Is It True: Fear the Reaper by Jami Gray @jamigrayauthor #RLFblog #Postapocalyptic #RomanceWelcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Jami Gray, author of Fear the Reaper, a Post-apocalyptic Romance. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

Fear the Reaper by Jami Gray

    Genre Post-apocalyptic Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
When the hunter becomes the hunted, it’s time to reap what you sowed…
The world didn’t end in fire and explosions, instead it collapsed slowly, like falling dominoes, an intensifying panic of disease, food shortages, wild weather and collapsing economies, until what remained of humanity battles for survival in a harsh new reality.
After vowing to never again put his life on the line for another’s ambitions, Reaper, leader of Fate’s Vultures, has earned himself a formidable reputation. Unfortunately, that reputation isn’t enough to stop an old enemy from retaliating. With bounty hunters sniffing at their heels, Reaper vows retribution and takes the Vultures to the one person no one expects–Lilith, the woman he once loved.
As leader of the Rocky Mountain territory, Lilith has paid dearly for a position that kept her secrets safe. When a looming threat draws close, every devil’s bargain she’s made falls by the wayside and she is forced to partner with the man who walked away.
With no choice but to work together against a common enemy, Lilith and Reaper need to find their way through the minefield of past betrayals and broken promises to ensure a future for those they’ve sworn to protect … before it all goes to hell.

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?
Nope, this is actually my twelfth.
this book is part of a series?
Yep! I’m a serious series writer (try saying that five times fast!) This is the fourth and last book in my post-apocalyptic romance series, Fate’s Vultures.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Of course. Actually, every time I get near the middle, I start worrying about the story. Even worse, as I head into the end, the characters start haunting my dreams. When it comes the world that the Vultures live in, yeah, those images seeped into my dreams more than once and kept me up.
you did research for this book?
I’m a research fiend, so I could lose myself in research. I have to limit how much time I spend on research. To help ensure my world building rang true, I ended up reading a lot of theorical papers on worse case scenarios for world economies, civilizations, and so forth. It was actually pretty darnn scary to delve that deep into some scenarios, but the fact that humans managed to find a way to rise above, keeps the light of hope burning. I hang on to that hope no matter how discouraging the stories playing across our world theater.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
Nope, everyone’s human. The difference these characters have been honed by brutal circumstances and a harsh new world, so black and white is actually a murky kind of gray.
this book has more than one genre?
To me, no. It’s a straight up post-apocalyptic romance, but I’ve watched it get categorized as Sci-Fi (I’m not even sure how that’s possible) and Action & Adventure (and I can totally see that one).
you speak more than one language?
Not fluently. I grew up on the US/Mexico border so I spend most of my teenage years speaking Spanish.
you grew up where you live now?
I’ve stayed in the same state, yes, but not without some side trips to the Pacific Northwest and Utah. Somehow, I always end back in Arizona. My Knight in Slightly Muddy Armor and I will probably attempt another escape in a few years when the Prankster Duo have settled. Fingers crossed we’ll be successful this time.
    you love to read?
Holy mama-jamma, do I ever. I’m an avid reader, have been for-freakin’-ever. When I’m not on a project I can devour four to five books a week, but when I’m writing I tend to slow down to two to three.
    you are never late?
I wish I could claim that honor, but I do my best not to be. I find that if I’m trying to stuff a bunch of errands into a condensed timeframe, I tend to skate the tardiness line.
    you love pizza?
Eh…I like it, but love it? Not me. The males in my house, however, consider it a primary food group.
    you love sushi?
That I do, and because the males in my house don’t, it leaves more for me.
    you have a pet?
Two beautiful furry girls–Lola and Angel–our rescue-lab sisters. I needed to balance out the gender scales in my humble abode.

Samantha Shaughnessy enjoys the success as Head of Advertising for a popular magazine in the Irish capital Dublin. Married to Padraic, she thinks she loves her husband, but when she meets Hollie under unusual circumstances, she needs to face the truth–and not just about her marriage.

    No
you lost sleep while writing this book?

this book has more than one genre?
    No, it’s a contemporary romance.

    you love to read?

Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Katy Eeten, author of A Heart Held Captive, a contemporary Christian romance. This is a game with yes and no questions. A Heart Held Captive by Katy Eeten

    Genre: Christian romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
Physical therapist Cole Pearson has had his share of shallow relationships. But a year spent soul-searching opened his eyes to what he really wants in life. When he learns that ER nurse Emily Jenkins has volunteered to pay for a foster child’s therapy, he is instantly drawn to her generous spirit. If only he can convince her to take things beyond their casual conversations at the clinic.
Emily is a prisoner to her past mistakes and insists on paying a price God never asked her to pay. When she finally allows herself to grow closer to Cole, her faulty theology is shattered and her wounded heart begins to mend. But when tragedy strikes, Emily is sent into a tailspin. Can Cole help her grasp the freedom of God’s grace, or will she revert back to the captivity of her old ways and shut Cole out of her life for good?

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?
No. I published two other Christian romances last year – Blast from Her Past and a novella called Christmas in Meadow Creek.
this book is part of a series?
    No.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Maybe a little. My first round of edits was pretty extensive, and I had a super short deadline from my editor. But I made it!
you did research for this book?
A little. Just minor things like how long of a drive between two cities and what type of injury would require physical therapy.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
No. All humans other than the mention of an elderly neighbor’s dog.
this book has more than one genre?
    Nope. It’s a straight-up contemporary Christian romance.
you speak more than one language?
No. Unless you count my four years of high school Spanish, which allows me to catch a few words and phrases here and there.
you grew up where you live now?
Yes. After fifteen years living elsewhere, I returned to my hometown a couple summers ago.
    you love to read?
Yes, though I don’t have time to do it as much as I’d like to.
    you are never late?
Well … Overall, I’m fairly punctual. But having two kids and so much going on in life makes me two to five minutes late wherever I go. Not bad, I guess.
    you love pizza?
Absolutely! We have it weekly at our house.
    you love sushi?
Never tried it, but never want to!
    you have a pet?

Is It True: December Heat Wave by Joanie MacNeil @JoanieMacneil #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomanceWelcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Joanie MacNeil author of December Heat Wave, a contemporary romance. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

December Heat Wave by Joanie MacNeil

    Genre: Contemporary Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Following the death of her husband, Nicolette Oliver concentrates on re-establishing her career as a dancer, though still dealing with emotional issues relating to her life with Mark. When his friend appears on her doorstep, Nicolette honors her late husband’s invitation and invites Jake to stay.
Jake Harrigan has always been attracted to Nic and sees her as untouchable, even though she is now on her own. They are opposites, their lives and expectations literally worlds apart. Drawn into a romantic interlude, the parting is difficult when Jake returns to Europe to resume his career as TV news journalist and Nic moves to Sydney to begin rehearsals for the show that will resurrect her career.
Jake returns to Australia to see Nic again and also to finalize details with his network to sail around the world making documentaries. Will Jake follow his heart and ask Nic to give up all that she’s worked for and sail away with him?

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?
No, though I wrote this book early in my career.
this book is part of a series?
    No.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Yes, probably. I tend to lose sleep whenever I’m writing a book.
you did research for this book?
Some. I’d briefly visited the area where I set the story, though had to do a little more research for the setting.
My hero’s career as a photo journalist was inspired by watching TV news and articles I’d read.
My heroine was inspired by a dance performance I watched. I just had to write my heroine as a dancer resurrecting her career following a personal tragedy. I also based the visuals for the lead male dancer on one I’d seen in the show. Fantastic performances and I wish I still had the DVD.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
All characters are human. No pets.
this book has more than one genre?
    Strictly contemporary romance
you speak more than one language?
I did learn German so long ago that I’ve forgotten most of it, and I was never a fluent speaker of the language
you grew up where you live now?
At seventeen, I left home to live in Brisbane which was over an hour away by train in those days. Living in the city meant I could walk to work in ten minutes, so much easier than the two hour plus train travel, and waiting to catch a bus home from the station, especially on cold winter nights. Then at twenty, I moved interstate and have lived in the same city since then, except for about five years where I lived in a little country town. A new experience, but again, a considerable commute each day, this time by car. I thought it ironic that I began my working career with a long daily bus and train journey and ended that career with at least two hour drive each day, and the same early mornings. Exhausting.
    you love to read?
Yes. As well as romance I love to read Icelandic Noir. I’m a fan of Ragnar Jónasson’s novels.
    you are never late?
I endeavour not to be late. I dislike being late when people are depending on me to keep an appointment on time, and vice versa.
    you love pizza?
Yes, but it doesn’t like me. I have an intolerance to all grains so pizza is a no-no for me.
    you love sushi?
I have tasted sushi in the past, some nice, some not so good. Now it is a no-no for me because of the rice. I was never a big fan of sushi anyway.
    you have a pet?
No. With one Veteran husband, three adult children and their partners, one adult stepson, and four young grandsons, who needs pets?

you did research for this book?
Yes. My heroine is a culinary arts student so I researched schools and different majors. I also did research on yoga poses for a scene with Vicky and Vinnie where she catches him doing yoga. It’s a funny scene where they both end up tangled on the floor together.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
Hope has a white cate named Lucky. Even though Vinnie doesn’t like cats, Lucky takes an immediate liking to him.
this book has more than one genre?
It’s a Contemporary Romance with a touch of romantic comedy.

you grew up where you live now?
I live in the same state where I grew up, but not the same town.
    you love to read?
