    MFRW: Follow Your Passion @AuthorTinaGayle #RLFblog #MFRWauthor

    Summer’s Growth

Today, author Tina Gayle takes over the blog with a tip for following your passion as a writer.
    ===

Follow Your Passion with the Help of MFRW

You can’t buy it…you can’t get it from someone else–It is
    right there within you.
My passion to be a published author has taken me on a wild ride.
The up and down adventure has required perseverance and tenacity. I’ve had to sit
in the chair and write, deal with situations that I’d never imagined, encountered
a number of “Oh Shit moments” and had more fun than I could have ever
    believed possible.

With no agent, spelling challenged, and an aversion to commas,
my love of a good story kept me going. I took writing classes, networked with other
writers and put myself where I needed to be to hone my skills. My rose colored glasses
wouldn’t let me see what others said were insurmountable obstacles.
Also along the way, I found promoting my book to be a challenge.
That is one of the reasons I love Marketing for Romance Writers. The group is very
supportive and helps me discover new ways to market my book.
This summer they are also offering a free summer camp to not
only help me learn about new promotion sites, but to also help me be a better writer.
What more can you ask for?
No matter which road you travel remember to follow your passion
and discover a new world of adventure.
    — Tina Gayle

    Summer’s Growth

A mainstream novel with romantic and paranormal elements about
    two women.
Mattie Winston, an almost fifty recluse who lives on a lonely
estate and guards generations of family spirits, and a young college student, Amber
Harrison, who doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life. The Winston spirits
decided that Mattie needs to develop a life outside the estate and Amber is going
to be the new family keeper, which throws the two together.
Both travel down different paths of self-discovery but their
reliance on each other grows stronger after several scary moments. Mattie, challenged
by an old flame, rethinks the idea of love. Amber, faced with the appearance of
her distant grandmother’s ghost, decides to solve the mystery of why her grandmother
disappeared without a trace. By the end of the book, after love is embraced and
family secrets are revealed, Mattie and Amber are both ready to meet their futures
with enthusiasm as stronger more self-confident people.

    Barnes and Noble: http://barnesandnoble.com/w/dangerous-temptation-catrina-barton/1114998648?ean=2940033296545
What are your main characters’ names, ages, and occupations?
Kaitlin Sincair, 17 Graduating high school. Cadmon Quinn 23 leader
    of his people.

    Interview

Which character in your current book do you think readers will like the most?
    Kaitlin
    Why?
She’s a teenager who lost both parents and tries to make the
best of her horrible situations. She’s also ready to start her first big adventure.
    Why do you write?
Because it’s as necessary as breathing. I’m not happy unless
    I’m writing.
    When you write, what things
do you want close at hand? (Coffee, water, chocolate… pictures of gorgeous hunks
    for inspiration…?)
A nice steamy cup of green tea {preferably with mango and sweetened
with honey} and some music to set the mood I’m trying to create.
    When you’re not writing,
what would we find you doing?
Amatuer belly dancing, teaching Kung Fu, or hiking with my family.
    When an idea hits you,
what do you do to capture it?
Pull out my notebook and penand jot it down, or boot up my lap
    top and type it down.
    What other jobs have you
    held besides writing?
Waitressing as a teen, cashier, cook, house cleaning, care taking,
teaching Kung Fu, yard work, editing, stocking, fast food.
    What’s the best gift you
    ever received?
    True friendship and true love.
    If you could time travel
what era would be your first stop?
Back to the days of the Native Americans. I’d love to live off
the land and not worry about money. :P
    What’s your favorite movie?
Depends. Are we talking romance, action, comedy? Romance is Princess
Bride or Ruyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. Action is Gone in Sixty Seconds with Nicholas
Cage. Comedy is Mrs Doubtfire with Robin Williams.
    Are you the eldest, middle,
    baby, or only child?
    Eldest of four.

    Please complete the sentence

I love pizza with tomatoes, extra cheese, and lots of meat.
I’m always ready to turn on the music, when my speakers cooperate.
When I’m alone, I do a lot of deep thinking. Not always a
good thing, but it keeps me realistic.
If I had a halo it would be a blinding mix of white and yellow.
If I could change anything I’d leave it alone, because
every trial we overcome makes us stronger and shapes us into who we were meant to
    be.
I can never change the past because any changes made
    would reflect on the future.

Character Interview: Norwegian Goddess @stbende #RLFblog

    Elsker
ST Bende, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. We’re excited to
interview your character, Inga Jensson Andersson, from your book, Elsker, The Elsker
    Saga.
    Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance
    Publisher: Entranced Publishing, Blush imprint
    Length: 61,000 words
    Blurb:
Kristia Tostenson prefers Earl Grey to Grey Goose and book clubs
to nightclubs, but when she transfers from her one-stoplight town to Cardiff University
    in Wales
she falls in love with Ull Myhr. Her new boyfriend isn’t exactly what she was expecting.
He’s an honest-to-goodness Norse God — an immortal assassin fated to die at Ragnarok,
the battle destined to destroy Asgard and Earth. Kristia’s crazy visions are the
only thing that can save their realms.
Her orderly life just got very messy.

What are your main characters’ names, ages,
    and occupations?
Kristia Tostenson, 20 years old, college student.
Ull Myhr, ancient (but looks 23), Norse God of Winter.
Former Asgardian Assassin, moonlighting as a grad student.
Gunnar Andersson and Inga Jensson Andersson, also Norse gods
moonlighting as grad students. Despite her actual age, Inga swears she’s not a
    day over 21.

Interview with Norse goddess Inga Jensson Andersson

    Tell us about yourself.
First of all, Kayelle, I have to tell you that scarf looks
fab on you. Totally compliments your eyes. Now, what was the question?
    Tell us about yourself.
Oh, right. I’m a pretty normal goddess. I love baking,
decorating, and fencing. Now that I’m on extended vacation in your realm, I’ve
gotten hooked on IndyCar racing, too. My girl Katherine Legge isn’t competing
this year, so I’ve shifted all my loyalties onto that cutie pie, Ryan
    Hunter-Reay. *waggles fingers* Hi Ryan.
What else? I’ve been married to my childhood sweetheart,
Gunnar, for practically forever, and I’m totally head over heels for him. We
spend most of our time with our best friend, Ull, and when I’m not taking care
of those two I’m experimenting in the kitchen.
    Tell us about Ull.
Ull is… well, he’s Ull. The tall, blonde and handsome god
all the girls swoon over, both back home and here in Midgard. Commanding voice,
piercing blue eyes, crazy arm muscles, the whole deal. But he’s impossibly
stubborn, ridiculously sensitive, insanely bossy, and all together frustrating.
Though I will say he’s great about wearing the clothes I pick out for him. I
just picked up this cream cashmere sweater that’s going to look soooo good with
    his tan.
What do you think is your strongest point?
My baking, naturally. Though it should be noted my eyebrow
    maintenance is unparalleled.
What was it like where you grew up?
    Asgard’s gorgeous. Big rolling
meadows, lots of wildflowers, a willow tree with
actual silver leaves. Crystal blue ponds, the palace… you should visit
sometime. Spring’s best, the daffodils are blooming and they bring so much
    color!
What do you wish was different about your
    life?
Well, the whole Ragnarok prophecy kind of stinks. We’re all
fated to die at this epic battle in the not-too-distant future. So if I could
change one thing, I’d un-mark myself for death. But other than that, I’ve got a
pretty sweet deal. I’m married to a total dreamboat, we’re on an extended
vacation with our best friend in one of the prettiest realms, and now that we’re
here I can buy stuff without leaving my couch. Your whole Internet shopping
    thing is fantastic!
If you were given your fondest wish, what would
    it be?
That’s easy. I wish Ull would meet the perfect girl and
settle down. He’s been alone forever, and I know it’s hard for him. I really
    want him to be happy.
Also, I wish Ull’s grandma would give me her Norwegian
Waffle recipe. She is ridiculously stingy with that thing, and it’s so not
fair. A recipe that good is meant to be shared.**
Describe a place of perfect refuge.
My kitchen. Without any boys in it. Ull is notorious for
mutilating my high-end kitchenware. No, buddy, my new Shun Santoku is NOT what
you should be using to open that parcel…
As a child, who was your best friend? Tell
    us about him/her.
Gunnar and I have been best friends since our first day of
primary. I schooled him in fencing, and he’s spent the rest of his life trying
to get back at me. I’m proud to say he has never, ever, outmaneuvered me in any
sword fight of any kind. Broad sword, rapier and dagger, you name it, I own him
in it. But he’s good with it. Gunnar’s got a seriously naughty sense of humor,
and a heart of gold. He’s one of Asgard’s top assassins, and he’s ranked #3 in
total kills, behind Ull and Thor. My husband is awesome.
**Don’t tell Inga, but ST Bende does share the famous
Norwegian Waffle recipe at the end of ELSKER!

    About the Author

Before finding domestic bliss in suburbia, ST Bende lived in
Manhattan Beach (became overly fond of Peet’s Coffee)

    Excerpt:
The rush of a sudden, fierce wind
outside drew her to a window to watch the shrubs and palm trees flapping wildly.
Sand blew over the pavement and splattered against walls and trees. Dead leaves,
loose papers, and other debris danced in the air. A livid, purple-tinged darkness
turned the day grotesque. Tendrils of indigo-shaded power floated along with the
    dark storm clouds.
A flash of lightning seared its way
from sky to ground just beyond a row of houses across the street, followed closely
by a crack of thunder that rattled the windows.
A man and woman hurried three small
children along the boardwalk that led over the dune from the beach to the street.
They toted coolers, bags, boogie boards, and buckets. The youngest trailed a towel
flapping behind him in the wind. More lightning zig-zagged from sky to ground, not
far away. Ilene sucked in a sharp breath.
The father looked up and flinched.
Fear tightened his muscles as he dropped a cooler and turned around to snatch up
the straggling toddler. His voice carried over the rushing wind. “Get to the
    van. Quick!”
He nodded toward a vehicle parked
down the street. His wife and two older children raced on ahead.
    Ilene’s hands clenched into fists.
Too much energy crackled in the air. It wasn’t directed at the family, but that
didn’t guarantee they wouldn’t get hurt by it. Collateral damage. Some of the more
ruthless mages cared little for who else was affected by their activities.
Two flashes hit nearby, one right
after the other. The child let out a frightened wail as his father, bent low over
him, dashed off the wooden walkway and down the street. Even they could sense the
    danger building.
Ilene couldn’t trust their fate to
chance. She roused her own power, feeling for charged particles in the area. Gathering
them in, she rolled and pushed them into position, building a lattice of force around
the family. It wouldn’t keep out the wind or the rain–she could have done that
with air, too, if she’d had time–but it should keep the lightning from reaching
them. For the moment, that mattered most.
Even at a distance, the rush of oppositely
charged particles prickled in her brain. The growing polarization signaled an impending
    strike.
What formed out there made her gut
clench in fear. It was so close to the father and child the hair on their bodies
must have been standing on end. The man looked around wildly, searching for shelter.
The panic in his eyes radiated across the fifty feet or so that separated them.
Would her barrier be enough to protect
them? The ground charge was forming so close it could jump right through it if she’d
left even a small opening. Ilene reached out toward the building charge differential.
Playing with lightning was tricky business. Choosing her positions carefully, she
pushed in various weak spots to move the polarizing field.
It sucked a lot of energy out of her
to divert its course. Her ribs and head ached as she herded protons in a subatomic
cattle drive to get the charge well away from the family. Those minuscule bits of
potential energy were every bit as ornery and uncooperative as cows were reputed
    to be.
Even as the bolt formed, she didn’t
know if she’d succeeded. Her breath stopped in her throat for a long, long moment
    as she waited.
The streak of lightning followed the
diverted path to the beach, a safe distance away.
The man ran to the van, getting there
just moments behind his wife and older children. He pushed the toddler into the
back seat and ran around to the other side, while his wife slammed the rear door
and got into the front. Ilene didn’t let out the breath she held until they were
all safely inside the vehicle. She released the protective field. The van’s headlights
flicked on and moments later it chugged off down the street.
More lightning singed the sky. An
inflatable ring rolled down the street like a runaway tire. Ilene shuddered, though
it wasn’t entirely the weather that set it off. The storm was a natural thing, but
    someone–a powerful wizard–was using it.
Using it to attack. The island or
the house or its occupants. Brilliant, livid streaks of orange and red mixed with
violet and deep blue swirls riding with the clouds. The smells of ammonia and ozone
    and peppers burned her nostrils.
    Lightning flashed brighter and closer.
    Dangerously closer.
The grumble of thunder grew almost
constant. The rushing downpour of rain added to the chaos and noise. Driven by the
wind to blow almost horizontally, it splattered against the window in big drops
that spread out, then slid down the glass like groping hands trying to claw their
    way in.
Something was out there. The swirls
of lividly hued power grew deeper and more intense. It rode on the storm in frightening
    concentrations. Why here, though?

    Interview

What is the most important thing you do for your career now,
as compared to when you first started writing?
I used to treat my writing career as a solitary endeavor, but
now I’ve realized the importance and necessity of forming bonds with other writers.
Many of you have become friends, and certainly my best supporters in addition to
    readers J
If you could change something about your first book, what
    would it be?
Actually, I’m planning to make those changes very soon – edit,
cut, and improve the pacing of the story to re-release it.
If you could choose anyone to be your mentor who would it
    be?
Oprah Winfrey. Her touch is golden, and she sponsors success
    by removing barriers.
If you could give the younger version of yourself advice what
    would it be?
Less school, more travel, marry a man who adds positive energy
to your life, do whatever it takes to stay healthy, and don’t ever return to your
    hometown for more than visits.
How do you cope with stress as an author?
Keep a writing and blogging schedule, calendar and to-do list,
and don’t procrastinate. Try to minimize online time to one or two hours a day on
    average.
Do things your family or friends do ever end up in a book?
Never as a composite. I like to mix and match the pieces. LOL
What are some jobs you’ve done before (or while) you were
    a writer?
Piano & Voice instructor, band director, choir director,
mental health therapist, substance abuse counselor, senior high school counselor,
college/career counselor, minister of music, algebra & statistics tutor, educational
    consultant.
    What message do you want
people to take from your books?
That all life is sacred and valuable, and love truly is worth
    risking everything for.
What good book have you read recently?
I’ve read so many, but one that really stands out is “The Mark
    of Cain” by A.D. Seeley
What do you like to do when you’re bored?
I’m never bored because there’s always a good book to read or
write. I can’t get to them all fast enough! LOL
Please underline which statement is more like you:
“I am a vacation spa because I am laid back and relaxed.”
    “I am a ten-countries in ten-days tour vacation, because
I do things as fast as possible.”

    Please complete the sentences

I love pizza with roasted veggies and chicken.
I’m always ready for a great book.
When I’m alone, I take a long shower and pamper myself.
You’d never be able to tell, but I have a terrible temper.
If I had a halo it would be golden
    and full of irridescent light.
If I could write without stopping to take care of other things
I’d have 12 published books by now.
I can never seem to get my stories written fast enough
because life keeps slowing me down.

    Interview

    What do you enjoy most
    about writing?
I love the freedom it offers. I can become anyone I want to be
within my characters. Writing also gives me the opportunity to vent some of my frustrations
on my characters especially the nastier ones. When my father died, I used that experience
within one of my Demon Witch books. I killed off two very important characters and
made my heroine go through the emotions as I did. It was a very cathartic experience.
    If you could give the
younger version of yourself advice what would it be?
Don’t give up. Never ever give up. I wish I’d been around to
offer this advice because for many years I did give up and I regret it deeply but
I’m back now writing with passion.
    What is your work ethic
    when it comes to writing?
I have to write every single day or the voices in my head start
to take over. I know it sounds daft but writing helps to dilute the ideas. I don’t
always get to choose when I write although late night tends to work better for me.
    Do things your family
or friends do ever end up in a book?
I have a wonderful friend who was having a bad time with her
brother and she asked if I could include him in a book. He became a newly made vampire
who came to a very sticky end. She loved it!
I was asked a few weeks ago by a family member if I used family
as characters. Of course, I said no.
    What are some jobs you’ve
done before (or while) you were a writer?
I have been a Customer Services Advisor, an administrator for
a book club. I’ve run my own playgroup, summer playscheme and afterschool club.
I spent five years working in a school nursery and three miserable weeks in a hair
    salon.
    Which of your books would
you recommend to someone who doesn’t normally read your genre, and why?
I would recommend trying the Demon Witch series starring Luca,
a half -demon blooded Coven Witch. The books contain romance, passion and danger-
not necessarily in that order. I’m totally biased but I love every character in
this series – I have fifteen books written with number four about to be epublished.
    The Dark of Demon
    What kind of books do
you read when taking a break from your own writing?
I tend to read just about anything from historical novels to
paranormal romances. I’m not very fond of chick lit although I’ve been assured I’m
missing out. I love Stephen King and J R Ward. I really wish I’d thought of the
Black Dagger Brotherhood. What awesome heroes!
    What was the proudest
moment of your life so far?
I have a few but the most recent was watching my eldest daughter
receive her degree from her university. I was the typical mother with tears streaming
down my face. She had chosen a difficult path in life it she was determined to get
her degree and, although it took longer than we’d all hoped, I was so proud to witness
    her achieve her dream.
    What is your favorite
    holiday and why?
Every summer four of us travel around England. We love history and ancient
places and there’s so much to see here. The weather isn’t always reliable but we
make the most of it. We love to stay in castles and old coaching inns especially
if we’re on a ghost hunting trip.
    What good book have you
    read recently?
    I’ve just re-read J R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series
in anticipation of the release of Lover At Last.
    Where were you at midnight,
on December 31st when the new century started?
That’s easy. I was with my husband at my best friend’s house.
There was just the four of us, listening to Big Ben chime and watching the fireworks
over the Thames on the TV. We always spend New
    Year’s Eve together, it’s a standing tradition.
What do you like to do
    when you’re bored?
I like to create. I knit, sew, crochet, embroider and take cool
    photos. I don’t cook… please don’t ask me to cook – you’ll regret it.
If you were a color, what
    color would you be?
    Definitely a shade of purple.
    Please underline which
    statement is more like you:
“I am a vacation spa because I am laid back and relaxed.”
    “I am a ten-countries in ten-days tour vacation, because
I do things as fast as possible.”

    Please complete the sentences

I love pizza with other people so they can eat it. Pizza…yukkkk
I’m always ready for another story.
    When I’m alone, I’m content.
You’d never be able to tell, but I talk to dead people.
If I had a halo it would be too
    tight for comfort
    .
If I could be invisible I’d go check out the Queen.
I’d love to see how she spends her day
    .
I can never go into small places because I’m claustrophobic.
