Bucket list of Pepper McKay from A Witch's Journey by Tena Stetler @TenaStetler #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance #MysteryLet’s meet Pepper McKay from A Witch’s Journey, a paranormal romance/mystery by Tena Stetler. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about A Witch’s Journey.

A Witch’s Journey by Tena Stetler

    Genre Paranormal Romance/Mystery

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Pepper McKay comes from a long line of powerful witches. Unfortunately, magic brings her nothing but trouble. She learned the love of wildlife rescue and rehab from her Aunt Ashling. After graduating from college, Pepper works for Salem Wildlife Sanctuary and lives from paycheck to paycheck until she inherits the McKay property in Lobster Cove. With the family land and resources, she dares to dream of starting her own wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center.

Lathen Quartz, a former Navy SEAL turned handyman maintains the enchanted McKay property for the McKay estate. But someone is trying to steal the McKay magic. Lathen offers to help Pepper achieve her life-long dream of building a wildlife center. During the long hours spent together on the project, their mutual attraction can’t be denied. But each harbors a deep, dark secret. Will they overcome their demons and give love a chance?

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Age: mid thirties

    Gender: Female

    Birthplace: East Coast

    Profession: Wildlife rehabilitator

    Ethnicity: Irish

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters):

Please provide a physical description of yourself.

My long red hair, wavy down to my waist gets tangled so badly sometimes, I consider cutting it real short. I always reconsider, tame my tresses in a braid, and feel better.

Creamy complexion is the curse of the Irish. I sunburn easily and my face freckles if I don’t use strong sunscreen.

Large emerald green eyes usually sparking with mischief have always been my best feature. Full kissable lips according to Lathen competes with my eyes. He also says I have way too much energy for one person, which accounts for my willowy build, being tall helps. Contrary to popular belief, my energy does run out. LOL My mom always thought my deep dimples and tinkling laugh set me apart from most.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I’m the only child of two college professors. Both powerful witches. I spent my summers with my Aunt Ashlin in Lobster Cove, Maine. She taught me all there was to know about wildlife rescue. I worked in Salem, Massachusetts for ten years with Gwen who ran the place, until the magic storm on the anniversary of the Salem Witch Trials. But that’s a tale for another time. When my Aunt passed on, she left me the McKay property in Lobster Cove. It was enchanted, you know. Lathen Quartz was the maintenance man for the property. He’s a former Navy SEAL. He helped me bring my dream of building a wildlife rescue and rehab to fruition.

Who is the significant other in your life? Lathen Quartz. He’s my best friend, soul mate and partner in Lobster Cove Wildlife Rescue and Rehab Center. I have to say he is swoon worthy with is muscular build, tousled surfer blond hair, bright aquamarine blue eyes and deeply tanned skin. He also has a great sense of humor.

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

What is your birth order? Only child.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

Didn’t play with many toys. I was always bringing home injuried creatures and nursing them back to health. Other than that, I come from a long line of powerful witches. I spent a lot of my time honing those skills. When you have a young child able to conjure witch fire, you require constant supervision.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

Pizza. Extra sauce, extra cheese and beef all around on a crispy crust.

Bucket list of Pepper McKay from A Witch's Journey by Tena Stetler @TenaStetler #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance #MysteryTell us about your best friend.

Gwen, she’s the owner of Salem Sanctuary. In Salem, MASS of course. We spend many a night with ailing creatures nursing them back to health of the ten years I spent at the Sanctuary. We are still very close, like family.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

Australia – It is the home of so many unusual creatures. Some of these animals can only be found in Australia. I’d love to visit Australia Zoo.

Hawaii – I’d love to stay in a cottage on the beach. Witness the sunrise, surf the warm waters then watch the sun set. Study the sea creatures around the islands. You know I have a degree in marine biology.

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

I can’t really think of any place I’ve been, and there haven’t been a lot, that I wouldn’t return.

Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?

Jacques Cousteau – Discuss his underwater investigations, discoveries and adventures.

Steve Irwin – I’d love to discuss wildlife conservation and his experiences. Along with that, I’d love to meet his family Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin chat about wildlife conservation, rescue and rehab.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

Politicians. They undermine the very fabric of all that is good and fair about this country. Don’t get me wrong, American is still the best country in the world, but we’ve taken a few wrong turns in recent years.

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?

I’d like to travel back to when my ancestors Aidan Duncan McKay and his wife Dusty McKay lived around 1693. I’ve love to visit with them, learn how the time period shaped them and their magic. There are a lot of misinformation swirling around about them, I’d like to clear up. They original built the cabin on the McKay property in Lobster Cover and wove love and magic throughout the land, as well as, the cabin. Of course through the years the cabin has been remodeled and built onto, but the original structure remains.

Read the new #PNR Lair by Tina Donahue @tinadonahue #RLFblog #ReverseHaremTina Donahue, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Lair.

    Lair by Tina Donahue

    Genre Erotic PNR reverse harem

Book heat level (based on movie ratings) R

A rogue reaper who lives by her rules. Three alpha Enforcers determined she obeys theirs.

Chantel never asked to be a reaper and she sure as hell isn’t taking the virtuous or young before their time. When it comes to dirtbags… that’s another story. Whether they’re ready or not, she has them on her radar for extermination. Rogue reaping suits her just fine.

Rydan, Kahl, and Huntir don’t see her crimes that way. As Enforcers tasked with keeping order in the para world, she’s set for reeducation in their lair. Their goal? To ensure her obedience to their commands while making her submissive to their carnal needs.

Yeah, right. They may be sexier than sin, but these bad boys won’t break her, ever. Bring on the interrogations, indoctrination, and other stuff, the more hardcore the better.

This is a battle of the sexes they’ll all win.

This is book one in The Enforcers series and can be enjoyed independently.

Publisher’s Note This dark, paranormal reverse harem romance is intended for adults only. It contains elements of danger, suspense, adventure, power exchange and sensual scenes. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes, I write in several sub-genres of romance, including contemporary, erotic, erotica, historical, romcom, sci-fi, paranormal, suspense, and thriller.

How do you come up with ideas?

Honestly, they just pop into my head like scenes from a movie. I could be driving, at the mall shopping, enjoying dinner and suddenly I’ll see a scene in my head and think ‘what if…’ That’s when the ideas start flowing, showing me what would happen to the characters if I tried things this way, or maybe that way. Sort of like the alternate endings in The Butterfly Effect.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Revisions. That’s when I catch mistakes I’ve might have made while composing. For example in Lair, I had stated what some of the guys’ powers were in the early chapters. When I got to a later chapter, they didn’t have one of the powers any longer. I thought ohmygod, that is sooo wrong! I had to fix it pronto or the story wouldn’t have made sense.

When did you write your first book?

When I was nine. I called it Dimples the Adventurous Flea about a flea that jumps from dog to dog to ‘see the world’. When he’s on a French poodle, he’s in France. An English bulldog puts him in London. An Irish setter in Ireland. You get the drift. I even illustrated it then made copies and sold it to my friends’ parents in the neighborhood. My first book tour!

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Lace

    Black or red? Red

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Smooth cotton

    Ocean or mountains? Mountains

City life or country life? Country life

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home

Dogs or cats? Cats – hands down.

Brenda Sparks author of Alpha Revealed, shares a #TechTip for passwords @brenda_sparks #RLFblogBrenda, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We want to hear your tech tip, but first, please tell us about Alpha Revealed.

    Alpha Revealed by Brenda Sparks

    Genre Paranormal Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Natasha Peterhoff is the luckiest vampire in the world. Having pined over the sexy, but aloof Vladimir Starikovich for centuries, her feelings are reciprocated when the pair are drawn to each other the night of her brother’s wedding. Unfortunately, the stark light of day dawns, and the couple parts ways.
Back in Siberia, Vlad is overcome by doubts. Not only will Natasha’s brother kill him, but his own past is reason enough to keep her away. He vows to do everything in his power to keep her safe, even it if means never seeing her again.
With so many reasons to stay apart, will the ties that bind be strong enough to pull them together?

    Tech Tip

Happy Father’s Day! Here is a tech tip that I hope everyone, not just fathers, will find useful. I know Vladimir, the hero in Alpha Revealed, would have appreciated hearing this tip, especially after his baby was born.

Many of us have video cameras attached to our Wi-Fi. Perhaps you have a video doorbell or security camera. Maybe you there is a baby monitor in your home with video capabilities. If you have any of these, you must be careful. Hackers are using these cameras to spy on homeowners. You’d be amazed what hackers can find out about you just by watching and listening in.

A strong password is the key to keep the hackers out of your life, whether it’s a website you frequent, your social media, or even the video camera in your home. Most everything we do now requires a password, and while it can be tricky to memorize a bunch of complicated passwords, it’s necessary to keep you and your family safe.

Here are some tips for creating a password:

Make it long — This is the most important factor. Make it at least 15 characters or more if possible.

Use a mix of characters — Use a combination of uppercase and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols.

Avoid common substitutions — Password crackers are hip to the usual substitutions. Whether you use DOORBELL or D00R8377, a brute force attacker can hack your account/device easily.

Don’t use sequential letters and/or numbers —For example, avoid ABCDEF or 456789, and do not use sequential keyboard paths either (like qwerty).

Long, complicated passwords can be difficult to memorize. Try stringing what seem like random words and numbers together then make a sentence to help you remember them. For example, if your password was Battery10horsescar, you might remember it by memorizing the sentence, A battery of 10 horses pulled the car.

Of course, you can also use an app to store your passwords, eliminating the need to memorize anything. Password manager apps can be downloaded onto your phone. Many will give you the ability to store passwords, as well as, user login info and credentials. Many will also sync the information across your desktop, mobile devices, and browsers. Some password manager apps can even allow you to share a login information with another person. These apps can be a time saver by storing all your information in one place. You don’t need to go hunting for a password, because it’s there at your fingertips with a press of a button.

Don’t make it easy for the hackers. Do whatever you must to keep you and your family safe. I know Vladimir would.

Know the Hero from Serendipity by Lisa Chalmers @LisaInk #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomanceLisa Chalmers, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us about Serendipity.

    Serendipity by Lisa Chalmers

    Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Spend an entire week alone in a private villa with a man I just met on an airport layover?

    Crazy?

    Yes.

    Worth it?

    Absolutely.

There was something about Cillian that drew me in from the moment he took the bar stool next to mine. That layover was nothing short of fate, and the fact we each have a plus one to two different weddings seems like Serendipity.

But what happens when the week ends? Can we each go back to separate lives on opposite coasts?

    Know the Hero from Serendipity

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

Check email/texts, find an old football game on somewhere to watch, digs through the cupboards for something to snack on.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

Something quick. Depending on what was nearby, likely just a burger.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

For work, he lives in suits. Dark colors. When he’s off, jeans, t-shirt, leather jacket.

Does he know how to fix things?

He does, he was brought up to be as independent as possible. But he’s also a workaholic and everything that implies, so unless he has the spare time or it’s an easy fix, he’d probably get someone he trusted to fix or help fix him so it takes less time.

He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Tried paddle boarding on vacation once. Wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing, too busy talking. It flipped over, he went flying and into the water. Best friend probably still has the video somewhere, but would never tell him that.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

Friendly. Willing to play, especially if it’s something sporty. Likes to make them smile.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

In search of coffee, not overly grumpy, already thinking about work and his to-do list for the day.

    Can he use chopsticks?

    He can.

Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?

Drinks it, loves it, inhales it, runs on it. Usually with cream, but he’ll drink it without.

What apps would he have on his phone?

Anything that helps keep him on task, calendars, reminders, emails; music, sports updates, photo and video apps.

    Android or iPhone?

    iPhone

    Beard or clean-shaven?

Mostly clean-shaven, when he’s off work for awhile, he’ll go unshaven for a few days, but not for super long.

    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?

Tattoo. He got it after making his first big deal as a way to celebrate. Just a small sun on his shoulder blade, easily hidden by shirts. A reminder that anything is possible under the sun.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

Depends on the situation. Back and forth to the airport, taxis, ubers. But he prefers to have a vehicle of his own so he can explore, or for business, spread his paperwork and phone out when he needs to.

    Recycle or toss?

    Recycle.

Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!

We want to know all about your Fiction Furbaby, but first, please tell us about Running Haunted — and the ghost.

    Running Haunted by Effrosyni Moschoudi

Genre paranormal romantic comedy (with a ghost!)

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G

Kelly ran a marathon… and wound up running a house. With a ghost in it.

Kelly Mellios is a stunning, athletic woman, who has learned–the hard way–to value herself. Having just finished her first marathon in the alluring Greek town of Nafplio, she bumps into Alex, a gorgeous widower with three underage children, who is desperately looking for a housekeeper.

The timing seems perfect, seeing that Kelly aches to start a new life, and Nafplio seems like the ideal place to settle down. She accepts the position on the spot, but little does she know that Alex’s house has an extra inhabitant that not even the family knows about…

The house is haunted by Alex’s late wife, who has unfinished business to tend to. By using the family pet, a quirky pug named Charlie, the ghost is able to communicate with Kelly and asks her for help. She claims she wants to ensure her loved ones are happy before she departs, but offers very little information about her plans.

Kelly freaks out at first, but gradually finds herself itching to help. It is evident there’s room for improvement in this family… Plus, her growing attraction towards Alex is overpowering.

Will Kelly do as the ghost bids? How will it affect her? And just how strange is this pug?

“Another charming book from Effrosyni. Read it, and you’ll be transported to Greece & never look at a dog the same way again!” ~Just Me.Mo, Amazon UK reviewer

“A fast-paced original story with attention to detail and engaging dialog. A heartfelt emotional read, with family love, romance and a lovable ghost. I highly recommend it.” ~Sheri Wilkinson, Amazon US reviewer

Meet Charlie (not the ghost) from Running Haunted

    Full name: Charlie
    Nickname: None
    Gender: Male
    Species: Pug
Physical description: Young, agile, playful, but quirky. Known to freeze occasionally, eyes glazing over, when his deceased Mommy speaks to him…
Relationship to main character: Kelly is hired to run the house Charlie lives in.

Relationship to the villain/antagonist: The antagonist, Stella, lives next door. She doesn’t care for dogs!

Where this furbaby came from: Charlie has been with the family since he was a baby.

What inspired you to create this character?

I wanted Lauren, the spirit in the story, to have some kind of medium at her disposal so she can communicate with Kelly. When I thought that her beloved dog (from when she was alive in the house) could play that part, I quickly decided on a pug, because I wanted the dog to be both goofy and quirky. Pugs have such unique faces that could easily be imagined by the reader as cute and hilarious when needed, plus, they’re great with children too. It was an easy choice!

What does the main character think about this furbaby?

Fiction Furbaby: Meet Charlie from Running Haunted by Effrosyni Moschoudi @FrostieMoss @RobsRescues #Ghost #RLFblog #PetsAt first, Kelly is cautious because Charlie barks at her and generally is difficult to handle seeing that he has never been walked or properly trained. Soon, though, the two become inseparable, especially since the pug proves very effective in helping her communicate with the ghost spirit that haunts the house!

How do other characters react to or interact with this furbaby?

Alex, Kelly’s boss and love interest, has a soft spot for Charlie because his deceased wife used to adore him from when he was a puppy. His three underage boys also love Charlie, and he makes everyone laugh with his antics. The youngest of the boys, Tommy, has a special bond with the dog. The two of them are always together in the house, and even at night, Charlie never leaves the boy’s bedroom. Secretly from the others, the pug brings him fashion jewelry items that belonged to Tommy’s mother, and the boy puts them on the pug when they play together in his room.

What does this furbaby add to the story?

Charlie is haunted by the spirit of Lauren and his character is key for the spirit’s communication with the heroine, Kelly. Kelly is able to hear the spirit’s voice and even see her face in the mirror sometimes, but only when the pug is around! That’s why she likes to keep the dog close to her. As the story unfolds, Kelly becomes determined to help everyone with their individual problems by following the spirit’s advice to the letter. And this could never be possible without good old Charlie tagging along!

What about this furbaby will readers like, and why?

His goofiness, his playfulness, and his occasional naughtiness. In one scene, he even gives Kelly a little bite but he has a good reason! I also think the readers will love Charlie’s fondness for Kelly, which grows as the story progresses, reflecting the gradual strengthening of the bond of friendship between Kelly and the ghost.

Please share an interesting fact or tidbit about this furbaby.

Since Lauren died, Charlie doesn’t let anyone sit at the head of the dining table. He growls and barks whenever someone makes a move to sit on it. When Lauren was alive, she used to sit there holding Charlie in her lap as she ate her meals with the family…

Describe a humorous incident involving the animal character.

During the early days of Kelly’s presence in the house, she was carrying the washing in the laundry basket one morning to take it outside and hang the clothes on the line. Charlie followed her to the front gate and started barking loudly and jumping about. When she opened the door, house keys in hand, he caused a fuss trying to follow her outside and as she tried to stop him, the keys slipped off her hand. Quick as a flash, and presumably thinking this was a game, Charlie took the keys and bolted indoors. With Kelly standing outside at the time, the door slammed shut out of the blue, leaving her locked out and feeling quite miserable for a while (until a kindly neighbor came to the rescue!)

    About Loulou

Which, if any of the pets in your writing are modeled after your own pets? In what way?

I used to be a dog person and thus wound up featuring only dogs in my novels so far. That changed last year when I saved a female young cat from the street which I named Loulou (short for ‘louloudi’, which is Greek for ‘flower’). She’s such a gentle soul, all paws and not a claw in sight when I interact with her, and she made me a cat person in no time. This means I will inevitably start featuring her in many ways in my future heroines’ lives.

What do your pets do when you are writing?

Loulou loves to doze off, always in the warmest/sunniest spots, naturally. She had a litter of four kittens three months ago, and I found loving homes for the three, keeping the fourth one as I fell in love with it. So now I have two cats and the little one (haven’t named it yet!) keeps Loulou entertained and busy all day. Loulou trains her baby in big and small ways every day, and they also wrestle a lot for fun. Sometimes, I can hear Loulou’s high-pitched protestations as I work, because the kitten likes to bite her ear and won’t let go. They’re both very playful seeing that Loulou is still very young herself – not even one year old yet, from what I can gather.

What’s the most unusual pet you ever had?

The most unusual pet I’ve ever had was a hamster, Romeo, who was very cuddly. I am sorry to say he passed away after just a few months of having him, quite suddenly too, and it was most upsetting. It put me right off getting another hamster, otherwise I’d definitely get another. I loved to place him flat on my outstretched palm and stroke his back as I watched TV on the sofa in the evenings. He would always fall asleep in no time, back legs stretched out hanging over the sides of my hand, and snoring loudly. He made me laugh so much, bless his little soul, and I still laugh when I think of the happy times. I always found the sight of him having a boiled pea absolutely delightful for some reason (I boiled a lot of peas at the time because of that, LOL)

Where did you find your pet?

My cat Loulou showed up in my garden one day and decided to stay. Later, I found out she had been born in the garden of a house nearby. At first, she was timid and very fearful. After feeding her a couple times, she let me touch her and pet her, and she never left the house ever since. She’s very vocal, which is so much fun, and we have the most hilarious conversations.

What do you feed your pet?

Kibble, and cat treats for extra vitamins. Occasionally, a tin of cat food, or leftovers that are safe for her to eat.

Describe a toy or favorite item your pet loves.

Loulou has no favorite item. All she seems to do whenever I see her is seek my hand. She’ll look up and meow, then sway her head from side to side until I pet her on the top of her head. It’s hilarious. Neediest cat in the world, and a little loopy, but I certainly don’t mind. I love her to bits! J

Shout out to CARE-Corfu Animal Rescue Establishment

The charity started in 2003 when 8 puppies were found close to death in a dustbin. All were nursed back to health and subsequently, literally thousands of animals have been re-homed either in Greece, Germany, Austria and the UK.
CARE presently has a small shelter near Sidari, situated in the north of the Greek island of Corfu. With limited space and facilities, this means we sadly cannot take in all the reported strays but CARE has a mobile unit and along with groups of volunteers, CARE has set up feeding stations and the sterilization of these animals wherever possible.
