    Firebird a new #ContemporaryRomance by @JenniferTLoring #RLFblog

    Firebird
This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces
    the story.

    Interview with Jennifer Loring

Jennifer Loring’s short fiction has appeared in numerous magazines,
webzines, and anthologies. In 2013, she won Crystal Lake Publishing’s inaugural
Tales from the Lake writing competition; in 2014, DarkFuse published her novella
Conduits, and in May 2015, Omnium Gatherum released her debut novel, Those of My
Kind. She recently signed a deal for a contemporary romance trilogy with Limitless
Publishing; the first book, Firebird, was published on October 20, 2015. Jennifer
lives in Philadelphia, PA with her husband, their turtle, and two basset hounds.
    Why did you write this
    book?
The idea originally came to me in a dream: What would happen
if a woman ran into her high school sweetheart, now a famous hockey player, one
night at a bar and one thing led to another? What if she was already in a relationship?
I’m a huge hockey fan, and I couldn’t get the idea out of my head, especially when
I started taking it further. What if he suffered a horrible injury on-ice, and how
    would that affect their relationship?
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
Horror and dark fantasy, actually. I first read Stephen King
when I was 11. Horror is what made me want to become a writer.
    Who is your favorite character
from fiction (not including your own)?
That’s a tough one. I’m just going to throw a few out there.
Irrylath from Meredith Ann Pierce’s The Darkangel Trilogy; Constantine from Robin
McKinley’s Sunshine; Zach from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood; Elphaba from Wicked.
    What are you working on
at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’m working on the second book in the Firebird Trilogy as well
as a paranormal romance. I have a couple of short stories coming out in anthologies
as well. I’m also writing a proposal for a sci-fi romance novella, and toying with
the idea of a hockey romance novella for next Christmas.
    Please tell us about your
    latest book.
Stephanie Hartwell is a journalist chasing the story of her career…
When superstar hockey player and notorious bad boy Aleksandr
Volynsky is traded to the Seattle Earthquakes in a blockbuster deal, Stephanie demands
the opportunity to prove herself by scoring an exclusive interview with a man with
no love for the media…the same man she once thought, as a naïve teenager, she’d
    someday marry.
An Olympian and Stanley Cup Champion, Aleksandr has achieved
    every goal he’s ever set…
Now expected to carry a failing team on his shoulders, Aleksandr’s
troubles deepen when he encounters Stephanie after a season-opening loss. His lifestyle
of drinking and random hookups has been a futile attempt to forget the beautiful
tomboy who stole his heart nine years ago. And worse, fame and fortune have made
it impossible for him to trust anyone—especially Stephanie, who is engaged to another
    man.
Romance rekindles, but tragedy reveals Aleksandr’s dark side…
Being with Aleksandr in the first place jeopardizes Stephanie’s
journalistic integrity and threatens her career, and when he spirals out of control,
it reawakens fears from her own history, making her unable to commit to a future
    with him.
When Aleksandr discovers the truth behind his self-destructive
behavior, will his newfound self-awareness be enough to convince Stephanie to give
    him one last chance…
Or will his revelation drive her away for good?

When She Knows: Franconia Notch Trilogy Book 1 @JessieClever #RLFblog #contemporary

Jessie Clever author of When She Knows: Franconia Notch
Trilogy Book One answers five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

In the second grade, Jessie began a story about a duck and a lost
ring.  Two harrowing pages of wide ruled
notebook paper later, the ring was found.
And Jessie has been writing ever since.
Armed with the firm belief that women in the Regency era could be truly
awesome heroines, Jessie began telling their stories in her Spy Series, a
thrilling ride in historical espionage that showcases human faults and triumphs
    and most importantly, love.
Jessie makes her home in the great state of New Hampshire where she
lives with her husband and two very opinionated Basset Hounds.  For more, visit her website at
    jessieclever.com.
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
    My mom’s mac and cheese!
She just don’t make it often enough.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
Me and a bag of books relaxing by a quiet New Hampshire lake
in the brilliant, warm sunshine.  I’ll
    let my dogs come, too.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
I’ll show my geeky side here and say my mom’s medical
dictionary.  I would pretend it was the
grail diary from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  It looked just like it and provided hours of
    make believe.
    What kinds of things do
you read when you’re researching a new book?
For this book, I read a lot of vacation websites.  I had lived in Portland for many years, but I
wanted to visual Portland as if I were a reader, absorbing the city for the
    first time.
If the hero of your latest

Ridge from Merry Christmas Baby by @liviaquinn #RLFblog #romance #holiday

Livia Quinn shares details about the creation of Ridge
Romano in the books, Her First Knight, and her new release, Merry Christmas,
    Baby

    About the Book

    Title        Merry
    Christmas, Baby (A Knights Christmas)(Book3)
    Genre     Contemporary
    Romance (Military)
    Author    Livia Quinn
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
It’s a Christmas weekend full of love and Larue
social media is a twitter at the return of their hometown movie star, Ducane
Beauregard Larue, and a visit by Raptors quarterback, Gino Manelli, at the only
place to celebrate Christmas Eve—the Romanos’. Catch up with the characters
from Larue and Thunder Point, and as a bonus get a peek into the lives of
    upcoming characters.
Beau hates Christmas. It reminds him of what he can’t have.
He’s been avoiding homecomings, and the biggest reason is unavoidable this
Christmas – Madison Hart, who has loved Beau for most of her adult life.
Whenever rumors surface about him returning home, Madison hyperventilates at
the prospect of seeing him again.
Samantha Larue’s baby is overdue and everyone is
hovering including Jed, who ended their relationship last summer because kids
    weren’t “in his future”.
Bad guys don’t scare Delilah Burke but Luc’s mother and five
sisters have her stalling on setting a date to marry the man she loves.
This Christmas nothing could make Buffy Romano happier than
delivering a few surprises and helping the people she loves find love.
Then, a Christmas Eve miracle confirms what she already knows – that with a
little nudge, all her love ones’ happily ever afters will happen in the
    not so distant future.

    Introducing Ridge Romano

    Name: Ridge Romano
    Age: 33
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Virginia
Profession: Ex-military, Billionaire CEO, veterans advocate
    and cover model
Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Caucasian, Italian
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Ridge has shoulder
length black hair and dark eyes, perpetual tan, six-feet two. His rigid diet
keeps his body hard and ready for a photo shoot. His smile lights up the room,
but it doesn’t happen often enough.
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
    Lana “Buffy” Calloway, famous
fashion model and photographer who saw Ridge as the face of her model/ad
agency. She has a couple surprises for him at their Christmas Eve party.
    Tell us about this
    character, please.
Ridge was a child prodigy, a genius inventor, who was given
his own laboratory in the Army to do his bionic research. After his brother
stepped on an IAD and lost his battle with depression, Ridge devoted his life
to improving the lives of veterans. He created two companies that provide state
of the art prostheses to veterans at no charge, then sold them to put together
a consortium of private companies which will take over the care of veterans
from the government, if he can get
the vote past Congress. Ending up on the strip bingo stage at a romance
convention could destroy everything he’s worked for. (Her First Knight)
    How does your hero
    dress?
Most of the time Ridge is in a dark well-cut suit and tie. He’s a
serious guy and doesn’t have time to relax (except for that time he showed up on
the strip bingo stage, and later in a loincloth…).
    What is your
    character’s viewpoint on wealth?
He is a generous man to whom much has been
given — wealth, intelligence, and means, and feels a duty to support
responsible people who match his vision, and those in need.
    Does he have children?
    Ridge never
planned to be married. He was laser focused on his vision for the consortium,
but now that he and Buffy have been married for two years, could be it’s time…
    Is your character
    involved in his community?
Yes, Ridge feels like all the experiences in his life led
him to this place, to Buffy. But community to Ridge means more than just Larue
and Buffy’s large family, though he’s come to love them all. It also includes veterans
and their families and a huge group of romance writers and readers who continue
to support his vision for our nation’s defenders.
    How do others
perceive your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
This is a common theme in the Under-Cover Knights. Each man
is more than just a handsome face or six-pack abs. They see no reason why their
hard earned fitness shouldn’t be used to sell products, movies or novels, even
romance novels; and if it supports a higher cause, even better. (Besides
there’s the added perk of working with beautiful women.) They are men of character
with personal interests and the drive to contribute to their community, for Luc
it’s teens and for Ridge, veterans.
    How emotionally
expressive is your character to others?
As you can imagine, as a child geek
who was totally into his tech toys, Ridge was more of an introvert. And though
he has loved his wife since before he even thought he had a chance with her,
he’s only recently even kissed her in public. I think he likes it.
    BONUS:
    Ridge, what would you
most like to communicate about the men at Knights Production, Inc.?
I’d just like to see these men, and women, get the credit
they deserve for their hard work as models and with their involvement in the
community. I was guilty of being short-sighted myself before I met Buffy. They
    have my utmost admiration.

    About Your Writer

    Why did you decide to
allow this author to tell your story?
I met Livia while she was researching Luc and Delilah’s
book, Hard Days Knight. Back then, I was merely Luc’s boss but after she found
out the extent of veterans’ needs in this country, she got a vision for what
I’ve been trying to accomplish with the consortium. After grilling her on her
true motivation and making sure she could represent my agenda and tell the
story of how Buffy and I met miraculously,
without totally embarrassing me, I agreed.
    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
Livia said she was awed by the
overwhelming need of veterans and what I was trying to accomplish with the
consortium and wanted to get the word out. And, well…she said she was
especially taken with my impromptu strip-tease.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
<He rubs his dark jaw, thinking> The strip bingo
contest could have been much worse, but that’s not her fault. Livia didn’t
expose my faux pas; a nice lady in the audience snapped a picture with her
phone and it went viral. It was serendipity.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
Jed Stern, definitely. Being a cop and a fitness fanatic,
he’d be a great addition to our portfolio. So far he’s adamantly refused. Jed
acts like he’s so tough but if you could have seen him around Samantha for the
last six months… and during the Christmas party, he was a hero.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
I don’t think she has any choice. I found her while she was
driving on the Interstate, but she says characters are always following her to
the tub or on the road, begging to have their stories told. For a while she
thought she was crazy but now she just accepts it as a calling.

  • 5 Easy Questions,  Contemporary

Eve Dangerfield of Degrees of Control @Eve_Dangerfield #RLFblog #contemporary

Eve Dangerfield of Degrees of Control answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better.
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
    My mother’s Italian and
on special occasions she makes hand rolled gnocchi which we serve with homemade
sauce, fresh bread, red wine and braised pork ribs. It’s basically the best
meal ever. Just typing that has made me unbearably hungry.
    Who is your “book
boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
    Any of Cara McKenna’s blue
collar heroes majorly get my blood pumping but I have a huge soft spot for
Flynn. He’s a boxer from one of her early novels Willing Victim. Even though I
think I would annoy him in real life (he’s very stoic, I’m very ‘court
jester-y’) I would do bad things to spend a long weekend in his bed.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
    A complete replication of the
trip to Europe I took with my boyfriend when I was 22. We spent our days in
museums and art galleries and cafes, eating cheese plates and drinking wine and
we spent our night dancing and drinking cocktails and making love. It was the
kind of vacation where there’s so much beauty and pleasure in hindsight the
whole thing feels like a dream.

    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
    A rocking horse called Dandy.
He was furry and had huge red button eyes than in hindsight were super creepy.
When I was too big to ride him my mum and dad gave him to my little brother.
Unfortunately his unblinking gaze gave Tom nightmares so off to the tip Dandy
went. I like to think he’s still out there, riding a big wave of garbage,
waiting for me to reclaim him.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
    Romance and erotica. I
started reading them when I finished an English literature course and needed a
break from Medea and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (urgh) and I never looked
back. A cup of tea and good romance is my favorite way to spend a weeknight and
I find all the subgenres fascinating. If I want to read something chill and I’m
not in the mood for romance I just go through Harry Potter again. I’ve read
twelve times and it’s always, always amazing. I feel for people who lived and
    died without reading Harry Potter.
