Why did you write this book?

The short answer is Oprah made me do it! Not long after I finished acting school in the early 2000s, an episode of her show featured romance writers. I thought, “I could do that,” every bit as naive as I was to think a starring role on Broadway would arrive on my doorstep tied up in a red ribbon. Ten years passed before I made my Broadway debut…and another ten passed before that sweet romance about a red-haired girl looking for her place in the world finally found its way to publication.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Picking a favorite genre is like picking a favorite child! I can’t do it! I love romance, chick lit, middle readers, YA, and the classics, just to name a few.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Lately, I’m obsessed with the audiobooks of Diana Gabaldon’s brilliant “Outlander” series. Davina Porter’s narration is brilliant, and I love Claire Fraser! I love her smarts and her resourcefulness and her spunk!

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m in the thick of writing the second book in the Hearts of the Ridge series, in which an unlikely character from “Hometown” gets her long-awaited happily ever after.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Book two is on its way, followed by a third after that! All three Hearts of the Ridge romances are set in Green Ridge, PA and feature one Amish and one “English” character. They’re sweet and funny and heartfelt, and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.
