A marriage of convenience in Nice Enough the new #SmallTownRomance by Ella Braeme #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance
Why not go for that marriage-of-convenience? This question is being answered in Nice Enough: How To Find A Husband In A Southern Small Town, the new open-door small-town novella by Ella Braeme.
Ella, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Nice Enough.
Nice Enough by Ella Braeme
Genre small-town romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): RShe thought it didn’t matter who she married. He begged to differ.
Her family never had a good standing in the small town Dawn lived in. When she finally had the chance to be seen, she had to get married quickly. No big deal, right? Nice enough and absolutely honest—those are Dawn’s only requirements for her spouse. So why not go for that marriage-of-convenience? Because after the nuptials she might find out, Joss is her Mr Right—and a liar, too. That’s why.
This novella has all the small-town feels, pesky neighbors and all. Whereas the love is sweet, the sizzle is hot, so 18+. No cliffhanger. No cheating. HEA guaranteed.
Why did you write this book?
This is my very first author interview, and its very first question is the one I hoped nobody would ever ask. I don’t know why I’ve written this particular book. The characters crept into my imagination and took roots there. Is that answer good enough?
I can tell you why I chose to write romance, though. There were times in my life that were very stressfull and romance was a welcome relief, a short time off the things that bothered me. Now I am in a position to give back. I hope that my book offers that mini-vacation to other readers out there.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love romance. Over the years I have read so many sub-genres of it and settled mostly on contemporary small-town romance. That’s not to say I wouldn’t enjoy a suspense or paranormal romance every now and then.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I’m still miffed there were no entwives in LOTR.
What are you working on at the moment?
Nice Enough is my first book and publishing it was a steep learning curve. So right now, I am on a well-deserved break. My husband treats me to a full week at the shore, and I guess I might start a new book as soon as I’m back at home.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
This is such a loaded question. As a first-time author, I don’t dare predict what you are going to see. So many things might go wrong. But if I have things my way, two of the side characters in Nice Enough will get their own happily-ever-afters. Still not ready to talk about it, though.

Discover secrets behind Fly Boy by Chloe Holiday @ridenour_robin #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance #SmallTownRomance
In Fly Boy, Chloe Holiday’s new romance, Tricia needs to liquidate assets to keep her late grandmother’s orchard out of foreclosure, but Travis—the guy who stood her up on prom night years ago—claims he had a handshake deal with Nana to buy the crop duster.
Chloe, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Fly Boy.
Fly Boy by Chloe Holiday
Genre Contemporary Romance/Small Town/Second Chance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Travis burned her once, but now Tricia must choose:
Flame him, or forgive and forget? Maybe he’s changed.
But … what if all the rumors are true?
Photographer Tricia Carlisle inherits her beloved grandmother’s orchard and leaves Chicago for her Texas roots, steeling herself to be immune to the charms of the small town—and those of Travis Walker, who stood her up on prom night seven years ago. Worse, she arrives only to find Nana’s place is in foreclosure. To have any hope of saving it, Tricia has no choice but to sell down assets—including her grandfather’s crop duster.
Travis Walker loses his last true friend when Nana Carlisle passes. Will his handshake deal to buy her crop duster survive now that Tricia is taking over? She’s cash-strapped and probably still hates his guts. He needs that plane—it’s his ticket out of this small town that sees him as a crook—but it’s on Tricia’s radar now.
Fly Boy is a steamy, stand-alone second-chance novella in the All-American Boy Series. It’s set in Deacon, Texas—home to sexy country boys and sassy, tough women. Warm, lazy afternoons in a hammock and swimming holes in a shady creek. Hot, heavenly Tex-Mex and even hotter kisses.
Come on down, y’all!
Tell us a secret!
Let us in on a few secrets about your book. We’d love to know more.
- The airport Travis is based out of, Deacon Intergalactic, is modeled after one of the tiny country airports I flew in and out of when training for my pilot’s license.
- The “secret language of dogs” which Travis explains to Tricia is based on an actual study of which dogs make a man seem family-oriented vs a rebel, which breed makes the woman seem more likely to agree to a one-night stand, etc. And the poodle, Bella, is named after a Bella owned by one of my friends.
- After writing about the pomegranates and figs in Tricia’s orchard, I bought a couple of my own. So next year, I can make my OWN Pomeritas! I did the same with lemons and cucumbers after writing my Helios series, which is set in Greece.
- I love goats! We had them growing up, and so it was fun to put a couple of babies into Tricia’s photo shoot—to Travis’ chagrin.
Fill us in on a quirk or background info about your main character that you might not have revealed in the book.
Raised by her grandmother, Tricia is determined to save the farm she inherits—even though the method she chooses will set her up for gossip and scandal in her hometown.
What quirk of your own is written into one of your characters?
Ha! I’m a decent cook, but the birthday cake fail in New Heights, where the heroine forgot to add an ingredient, is straight out of my kitchen. I’m still not allowed to make cornbread.
Without naming names, tell us about a character quirk that is patterned after someone you know.
The town gossip in Fly Boy, Beula Mae, is an amalgam of several people I’ve known, from growing up in a small Southern town.
A secret about you: What flaw makes you a better writer?
I’m a bit of a masochist—not the sort who wants physical pain, but I do tend to set myself challenges in writing: to make a sex scene that’s out of the ordinary, to write a Deaf character as a heroine, to give my tough guy heroes a softer quirk that would embarrass them if it got out.

Chloe is a military physician-turned-novelist who writes the things she loves to read: steamy, fun stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, smart women and men who aren’t jerks. About friendships, whether it’s close women or a good bromance. She wants all the feels: the thrill of a smoldering gaze or the barest brush of fingertips, the shocked gasp at the underhanded villain, the angst of heartbreak, the joy of reunion, and of course, happily ever after!
Chloe enjoys delivering a sneak peek into intriguing scenarios, drawing from her background (military personnel, medicine, aviation) as well as other cultures like Greece. It’s fun to live vicariously and go sailing, diving, or rock climbing. A bit of danger always gets her going, so many of her Romances have a suspense subplot.
She loves humor and embarrassing situations!
Chloe hates to read the same old thing, with only the names and places changed, so her goal is to bring folks a fresh, fun, NEW story every time, with NO CLIFFHANGERS!
More than anything, she wants to craft a rollicking, great story readers can’t put down, one where love prevails in the end, one that will whisk people away from their own tribulations.

Strong Enough in the Masonville Series
Genre Contemporary Small Town Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Charlotte Saunders has a full life—a rewarding career as a nurse, meaningful volunteer work at a dog shelter, and family, friends and pets she adores. But no matter how hard she tries, she can’t forget the horrible event that’s haunted her for ten years.
A survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Damon Greyson now helps others who have suffered trauma. His experience and intuition alert him to trouble in Charlotte’s past, and he wants to help her, if only she’d let him.
As they work together to help veterans suffering from PTSD and neglected dogs needing loving homes, their feelings for each other deepen. But when the trauma from Charlotte’s past roars back to life, both are forced to confront their painful histories—or die trying.
Which book is this in the series?
Strong Enough is book 4 in the Masonville Small Town Romance series.
How many books do you plan for the series?
I always planned to do four books in this series so Strong Enough is the final book.
How many books are completed?
All four books are now completed.
What characters are the main stars in your series?
The series primarily centers around two families of siblings, the Saunders family and the Greyson family. The Saunders siblings, Garrett, Charlotte and Lauren, grew up on a farm just outside Masonville, North Dakota. When they were kids, the Greyson siblings, Ben, Damon and Blair, spent their summers at their grandparents’ farm just down the road from the Saunders farm. They became friends and spent many happy summer days together. Then everyone grew up and went their separate ways. But then, years later, they begin returning to Masonville to find the peace, security and sense of home they’ve missed.
What is the overall theme in this series?
The overall theme is overcoming adversity and trauma with the love and help of family, community and the person they love.
Please list the series titles below, in any order you prefer.
Child of Mine, book 1
To Heal a Heart, book 2
Unexpected, book 3
Strong Enough, book 4What did you like best about writing this series?
I learned so many things during the writing of this series. I learned about the plight of rescue animals, like dogs and horses, and the dedicated volunteers who help them. I researched and was able to highlight the horrific, long-lasting damage that sexual abuse inflicts on its victims. This series was a way for me to talk about issues that are important to me while still telling an engaging, entertaining love story.
