Celisse from Fight Princess by @mskosciuszko #RLFblog #romanticsuspense

M.S. Kaye shares details about the creation of Celisse
Blalock in the book Fight Princess.

    About the Book

    Title Fight Princess
    Genre romantic suspense
    Author M.S. Kaye
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
    Things
aren’t what they seem. Don’t get involved.
    Celisse is too headstrong to
listen. Her best friend’s boyfriend is dead, and she does not heed Cullen’s
warning, slipped to her in a note as he’s being arrested for the murder.
Cullen tries to keep Celisse out of danger and also tries
to avoid her, both unsuccessfully. He can’t deny his feelings for her anymore,
but he knows he can’t have her. If she ever discovered the truth about his
    past, she’d surely hate him.
While struggling with her intense feelings for Cullen,
Celisse uses her skills as an ex-prosecutor to investigate, all while
continuing to fight for Ogden, the organizer of an underground fight ring. She
eventually realizes things are connected—the ring, Ogden, Cullen, the murder,
and herself. She races to uncover the truth before she’s arrested or becomes
the next victim—or perhaps, the next culprit.

    Introducing Celisse Blalock

    Name: Celisse Blalock
    Age: around 30
    Gender: female
    Birthplace: Chicago
Profession: former attorney, currently office assistant
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): white
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: light brown,
long hair with loose curls; strong, very fit build
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
No significant other at the beginning—read the book to find
    out if that changes.
    Tell us about this
    character, please.
Celisse was born into an affluent, high-society family. But
that wasn’t for her. She is a licensed attorney and worked in the District
Attorney’s office, but she had to give that up. Now, she works in an
administrative position for a bitchy, stupid boss. She has no man in her life
and has never been in a serious relationship, which has a lot to do with her
family, though she has no contact with them. She’s beautiful without trying,
    and extremely intelligent.
    If you could only
hear this character’s voice (but not see her) what characteristic would
    identify her?
    No nonsense
    How educated is this
    character?
    Licensed attorney
    Is the character
    book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
    Combination of book-smart and self-taught
    Does she scrape by,
    live comfortably, live extravagantly?
She makes little money but lives simply and well within her
    means.
    What is your
    character’s viewpoint on wealth?
    It’s overrated.
    Are any of her skills
a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
She’s an extremely strong fighter, but let’s few people know
    it.
    Does this character
see morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray?
She sees things black-and-white, sometimes to her detriment.
    How do others
perceive your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
People assume she’s delicate and ladylike. While she may be
ladylike at times, she’s not delicate. She doesn’t break; she does the
    breaking.
    Does your character
care about what others assume about her?
    Nope.

    About Your Writer

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
    She appreciates strong women.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
I would’ve preferred to keep my entire story to myself.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
Ogden’s story would be interesting, but that won’t happen.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
    She has control issues.

Deven Chandler from His Lost Mate by @kathykulig #RLFblog #PNR

    Kathy Kulig shares details
about the creation of Deven Chandler in the book His Lost Mate.

    About the Book

    Title: His Lost Mate
    Genre: Paranormal Romance
    Author: Kathy Kulig
Book heat level (Based on movie ratings): R
He lost her once hundreds of years ago. Now he must battle a new
entity. Will he lose her again forever?
    Archaeologist and
psychic Lauren Halpern embarks on a journey to uncover an ancient mystery in a
sultry and exotic jungle, but everything is getting in her way. Deven Chandler,
the drop-dead gorgeous leader of their excavation is a serious distraction she
does not need, and she’s desperately trying to guard her heart. But the heated
passion between them is undeniable, and they simply cannot find a way to stop
the inevitable. Lauren senses the supernatural connection between them holds a
secret deeper than the hot sex they’re trying to resist. And Deven, the
scientist that he is, simply won’t believe her esoteric beliefs or warnings.
    Once
they tumble into a sizzling affair the real trouble begins. From the ancient
ruins, a ghost of an ancient shaman appears. He lures them deeper to into the
jungle where lies the deadliest evil of all. When danger arrives, can Deven
learn to trust her and risk everything to save her?

    Introducing Deven Chandler

    Name: Deven Chandler
    Age: 32
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Netherlands
    Profession: Archaeologist/Professor
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Dutch
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Tan, toned,
muscular build, 6’, rough hands from years of field work excavating
    archaeological ruins.
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
Lauren Halpern, a graduate student from another college, is
doing field work on his excavation for credits towards her degree. There’s an
instant attraction the moment she arrives. The woman is hot, smart and sexy.
But he knows he should resist. As a professional, he shouldn’t allow it. There
are too many complications with the excavation—local authorities, potential
antiquity thieves, rumors of rebels in the jungle. The safety of the team and
his project is vital, his love life with a hot student is not priority. And now
there are a number of strange, unexplained events occurring around the ruins.
Not to mention his ex-fiancée has decided to join the team this time around,
and she has her own agenda besides adding to her collection at the museum.
    Tell us about this
    character, please.
Deven is rugged and sexy. A mix of outdoor adventurer and
smart professor, a bit like Indiana Jones. Although he was offered a
prestigious board position at a large museum, he turned it down to continue
traveling and working his projects in the jungle.
    How does your hero
    dress?
Archaeologist in the jungle, working on ancient ruins. Jeans or
khakis, no suits for this man. (unless he’s teaching at the university) He’s
    not afraid to get dirty.
    Does he scrape by,
    live comfortably, live extravagantly?
He makes a comfortable wage. He works
at a university in Boston, has a nice condo there and owns a cottage on Cape
Cod. He’s most happy when he’s traveling and digging in ruins.
    On what special skills
    does your character rely?
He’s highly skilled at his job, good at working
with students and negotiating with foreign authorities. He’s all scientist, but
rugged to the bone, devoted and determined to uncover the mystery surrounding
his current project. But his flaw is not seeing a supernatural element closing
    in on the ruins.
    What is your
    character’s family like?
He’s close to his family. His sister is also an
archaeologist, but more sensitive to the supernatural. She has experienced
ghosts at the ruins where she has worked. His parents live in the Netherlands.
They sold their home to provide college educations for their two children. Over
the years, Deven and his sister helped them purchase a home again.
    If someone from your
character’s past showed up, who would he most NOT want it to be, and why?

Sylvia, his ex-fiancée. Of course she decides to show up during this semester.
He can’t turn her away since her father privately funds most of these projects
for the college. He’s president of the board of the museum and part of the deal
is acquiring a collection of artifacts for his museum. Deven has a hunch Sylvia
has plans to acquire more than artifacts and that makes this trip more of a
complication than Deven wants to deal with. Especially since things are heating
    up between him and Lauren.
    What past event
causes your character the most fear?
In the jungle of a third-world
country, anything can happen. Danger can arise, natural and unnatural can
threaten lives deep in the jungle. Having local authorities shut down his
project is one fear, but having his team come to harm is another.  Antiquity thieves, paramilitary groups,
desperate locals, wild life, and more can all be a threat to a secluded
archaeological dig. But there’s another threat, a supernatural one…
    What is your hero’s
    biggest personal flaw?
He and Lauren are connected to the jungle in a
supernatural way that he refuses to acknowledge. His seeing-is-believing,
analytical mind denies what is obvious. And that could be dangerous for all of
    them on the team.
    What is your hero’s
    breaking point?
When Lauren goes missing. Can’t say more without a spoiler.

    About Your Writer

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
Kathy is a bit of an adventure herself. She’s traveled a
bit, explored the Mayan ruins in Tikal, Coba, and Tulum. She spoke to an
archaeologist (not me), when she decided to write this story. He even gave her
a Mayan artifact. The ruins must have inspired this story. I’m trying to
determine what happened to an entire culture that seemed to have vanished
hundreds of years ago. She asked the question: What if two Mayan lovers who
lived back then were faced with a tragic life event? Could their love survive
and they find each other again?
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
Hmmm. I’m devoted to my work, okay, I’m a work-aholic, but
my job as an archaeologist and professor is important and rewarding. Sometimes
I’m stubborn and keep blinders on. I guess I need to be more open to the
esoteric world. I’m not comfortable with that. I’d rather go with facts and figures
    and proven hypotheses.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
Perhaps my sister Sarita who’s working on a project in
Greece. Or the two young guys on the team Kyle and Justin.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
An archaeologist likes to uncover treasures and solve
mysteries. It’s a way we can connect with cultures to the past and better
understand them.  A writer likes to tell
stories. The stories have to be told as they come to her, and she must love to
share them with others. It’s her way of connecting with people from the present
    and also the future.
    Is there anything
you’d like to say to your writer?
Thanks for writing my story and forcing me to face what I
swore I’d never have to. And for helping me find the woman I was meant to be
with always—my soul mate, my lover. From one work-aholic to another, get away
from your desk and work. Have more fun. When you return refreshed, write what
you’re most passionate about. You’ll always have new stories to share with
    readers and fans.

Gabriel Church – Rubble and the Wreckage @roddclark #RLFblog #MM

Rodd Clark shares the creation Gabriel Church from the book Rubble
    and the Wreckage.

    About the Book

    Title Rubble and the Wreckage
    Genre M/M Romantic Thriller
    Author Rodd Clark
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Gabriel Church knows you can’t take a life without first understanding
just how feeble life is, how tentative and weak it stands alone. If you desire murder,
you hold a life in your hand. Whether you release it to grant life or grip tighter
to end it, it is at your command and discretion. Gabriel is a serial killer with
    a story he wants told.
Christian Maxwell studied abnormal psychology in college but
chose instead to focus on a career in writing. His background comes in handy when
he thinks of writing about a serial killer. He can’t think of anyone more qualified
to write the story of Gabriel Lee Church, and do so in the murderer’s own words.
It’s been done before, but never with a killer who has yet to be captured or convicted.
There was never anything more than a gentleman’s understanding
between the two men that Christian would record Gabriel’s life story. The killer
did not ask for his complicity in any crimes, nor did he ever ask for his silence.
Christian’s interest in the man, though, is fast becoming something more than academic.
When the writer and his subject become unexpected friends and then lovers, the question
remains: What is Gabriel’s endgame . . . and why does he want his story told?

    Introducing Gabriel Church

    Name: Gabriel Church
    Age: 36
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Kentucky
    Profession: Drifter
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): White
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include
any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Toned, strong, big.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
    Christian Maxwell
    Tell us about this character,
    please.
Educated, attractive erudite man in mid-thirties; closeted gay
when the story begins but desperate to find someone he trusts who can break the
    confines of his life.
    How does your hero dress?
Gabriel Church is the anti-hero of the series and dresses rough
and casual. It is his body that attracts not the denims and flannel and tee-shirts
    he is accustomed to wearing.
    If you could only hear
this character’s voice (but not see him) what characteristic would identify him?
Church is a dichotomy because he appears red-neck illiterate
from the outside, but in truth has his deep profound thoughts and belief-structure.
His voice is masculine without being wordy, but his control is always sensed and
displayed by the few sentences he blurts out. His speech illustrates a subtle wisdom
with a serious knife-like edge, because after-all, he has seen and done it all during
    his lifetime.
    How educated is this character?
Gabe is street smart but even with his high school education
he shows he is envious of Christian’s brain and intellect. He considers the man
an enigma and struggles with the knowledge that his life could have turned out very
differently had he been given the same chances at a college education. One that
    Christian has taken for granted.
    Is the character book-smart,
    self-taught, widely-experienced?
Christian as a protagonist is trained and educated with a background
that gives him the leg-up over his peers, where Church is self-taught and possesses
than skill of reading people and sizing up his competition.
    Does he scrape by, live
    comfortably, live extravagantly?
Gabriel survived only by his wits, and in a place where a bed
with clean sheets is considered a luxury.
    What is your character’s
    viewpoint on wealth?
Christian Maxwell was raised with financial comfort and due to
his degree always assumed his life would run according to plan. He is the exact
opposite of Gabriel Church who has never known wealth and comfort but sees the futility
in such pursuits, namely because he has seen the others he has killed die without
fanfare and without their protection of wealth or reputation. The rat-race of others,
as Church has called it, it something fragile and easily destroyed in his perception.
He holds no interest in obtaining any financial freedom, nor does he expect to ever
    find it.
    On what special skills
    does your character rely?
    Gabe relies on his ability to read others and spot their weaknesses;
it may be why he is so fascinated with Chris Maxwell, his polar opposite. Christian
doesn’t seem to possess that skill at all, and this creates a symbiotic relationship
of Gabe wanting to protect his lover from the dangers he sees so clearly.
    Are any of his skills
a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
If you were to ask Church that question in private he would easily
say it was his ability to fuck, and fuck well. He would smile his twisted grin and
flash his pearly whites, but in truth the reality was that he considered himself
a survivor, regardless of the odds. He lives his life without assistance, makes
no apologies and is very much the man’s man, counts only on his own abilities to
get from point A to point B.
What kinds of things does your character always carry (in pockets
    or purse)?
Church carries only a pocketknife and loose change, rarely more
    than that.
    What is your character’s
    family like?
Church has a dismal past and walked away from his family long
ago. Whereas Christian loves his family but doesn’t seem to express pride in them
or their accomplishments. Both men have slipped from the confines of family, but
for very different reasons and with very different outcomes.
    Is he close to family?
Christian is close to his family, but can go weeks without speaking
to them. Church has not spoken to anyone in his family since he left as a young
adult. But for him in particular, the ghosts of his childhood haunt him more regularly
than he would care to admit.
    Does he have children?
    No.
    Is your character involved
    in his community?
    No.
    How well does he know
    the neighbors?
Not really an option for a man on the run from the law.
    Does this character see
morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray?
Church can only see in shades of gray. His beliefs seem rigid
and morally unyielding, but he is plagued by every decision he makes. Those decisions
become questionable only after meeting someone new that he forms a connection with,
though he can’t fully fathom that at the time.

    About Your Writer

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
“I think he likes the bad boys more than he’s willing to
    admit.”
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
“I wanted my story told, but he gave too much away, I don’t
like that others can see all the shit I’ve done, particularly fucking a man.”
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
“My sister, he didn’t spend much time on her story, but
then again I think he believed it might make me sad, but he’d be wrong.”
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
“I have a story, good as any others I suppose…”
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
“Yeah, time to back the fuck off me. Write about someone
    else for a change!”

Kory from Crossed Hearts by @kimbervale #RLFblog #MMRomance

    K. Vale shares details about the creation of Kory Vansant in
    the book Crossed Hearts.

    About the Book

    Title Crossed Hearts
    Genre Contemporary MM Romance
    Author K. Vale
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
One heart’s been broken. The other is secondhand.
Kory Vansant doesn’t deserve to be alive.
As time sucks him dry of energy,
sapping the final ounces of strength from his congenitally enlarged heart, he’s
forced to end his career as Kory Kent, porn star. Staring down death, he
questions his life choices and prays for a miracle. For another chance at life,
he vows to change who he is at his core.
His prayers are answered. A perfect
heart now beats in his chest, but it comes at a heavy price. The donor is an
innocent young man cut down far too prematurely.
    Kory’s blemished history and his
donor’s spotless past are far from ideal matches.
As his debts skyrocket, Kory can’t
help but think his resolve to walk the high road is being tested. After he
meets the adorable Will Squire at the gravesite they both visit, he’s doubly
damned because there’s no way he can keep up his end of the bargain. What
happens when a man breaks a deal with a higher power?
Will often prefers the company of
the dead to that of the living. Following a bad breakup, he pours himself into
his two jobs—funeral director at his uncle’s mortuary and part-time paramedic.
He’s drawn ever closer to Kory, as if fate sticks her fickle hand in and pushes
them together like two unlikely puzzle pieces. But sometimes history can’t be
buried, and maybe divine intervention isn’t always right. Will discovers
everyone is imperfect, no matter how pretty the outer package, and opening
one’s heart is never easy, but can be oh, so worth the pain.

    Introducing Kory Vansant

    Name: Kory Vansant
    Age: 30
    Gender: Male
Birthplace: Samara, Russia. Raised in Seattle, WA after
    adoption.
Profession: Retired porn star, artist, and art instructor at
    Livingston Community College
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
Describe his body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: 6’2”, 200
pounds, extremely muscular before his heart condition took its toll, now less toned,
but still big, fair skinned with brown hair, including ample facial hair, and
brown eyes. He has a large scar down the center of his chest from his heart
    transplant surgery.
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
    Will Squire
    Tell us about him,
    please.
Will is a part-time paramedic and full-time funeral director
for Rolling Hills Funeral Home. He was hesitant to fall for Kory following a
bad breakup, but after getting to know him, he couldn’t help himself.
    How does your hero
    dress?
Kory dresses Salvation-Army-chic. His ripped-up jeans are
    frequently paint-spattered from his art.
    How educated is this
    character?
He has a Masters in Art History
    Does he scrape by,
    live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Kory definitely scrapes by. He’s in a tremendous amount of
debt related to his heart transplant and medications.
    Does your character
care about what others assume about him?
Kory doesn’t want his past as a porn star to dog him now
that he’s resolved to start over after the transplant. He’s upset when a fan
assumes he’s for hire because of his past sex work. Of course, he still relies
on some of the money that trickles in from his old career, and has a hard time
completely letting his porn persona go when he’s desperate for funds. It’s a
    tough situation for him.
    If someone from your
character’s past showed up, who would he most want it to be, and why?
He’d definitely want it to be his buddy, Mando. Mando and
his boyfriend, Jake, were Kory’s best friends from his years doing porn. When
Kory was in financial straits and awaiting a donor heart, Mando and Jake took
him in. Luckily, Kory will probably see his friends again in a subsequent book
in my Hearts and Scars series.
    What is your
character’s biggest need at the beginning of the story?
The first time we see Kory in Crossed Hearts, he’s
post-surgical and just waking up after his heart transplant. Until that point,
he’d been in limbo, not knowing if he was going to live or die. He’d made deals
in his head about changing his life as a porn star and walking the straight and
narrow path if he was saved. His greatest need at the beginning of Crossed
Hearts, then, is to figure out where his new heart, and new life, leaves him.
It’s almost a question of who he is now, which is an interesting place to
    start, I think.

    About Your Writer

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
I think she loved the idea of a bunch of lives intersecting
because of one incident. Brandon’s death was tragic, but it was my salvation in
a number of ways. It gave me my life, and it gave me Will, so I can’t help but
see it as a miracle. I also got the gift of meeting the Diazes, who have become
like a second family to me, so despite how sad it is that Brandon isn’t here,
    it’s also a tremendous blessing.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
Nothing. I had been trying to put my past behind me, but I
realized that it’s impossible. Her telling my story—from start to finish—was
pretty cathartic for me, in a way. I was able to eventually own it all, the
good, the bad, and the ugly, and that’s really the only way to start over and
be true to yourself and the people you love.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
Definitely Matt. My donor heart came from Matt’s boyfriend,
Brandon, and Matt was pretty much wrecked after Brandon died. I ache for him. I
really do. Matt and I have become friends, I think, and I really want him to
get to a happy place because right now, he’s still very lost and badly scarred.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
I think she’s a romantic and a dreamer, and when the two get
together, sometimes they birth stories that have to be told.
    Is there anything
you’d like to say to your writer?
Thanks for dreaming me up and helping me find my perfect
    partner!

Character Sketch: Julia, One More Second Chance @JanaRichards_ #RLFblog

    One More Second Chance
    by Jana Richards
    Message from author Jana Richards:
Today I’m here at Romance Lives Forever with Julia Stewart from
my new contemporary romance release. Before we talk to Julia, here’s the blurb from
One More Second Chance, which is part of the Lobster
    Cove
series from The Wild Rose Press.
Dr. Alex Campbell has an agenda–finish his contract to provide
medical services in Maine, pay off his medical school debt, and head back to his
real life in San Diego. But when he meets Julia, all his carefully laid plans are
    put in jeopardy.
Julia Stewart, Lobster Cove’s high school principal, swears she’ll
never let another man drag her away from the home she loves. Her aging parents need
her, and the Cove is where she wants to raise her daughter. When her mother’s illness
brings her and the big city doctor closer together, panic sets in. Her marriage
    taught her men don’t stay.
Can she put aside the heartaches of the past and trust Alex enough
to accept the love he’s offering? Or will her fear of abandonment mean she’ll send
    him away forever?
    Tell us about yourself.
    Where are you from?
I’m from a small town in Maine called Lobster Cove. The Cove
is located on Mount Desert Island, just down the road from Bar Harbor. I love this
town. I love the people here, I love the ocean, and I love my family. Lobster Cove
is a beautiful place to call home and I never want to leave.
But you did leave at one
    point, right?
Yes. My ex-husband and I spent a few years teaching in Thailand.
Russ loved it there, but I was homesick a lot of the time. When I got pregnant,
I wanted to come home and give birth to my daughter in the States. Russ was never
happy back in Lobster Cove, especially when I got the job as principal of the high
school, and essentially became his boss. When Ava was about three he demanded that
    we go back to Thailand.
    Why didn’t you go?
I was going to. I was afraid if I didn’t our marriage would be
over. But in the end it didn’t matter. Russ went on ahead to find us a place to
live. A few days later I got a call from him. He told me he didn’t want me to come.
    He didn’t love me anymore.
    That must have been very
    painful for you.
It was, but with help from my parents and my friends, I got through
it. And Ava helped me, too. I had to be strong for her. She’s the joy of my life,
and I intend on raising her here in Lobster Cove.
    How old is Ava?
(smiling) She just turned six the other day. We had seven six-year-old
girls at her birthday party. My ears are still ringing from all the excitement.
    (smiling) I remember those
    days. So you’re a teacher?
Yes. I’m presently the principal of Lobster Cove High School.
Do you like being a principal?
I do. I love the kids, and I love teaching, though these days
I’m more of an administrator than a teacher. Sometimes I miss being in the classroom.
But as principal, I have the opportunity to really make a difference in my students’
lives. But affecting change can be difficult. As much as I love Lobster Cove, people
can be pretty set in their ways here.
    Let’s get to the juicy
bits. Tell me about your relationship with Alex Campbell.
(shifts uncomfortably in her chair) There’s nothing to tell.
I don’t have a relationship with him. Not really.
    I don’t believe that and
I don’t think you do either. Tell me about your first meeting.
I thought he was an arrogant jerk when I first met him. Alex
is a doctor, and when I took Ava to the ER with a broken arm, he accused my mother
    of abusing her!
    And then?
(Sighs) Then we discovered what was really going on with my parents.
    Alex has been very supportive.
    Not to mention easy on
    the eyes.
(sits up straighter) It doesn’t matter how handsome he is, or
how beautiful his eyes are, or even how compassionate he is. When his contract with
the Island Health Board is up, he’ll be leaving Lobster Cove. End of story.
    It doesn’t have to be
the end. You could go with him.
(shakes her head) No, I couldn’t. Even if our relationship was
at that stage, which it’s not, I’m never leaving Lobster Cove again. My life is
here, and so are my responsibilities.
    But what if he stayed?
He’s not going to do that. There’s nothing in a small town like
Lobster Cove to entice a big city doctor like Alex.
    Nothing but you. Maybe
you could ask him to stay.
(turns away) If he stayed because I asked him to, he’d only grow
to resent me. It’s better this way.
    Better for who? Not for
Ava. She adores Alex and she needs a father. And not for you. If you don’t tell
him how much you care for him, he’s going to walk away. Is that what you want?
(gets to her feet) This interview is over.
    Don’t let your chance
    for love slip away, Julia.
    (Julia hurries away.)
    (calls after her) Don’t
lose him because you’re scared. Ask him to stay!

They drank their tea in silence, but the silence didn’t feel
awkward. Julia felt soothed, the stress slowly leaving her body. Perhaps her grandmother
had been onto something. The tea seemed to be working.
She finished the last of it and set down the cup. “I should
be going. I left Ava with Tracy, and she’s probably hungry by now.”
Julia got to her feet and headed to the front door, with Alex
following her. “Thanks for the tea, and for listening. I guess I needed both
    today.”
“Anytime. Seriously, Julia, anytime you need to talk, about
    anything, give me a call.”
She wondered if he was speaking as a doctor, as a friend, or
as a man. Which one did she want him to be?
    “Thank you.”
“I’ll try to keep an eye out for your folks, see if there’s
anything I can do for them.”
She was touched by his offer. “I really appreciate that,
but I know how busy you are.”
He waved away her concern. “It’s no big deal. I appreciate
my grandmother’s neighbors checking in on her, and I’d be happy to do the same.”
He really did understand how she felt. “In that case, thank
    you.”
She opened the front door and stepped outside. Turning to Alex,
she smiled. His thick hair had begun to dry, and the dark strands gleamed in the
spring sunshine. Her breath caught in her throat at his beauty.
    “Bye, Alex.”
    “Bye. Take care.”
Julia hurried down the steps and across the lawn to her car.
An appreciation for his looks was as far she could take any relationship with him.
Her life was too complicated, too full already. And she would never get involved
with a man who planned to leave Lobster Cove in only a few more months.

    About the Author

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately
knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper,
and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she
was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She
writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World
War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun,
she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal.
Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.
In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant,
a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf,
yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and
her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada with their Pug/Terrier cross Lou and several
unnamed goldfish. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her
    website at www.janarichards.com

Character Sketch: Sir Darius Lee | Leap Into The Knight @mjschiller #RLFblog #SFR

    Leap Into the Knight
    by MJ Schiller
M.J. Schiller shares details about the creation of Sir Darius
Lee in the book Leap Into The Knight.
    Title Leap Into The Knight
    Genre sci-fi romance
    Author M.J. Schiller
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
Sir Darius Lee is a Knight of the High Order.
But when Darius discovers a stranger in his room in the middle
of the night, and the intruder turns out to be a beautiful woman, he begins to question
how he is meant to live his life.
Princess Megan of Bethyea is being held captive.
But when two knights help her to escape and bring her back to
her home planet, she finds the home she knew no longer exists.
When The Council of Twelve questions Darius about his relationship
with Maggie, she tries to flee from The Academy of the High Order to prevent him
    from losing his knighthood.
Will Darius and Orion find Maggie before she leaves Albion? And
if they do, how can they face the decision of The Council? And what about the feelings
Orion has developed for the princess?

    Introducing Sir Darius Lee

    Name: Sir Darius Lee
    Age: 26
    Gender: M
    Birthplace: Albion
Profession: Knight of the High Order
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): human
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include
any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Six-foot-four, lean, muscular,
fair skinned, long, brown hair that he often pulls back and secures with a strip
of leather. Strong features, cheek bones, jaw, nose.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
    Princess Megan of Bethyea
    How does your hero dress?
Simply. Browns that are able to act as camouflage if necessary.
A loose fitting shirt for mobility and sturdy travel cloak that can also serve as
    a blanket or pillow.
    If you could only hear
this character’s voice (but not see him) what characteristic would identify him?
He has a deep, soothing voice. Confident and calm.
    Is the character book-smart,
    self-taught, widely-experienced?
All of the above. He studied at the Academy, but has learned
much through his travels throughout the galaxy.
Does he scrape by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Knights are taught to live simply, but he is also comfortable
in extravagant surroundings, often having to deal with diplomats and high-ranking
    officials.
    What is your character’s
    viewpoint on wealth?
    It is of little consequence.
    On what special skills
    does your character rely?
His wit. His fighting skills. His steady moral compass.
What is your character’s family like?
He remembers very little about his family as he was dropped off
at the Academy at a very young age.
    How do others perceive
your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
Because he is extremely tall, he might be seen as imposing. But,
while he can be a fierce fighter, he is really a kind and gentle man who is fair
    and understanding.
    Does your character care
about what others assume about him?
To a degree. He would not want people to be intimidated by him…unless
    the situation warranted it.
Can your hero keep a secret
    (why or why not)?
As a Knight of the High Order he often has to keep information
secret due to the nature of his missions. Besides, he would feel no need to gossip.
He is mostly a quiet man.
    What inner doubt causes
    your character the most difficulty?
He really has no inner doubts until he meets Maggie. His feelings
for her confuse him at the beginning, but once he has come to terms with them, he
is as resolute in his love for her as he has been about anything in his life.
When (if) he lies or is
    upset, what gives him away?
It is very easy to tell when he is upset because that inner calm
that usually exudes from him is missing.

    About Your Writer

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer the following
    questions.

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
She has a fascination for space travel and the concept of being
    a knight.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
I really have nothing that I an unwilling to share about myself.
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
I think Amar would be a fascinating topic because he likes to
live in the grey areas of life, skimming just along the borderline of what is legal
    and what is not.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
Hmm…I’m guessing that writing could be a soothing activity. I
seldom have time for it myself.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
I’d like to hear more stories about knights and how they handle
the unusual circumstances that come their way.
