Capturing Christmas a new #romance by @ShannaHatfield #RLFblog
This quick interview includes info about the author, and
introduces the story.About the Author
Convinced everyone deserves a happy
ending, hopeless romantic Shanna Hatfield is out to make it happen, one story
at a time. Her sweet historical and contemporary romances combine humor and
heart-pumping moments with characters that seem incredibly real. When she isn’t writing or indulging
in chocolate (dark and decadent, please), Shanna hangs out with her husband,
lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller. This USA Today bestselling author is a member of Western Writers of
America, Women Writing the West, Romance Writers of America, Sweet
Romance Reads, and Pioneer Hearts.Interview with Shanna Hatfield
Why did you write
this book? It’s the third book in my Rodeo Romance series. I’ve had a
blast with this series and wanted to see if continue. The heroes are tough, hunky cowboys and the
women are strong and determined. What is your favorite
genre to read?Historical romance.Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)? That is a tough question. I can’t pick just one, but one I’m
especially fond of is Essie Sprecklemeyer from Deeanne Gist’s Courting Trouble. She’s such a plucky
character who marches to her own tune. What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?I have two books releasing November 12 – Capturing Christmas
and The Christmas Vow. The sixth book in the Grass Valley Cowboys series will
be out soon. Look for The Cowboy’s Last Goodbye after Christmas. Please tell us about
your latest book.Life is hectic on a good day for
rodeo stock contractor Kash Kressley. Between dodging flying hooves and babying
cranky bulls, he barely has time to sleep. The last thing Kash needs is the
entanglement of a sweet romance, especially with a woman as full of fire and
sass as the redheaded photographer he rescues at a rodeo.Determined to capture the best
images possible, rodeo photographer Celia McGraw is fearless and feisty. Not
one to back down from a challenge, her biggest risk isn’t in her work. Danger
lurks in the way her heart responds to one incredibly handsome stock contractor. Will Kash and Celia capture the
spirit of the season?About the Book

#Cancer Awareness: To Do: Fight @VickiBatman #RLFblog
Season of Surprises From Kayelle Allen: This week on Romance Lives Forever I’m sharing
stories by authors who have faced cancer either in themselves, or a family member.
The importance of friends and family, and having a support system is vital. One
key to success is being able to ask for help — and then being willing to accept
it. It’s a lesson I’ve had in my own life during various times. I don’t accept help
well. It’s something I fight with all the time. I’d like to think “I’ve got
this” but sometimes I don’t have as good a grip as I thought I did. I have
a friend who’s dealing with cancer right now. A friend’s brother died from cancer
last year. Cancer affects all of us. I hope I’m even half as good a friend as those
you’ll read about in this series.I’m presenting these posts as an opportunity for the authors
to share their real life stories, as well as their fictional ones. There’s a short
list of ways you can show your support at the end of each post.To Do: Fight, by Vicki Batman
Most people know I refer to my husband
as Handsome. What some don’t know is eight years ago, he was diagnosed with throat
cancer. He had a swollen lymph node that all
doctors thought was allergy or infection-related. The drugs and antibiotics prescribed
didn’t knock it out. He had a needle biopsy which came back clean. His ENT doctor
said she wanted to remove the lymph and when doing so, found the cancer in three
spots. My son and I had been waiting for
the doc to tell us all was well with the surgery, but she took forever. When she
did say, she asked if we wanted to tell Handsome. I couldn’t. I couldn’t even speak
or hardly look at him. Waiting in the recovery room for her to discuss all was terribly
hard.Handsome was shocked too, but he was
very determined. He said, “Something to check off my yellow pad: Fight Cancer.”He showed none of the classic symptoms
that lead to throat/esophageal cancer. He smoked the rare cigar. Drank an occasional
vodka or wine. Worked out. Not overweight. Little family history. Yet, he had it.And so the battle strategy was formed
with an oncology doc, an ENT specialist, and the head of radiology. We had our dates,
we had our plans, we were marching forward. At first, I stuffed him with everything
imaginable, but mostly lots of cheese-related products, milkshakes, and pasta. He
eventually did lose 35 pounds because the radiation scarred his throat and swallowing
became difficult. He worked until fatigued, then worked at home. The only one who
cried was me when he shaved his head. Eight weeks later, the treatment was over.
And every subsequent test and examination has shown him to be clear.I believe a combination of many things
helped him through: his faith, our hope, family and friends, the skill of the doctors. And the determination to check off
his yellow pad: Fight Cancer.—Buy This Book

Why
did you write this book?Sweet romance and
holidays just seem to go together so well! This is a group project by 19 authors
from Sweet Romance Reads. We banded together to create a boxed set of holiday
novellas. It was a fun way to get into
the Christmas spirit as early as possible. My contribution, Sweet Blizzard, is
another installment in my Green Pines Romance series. The story spun itself
after I came across my grandmother’s holiday spice cookie recipe. What
is your favorite genre to read?Romance, but as long as
a book has a good love story in it, I’ll read any genre – from contemporary
romance, to historicals or political thrillers.Who
is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)? That’s a tough one. Hermione Granger or Lisbeth Salander? Neither
of them are romantic heroines! Sticking
to romantic heroines, I’ll vote for the little known Jean Paget from A Town
Like Alice by Nevil Shute. She’s strong, tough, kind – and based on the
war-time experiences of a group of real-life heroines that included my great-aunt.What
are you working on at the moment, and what will we see from you in coming
months?I’m working on another a
Green Pines Romance, a prequel to my novel Reclaiming Home, as well on as a
brand new series.Please
tell us about your latest book.Sweet Christmas Kisses 2
is a boxed set to welcome in the holiday season with 19 heartwarming and
wholesome novellas from New York Times, USA Today, national bestselling, and
award-winning authors.Our novellas take you
from the Smoky Mountains to Florida’s sun-drenched beaches, from the Italian
Alps to Paris, France, from the Midwest to a quirky little town in Arizona. The Sweet Christmas

Stephen Grafton from Christmas Carols by @DaisyBanks16 #Historical #RLFblog
Daisy Banks shares details
about the creation of Stephen Grafton in the book Christmas
Carols.About the Book
Title Christmas CarolsGenre Historical RomanceAuthor Daisy BanksBook heat level G, SweetStephen Grafton, the blind organist
at Holy Trinity Church, is gaining a reputation for his fine playing and
compositions. Alice Broadbrace’s initial venture back into society after years
in deep mourning brings her to the notice of the talented organist, and he offers
her the opportunity to sing a solo carol to his accompaniment. His courage
convinces her to find her own, while her charm entices him into thoughts of
romance. A difficult walk in a snow storm is only the beginning of Stephen and
Alice’s journey to happiness. Enjoy this sweet Victorian tale of talent and
love blossoming.Introducing Stephen Grafton
Name: Stephen GraftonAge: 29Gender: MaleBirthplace: Birmingham, England.Profession: Musician and composer, organist at Holy Trinity
Church.Ethnicity: EnglishStephen is approximately 5’10 in height, quite tall for the
era he lives in. He is lean and slender with fair hair and expressive hands.
Stephen has been blind since birth and uses a dog to help him, he calls the dog
Blue.Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?Alice Broadbrace. How does your hero
dress?Stephen wears the fashions of his era, the early 1860’s. His
day to day wear is a suit with tail coat, trousers and waistcoat. For recital
performances he asks his valet to tie an elaborate bow tie for him. His dog,
Blue, also has a bow on his collar for recital evenings. As the story is set in
the winter Stephen wears a warm top coat and a hat. He does wear gloves as is
socially acceptable for the era but he dislikes them as they mean he loses
depth in his sense of touch. If you could only
hear this character’s voice (but not see him) what characteristic would
identify him?Self certainty and confidence radiate in Stephen’s voice. He
has passed through many trials to reach the position he is in and this means he
is definitely willing to voice his opinion with little fear. How educated is this
character?Stephen has a doctorate in music from Cambridge. He prefers
not to use the official title as he finds people make presumptions about him if
he does. He takes an interest in things cultural and issues of the day in his
local community.Does he scrape by,
live comfortably, live extravagantly?Stephen has his own home not too far from Holy Trinity
Church. A legacy from a relative assisted him to attend Cambridge and once he
qualified to purchase his home. He receives a salary from the church for his
playing and his recitals. He lives comfortably enough with his dog, has a
manservant to attend him and assist with the running of his house, and a maid
of all work who comes in to clean. What is your
character’s viewpoint on wealth?Wealth is a useful tool which enables Stephen to travel and
live his life in the way he wishes. He does not consider himself to be a
wealthy man in monetary terms he is far more concerned with his music. Are any of his skills
a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why? When Stephen was a very small boy a tutor recognized his
talent in music. He is a gifted musician and with coaching his skills improved
to the point he could attend university to study further. Stephen is aware of
his skills and is very demanding of himself in performance and composition. He
would say he is always learning. What kinds of things
does your character always carry in his pockets?Stephen usually carries a white linen handkerchief, keys to
his home and to his cash box in the house. He also makes sure he has his coin
holder and some dog biscuits as a treat for Blue.Does this character
see morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray? This question would entertain Stephen as being blind he
doesn’t see the world through visuals but through touch, sound and smell.
Stephen has a strong sense of what he considers right and wrong, and finds some
social customs and expectations foolish especially those Alice believes might
lead to gossip. He would say, the gossips should go and find more useful
occupations.Does your character
care about what others assume about him?In short, no. Stephen is a self confident person and has a
vast amount of self belief. He takes care that his appearance and manners should
be acceptable and has attained a level of independence he enjoys. If people
assume he is weakened in any way by being blind he will do his best to show
them that is not so. He does recognize there are situations when he requires
some assistance and isn’t too proud to ask for it in unfamiliar places.About Your Writer
Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?Ms. Banks enjoys the unusual and I suspect she found me a
surprise and therefore wished to work with me. As the story continued I like to
think Ms. Banks grew rather fond of Alice and I. We are both glad she told the
story.What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?Nothing. I am aware that there are times in the story when I
am forthright and frank but those qualities are part of my personality. I am
sure readers will understand my motives for some comments were genuine concerns.
I only wanted the best outcome possible. What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?I think Ms. Banks should devote sometime to Elijah Whistler,
the owner of the Eagle Book Emporium. I would think there might be a natural
affinity between the two, with his interest in books and her work as an author.
If Ms. Banks spent some time working with him it might also soothe his
discomfort at the outcome of my story. Why do you think your
writer loves to write?Ms. Banks listens to music frequently but she is not
musical. I am afraid that is a flaw I am forced to comment on. Ms. Banks
neither plays nor sings and in my opinion she therefore devotes her energies to
writing. I do know she is quite driven at times when she writes. Having some
understanding of the creative process I recognize its grip on an individual.
However, I still think she would be improved by a more direct association with
music. When she began the tale I had hopes to influence her to at least take up
some choral activity but sadly I failed. Is there anything
you’d like to say to your writer?Ms. Banks, Alice and I thank you for putting our story into
words.Buy This Book
