The Marquess and the Midwife by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Once upon a time, the younger brother of a marquess fell in love with his sister’s companion. He was sent off to war, and she was just sent off, and they both landed in very different worlds.

Now Virgil Radcliffe has returned from his self-imposed exile on the Continent to take up his late brother’s title and discover the whereabouts of the only woman he’s ever loved.

Abandoned by her lover and dismissed by her employer, Ameline Dawes has found a respectable identity as a Waterloo widow, a new life as a midwife, and a safe, secure home for her twin girls. Called to London at Christmas to attend her benefactress’s lying-in, she finds herself confronted by an unexpected house guest–a man determined to woo her anew and win her again.

But is loving the new Marquess of Wallenford a mistake Ameline cannot afford to repeat?

Specially priced at 99 cents through Dec. 31, 2019!

Tell us about yourself as a person.

What makes you different from other people?

I honestly don’t think I’m much different from other people!

    What is your personality type?

I’m an introvert, and something of a workaholic, though I never seem to get as much done as I want to. If we’re talking Meyers-Briggs, I’m an ISFJ.

What was your favorite childhood game?

I loved racing around outside playing tag with my brother and friends.

What is your favorite subject to talk about?

I confess, I’m not very good at the art of conversation. I’m the silent one at gatherings of strangers listening to everyone else talk and trying to draw them out on their subject of interest. But when I’m with family and old friends, I like to hear about their kids, and grandkids and tell them about mine.

    What is your favorite book?

Honestly, I have many, but I absolutely adore Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase.

    What is your favorite meal?

I have many favorites (and the extra pounds that come with!), but let’s just say, anything but seafood and organ meats!

Tell us about yourself as a writer.

What made you want to be a writer?

I always loved story. As a child, I used to dream up stories when I had trouble going to sleep at night, something that I think is pretty common among people who go on to write fiction.

What are your favorite books for writing advice?

Books with intricate plotting schemes often freeze up my muse, but after hearing John Truby speak recently at a conference, I’m re-reading helpful parts of his book, The Anatomy of Story. My very favorite writing book is Techniques of the Selling Writer, by Dwight V. Swain. An oldie, but goodie.

What are your favorite reference books?

Not books, but websites: etymonline.com, a free Etymological Dictionary, invaluable for deciding whether a word was used in my story’s time period; and Wikipedia! I go there first for a summary of the topic, and then check the links at the bottom of the article.

When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?

A notebook and paper and a heavy sweater or shawl because I’m always freezing.

What’s your best advice for a new writer?

Finish that story to the end. Let yourself write ugly pages, but get the story down all the way to the end. Go back later to make it pretty. Learn what works best for you (plotting vs. pantsing; critique group vs. on your own; Scrivener or Word; daily or weekend writing) and follow that path to publication. There’s no one way to do this work.

What are your writing goals for this year?

My goals for 2020: a sequel to this year’s Christmas novella in the Winter Wishes Regency Christmas Anthology; another Regency novella set around Michaelmas; a retelling of Macbeth as a romance with a happy ending; and work on a prequel series to my Sons of the Spy Lord books.

Suddenly a St Clair (The St Clairs Book 5) by Alexa Aston

    Genre: Regency romance

    Book heat level: PG-13

Will a marriage of convenience blossom into one filled with love?

At age eighteen, Hudson St Clair learns he’s the Duke of Everton’s bastard. Though never claimed by his father, the new duke, Hudson’s half-brother, accepts Hudson into the family, gifting him with a university education and teaching him about the myriad of businesses controlled by the St Clair family. His grandmother, Cor, guides Hudson in how to become a gentleman and molds his character, making him a man to be reckoned with. Upon Cor’s death, her wealth and estate will go to him—provided Hudson weds within sixty days after the reading of her will.

Lady Mia Sloane is an inventor, caring for her feeble-minded father on their crumbling country estate. Upon his death, Mia is swept away to London by her pushy but loving aunt, who tries to turn Mia into a woman she’s not. Attending society events at night, Mia spends her days working on her devices, especially the new steam engine she’s sold to Hudson St Clair and his family.

When Mr. St Clair proposes a marriage of convenience in order to allow Mia to continue working on her prototypes, she leaps at the offer, despite never having desired a husband or children. The only thing troubling her is her new husband tells her she’s not expected to share his bed—the very thing Mia has become most interested in doing since their experiments in kissing have awakened something within her that only Hudson St Clair can fill.

Can two misfits rejected by society come together and grow stronger through the lasting bond of love?

Find the answer in bestselling author Alexa Aston’s fourth book of The St Clairs, Defending the Duke.
Each book in The St Clairs Trilogy is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.
    Series Order:
Book #1 Devoted to the Duke
Book #2 Midnight with the Marquess
    Book #3 Embracing the Earl

    Book #4 Defending the Duke

Book #5 Suddenly a St Clair

Why did you write this book?

This is the final entry in my St Clairs series. Hudson is the last of his St Clair siblings to find love. It was very satisfying bringing this series to a close with Hudson and Mia’s love story.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I am an eclectic reader and look for a great story no matter what the genre.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I love so many characters. Jack Reacher is a current favorite of mine.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m hard at work on my Medieval Runaway Wives trilogy, which will be released next summer.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Soldiers & Soulmates is a new Regency trilogy I’ll publish soon. To Heal an Earl comes out in February; To Tame a Rogue is a March release; and To Trust a Duke is due in April.

Haunting Miss Fenwick by Alina K Field @AlinaKField #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomanceAlina K Field , welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Haunting Miss Fenwick by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13

Thrilled to finally have a permanent home, a Squire’s daughter won’t let a supernatural creature scare her away. While hunting the ghost she doesn’t believe in, she stumbles upon a mysterious flesh and blood man who might be the key to all of her problems.

When the new Squire moves into Fenwick Manor, an ex-army officer secretly searching the sprawling medieval wreck devises a plan. First, the manor’s legendary ghost will chase servants away. Then, he’ll convince the new residents to leave. But the Squire’s spirited daughter soon has him wondering if he might have found a perfect comrade in arms to help battle old enemies and find the proof that will clear his family name.

Why did you write this book?

Haunting Miss Fenwick picks up the story of Fenwick Manor, the home of one of the characters in my book The Counterfeit Lady. Not only do my hero and heroine get a happy ending, but the old manor does as well!

The story is also part of the Common Elements Romance Project. There are about one hundred of us romance authors writing stories in a variety of subgenres. All that’s required is that each story include five common elements: a missing key, a lightning storm, a haunted house, a character named Max, and a stack of books.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I like historical romance, and historical adventure stories.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

There are many, but I’m going to pick Rupert Carsington, the intrepid and incorrigible hero of Mr. Impossible, by Loretta Chase.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m doing the research and story planning for a prequel series to my Sons of the Spy Lord series, to be set in England during the tumultuous times of the French Revolution. I’m also planning a story for the Love After All project with other historical romance authors. We’re taking famous tragic characters, setting them in Regency England, and giving them a happy-ever-after. My story will be about Macbeth. Wish me luck!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Besides Haunting Miss Fenwick, I have a short Christmas novel included in the just-released Winter Wishes Holiday Regency Romance Anthology with twelve other authors. My story is called The Duke She Despised.

3 Droolworthy Regency Book Boyfriends, a list by Kryssie Fortune @KryssieFortune #RLFblog #Regency #RomanceKryssie Fortune, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Thank you for coming to share an insight from your book.

Regency Book Boyfriend 1 – Richard Sharpe

Rifleman jay grants anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law.

I’ve read the Bernard Cornwell books, and while he wasn’t as droolworthy there, he was still a compelling and well-written character. He wasn’t lucky in love, though.

I fell for him when I watched the Sharpe TV series. Add in that as Sean Bean in his dark green military rifleman’s uniform oozed sex appeal, and I was hooked. He might not be the obvious top pick, but he’s certainly mine.

Regency Book Boyfriend 2 – Mr. Darcy3 Droolworthy Regency Book Boyfriends, a list by Kryssie Fortune @KryssieFortune #RLFblog #Regency #Romance

Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy by Hugh Thomson (1860-1920) [Public domain]

Think Colin Firth emerging from the lake. I’m hot and bothered already. So powerful was THAT scene, that there is now a statue of him in the Serpentine in London – wet shirt and all. Even in the book, he’s powerful and charismatic. The way he falls for Elizabeth Bennet is a joy to watch. As we know, true love doesn’t run smooth, but he wins her in the end.

Regency Book Boyfriend 3 – Hugo Darracott

3 Droolworthy Regency Book Boyfriends, a list by Kryssie Fortune @KryssieFortune #RLFblog #Regency #Romance(from Georgette Heyer’s Unknown Ajax)

The South Gate, Rye by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm (No attribution Required)

My love of Historical Fiction started the instant I laid hands on a Georgette Heyer Regency romance.

Picking my favorite Heyer hero was hard. I settled on Hugo because he’s strong and protective, with a wicked sense of humor. Plus, I once led an online worldwide discussion of this book for massed Georgette Heyer fans. (I thought it was five of six people and like an idiot, I volunteered.) Fortunately, I’d visited one of the locations in the book – Mermaid Street, Rye – where some of the action takes place. I was luckier than I deserved.

Regency Book Boyfriend 4 – Viscount Stonehurst

I’d love to add a fourth Regency Hero, Viscount Stonehurst from my latest release The Viscount’s Pet.3 Droolworthy Regency Book Boyfriends, a list by Kryssie Fortune @KryssieFortune #RLFblog #Regency #Romance

He’s dark and satanic, the proprietor of a House of Fun in London, as well as the land agent on his best friend’s country estate. He’s heading home to reconnect with the father who disinherited him when he almost rides down Julianna Halstead. Unaware she has an abusive brother, he forces her to return home, but he steals a wicked kiss.

Okay, I write erotic romance. There’d been more than a kiss, but I wanted to keep my post PG rated.

Have I missed your favorite? Please tell me who you’d have included.

Kryssie Fortune lives by the beach and loses track of time when she writes. Her days are full of dashing regency rakes, former soldiers so handsome they make her drool, and the sexiest werewolves ever. The odd vampire makes it in there too, but when he does, he’s drop dead gorgeous.
Her pet hates are unhappy endings and cliff hangers. She guarantees you won’t find either in her books. Her books sizzle with sensual heat, but story always comes before sex. Even when part of a series, her books can be read as stand-alone romance.
