    About the Author
Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Men of FTI  series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, drinks wine, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.

    A Villain for Vanessa a new #RomanticSuspense by @AliceOrrBooks #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

“Alice Orr is a brilliant writer who has a number one best seller in her pocket,” says one Amazon reviewer. Alice loves to write. Especially romantic suspense novels and blog posts. She’s been a workshop leader, book editor and literary agent. Now she lives her dream of writing full-time. So far she’s published fifteen novels, three novellas and a memoir – both traditionally and independently. Alice wrote her nonfiction book, No More Rejections: 50 Secrets to Writing a Manuscript that Sells, as a gift to the writers’ community. A revised edition is now in progress. Amazon says, “This book has it all.” And calls her novels, “Delicious well written suspense spiced with a love story.” Most of all, Alice is thrilled to hear from readers. Visit her website at http://www.aliceorrbooks.com. Alice has two grown children and two perfect grandchildren and lives with her husband Jonathan in New York City.

    Interview with Alice Orr

Why did you write this book?
I’m fascinated by complicated families. You might call them messed-up families. I come from one. Many people I know come from one. The Kalli family is central to my Riverton Road series. They are definitely complicated, but they aren’t what I’d call messed-up because they’re all about love and loyalty. Vanessa (the heroine of A Villain for Vanessa) is a Kalli on one side, but she’s a Westerlo on the other. The Westerlo family is a mess in some pretty bizarre, maybe even evil ways. There’s been a murder in their midst after all. I wanted to find out how Vanessa would deal with being thrust into such a situation. Plus how she’d handle the added confusion of falling in love at the same time. Something similar once happened to me, minus the murder. Vanessa copes better than I did. Creating her and her story was my do-over opportunity.
What is your favorite genre to read?
My Suspense love affair began very innocently with reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers. I’ve been a late-night reader ever since, and danger has always felt like the natural companion for darkness. The stakes are much higher in the stories I read now than they were for Nancy Drew. I also like a love story in the mix these days. Life or death? Happiness or heartbreak? That’s what keeps me turning pages, with or without a flashlight.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
She comes from the romantic side of my bookshelf. Though there’s suspense in her story and a lot at stake too. My favorite character is, and probably always will be, Katie Scarlett O’Hara. I have no excuse for it. I know she’s a bad girl. She’s selfish and willful. She’s a liar and a man-thief. She’s also strong and determined, and she refuses to give up no matter what obstacles are stacked in her path. Not even those dirty Yankees can stop her. I love her fire and her courage most of all. Like I said, I know she’s a bad girl. But I’ve heard that good girls go to heaven while bad girls go everywhere. Maybe I just want to go everywhere, or at least imagine I have.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve begun to write Book 5 of my Riverton Road Romantic Suspense series. It’s called A Time for Fear and Feasting. In Book 3, I introduced a second Riverton family, the Millers of Miller’s Inn. Amanda is the middle daughter of that family. The solid, dependable daughter. Even through almost five years of widowhood, she could always be counted on as the chef at the Inn kitchen who never caused any personal heat for anybody. Now she’s ready to break away from all of that, especially from being taken for granted. A friend in serious danger gives Amanda one reason to explode out of the expected. An irresistible man named Jack gives her another.
Please tell us about your latest book.
A Villain for Vanessa by Alice Orr
A story of tangled roots and tormented love.
Two families are shaken to their roots. Vanessa Westerlo must find her roots. Bobby Rizzo is torn between Vanessa and his true roots. They are all tormented by love – past and too present. Meanwhile a man has been murdered. And that’s the most tormented tangle of all.
Alice Orr is known for “Delicious well written suspense spiced with a love story.”
She does it again in A Villain for Vanessa.
A Villain for Vanessa is Book 4 of the Riverton Road Romantic Suspense series set in Riverton, New York. This book features the Kalli family and the fortunate people who find safety and welcome at the Kalli homestead on Riverton Road. A Wrong Way Home is Book 1 of the series and A Year of Summer Shadows is Book 2. A Vacancy at the Inn is Book 3 and introduces the Miller family of Riverton Road Hill.

    Barbara’s Redemption a new #romanticsuspense novel by @Diane_Saxon #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about Diane Saxon and her story, Barbara’s Redemption.

    About the Author

Diane Saxon lives in the Shropshire countryside with her tall, dark, handsome husband, two gorgeous daughters, a Dalmatian, one-eyed kitten, ginger cat, four chickens and a new black Labrador puppy called Beau, whose name has been borrowed for her hero in For Heaven’s Cakes.
After working for years in a demanding job, on-call and travelling great distances, Diane gave it all up when her husband said “follow that dream”.
Having been hidden all too long, her characters have burst forth demanding plot lines of their own and she’s found the more she lets them, the more they’re inclined to run wild.

    Interview with Diane Saxon

Why did you write this book?
I held a launch party for one of my previous books and one of the games we played was for everyone to put their name into a hat, and the winner got a walk on part in my next book. This happened to be Flynn’s Kiss, Book #1 in my Disarmed & Dangerous series. The winner, Barbara Ann Perry was so delighted, she didn’t want to be a gentle sweetheart – no – she wanted to be a kick ass female. Well, actually she would really have liked to be a psychotic killer, but we smoothed that out a little between us.
By the time her sassy and strong willed character hit the first few pages of Flynn’s Kiss, I knew the woman had to have a whole book of her own.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Romance. Almost any sub-genres, but mainly thrillers, suspense, historical, contemporary and paranormal. And I love humour, so bring on the Julia Quinns and the Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Do you know, I’m quite fickle. There are so many that I love, but I have to say I read Tim by Colleen McCullough many years ago, before it was turned into a film and my heart almost exploded with love for him.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’m torn. I’m currently working on If Love Had Wings, a follow-up to Banshee Seduction, but there’s another character being a bit pushy and wanting her own story, so I’m also writing one of my Atlantic Divide series too. Whichever one takes my fancy at the time.
In the coming months, there’s going to be quite a bit of activity from me. I have Gun Shy coming out in August and several other projects which I’ll talk about more next time.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Black Hawk pilot Captain Barbara Lynn Perry is running scared. Witness to an event too horrible to think about and too dangerous to talk of, she finds herself alienated from a world she has always had faith in.
With her Special Forces brother missing, she has only one other person to turn to. When her friend Flynn Swann isn’t available, Barbara is left with no choice but to trust the man Flynn sends to save her.
Psychiatrist Dominic Salter’s information from her superior officer’s file is that Barbara has gone rogue. Despite the damning evidence, every instinct tells him he’s dealing with an honorable woman, one who single-handedly saved Flynn from torture and a sure death. Dominic’s challenge is to delve his way beneath her tough, defensive attitude and coax the truth from a woman who’s too frightened to reveal her dark secret.
In his brand new facility containing a state of the art Dreampsych Transcender he’s experimenting with, a machine far beyond a simulator, Dominic has to gain the trust and confidence of Barbara while he resists the hard pull of attraction to this kick-ass woman.
Betrayed by a member of his staff, events take a sinister turn, and the pressure is on in a fight against time for Dominic to persuade Barbara to put her trust in him and reveal the truth before matters are taken out of his hands.

But underneath she feels she is about to shatter. After remaking herself, how can she deal with being faced with Nash and the life she knew before?
If this chance meeting doesn’t rip Chloe and Nash apart, he will.
Little do they know, someone has been lurking in the shadows, manipulating them all along. If he has his way, the two will never be reunited. Even if he has to take one of them out to ensure it.

    Stressing The Heroine

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better, by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles stress.

    The Heroine’s Relaxed Side

This heroine is at a party. Considering her story, describe the party.
Chloe is at an office cocktail party. She works for a large real estate agency so there are big-time clients here, brokers, other realtors, bankers, etc. It’s in the boss’ posh penthouse apartment, white furniture, waiters with trays of champagne, everyone’s dressed up.
How does the heroine feel about being this particular party, and what body language is she displaying that gives it away?
She is totally at home, working the crowd. Mostly the men in the crowd. Only a few of the women will even talk to her. She moves with ease, throws her head back and laughs, does a lot of touching.
Is she more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
    Mingle. Definitely mingle.
If she drinks, what is her drink of choice at this party?
She like champagne or wine or mixed drinks, the more lethal the better.
How much drink is her usual?
    6-8
The heroine figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
She is more than likely sneaking off to be with a man in private.
Is she likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend that others latch onto?
She would be floating from man to man, but if anyone was troubled, she would try to talk to them. Although outwardly into playing games, under the surface she is a very sympathetic and compassionate woman.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?
Chloe would feel very uncomfortable if a fight broke out and would probably cut out.
Is the heroine the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
She would be more likely to be tossed. Either by a jealous female or, if she’s really snockered and getting out of control, the host/hostess.
Will she know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?
She would probably be one of the earlier departees, leaving with someone she didn’t come with.

    The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side

How does the heroine handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was blameless in a situation?
It depends on the night. She would either be meek and mild (she doesn’t really like confrontation) or mouthy. Actually, she’d probably try to flirt with the cops, if they were male.
How does the heroine react to hearing a scream?
    Terrifies her.
If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses her mind?
She would freeze up, thinking back to all the times she was scared growing up. She would want to run away.
If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?
She would go berserk trying to help them. She could not let it go on.
This heroine attempts to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does she do?
Emotionally buckles in for the ride. She’s been here before, knows the pain, know that she will survive.
The heroine runs into the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does she do?
This actually happens in the book when she runs into Nash. She withdraws within. Hopes to avoid any authentic interaction, but can fake her way through for a short time.
Someone younger than the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?
She would step in to help and kindly explain to the younger person what she was doing and why. She would reassure them that she would have reacted the way they did when she was younger.
The heroine is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself in order to get through the situation?
I’ve been here before. I can take it. No one will destroy me.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
She would be thinking of things Nash’s mom said to her. Or perhaps her dad.
What lesson from her past gets her through a stressful situation?
Surviving her past is what gets her through.

    A Taste of Tragedy a new #RomanticSuspense by @kimmcmahill #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Kim McMahill grew up in Wyoming, which is where she developed her sense of adventure and love of the outdoors. She started out writing non-fiction, but her passion for exotic world travel, outrageous adventures, stories of survival, and happily-ever-after endings soon drew her into a world of romantic suspense. Along with writing adventure novels Kim has also published over eighty travel and geographic articles, and contributed to a travel anthology and cookbook. Kim recently relocated to Colorado. When not writing, she enjoys gardening, traveling, hiking, and spending time with family.

    Interview with Kim McMahill

Why did you write this book?
A Taste of Tragedy is the second novel in the Risky Research series. The series explores how far a deadly group will go to control the 40-100 billion dollar-a-year diet product industry, and the lengths two dedicated FBI agents will go to stop them. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun paying more attention to what I eat and my overall health. The more I read about nutrition and fitness the more confused I become. Available research isn’t much help since often one study appears to contradict the next, and by nature I’m a little skeptical of what I read when a lot of money is at stake. So, as I look for answers I’ve enjoyed taking the subject and twisting it into a suspense series.
What is your favorite genre to read?
    Adventure Suspense
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Dirk Pitt from Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt Series
What are you working on at the moment, and what will we see from you in coming months?
I’m currently working on the third novel in the Risky Research series, A Foundation of Fear. It’s got a ways to go, so I don’t have a release date yet. In this novel we get to know the antagonist on a much more personal level and learn that even the most deadly assassin may have something to fear.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Morgan Hunter sacrificed everything for her career. She had yet to encounter anything she wasn’t willing to do to succeed…until now. When she uncovers evidence that the healthy foods she’s been hired to promote may be dangerous, she must reevaluate her priorities. As questions mount and the body count rises, she finds herself caught in the crosshairs of an organization that will stop at nothing to hide its secrets and protect its profits. With no one else to trust, Morgan is forced to seek help from the man she drove away, but whom she never stopped loving.
