Curse of the Healer by Ashley York @ashleyyork1066 #RLFblog #historical #romanceToday’s featured book is Curse of the Healer, a historical romance by Ashley York

After the death of Brian Boru in 1014, a legend arose of a healer so great she could raise a man from the dead, with a power so strong it could make any warrior the next high king of Éire…and to steal it away from her, he need only possess her.

    Fated to be a healer…

Aednat has spent her entire life training to be the great healer, knowing she must remain alone. When she meets Diarmuid, the intense attraction she feels toward him shakes her resolve to believe in such a legend. If she gives in to the passion he ignites in her, can she settle for being less?

    Destined to be his…

Diarmuid of Clonascra is renowned for his bravery in battle. Only one thing daunts him: the prospect of taking a wife. The safest course would be to keep his distance from Aednat, the bold, headstrong healer who’s far too tempting for his peace of mind. But his overking orders him to protect her from a group of craven warriors intent on kidnapping her to steal her power.

What starts as duty for Diarmuid quickly transforms into something more. Aednat’s power might be at risk, but so is his closed-off heart.

In a pirate’s lair, nothing is as it seems…

Shipwrecked! When Royce Hastings is found washed up on the shore of a verdant tropical island, he tells the natives he is a merchant headed for Mozambique. The truth, however, is far more mercenary. Noble by birth, the once favored Royce has lost his fortune and family; now he is a hired henchman on the trail of an elusive pirate. His “shipwreck” was a fake. He’ll stop at nothing to infiltrate the island and capture his prey. His mother and sisters’ lives depend on it.

The last thing Royce expects is to be captured himself. But the lovely young woman who tends to his wounds in the tropics quickly takes hold of his heart. Simone is the island’s healer, and her skilled ministrations not only awaken his soul but disturb his conscience. His path has been predetermined; his identity must remain concealed at all costs. Yet the passion he feels in Simone’s sultry, loving arms cannot be denied. With his loyalties torn, Royce must make an agonizing, unthinkable choice…

Venus and Lysander by Yoshiyuki Ly @LyLikeLee #RLFblog #historical #romance

Venus and Lysander by Yoshiyuki Ly @LyLikeLee #RLFblog #historical #romanceWelcome Yoshiyuki Ly author of Venus and Lysander, a new Historical Romance.

Why did you write this book?

LGBT historical romances typically focus on forbidden relationships. I decided to add fantasy elements and a made-up setting to mostly distance myself from that reality. It’s a fresh take on that type of era along with some social commentary so as to not make it completely unrealistic.

What is your favorite genre to read?

    Philosophy.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Noah from Consider What Becomes of the Ashes by Pixelnyx. He goes through many hardships as a refugee in a foreign city. I admire his muted tenacity as he pushes on.

What are you working on at the moment?

A distant follow-up to Venus and Lysander that wraps up the plot I’ve built up in this world. It’s a romance with fantasy elements, but set in a more contemporary time period.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Hopefully the one I mentioned above.

Please tell us about your latest book.

    Genre: Historical romance/fantasy.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R.

Living as a nobleman and as a woman, Valerie of Lysander is sick of waiting for the world to change. The discrimination she suffers as an outcast builds into resentment. Once Val takes matters into her own hands, the whole Empire of Tynan feels her brand of justice. The Emperor’s adviser, Lucrezia of Azrith, wants more of Val’s ruthlessness—for revenge against the unjust, and for her own desires. Venus and Lysander is an intricate romance set in the fictional Victorian city of Eden, 250 years after the events in The Scorpion’s Empress.

Lucrezia is Lady Chancellor for the Emperor and a sorceress-in-hiding. She is forced to conceal her identity from the religious public for fear of death. As she learns to trust in Val’s chivalry and affections for her, they both fall for the softer sides behind their similar bulletproof personas. Lucrezia receives a mysterious warning about a sadistic enemy threatening the Azrith and Lysander families. Once they discover their nemesis’ true motive, Val and Lucrezia’s tyrannous devotion for one another is all they can count on to survive.

    Discover Alina K Field’s new Regency Romance @AlinaKField #RLFblog #historical

Welcome Alina K Field, author of The Bastard’s Iberian Bride, a new Regency Romance.
Why did you write this book?
I had a secondary character in one of my earlier books who stuck with me and demanded his own romantic adventure. As it turned out, Bink Gibson was an illegitimate son of an earl who served as a spy lord for England
during the Napoleonic wars. While I like all the titled gentlemen who populate the Regency world, I had a great deal of fun writing a character who doesn’t quite fit in with his aristocratic father and siblings. The Bastard’s Iberian Bride is the first book in a series I’m calling Sons of the Spy Lord.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love historical romances, the more adventurous, the better.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
If I may have two: William Doyle, who appears in several of Joanna Bourne’s books, and is the hero of her book The Forbidden Rose, and Loretta Chase’s Rupert Carsington, the hero of her book Mr. Impossible.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m cleaning up Book 2 in the Sons of the Spy Lord series, doing final revisions.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
I’ll be releasing the second book in this series in late summer 2017, and the third book around the end of 2017.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre: Historical Romance, Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
    Daughter of spies
For a chance at true freedom, Paulette Heardwyn needs the fortune left her by her inscrutable father. But she doesn’t know what it is,
where it is, or how to find it, and the only man with answers, the Earl of Shaldon, takes his secrets to the grave. Worse, the dead earl tries to force her marriage to his bastard son—and leaves her prey to a traitor seeking the same treasure she’s after.
Soldier, Steward, Bastard Bink Gibson is ready to throw off his quiet life as steward to his old commander and head for India and the chance of prosperity. But before he can leave he’s summoned to the deathbed of the Earl of Shaldon, a meddling spymaster, a complete stranger…and his father.
And the Earl has set a trap Bink will never be able to resist.

Dorothea Sinclair has left her small home town in Maine and
come to Boston to begin a career as a newspaper reporter. But so far her job on
the Guardian has proved disappointing. More skivvy than reporter, she’s even
been subjected to a humiliating proposition from the chief editor’s son. She
needs a break but never expects it might come from a chance meeting with an
    Irish ruffian.
There’s a great deal of injustice in Boston, and O’Hare,
embroiled in his fight for equality on behalf of Boston’s Irish, is well aware
of it. When he rescues Dorothea’s hat on the waterfront, he’s surprised to
learn she’s a reporter. And when she offers him the opportunity to state his
case in the Guardian, what can he do but accept? It’s the perfect chance to put
his dreams into his own words—and the only sure way to see her again.
