In a world gone to hell, better to choose the devil you know…

The world didn’t end in fire and explosions, instead after an intensifying panic of disease, food shortages, wild weather, and floundering economies, it collapsed like slow falling dominoes, until what remained of humanity battles for survival in a harsh new reality.

As a ‘Hound, Charity puts the lethal survival skills learned at an early age to use by sniffing out pivotal secrets for one of the most powerful leaders on what remains of the west coast. Her work is deceptive, deadly, and best performed solo, but when her path crosses with a member of the notorious mercenary group known as Fate’s Vultures, she’s faced with a less than stellar choice – join the sexy as hell Ruin in a mockery of teamwork or waste her valuable time shaking him loose.

As one of Fate’s Vultures, a nomadic band of ruthless arbitrators, Ruin knows well the type of carnage created by the corruption and greed of what remains of humanity, so when he rides into a brutal murder scene and discovers his friend has been taken hostage, he’ll use whatever resources he can to save him. Even if one of those resources is a damn ‘Hound who’s clearly trouble. Trouble, Ruin knows he should avoid, especially since the suspicious circumstance of Charity’s involvement leaves every cell of his body skeptical – and painfully aroused.

But Fate has other plans, especially when Ruin and Charity realize they have a common enemy. Can they set aside their distrust to achieve their mutual goal of justice and revenge?

Sometimes, it’s better to stick with the devil you know…

What type of MC club do you depict?

Welp, since my story takes place about 70 years after society as we know it collapses, think of Fate’s Vultures as a mix of ex-military, vigilante, bounty hunter cowboy types. Their hats may be a dingy gray, but they hold to their unique sense of honor and serve their community in their own unique way.

What level of violence do you depict, and why?

This particular series is pretty dark, mainly due to the setting. After the world imploded under sweeping pandemics, food shortages, wild weather and floundering economies, humanity has been reduced to survival by any means necessary. There’s not much room for polite discourse and many opinions are made clear by fist or weapon. So fair warning, this is not a series for the faint of heart.

Describe the place where the club meets, and where it’s located.

The series opens in Pebble Creek which is loosely based on American Falls, Idaho. I started there, because the landscape of the US is very different than what we’re used to today. States’ borders have shifted and some have been completely erased. State parks have taken over surrounding locations and rivers and earthquakes have redrawn the land. Pebble Creek is a central location as Fate’s Vultures travel down into Arizona, through Utah, over into Colorado and up into the pacific northwest.

Fill us in about the members of your club. What are their names and ages?

Their intrepid leader is Reaper, after serving in the Border Wars, he’s got his own secrets, but at 33, he’s their strategist and all around bad-ass.

His second in command is Havoc, a man of few words, he’s stood at Reaper’s side through a lot of thick and even more thin, but life has not been kind to this 32 year old closeted knight in rust armor.

Then come the twins, Ruin and Vex. At 28 they keep Reaper and Havoc on their toes. While Ruin is all lazy charm, his sister, Vex, is all sharp spice. After Reaper and Havoc plucked them from the mean streets, their loyalty to Fate’s Vultures is unquestionable.

Which member is most likely to need bailing out or a cover?

Unquestionably, that would be Vex. I don’t think she’s met a boundary she hasn’t pushed and it’s going to take a unique personality to balance her dance with the devil take on life.

Who do the other members go to when they need personal advice?

Strangely enough, that would be the not so verbose, Havoc. Despite his bruiser appearance, he’s the steadiest one of the bunch. Which is why when Mercy crosses his path, his world is set off kilter.

    For Ruin

If you could choose a theme song, what would it be?

This one ain’t easy, but I’ll go with Something Else by Seether.

What would the ringtone be for your leader?

Big Bad Wolf by In This Moment, cuz y’know the title says it all.

What would the ringtone be for your significant other?

Hmm, gonna go with Desperado by Rihanna on that one, tho’ Charity might disagree.

Where do you hang out when you’re not with the club?

Considering there aren’t many I like to hang with outside the Vultures, I’m gonna have to pick my man, Simon. Of course, if Vex is around, we might not get a chance to enjoy a bottle of home-brew.
