With no way out, Gabrielle knows the two weeks with her aristocratic traditional family will be a trial, and Europe is on edge. She had no idea the danger she, Adrian and her children would be in.

Will Adrian and Gabrielle reach safety? If they do, are they out of danger or will the intrigue and treason follow them back to England?

    QUICK

How do you come up with ideas?…

The idea for Perilous Love came from a small article on how a person’s true character emerges when faced with extreme danger, stress, or situations beyond our control. For instance, the tough guy turns to water and runs, the insignificant person steps up and takes charge. At the time I read this article I was reading my grandfather’s WW1 military record while completing my family tree. I had the setting, and I had the story.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

Research, when we write historical fiction, we must provide an authentic as possible background for our story.

When did you write your first book?..

I have quite a few attempts going back some years and a few rejection letters to go with them. Perilous Love was my first real serious book and was published by Black Velvet Seductions in 2015.

Fated Hearts, A Love After All Retelling of the Scottish Play by Alina K Field

    Genre: Regency Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Plagued by hellish memories and rattling visions of battle to come, a Scottish Baron returning from two decades at war meets the daughter he denied was his, and the wife he divorced, and learns that everything he’d believed to be true was a lie. What he can’t deny is that she’s the only woman he’s ever loved. They’re not the young lovers they once were, but when passion flares, it burns more hotly than ever it did in their youth.

They soon discover, it wasn’t fate that drove them apart, but a jealous enemy, who played on his youthful arrogance and her vulnerability. Now that old enemy has resurfaced, more treacherous than ever. When his lady falls into a trap, can he reach her in time to rescue this love that never died?

Why did you write this book?

Fated Hearts is part of the Tragic Characters in Classic Lit project, wherein a group of Regency romance authors are taking tragic characters and with complete artistic license, setting them in Georgian era England and giving them a happily-ever-after. I couldn’t resist the challenge of retelling Macbeth’s story.

Rupert Carsington, from Loretta Chase’s Mr. Impossible

A Christmas novella for 2021 release.

Read the series: The Legend of Skinner Robelard -- Legends Book 1 by Rue Allyn @RueAllyn #RLFblog #WesternRomanceA woman bent on revenge hides in plain sight in Rue Allyn’s new Historical Western Romance, The Legend of Skinner Robelard. A man from her past wants to keep her safe, but can his love conquer her vengeance.

Rue, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your series.

The Legend of Skinner Robelard — Book 1 in the Legend Series

    Genre Historical Western Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13

Pampered and privileged then betrayed and disowned, Elise Van Demer hides in plain sight and plots her revenge on the men who destroyed her life. With her goal in sight, she encounters a lawman from her past. Boyd Alvarez could ruin everything, and the last thing she needs is wanting some man who only wants to protect her.

His family dead and without a home, Boyd Alvarez rides the range and hunts bounties for a living. When he stumbles on Elise Van Demer his only thought is to keep her safe. He can outgun just about every man, but can he protect her from her own plans of revenge? Can he teach her that loving a man is a better dream than destroying her enemies?

Which book is this in the series?

This is the first book in my Legends series

How many books do you plan for the series?

At least three with a good chance of more

    How many books are completed?

    Only this first book

What characters are the main stars in your series?

A different hero and heroine will star in each book.

What is the overall theme in this series?

Ordinary men and women who live extraordinary lives

What did you like best about writing this series?

I love the challenge of finding the ordinary men and women and the extraordinary circumstances into which I place them. For example my plan for book three is to have a prospector–fairly ordinary for the ‘old west’ encounter a fae woman, who’s been banished from her home.

What other books (not in this series, have you written?)

I’ve written a number of series. Wildfire love books 1-3 are sort of prequel to this story. The hero and heroine of The Legend of Skinner Robelard met in book 2 of the Wildfire Love Series. I’ve also written several books set in Medieval England and Scotland The Knight Chronicles is an ongoing series which will eventually link up all the heroes of those books.

Where can we find links for all your books?

Convincing the Countess by Alina K Field

    Genre: Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

There’s no Christmas like a Regency Christmas spent under mistletoe! New York Times Bestselling author Cheryl Bolen and friends invite you to discover true love in eleven deliciously steamy romances in this all-new holiday collection

In Alina K Field’s Convincing the Countess, a penniless widowed countess with trade in her blood descends upon the country manor of her sons’ negligent guardian, intent on confronting him and setting a course for her boys’ futures. Instead, she finds his younger brother, a business-minded aristocrat with a penchant for widows and a distaste for emotional entanglements. A man who once witnessed her greatest humiliation. A man offering tempting distractions that threaten to derail all her plans.

Called home at Christmas to bring his older brother to heel and sort out the family finances, a baron’s younger brother wishes nothing more than to finish the task and return to his railway project. But when he finds his mother entertaining a fetching widow he met many years earlier as the unfortunate bride of a ne’er-do-well earl, temptation steers him along a different track, one that may derail all his plans.

Can he convince the reluctant countess to set a course for her future that includes him?

Why did you write this book?

The business-minded hero is a secondary character in last year’s The Duke She Despised. I knew he had to have his own happily ever after!

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy many, but I especially like historical romance and historical mystery.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Rupert Carsington, the hero of Loretta Chase’s Mr. Impossible.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m just wrapping up Fated Hearts, a project for the Love After All Tragic Characters in Literature project, retelling the story of Macbeth as a Regency-set romance with a happily-ever-after; I’ve finished a novella called The Comtesse of Midnight, related to Fated Hearts for Storm and Shelter, a Bluestocking Belles and Friends Collection; and I’m also working on the first draft of a sequel to Convincing the Countess.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Fated Hearts, my Macbeth retelling, will be available at the end of December. Storm and Shelter is available now for preorder for the April 2020 release.

Read the #Highlander Romance boxed set Highlander Romances by Cathleen Ross @cathleenross #RLFblog #RomanceHighland Wars take a turn when four Highland brothers find love.

Cathleen Ross, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Highlander Romances.

    Highlander Romances by Cathleen Ross

    Genre Historical Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

The Highlander Romances is a boxed set of four Forbidden Fantasy stories: Highlander (short story), Highlander in Her Bed (novella) and two novels, In Her Wild Highlander’s Bed and My Highland Lover.

Enjoy the tales of four strong highland brothers.

Highlander is a 10,000 word erotic romance set in Scotland, 1308. When Sir James Bruce conquers enemy territory, his reward is the hand of beautiful virgin, Lady Isobel McLaird. Although Isobel has no intention of marrying Sir James, he intends to tame her to his touch.

Scotland 1308 Sir David McLaird is a prisoner of Sir James Bruce. When healer, Lady Arabel Bruce tends to his wounds he doesn’t expect to fall in love. The trouble is Arabel is from the enemy clan.

Lady Arabel loves the wild highlander but won’t betray her clan and marry him, until Sir David abducts and makes her his.

When Sir Jasper Bruce discovers a lady hiding under his bed in the castle he has just conquered, he doesn’t expect to fall in love.

Lady Rosamund Percy can think of nothing else except escaping to England when her Scottish betrothed leaves her stranded. The trouble is Sir Jasper considers her a delicious prize of war. How can she convince him to let her go when he wants her in his bed?

1314 Highlands Grieving widower, Sir Eoin Bruce is forced to marry wealthy Lady Jehanne de la Croix in order to keep her dowry in Bruce hands. Eoin hates enchantment of any kind and he soon discovers Jehanne is the witch who haunted his dreams. She brings him more titles and wealth than he ever thought possible as a second son of a laird. Can he overcome his grief and go against everything he believes in to love her?

Jehanne de la Croix wants nothing more than to be safe and loved by her husband, Sir Eoin Bruce but she was born from a line of great seers. If she can’t get Eoin to accept her prophesies, she will burn at the stake and he will meet a violent end. Everything rests on Eoin and his willingness to love a witch.

What is the appeal of highlanders?

What makes them great romantic heroes?

Without a doubt Highlanders are the ultimate hero but what makes them so popular year after year?

I’ve been drawn to writing Highlander stories for years from the time I had a dream about a dispossessed knight who wanted to get his land back. In the dream, his name was The Black Douglas. I woke up thinking, what an odd dream, made even odder by the fact that the voice in my head was still speaking until I was properly awake.

So of course, I looked up the Black Douglas born 1286 – 25 August 1330

to find out he was in fact, a dispossessed knight in the time of Robert the Bruce. I spent several enjoyable years writing the story of four Bruce brothers, which I have put into a boxed set.

It’s the characteristics of the Highland hero that make for exciting writing. That never-give-up spirit combined with a war-like national spirit. The Highland charge made Scottish soldiers formidable on the battle field. It was not uncommon for the English soldiers to run for their lives. It was the Battle of Culloden in 1746 that finally broke the back of the Highlanders. Under the Duke of Cumberland, King George 11’s son, the English used every form of cruelty take no quarter to defeat their enemy the Scots.

Cumberland’s troops were encouraged to rape, pillage and plunder anyone suspected of being Jacobites including men, women and children, which in the end only served to render Cumberland, the name of The Butcher.

It was this level of brutality that earned the Scots the level of sympathy not previously given to the warlike nation. The poet and writer, Sir Walter Scot born August 15, 1771, Endinburgh, Scotland to September 21, 1832, grew up listening to the tales of the Highland rebellion. He wrote a series of novels now called the Waverley series, which expressed the dichotomy between the need to modernise Scotland and the loss of the Scottish national spirit. The Waverley novels romanticised Scotland, adding to the tradition of the romantic historical novel.

As readers we want to hear about the struggle before we get to the victorious ending. Scottish stories fit in well here because every victory was tinged with poverty and struggle and ultimately defeat. All elements of good story fodder.
