Why did you write this book?
I thought it would be fun to play with someone else’s money, plus I’d get to “experience” life through a character who has more wealth than he knows what to do with. Turns out, it’s harder to write about having that kind of money than you’d think. I had to stretch to imagine having a private jet on call or what it would be like to live in a palazzo in Venice.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Although I read a variety of genres, contemporary romance is my favorite.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I really like Mark Watney from The Martian (by Andy Weir). He’s emotionally strong and smart and resourceful. He never gives up, despite the overwhelming odds he faces. And he has a great sense of humor, which can usually help people get through the worst of times.
What are you working on at the moment?
I was recently diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, so my immediate focus isn’t on writing, but on completing chemo and my upcoming surgeries. That being said, when I feel well enough between treatments, I’m busy plotting out the next books in the Sebastian Billionaire series.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
As soon as I’m able, I’ll be working on more Sebastian Billionaire books – one for each of Nicolas’ siblings: Melissa, Brayden and Caden (they’re twins).Where to buy Stealing the Billionaire’s Heart

What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Homemade lasagna with a fresh salad and a side of warm, crusty bread fresh from the oven. Plus a slice of chocolate cake. In my opinion, no meal is complete without some kind of chocolate.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
I love almost any type Mexican food. It’s even better with a grande margarita and a side of chips and salsa (…and chocolate). Yum!
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I almost always read romances. I enjoy all forms of it, so I’m happy reading contemporary, paranormal, Viking, Highlander, whatever. If it’s not too dark and depressing, I’ll read it!
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
I want my settings and characters to grab my readers so I research everything unless I have firsthand knowledge of it. For example, in Stealing the Billionaire’s Heart, I’d been to Venice so I could write about the setting with no problem. But Nicolas is a billionaire so he’s going to be surrounded by the things that wealth can buy. When I was creating the setting of his grandmother, Claudia’s, apartment in a Venetian palace, I figured she’d probably have collected some artworks by famous painters. I did some research and found that some miniature portraits can be worth a LOT of money…which inspired the idea that his prior girlfriend had stolen a miniature. So when Lyra ends up with his grandmother’s earrings, he’s going to think she’s a thief, too.
If the hero of your latest book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for him?

Why did you write this book?
My other books are about every day, small town characters. I thought it would be fun to write something that put a “regular” woman into the world of untold wealth. How would you react if you suddenly didn’t have to worry about money? Would you stay the same or turn into a money-grabber?
What is your favorite genre to read?
I primarily read romance, but I enjoy all types of it. Time-travel, historical, sweet, Viking, Highlanders, erotic, billionaire – they’re all good!
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I really enjoyed the character of Mark Watney from The Martian. He had a great sense of humor that got him through the worst time I can imagine – being stranded alone on an inhospitable planet that’s basically trying to kill you.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on the prequel to Stealing the Billionaire’s Heart, which focuses on Nicolas’ parents and their lives as they were just beginning to accumulate their wealth. It will show him and his siblings as children.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
In addition to the prequel I just mentioned, I’m working on Nicolas’ sibling’s stories, plus I’ve partially written another romance about a country music star and the small town girl he’s been in love with since he was a teen. I was just diagnosed with early stage breast cancer last week, though, so these books might get pushed back a little while I undergo treatment.
