questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Besides Catherine being a wife and
mother, she has ridden and exhibited Morgan Sport Horses. She’s an avid
clothing and costume designer, an award-winning amateur photographer, a 4-H
leader, and a Red Hatter who loves bling.
She lives on a farm nestled in the
foothills of the Allegheny Mountains of Western Pennsylvania. In the quiet of
the countryside, she writes fantasy, futuristic, and paranormal stories where a
reader can escape to other worlds for adventure and romance.
Her short stories have appeared in
hard-copy and online anthologies and magazines. Besides having two novels
published, soon to be released is her lighthearted fantasy/sci-fi romance
HEARTS AKILTER. Catherine also gives writing workshops, both online and

    What’s your
    favorite down-home family style meal?
Homemade meatloaf that is topped with bacon strips (no
gravy, no ketchup or tomato sauce topping), mashed potatoes with real butter,
and cream corn. Dessert would be peach pie.
    What is your
go-to meal when you dine out?
Kentucky Fried Chicken strips, mashed potatoes with extra
    gravy, and coleslaw.
    Tell us about
your favorite toy as a child.
I never considered her a toy. She was an 18 inch princess
doll with red-gold hair and blue glass eyes with eyelids that opened and
closed. She was made of plastic, had articulated arms and legs, and had a
beautiful face and soft smile. I loved the doll and played dress-up with her
for hours— even sewed dresses for her. I have forgotten her name, but her image
is indelibly imprinted in my mind. Oddly enough, I still have the well-worn and
aged patterns for her outfits and they work for Darq, the doll-avatar-heroine
of my 2012 novel, Jewels of the Sky.
    What are your
    hobbies?
Sewing and photography. I have won ribbons at the local fairs
with my sewing and photography.  My
favorite clothing items to sew and enter in the fair are aprons and
culottes.  My favorite photo subjects are
rocks and flowers. Rocks for their textures and colors. Flowers for their
color, shape, and the play of light across their petals.
    If the hero of
your latest book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for
    him?
The hero of Hearts Akilter is Deacon Black, a bomb disposal
expert. He lives in the future, so no cell phone.  However, if he did have a private comlink
alert tone, it would likely be the “meep meep” of the Roadrunner when
    Wile E. Coyote gives chase.

When a medical robot insists he’s
having a heart attack, Marlee Evans, a pragmatic maintenance technician, has
every reason to panic. There’s a bomb inside him.  Since Marlee can’t risk the bomber
discovering she’s found the device, her only option is to kidnap Deacon Black,
an unflappable bomb expert, and secretly convince him to disarm it.  Things go slightly awry when Deacon sets a
trap for someone who is trying to kill him, and inadvertently captures Marlee
instead.  Instantly intrigued by her refreshingly
forthright and gutsy attitude, he’s smitten.
Unfortunately for Deacon, Marlee recently hardened her heart and swore
off men, especially handsome ones with boy-next-door grins.  But as Marlee and Deacon attempt to identify
and prevent the bomber from detonating the device, they discover that love may
be the most explosive force of all.
