    QUICK

    What’s your favorite book?

There’s probably a different answer for this on every different day. Today I’m gonna say a series rather than just one book. The Sigma Force series by James Rollins. I’m in the mood for some thrilling adventure

What’s a genre you want to write?

I would love to write those thrillers like James Rollins or Dan Brown, but my mind doesn’t necessarily work that way. I do love reading them though!

Best writing advice you ever heard?

Just puke it out. You can’t fix a blank page.

What’s the title and genre of your first book, and where can we find it?

My first book was Makin’ History, part of both the Heart of a Wounded Hero series and my Turquoise Creek Ranch series. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3YZ6PYN

    Easy

Coffee or tea? Neither. My caffeine choice is Diet Pepsi

Sit down dinner or drive through? Sit down dinner—unless I’m craving a hamburger

Fold laundry immediately or let it sit? Hanging clothes are done immediately, the other stuff sits

Unload dishwasher right away or use dishes from it? Usually use dishes from the dishwasher

Driving for pleasure or avoid driving anywhere? I don’t mind not in the city driving although I will take any chance I can get to sit in the passenger seat. Especially in the city

    Talk or text? Text!

Emoji or smilie? Eh, either one. I use too many anyway.

    this is your first book?

Yes and no. This is the first LizAnne Axtel book, but her alter ego has written many more.

this book is part of a series?

Yes—actually two series! Heart of a Wounded Hero and Turquoise Creek Ranch

you lost sleep while writing this book?

    Nope.

you did research for this book?

    Yes. Indian motorcycles, amputees, PTSD.

    Yes, contemporary, romance, instalove,

you speak more than one language?

No. I did take 4 years of German in high school though.

you grew up where you live now?

No. But only a couple hours away. Came to college and stayed.

    you love to read?

Well, yeah. Unfortunately, writing cuts into my reading time. :)

    you are never late?

Yes. I’m pretty much always a bit early. I hate being late. I’ve been known to not go somewhere if I’m late.

    you love pizza?

Yes. And I love pineapple on my pizza.

    you love sushi?

    That’s a hard NO!

    you have a pet?

Kinda. I share a home with my siblings and they have an elderly tuxedo cat named Goku and an even older and gray muzzled mini doxie named Lessa.

What Sky Wheeler eats for dinner, from Makin’ Merry by LizAnne Axtel @LizAnneAxtell #RLFblog #Contemporary #HolidayRomance

A very cold, snow covered Santa—with puppies— knocks on Kasey’s door in LizAnne Axtell’s holiday short, sweet, and steamy romance. Maybe Christmas won’t be so bad after all .

LizAnne, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

    Makin’ Merry by LizAnne Axtel

What Sky Wheeler eats for dinner, from Makin' Merry by LizAnne Axtel @LizAnneAxtell #RLFblog #Contemporary #HolidayRomanceGenre Contemporary Instalove

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Sky Wheeler doesn’t have a family of his own, so he has no problem playing Santa for the Turquoise Creek Ranch kids. Until a sudden snowstorm and broken down pickup leave him stranded in the middle of ranch country with no cell connection and a pair of starving foundling puppies. The house he passed a half mile back might be his only refuge from the cold.

Alone and struggling to keep her family’s ranch after her divorce, Kasey Powers knows she can’t provide the kind of Christmas she’d hoped for her two kids. There’s only a handful of gifts under the tree and very little to fill the stockings hung on the mantle. She’s gotten used to making do, and she’ll stay up all night creating homemade gifts if that’s what it takes to put smiles on her kids’ faces.

Then a very cold, snow covered, grouchy Santa knocks on her door.

Let’s chat about what to eat

First, what is your name and how old are you?

Sky Wheeler. And I’m old enough to know better.

If any, what food do you refuse to eat?

Anything that lays on the plate and looks at me. Love me some fried fish, but not if the head’s still on.

Tell us about a meal or food that says “home” to you.

A meal that says home? Any meal shared with someone you love, with family. Home isn’t the place. Home’s the people. It could be a fancy holiday meal, or just a bowl of tomato soup, as long as I’m with my people, it’s home.

What is the worst meal you’ve ever eaten?

Went on a blind date once and ended up with whole shrimps on my plate. And by whole, I mean they still had their heads on. It’s the eye thing. Had no idea shrimp were so judgmental. But, so was my date. About everything. Never saw her again. And I’ve never gone on another blind date.

Growing up, who was the best cook in your family?

Me. But that’s not saying much. Both of my folks worked, so I made a lot of suppers for my younger brother and sister and me. Easy stuff like Mac and cheese or spaghetti. It was edible and filling, but not anything you’d find in a cookbook or restaurant. Utilitarian cooking.

If you cook, what kind of food do you like to prepare?

Any meals I cook are still at that utilitarian skill level. Mom did give me a cookbook when I moved out, and I’ve tried a few recipes, but I don’t enjoy cleaning up the mess I always make, or the not having a clue if it’s going to turn out edible or not. I haven’t messed up that boxed Mac and cheese. Yet.

Do you skip breakfast or is eating that a must-do for you?

I work on a ranch and that’s a hard, physical job, so breakfast is a must. And more than just a bowl of cereal, although that’s my go to if I’m running late. Usually I’ll have eggs with bacon or sausages. Toast. Leftovers from the night before. Anything filling to get me going.

Do you keep snacks on hand, and if so, what are they?

Not much of a snacker although I do carry jerky while I’m working in case I need some energy. Although… now that I think about it, I do have a hard time staying away from fresh baked cookies. Oatmeal raisin’s my favorite. With peanut butter a close second. Probably a good thing I can’t cook—or bake. Too many cookies and my horse would be giving me the side-eye.

How much coffee or tea do you drink?

Way too much coffee. Just plain. No fancy stuff.

    Favorite alcoholic beverage?

An icy cold beer after a long day.

What do you grab when there’s no time for a regular meal?

Jerky, like I said before. Or a sandwich. I grew up with white bread and Miracle Whip, so that’s my go to with whatever meat and cheese that’s available.

Who are your favorite people to share meals with?

Family. Meals when the Turquoise Creek Ranch employees gather—because we’re just one big family—are raucous and filled with caring and friendship. But now that I’ve got my own little family, that’s where I want to be. The woman and kids I love. Because that’s when I’m home.

Tell us what your author eats or drinks while writing about you.

This is an easy one because LizAnne is consistent with her writing snacks. Chocolate—preferably milk chocolate with nothing in it—and Diet Pepsi.

Know the Hero from Makin' Amends by LizAnne Axtel @lizanneaxtel #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomanceIt’s a fresh start for Brody in LizAnne Axtel’s new steamy short, Makin Amends. But how can he make amends to his beautiful coworker when he doesn’t know what he did wrong?

LizAnne, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us about Makin’ Amends.

    Makin’ Amends by LizAnne Axtel

    Genre Contemporary

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Waking one morning with no clue where he is, or who he’s been with, Brody Morris realizes his life is a total mess. He’s been riding a downward spiral since his discharge from the service and now he’s hit rock bottom. Only one hope remains—the support of a friend. Brody arrives at Turquoise Creek Ranch a broken but determined man.

Working with horses is Meghan Hill’s dream job and she won’t do anything to jeopardize her position at Turquoise Creek Ranch. When the new hire doesn’t remember her, or their spectacular night together after the boss’s wedding, she’s determined to keep her distance.

Until the day he discovers her vomiting behind a hay bale and everything changes.

Know the Hero from Makin’ Amends

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

In the past Brody would hit the bars and find a willing woman. Now? Streaming a movie or researching an interesting topic fill his time. When the boredom pushes him toward his old lifestyle, he uses calming visualizations to remain centered.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

A huge sub sandwich—usually roast beef and cheese, but definitely dripping with extra mayo, pickles and jalapeños. If there’s horseradish sauce, he’s in heaven.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

Jeans and a tee shirt. Luckily he doesn’t have to change his style for his new job at Turquoise Creek Ranch. But when working with horses, he’s going to have to exchange his athletic shoes for boots!

Does he know how to fix things?

He can jury-rig things together with the best of them—a skill he perfected in the service. But really fixing something properly? Not so much.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

He’s never had much experience around kids, so he’s leery at first. But once he gets to know them, he’s more comfortable.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

DO NOT talk to this man until he’s had coffee!

    Can he use chopsticks?

Not so well. Doesn’t care for Chinese food, so considers chopsticks pretentious.

Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?

See above. :) He likes his coffee black and on the bitter side. When the occasion calls for a ‘damn fancy coffee’, he’ll choose espresso and complain the cup is too small.

What apps would he have on his phone?

He’s not a gamer, so there’s only a simple solitaire game. Some messaging apps (because of course everyone has to use something different), apps from food places he doesn’t go to anymore, movie streaming services. Every so often he looks through the apps and decides he needs to delete some, but never really gets around actually pushing the button.

    Android or iPhone?

    Android.

    Beard or clean-shaven?

Keeps his beard close cut. The scruffy look works for him. He has in the past, however, shaved his head.

    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?

Nope. He has scars. That’s enough decoration for him.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

Personal vehicle. A somewhat junky sedan gets him where he needs to go.

    Recycle or toss?

Recycle. The world is in enough trouble without adding more to the garbage dumps. Recycling gives Brody a sense of satisfaction reminiscent of when he was overseas. It’s just saving the world in another way.

Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!
