Is It True: Drakon's Past by NJ Walters @njwaltersauthor #RLFblog #PNRPlay Is It True with today’s guest NJ Walters, author of Drakon’s Past, a paranormal romance. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.
First, tell us about your book.
Constance Owens has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in handy since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon shifters.
Nic hasn’t survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn’t trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. And when he finds the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he’ll ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she’s involved with the secret society of hunters who have been hunting and capturing his kind for hundreds of years.

    Growth of Love By D Anne Paris @danneparis #RLFblog #paranormal #PNR

Growth of Love By D Anne Paris @danneparis #RLFblog #paranormal #PNRGuest post by D Anne Paris. “The gift of ahh!”

How many times have you felt the need to get something special for your loved one? Maybe it’s their birthday or an anniversary or maybe there is really no event and you just want to do something special for them. You have brainstormed all the possible gifts you can get them but gifts just aren’t cutting it. You need something deeper, more impactful, something that will be special and memorable. I am a strong believer of gifting experiences instead of trinkets which will collect dust or add clutter. An experience will give them a memory that will be more special than any trinket. If this is something you’d want to get, then forward the link to this blog post to your special someone to give them the hint!
It may sound like an easy thing to just give an experience but it requires time to plan, some effort to bring the plan to fruition, thought to figure out what exactly will be appealing to your partner and diligence to see it through. So it does take a bit of time and effort but it shows how much you care.
One great experience you can give someone, especially someone who is always busy and barely has time to indulge on themselves is a spa day.
How to plan a whole day of pampering.
Obviously the first thing you need to do is to find out when they have time for a spa day. Sometimes it can be hard but you can get creative. Tell them you want to take them out and will need a couple of hours. Once you get them to confirm they blocked the time, call a spa and book a session for them. You can book them in for the works. Full body massage, facials, manicure and pedicure. Imagine, they have been having a really stressful time lately and when they finally get time off, you offer them this amazing time to chill, unwind and get pampered. The thought alone will bring tears to their eyes and then getting an all expense paid pampering session takes the cake. They will have an amazing time getting pampered and cared for while sipping a glass of something bubbling and nibbling on finger foods.
If you want to add to this experience you can add in something extra after the spa. When they have had the time of their life getting pampered you can give them a special candlelight dinner which can be shared by both of you. You can either have dinner in a fancy restaurant or have food delivered or better yet find a chef who comes to your home to make an exquisite meal for your candlelight dinner. Make sure the meal has most of your partner’s favorite foods.
After a day of being treated like royalty your partner will feel loved and appreciated.

The Werewolves and Me: To Break a Warrior King’s Curse by Kryssie Fortune @kryssiefortune #RLFblog #PNR

The Werewolves and Me: To Break a Warrior King's Curse by Kryssie Fortune @kryssiefortune #RLFblog #PNRGuest post by Kryssie Fortune
“Write what you know,” people say.
“It makes your writing come alive,” they say.
But I write about werewolves, vampires, former military men, and regency heroines. I don’t know any of them personally.
So, for my Scattered Siblings series, I cheated.
In my book, To Wed a Werewolf, the beta wolf, Giles, whose lies come home to roost is getting married. My son had just had an upmarket wedding at a five-star hotel. That went straight into my book – only with a werewolf bride and groom.
My second Scattered Siblings book, To Break a Warrior King’s Curse – formerly Curse of the Fae King – explains why the siblings are scattered and what the Fae’s Warrior King is doing about it. Then there’s my heroine, Meena. She lives in Whitby, the homeland of British Goths. I know the place well. Every place mentioned until Meena and Leonidas end up in the otherworld is visitable and beautiful. Also, my heroine’s a witch. Well… I’m no witch, but I have pagan leanings and Wicca fascinates me. The bit about it being too cold to work sky clad came straight from a talk I heard at the British Pagan conference a few years back.
In To Mate a Werewolf, Ellie, my heroine is a cook who tempts the werewolf alpha with her cakes. If I’m not writing, I’m baking. Add in that I’ve coached athletics and my daughter ran the London marathon, then it’s no surprise Ellie likes to run. I felt like I knew Ellie before I put pen to paper.
Another of my heroines, Viola in To Seduce an Omega has crippled knee. While I am no cripple, I’ve had trouble with my right knee for years. Adding her pain into the story came easy to me.
I’m Sagittarius, which means I get itchy feet. A few years back, I did a tour of the historical sites in Greece that I thought I’d only ever get to read about. Of course, there was fodder there for another story. In Seduced by the Vampire, Claimed by the Werewolf my vampire is a former Spartan. My werewolf is a former Macedonian prince, and although it’s never mentioned in the book, I had him pegged as a forefather of Alexander the Great. He certainly has the same coloring.
While I didn’t know many witches, werewolves, fae, or vampires, I can still put reality into my fantasy novel.

To Break a Warrior King’s Curse by Kryssie Fortune

Leonidas can fight anything except dark magic.
He inherited his father’s curse along with the Fae throne. Thanks to a rogue witch, if he doesn’t bed a different woman every month, he’ll turn feral. A man can only stand so much meaningless sex. No wonder he hates witches.
When he meets Meena, he intends to seduce her, not love her.
Meena’s a witch who never developed any powers.
Banished to the mundane world, she masquerades as human. When she accidentally bonds with an escaped war dragon, Leonidas comes to reclaim it. His enemies strip him of his powers, and his month’s almost up.
What happens when he discovers she’s a witch? And how will this warrior king cope when his curse kicks in and forces him into another woman’s bed.
Please note this book was previously sold with the title Curse of the Fae King.

Stressing Tempe from Storm Crazy by Livia Quinn @liviaquinn #RLFblog #Paranormal #99cents

Stressing Tempe from Storm Crazy by Livia Quinn @liviaquinn #RLFblog #ParanormalLet’s meet Tempest Pomeroy from Storm Crazy, a paranormal by Livia Quinn. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your latest book.

    Storm Crazy by Livia Quinn

    Genre Paranormal

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Welcome to Destiny, or should I say Middle Earth…

I’m Sheriff Jack Lang. After an exciting career as a Navy pilot, Destiny seemed like the perfect place to settle down – safe, sane and secure. But that ship sailed when I met Tempest Pomeroy – sexy redheaded mail lady and trouble magnet. Tempe never fails to test the limits of my patience or the law. Every time I think it’s the last straw, up pops another haystack.

My name is Tempest Pomeroy, and my human job is delivering the mail. I’m also a Paramortal like my family, or I’m supposed to be. If I didn’t have a few little talents, I’d think I was adopted. To say I was having a bad day would be like saying Katrina dropped a little rain on New Orleans. My brother’s genie bottle is missing, my mother’s AWOL, and the sheriff and my ex-lover are squaring off like yard dogs staking a claim over a poodle. I am no one’s poodle. I’ve denied my heritage for most of my life but all this chaos is a sign of my quickening Tempestaerie power.

Oh, and the sheriff? He thinks he’s settled in a normal, quaint small town—like Mayberry?! We’ll see how that turns out… Things better settle down soon, ’cause I’m about to go…Storm Crazy.

    Stressing Tempe

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better, by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles stress.

Please tell me about your heroine.

    Age: 29

    Gender: Female

    Birthplace: Destiny, Louisiana

Profession: mail carrier and weather witch

    Ethnicity: Paramortal

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Tempestaerie

What does your heroine look like?

Tempe is tan and fit, a redhead with rainbow streaks in her hair. Her eyes are sunny blue until she gets her weather dander up then they go stormy.

Who is the significant other in her life?

Jack Lang, is becoming her significant other, but he hasn’t seen her wild side yet.

    The Heroine’s Relaxed Side

This heroine is at a party. Considering her story, describe the party.

The is being given by Jane Fortune, Destiny’s gossip columnist and 900 Psychic. It’s a ploy to get new fodder for her column.

How does the heroine feel about being this particular party, and what body language is she displaying that gives it away?

Tempe did not want to be at Jane’s party so when Jane starts asking her about the dead body she found at the clubhouse, sparks fly from her fingertips.

Is she more likely to mingle or remain aloof?

Tempe isn’t really a mingler. She and her brother were abandoned by their parents when she was ten so she tends to stay to herself.

If she drinks, what is her drink of choice at this party?

She’d love a shot of tequila but she learned her lesson – twice – this week, that Tempestaerie elements and alcohol don’t mix.

How much drink is her usual?

Ha! less than one is plenty to get her in trouble.

The heroine figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?

To avoid someone, this time the hostess.

Is she likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend that others latch onto?

Tempe would find Montana her bigger than life intimidating warrior friend to hang out with.

If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?

It depends on whether they are human or a supernatural since letting others see you use your powers is a no-no. But most likely Tempe would toss a lightning bolt at them, or call up a gust of wind to distract them.

Is the heroine the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?

Tempe’s a trouble magnet but not the kind to get thrown out. People understand why she’s having trouble

Will she know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?

LOL, she’ll be looking for the first opportunity to get away.

    The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side

How does the heroine handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was blameless in a situation?

This happened and it didn’t go well. The sheriff didn’t believe her when she said she stepped over the dead body to steal her brother’s genie bottle from the locker. Ooops.

If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?

Tempe wouldn’t hesitate to jump in and help.

This heroine attempts to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does she do?

She’d fake it, pretend she was winning until she could gain an advantage, or outlast them.

The heroine runs into the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does she do?

Something she didn’t want to do after having a shot of tequila. She kisses him.

Someone younger than the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?

She raised her brother so she understands the mistakes young people make and would try to help them without making them feel like she’s taking over.

The heroine is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself in order to get through the situation?

Pain is just a state of mind. Deny, deny, deny.

What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?

“Whatever you do, stay calm. You’re about to go through your quickening.”

What lesson from her past gets her through a stressful situation?

Even when things seemed hopeless and there was no one to turn to she managed to get herself and her little brother through a bad time and they came out okay.

What one thing would you like readers to know about your heroine?

Tempe’s like most of us, she’s just trying to protect the ones she loves and do the right thing but somehow things just keep happening and that dang sheriff keeps showing up at the worst possible time.

Driven by Love by D Anne Paris @danneparis #RLFblog #paranormalromance

D Anne Paris, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please share what you’ve observed lately.

Things are getting a bit hairy!

Most of you have noticed the beard trend among men. There are more bearded men than clean shaven men. The trend is so hot that there are even songs about it. Check out the Marty Ray Project on YouTube. He has done beard parodies such as “All about dat beard”, “All my friends are bearded”, and “Beardin on Em”. I found other artists that also got into the beardwagon and created other songs like “I like Big Beards” and “Let it Grow”.
If you have seen the latest trailer for the next Avengers movie you’ll notice that Marvel has gotten on the beardwagon! We see the normally clean cut Steve Rogers aka Captain America sporting a beard! The rest of the male Avengers also had a beard in one form or another. Guess Tony Stark started a trend!
This trend not only is in movies but has even passed into romance novels. When I searched through the Amazon best seller lists I found that most covers that had an image of the hero shows him sporting a beard of some sort. Some were five o’clock shadows while others were a full length beard. It didn’t matter what genre they were, either. So why the sudden popularity of the beard?
I searched through Google to find the answer. I found that since 2013 the beard trend has been growing (pun intended) in popularity. Reasons behind it range from more on screen characters have beards (check out the guys on the show Vikings) to men not having time to keep their clean shaven look. Other sources go back and cite examples from scientific studies which show beards help males find mates because it makes them look manly and mature. One study done in Australia found that women who wanted a stable long term relationship preferred men with beards instead of clean cut men. Apparently clean cut men are viewed as only good for flings!
Whatever caused this trend, it doesn’t seem like it will be stopping anytime soon. Even my normally clean shaven Silver Fox grew a beard! So if you like the beard enjoy it while the trend lasts because as we all know, trends die and new trends are born. Let’s just hope the next trend is not so hairy!

  • Quick and Fun,  Shapeshifter

    Drakon’s Past by NJ Walters @njwaltersauthor #RLFblog #PNR

NJ Walters, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. I’d like to get to know you better. After we talk, I’ll ask for your bio and social media. Let’s jump in to a Quick and Fun answer session.

    QUICK

Drakon's Past by NJ Walters @njwaltersauthor #RLFblog #PNRDo you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?
I write romance, but have written in many sub-genres. These days it’s primarily paranormal romance with the occasional contemporary thrown in. I can’t get enough werewolves, shifters, and vampires.
How do you come up with ideas?
Ideas come from everywhere–TV shows, magazine articles, snippets of overheard conversation, non-fiction books, songs. There is no end to possibilities. It’s all in the combination of the ideas.
For example, my Hades’ Carnival series all started with an online quiz about carnival rides. I was a carousel. *g* No surprise there. But it got me to thinking about the carousel animals. What if they were real? How did they get there? Were they cursed? How can they escape? What will happen to them when they do? I was hooked and the Hades’ Carnival series was born.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?
The characters. I’m not a plotter when I write so for me it’s all about the characters. I write mini bios for them, getting to know them better before I start to write. What do they want? What motivates them? What do they like or dislike? What makes them who they are? Once I know that, the story tends to evolve organically. As soon as I have the first scene locked down in my head, I start to write and let the story unfold from there.
When did you write your first book?
I wrote my first book back in 1995-96. I’d always been a voracious reader. At the time, I was unemployed for a short while and decided to try my hand at writing. I wrote 2 books and submitted them to a couple of publishers, but they were rejected. I put the books away and didn’t start writing again until 2003. I wrote a short novel and submitted it to one of the early e-publishers and had it accepted. Annabelle Lee was released in October of 2004 (it’s since been rereleased as Uncovering Annabelle).
And the two books I wrote back in the 1990s…they were rewritten and Discovering Dani and The Way Home became the first two books of my Jamesville series.

    Tell us about Drakon’s Past
