It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?
Tyler is rarely bored. He worked long and hard to build his business and even now it captures his attention most often. When he takes a break he spends time with his sister and her son. Now of course, he’d like to be spending time with Austin, if she’d ever wake up to the fact that he loves her.
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
He’s a burger and fries kind of guy generally. But he lives in San Francisco, so anything he has a hankering for he can easily find. He enjoys North Beach for Italian or some of the best stir fry from Chinatown.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
Tyler is the kind of man who dresses the way he wants people to view him. So at work he wears a suit. At home or out with family he wears jeans and a sweatshirt (or tee). He’s not into anything fancy or trendy—or even name brands. He just wants to be comfortable and yet neat.
Does he know how to fix things?
Yes, he’s pretty handy. His sister is a widow and he’s taken care of things around her house for years. Strangely, where he will make time to repair things at his sister’s, he usually hires someone to make repairs beyond tightening a screw at his own place.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Austin has never given Tyler the time of day. But when an unusual opportunity presented itself to get Austin alone and seduce her without revealing his identity, he grabbed it. Was it the right things to do? NO!!! Not surprisingly, Austin was not happy. Tyler had to fight to gain back any ground he’d won for her affection and it was not fast or easy coming.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
Tyler is very close to his nephew Robbie, and he likes kids. Meeting children doesn’t faze him. He’d always thought he would marry and have a big family and it’s still something he wants.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
He’s one of those annoying people who wakes up ready for the day. Hardly even needs a cup of coffee.
Can he use chopsticks?
Absolutely! And he uses them often because Chinese is one of his favorite kinds of food.
Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?
He drinks lots of coffee! He takes it black.
What apps would he have on his phone?
He’s not one for social apps or games. He would have only those things needed for business. He would probably also have something related to food—a food service or an order app for his favorite restaurants, especially for when he eats at the office.

Beard or clean-shaven?
Clean shaven.
Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
His skin is free and clear. He was never interested in tattoos and piercings or earrings are just…no.

Normally he’s too impatient for public transport so he drives to work. But for a few days he took the bus and he’s very happy that he did!

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
She pulls out her sketch pad and works on some ideas for graphic designs. She doesn’t care for websites with lots of garish colors or overly active graphics, preferring to represent client’s products with thoughtful images. It takes time, but it’s what she loves to do.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Austin lives with her hypochondriac mother who loves being doted on. Most nights Austin stops on the way home and picks up dinner, so most every meal is impulse. She likes Chinese and Mexican as a rule, but splurges on hamburgers.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Dumpy, loose and ill-fitting. She thinks they hide her body and her life—and to most people the ploy works. But not to Tyler who suspects there’s a real beauty under those too-big sweatshirts but who really doesn’t care. He’s already captured by the woman beneath the clothes.
Does she know how to fix things?
No. Not even herself. Until a strange and unusual opportunity presents itself. Then it’s all systems go!
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
She tried to follow her supervisor’s orders during a client presentation and was losing the client altogether. Before the client stormed out, she took a breath and presented her own idea. It took nerve she didn’t know she had but she saved the account.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
She’s totally uncomfortable around small children, but somewhat older kids, like Tyler’s nephew, she enjoys. She encourages Robbie’s interest in art and web design and finds she has a friend and ally.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Sleepy, not ready to get up. But she has a job to get to and a bus ride to deal with. Turns out, a particular bus ride ends up changing her life!
Can she use chopsticks?
Absolutely! Can’t everyone?
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
Yes. In fact, she drinks a lot of coffee! A working girl’s best friend!
What apps would she have on her phone?
Anything that would help her when she sets up her own business. For fun, Solitaire, which is also a sad commentary on her life before the infamous bus trip! She doesn’t need a business app when she’s working for Tyler, although she likes Evernote.

Earrings or unpierced ears?
Pierced. She doesn’t dress up much, though, or use much jewelry. That would bring too much attention to herself.
Tattoos or unadorned skin?
She would almost rather die than be tattooed. For Austin, that’s a level of ostentatiousness hard to imagine.

She doesn’t own a car, so always public transport.

It’s not that I’m the world’s greatest Green Bay Packers fan, and by that I mean I don’t really know diddly about football in general, but I like Green Bay. I like that the fans own the team and how loyal they are. And we lived outside Green Bay for a while and I love the area. Actually, I am interested in most of the teams that represent the areas where (or near where) we’ve lived. So that includes Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, and Carolina Panthers. So see? My “fanship” is spread out quite a bit. There is one exception to the “root for the home team” rule, but I’m not saying what it is.
Describe the perfect vacation.
First and foremost, being with my honey. Doing anything and being anywhere is a vacation if we’re together. But it’s fun if we’re somewhere new, where there are things to see but comfortable places to return to, also. We’re of an age where an afternoon nap is fun, so we don’t go where the action is non-stop anymore. We like theatre and museums and such, not theme parks. Flying anywhere is too much hassle, so we tend to go places where we can drive. Old truckers never lose the driving bug!
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I had a little stuffed monkey, light brown with a hard face. He was on a stretch of elastic and I dragged him around everywhere! My mom still has him.
What are your hobbies?
Reading is the best hobby of all! I used to do counted cross stitch and some crewel work, but then writing and working seemed to take up most of my time.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
I’ve collected travel magazines and points of interest brochures from places we’ve traveled over the years and use them for reference, along with maps. And of course, I use all kinds of sources on the Internet, including Wikipedia and travel sites. Cassandra’s profession is creative and artistic—she is a renowned painter and fabric artist. She’s rarely bored because her mind is always teeming with ideas of what to do next. But she loves reading so when boredom does strike, she can pick up a good book. During the day, she would take a walk—she lives in beautiful San Francisco so walking refreshes the mind as well as inspired new ideas.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Pie. She loves a well-made pie and she indulges in peach pie on her first night in South Carolina.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Loose, comfortable. When she’s working she needs to be able to move freely, so nothing tight or restrictive.
Does she know how to fix things?
Not really. She can change a lightbulb. As a widow she doesn’t have a man around to “fix” things. But her best friend lives next door and her husband is willing and happy to help with things Cassandra can’t handle.

She tried to persuade Dan Morgan to help her solve the mystery of her dreams. She’s been dreaming about Dan—a man she doesn’t know—for months. She knows he’s at the heart of why and how her husband died. But… Dan is a former policeman and a realist. He has no use for psychics or mumbo jumbo. She approached him in the worst way and ensured that he wouldn’t help.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Cassandra loves children but she isn’t around them very much. She stands back and takes time to know them. She’s not one of those women who steps forward to hold the new baby first.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Cassandra has a very even temperament. She wakes up easily and doesn’t get off kilter often.
How does she act around people who don’t know what she is?
Fame and the accompanying fortune is nice but it’s not what motivates her. Therefore, she is very down to earth and easy to be with and talk to. With Dan she might be a little too nice and accommodating, but that is something she has to figure out for herself.
Will she let a worker handle things or do it herself?
Sure. She’s not a control freak. But she does have pretty exacting standards, so that doesn’t mean that she won’t examine the task, whatever it is, when it’s finished.

Pierced earrings. She uses accessories when she dresses to go out but not on a daily basis.

In San Francisco, public transport whenever possible. But she drove her car across country in her search for the man of her dreams!

Please provide a physical description of Dan.
Am I allowed to say Dan’s handsome as all hell and leave it at that? No? *sigh* Okay. Dan has blue eyes and brown hair that could stand a trim. He’s about 6 feet 2 inches and pretty muscular. He used to be on the San Francisco police force and he’s kept that lean, mean attitude that still shows in stern expressions and confident swagger.
Please tell us a little about your character.
Dan was on the SFPD for years, working homicide until he moved home when he’d had enough death and political bull. He loves his mama and her twin sisters, his house on the lake, fried chicken and hush puppies. And he loves his peace and quiet, which is why he resented Cassandra Hudson poking her nose into his town and his life. He’s a badass and rude when he has a mind to be, but there’s no one better to have on your side when badassery is needed.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
Cassandra Hudson, a beautiful, self-proclaimed psychic from California. She shows up, meets Dan by accident and says that she’s there to find him and warn him of a danger to his life. He’s not impressed.
How does your hero dress?
Casual clothing, jeans and tee shirts while he’s working or fishing, slacks and button-down shirt when he’s out.
What are the qualities of his voice? (pitch, quality, volume)
Rich baritone that drops to a low growl when he’s aroused. He has a decided drawl with soft vowels and a slow cadence that mesmerizes Cassandra.
How educated is this character? Is he book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
He attended the University of South Carolina, but got his real education on the police force in San Francisco. That’s where he learned to read people and how to handle himself.
Does he scrape by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Dan makes custom furniture and earns a very good living from it. But what he really cares about is fishing, being with family, and his friends. He loves his town and being able to live life as he wants.
What special skills does your character rely on?
He hasn’t forgotten the skills he learned on the force. So he keeps a sharp eye on his environment, continues training with his revolver and hones his rifle skills with hunting during the season. He also knows where to find the best fishing on the lake and how to fry up his catch. Fine furniture making takes patience and steadiness, as well as a good eye, and Dan has all of those, which explains how he can make such a good living at it.
What is your character’s family like?
Dan’s father is dead, but his mother is still alive and living with her twin sisters in Abbeville, a few miles from Greenwood. His mother is justifiably proud of him, as are his aunts, Birdie and Delia. Birdie and Delia are a hoot! I based them on my mom and her twin sister, who we call the Twin Tornadoes. The nickname fits, as it would for Delia and Birdie. All three ladies are Southern, through and through, which is a characteristic I love.
Is he close to family?
Absolutely! Very close.
Does this character see morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray?
Like many police officers, Dan sees black and white. He’s not a very flexible man in that regard.
What is your hero’s biggest personal flaw?
His inability to bend or see anything beyond his experience.

Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
Dee has a vision of the perfect man and I’m it. Haha! No, really, she had Cassandra in mind first and needed a good foil. So she created a hardnosed, irrationally rational, badass—me. And I’m perfect for Cassandra in every way, both as a nemesis and a lover.
What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
How mean I was to Cassandra at the beginning. It’s not something I’m proud of and my mama would be real disappointed in me if she knew. Which of course she will if she reads this book. Damn.
Was there anything your writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
Turns out, I have something of a kinky side. I sure as hell never knew it about myself, but I guess Cassandra brings out every aspect of me when it comes to making love. I was surprised but fortunately, neither Cassandra nor I are unhappy about the discovery.
What do you wish your writer would write next?
I think Dee like paranormal, so I believe she should write more of them. She added Passionate Destiny to her paranormal collection, but she should do more.
