It wraps around his biceps, and Erica loves kissing and licking it.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
He has a silver sedan, which he makes payments on.
    Recycle or toss?
Recycle. His family is big on taking care of the environment, so he always separates his trash.
Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!

Meet Dylan from Lyrical Embrace, Suspense by Amber Daulton @AmberDaulton1 #RLFblog #RomanticSuspense Welcome Dylan Haynes from Lyrical Embrace, a new Romantic Suspense by Amber Daulton.

    Meet Dylan Haynes

    Age: 25
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Willow Springs, Vermont
Profession: Music Teacher; Ex-Drummer for a rock band
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
Dylan, please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m about six feet tall with short, spiky brown hair and blue eyes. I keep in good shape because I’m a volunteer firefighter, and I gotta be quick when disaster strikes. I have a red dragon tattoo on my left arm, and it twists around my biceps.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I like to think of myself as a normal guy, and I hope I portray that to the people I first meet. I used to play for an indie rock band, Fortune’s Glory, but most people don’t recognize me since the band never made it big. I’m grateful for that. I’ve moved back home to Willow Springs, so I usually don’t meet clubbers and fans anymore.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Erica Timberly is the perfect woman for me. She’s strong, beautiful, and stubborn, but vulnerable too. She’s an excellent violinist and loves music just as much as I do. After all the crap she’s been through, she’s still trusting and kind. She loves with her whole heart, and I’m damn glad she picked me.

    Insight from the Author

How educated is this character? Is he book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Dylan grew up around music because his parents owned and operated a music academy, so he spent a lot of time learning to play the drums and other instruments. Music is his life, and even he dropped out of college freshman year to join Fortune’s Glory when he was eighteen years old.
Are any of his skills a source of pride? Embarrassment? Which ones and why?
He’s an excellent drummer and is proud of that, but he loves to teach as much as he loves performing. When his students succeed, he feels as though he’s accomplished something great and takes pride in their achievements.
What is your character’s family like?
Dylan’s parents and siblings are supportive and understanding. He’s the baby in the family, but they treat him like an adult, most of the time. His mom has a knack for embarrassing him, but he knows she only does so because she loves him.
Is your character involved in his community?
Yes, very much so. After years of partying and having fun, he wanted to do something good and give back to the community where he’d come from, so he volunteers as a fireman. As such, he’s also a certified EMT.
What is your hero’s biggest hopes and dreams?
He always wanted to be a famous musician, but his dreams changed when he was on tour and playing clubs with Fortune’s Glory. He didn’t like the person he was turning into. The drugs, alcohol, and groupies distracted him from the music, so he was just going through the motions and no longer enjoying himself. After quitting the band, he found a new dream and succeeded in reaching it. He has a real, down-to-earth life, which includes a good job and a loving woman. Life couldn’t be better for him.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer at least four of these questions. Questions with more than one point should be considered one question. You may answer as many more as you like.
What do you wish your writer, Amber, had not told others about you?
Back when I was still drumming for Fortune’s Glory, Erica attended the concerts at the clubs and crushed hard on me, but I didn’t even know she existed. I just never saw her in the crowd of screaming, dancing fans. I was nothing but an arrogant, sexist hound dog back then, and Erica knew it. After I stopped drinking and left the band, I headed back home to get my life together. Then Erica and I finally met. I’m embarrassed of the way I acted before, but I’ve since proved to Erica I’m a changed man.
When your writer is writing about you, what do you think makes your writer the most sad? What makes your writer the most happy?
I think Amber was a little sad when writing about my bandmate who overdosed on heroin. That time in my life was difficult for me, so I’m relieved she didn’t go in great detail about it. More than anything, she was getting all weepy when writing about Erica’s past. You see, Erica was in an abusive relationship before we met, so Amber had no choice but to mention it.
At the end of the story, Amber really enjoyed writing the scene where Erica fought back against her ex and finally broke free from him for good. Amber prefers strong female leads, and that’s definitely Erica.
Why do you think your writer loves to write?
She likes making people smile and giving them happy endings. I’m a prime example of that. I was getting my life back on track after quitting the band, but then Amber introduced me to Erica. Wow! That one moment changed everything for me, and I wouldn’t give it up for all the money or fame in the world.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Lyrical Embrace is book four in the Deerbourne Inn series–a multi-author collaboration of novellas–and each author is only allowed to write one book in the series. Hopefully, that will change because my older brother, Birley, desperately needs a woman in his life. His ex-wife split town years ago, and he’s raising his son and daughter alone. The kids are great–don’t get me wrong–but he needs another reason to get out of bed in the morning. All he does is work at the music academy and take care of the kids. He rarely dates. Damn, the man doesn’t even bed hop. So I hope Amber will brighten up Birley’s future sooner rather than later. If not, I’m gonna have a long talk with her.

What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Every Saturday, we have bean burritos for dinner. We cook refried beans, black beans, diced carrots, onions, radishes, jalapenos, corn, and spices in the crock-pot for a few hours, spoon heaping amounts on large tortilla shells with cheese and sour cream, and cook in the oven for thirty minutes. It’s sooo delicious.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
Greg and I are mostly vegetarian, so it’s hard for us to eat out since most restaurants have a limited and pricey veggie menu. When we do, we usually go to Taco Bell for something quick or grab a cheese pizza from Little Caesars and eat at home.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
My favorite toy was Baby Shivers. I don’t think you can find it nowadays, but it was really popular back in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. Anyway, a battery fit inside the baby doll’s head, so the doll would tremble and shake until I wrapped it up in a blanket and rocked it back and forth. I don’t remember how old I was when I got it, but my mom had to fight the Christmas rush at a department store to find it, and it was the last one on the shelf. I named the doll Heather Nicole, and I still have it packed up in a box somewhere.
    What are your hobbies?
My hubby and I love binge-watching TV shows—our favorite is Supernatural—and we often borrow movies from our local library. I like to read, dig in my flowerbeds, and create scrapbooks. I also spend a lot of time with my four demanding cats.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I usually only read romance, sometimes mysteries on the rare occasion. My favorite sub-genres are romantic-suspense, historical, and paranormal, so those books are the ones I gravitate towards first.

Writing is the fruit of happiness.
Amber Daulton lives her life by that one belief even though she normally isn’t so Zen.
As a fan of contemporary, paranormal, and historical romance novels alike, she can’t get enough of feisty heroines and alpha heroes. Her mind is a wonderland of adventure, laughter, and awesome ways of kicking a guy when he’s down. She probably wouldn’t be too sane without her computer and notebooks. After all, what’s a girl to do when people are jabbering away in her head and it’s hard to shut them up? Write! Nothing else works.

Why did you write this book?

Last year, The Wild Rose Press sent out a submission call for in-house authors to write for the Deerbourne Inn, a new multi-author series spanning several sub-genres of romance. I’d already published one novel with them and was pleased with both my editor’s and the publisher’s professionalism, so I was happy to write up a novella to submit to the call.

What is your favorite genre to read?

That’s a tie between romantic suspense and paranormal romance.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I really like the book and the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy is totally yummy, and I don’t think there’s anyone who could play the part better than Colin Firth.

What are you working on at the moment?

Arresting Mason, book one in the Arresting Onyx series, came out last year, and I hope the second installment in the series will come out sometime in late 2019. Arresting Jeremiah follows hardnosed parole officer Jim Borden and his obsession Calista Barlow as they stick their noses where they don’t belong and fall deep into the trouble with the criminal organization known as Onyx.

This series is a set of five romantic suspense books with a standalone HEA for each rough-and-tumble hero and their spunky heroines.

What book will we see from you in coming months?

    Hopefully Arresting Jeremiah!
