please.I’m the most fabulous figure skater on the ice today and I’m
determined to prove to everyone, but especially myself, that I have what it takes
to get Olympic gold.What is it that you want,

and to everyone who has supported me over the years. I want it more than I want
almost anything…maybe more than I want love.What’s your internal limitation?
Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need
to do during this story?I’m flamboyant and uncompromising in who I am. I’m a control
freak and I can’t accept that there are some things in life that I just can’t control,
even though that’s what I most need to find a way to embrace.What inner doubt causes
you the most difficulty?What if I can’t do it? What if I make the wrong choice?What’s your external complication?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you fear most.What if the judges who control whether or not I can achieve my
goal will never give it to me, no matter what I do? What if I choose one thing and

other, that person who makes living worthwhile.Rob is lovely, warm, giving, loving…and knows how to take control
in bed. He accepts me just the way I am and I need someone like that in my life,
because I can’t seem to accept myself that way at all.What would that person
say about you?He’d say I’m a pain in his ass, I’m sure, but then he’d say that
I’m amazing and he’d smile bright as sunshine.What is your family like?They’re pretty great, though sometimes I wonder why they let
me be so driven at such a young age. Sometimes I wonder why they allowed me to go
this far down the Olympic path knowing what it cost me.What special skills do
you rely on?Being fabulous, of course! And a great media smile.If someone from your past
showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?The hockey players who used to bully me in the locker room at
the rink. I’d rather not see those assholes ever again.Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?I’m happy, yes, because I’ve figured out what’s most important
in life and, believe it or not, it’s not a gold medal.About the Writer
Why did you choose to
write about this character?Matty obsessed me from the beginning. He was mouthy and bratty
and so lovable that I have had a hard time letting him go.What do you want to write
next?I’m wrapping up a four book series, a gay coming of age romance
that is set in the South. I will publish all four of them within the next year and
a half. I’m excited to finally bring those characters to the world because I’ve
been working on these books off and on for about ten years. I can’t wait for everyone
to meet Adam, Peter, Daniel, Minty, and Renee.What other character from
this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?Angus and Bill from Training Season have been screaming at me
to explore their relationship for awhile. I love their relationship and I hope to
get around to exploring them.Are any sequels planned
for this book?Yes, the aforementioned Angus/Bill book, but also a future book

other, that person who makes living worthwhile.Shane allowed me to love again after two thousand years. Ronan
was my lover in my mortal life and when Shane and I first met, he was so much like
Ronan it was both painful and wonderful. I don’t know for sure if he’s Ronan’s reincarnation
and it doesn’t matter. He’s the man I love and we’ve been through a lot together
in a short time.What would that person
say about you?I’d like to think he’d say that I proved to him not all vampires
are evil. He’d say he loves me. I know he does.What is your family like?Brayden, Ansley, Rule and Guy are my family. They’re my brothers.
We weren’t born to the same mortal family, but we were changed by Tarun. We’ve depended
on each other, fought with each other and cared about each other. We’ve shared good
times and endured rough times together. We’re vampires, but I guess you could say
that in a lot of ways we’re a pretty average family.What special skills do
you rely on?Gut instinct. Mind control is a powerful thing and I learned
a lot about it from Tarun, but in the end I believe you have to go with your instincts.If someone from your past

character, what made you the most happy? What made you the most sad?It made me happy to give Bryce some peace and happiness with
Shane, but it made me sad that he had to lose Ronan. Even I’m not entirely sure
if Shane is Ronan reincarnated, but I do know that Bryce was finally able to find
love again and I enjoyed exploring everything that brought him to it.Why do you write?I can’t imagine not writing. Writing is so many things to me–an
outlet, a lifestyle, and an intimate form of expression.What do you want to write
next?Right now I’m working on two science fiction romances.What other character from
this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?I truly wanted to write about Tarun and Adrian. It was so much
fun to give them their own story in Fangs and Floggers. I love villains and antiheroes,
so I really wanted to let Tarun tell his side of the story. From his vampiric sons’
point of view, he’s a monster, but like them he has a dark past and his own reasons

TV shows? Which are your favorites?I’m a big fan of TV…which probably sounds a bit odd since I don’t
own one. Netflix and I are the best of friends. My favs include My Name is Earl,
1950s movies, Simpsons, and American Dad.What are you working on
at the moment, and what are we likely to see from you in the coming months?I’m working on a new series called Saving Liam. The first book
is due out in April 2014.Please tell us about your

live my life without continually looking over my shoulder wondering if I’ll be caught
and disgraced. The lowliest chimney sweep can walk down the road with his girl on
his arm. Is it too much to be allowed to walk down the road with my man on mine?What’s your internal limitation?
Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need
to do during this story?I could say it’s the damn unfairness of the law, making men such
as myself prey to blackmailers, but that’s a coward’s defence. If I’m being honest
in my answer, I can’t help usually assuming the worst, and putting a pessimistic
interpretation on things.Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.That would have to be Jonny Browne, who I first met when I was
dressed up to the nines as a soubrette. I’d better explain. I was in a WWI concert
party, helping to keep up the lads’ morale. Miss Madeleine was my stage name and
I was trussed up in more feathers, silk and lace than a high class tart. Jonny had
the sort of smile to get my bloomers in a tangle.What would that person
say about you?That I’m an infuriating idiot who wouldn’t know a good thing
if it smacked him one in the gob. He’d also (I hope) say I’m handsome, witty and
have a stunning pair of legs. And that my skills in bed were worth the wait.What special skills do
you rely on?In bed or out? As I’m a gentleman I’ll refrain from commenting
on the former! I discovered a lot about myself during the war, not least that I
could sing and dance well enough to deceive plenty of people into thinking (at least
for a while) that they were watching a girl. I also found unexpected depths of courage.
They tell me I fought like a lion, but all I can remember was being bloody scared
and having to do my duty despite it.Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?Of course I am. Happy ever after might be a pipe dream for a
man like me in the era I live in, but Happy for now is more than many of us could
have expected during the war.About You: Questions for the writer.
You have the length of

do.If you want nice young men, quirky humour, unusual settings and
ideas, I’m your girl! I can’t deny having written about gay weresloths…Why did you choose to
write about this character?I read a fascinating book about the songs of WWI, and was amazed
to discover how popular concert parties had been back then, out in France.
When I found out that some of them contained extremely convincing female impersonators
(at least one of whom got kidnapped by another regiment who wanted ‘her’ for their
own) I had to write a story set against that background.Was there anything you
discovered about this character that was a surprise to you?My characters continually surprise me. To the extent that I often
end up re-writing whole sections of stories to make them accord with what I’ve found
out. That may sound like hard work, but I think it gives the storyline authenticity,
rather than shoe-horning a character into a pre-arranged plot. Not that I ever have
a pre-arranged plot.As for Samuel, I knew he was a courageous fighter, so the extent
of his doubts and fears in peacetime surprised me.When you wrote about this
character, what made you the most happy? What made you the most sad?The era itself makes me very sad. Such a waste of life in that
conflict. So many young men cut down in their prime, including heroes of mine like
Wilfred Owen and Ronnie Poulton-Palmer. But I have to keep coming back to it and
exploring the notion of men at war. Awfully Glad is my fourth story set in or around
WWI.Are any sequels planned
for this book?I don’t think so. I have a long running series – the Cambridge
Fellows mysteries – and if I have a contemporary cosy mystery with gay romantic
elements which has been submitted to a publisher and that might become a series.

What inspired you to write this book?I’ve always loved the holidays and I thought it was high time
I wrote a Christmas romance. I have fond memories of Christmases at my family’s
cottage on Georgian Bay in rural Ontario,
and it was the perfect setting to convey the cozy warmth of the holiday. I’ve long
wanted to write about actors, and it was the perfect opportunity to juxtapose Hollywood with this peaceful
setting far away from the glitz. I love the snow and mistletoe, family and friends–and
of course food!When you write, what things do you want close at hand? (Coffee,
water, chocolate… pictures of gorgeous hunks for inspiration…?)Water or Diet Coke if I need some caffeine. Also my white noise
machine if my neighbour is belting out Britney, as she is wont to do from time to
time. (I give her an A+ for effort, but it’s not so fun to listen to!)When you’re not writing, what would we find you doing?You’d find me catching up on my favourite TV shows and movies,
at yoga class, or curled up with a good book.Are you a plotter, or do you prefer to make it up on the spur
of the moment?I’m a mix of plotter and pantser. I always know where the story
will end up, and I have a general idea of how to get there. But I need the characters
to come to life and fill in the details and twists and turns.What’s your writing schedule like?I aim for 3,000 words per day, five days a week. I get up by
eight a.m. and work for a few hours before going to the gym for a class at noon.
Then shower, lunch, and back to work until around seven p.m. Although sometimes
I’ll keep going if I’m on a roll! I usually work through the weekend so I can take
some time off mid-week to run errands or perhaps sneak in a cheap Tuesday matinee.What other jobs have you held besides writing?I was a waitress from the end of high school through university
and post-degree studies and travel. Until recently I worked as a marketing copywriter
before becoming a full-time novelist.Which of your books was the hardest to write and why?Semper Fi, my upcoming
WWII-era drama/romance. It’s the most ambitious book I’ve written, and I did a lot
of research on Marines in the Pacific and post-war life in America. It’s not
an easy era in which to set a realistic gay romance. Some people shy away from the
war, which I understand. But I loved writing it and I hope readers will respond
to it.What are you currently reading for fun? Anything for research?For fun I’m rereading
K.A. Mitchell’s An Improper Holiday (how
I love an M/M historical at the holidays!). I’m also reading The Naked Truth About Self Publishing, which
obviously isn’t research for a particular book, but general career research.Do you believe in luck?Definitely. Some of the best things in life are due to sheer
dumb luck! For example, I feel very fortunate to know some of my closest friends
because we happened to like the same TV shows and started talking about them online
in the same forum.What kind of music do you listen to while driving? Same question
when writing?When driving I listen to pop music or Broadway show tunes. I
generally never listen to music while writing since I find it distracting.What’s your favorite movie?It’s hard to choose, but I have to go with Strictly Ballroom. It makes me grin like
a fool every time. A life lived in fear is a life half lived!Are you the eldest, middle, baby, or only child?I’m the baby and I have an older sister named Wendy. As a child
I couldn’t say her name and called her “Girl” for years, much to her chagrin!Please complete the sentence
