Will the worst day of Sarah’s life
turn out to be her luckiest?
    By all outward appearances, Sarah
Marshall is successful and happy. Only her therapist knows her inner turmoil.
She thought she had conquered her fear of abandonment until her fiancé Jamie
doesn’t show up for their wedding.
After Jamie leaves Sarah waiting at
the church, she feels that he tossed her aside just as her father did when she
was a baby. Now the only way for Sarah to
understand why men treat her this way is to find her father and ask him what
was so wrong with her that he left and never wanted to meet her.
    Sarah’s search exposes lies that
shock her. Will her discoveries help her feel secure enough to recover her
sense of self and move on with a new relationship?

    Introducing Sarah Marshall

This interview is designed to tell readers about your hero
    or heroine.
    Name: Sarah Marshall
    Age: 28
    Gender: female
    Birthplace: Los Angeles
    Profession: blogger and writing teacher
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Caucasian
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight.
Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: Dark curly
hair, light brown eyes, lean build from running, has a ‘girl next door’ appeal
    Who is the
significant other in your character’s life?
    Julian Butler
    Tell us about this
    character, please.
Julian is a very successful actor in Hollywood. He sometimes
finds it difficult to remember that he’s a man just like any other – that his
movie stardom doesn’t make him a better person than anyone else. When he feels
like he’s getting too far from reality, he likes to go away to a resort where
his anonymity is assured. He has dated many women, often for publicity purposes
for a new movie. He’s not the marrying kind, and he makes sure every woman
understands that they shouldn’t look for more than a casual relationship.
    What is your
    character’s family like?
Sarah grew up with her single mother and her grandmother.
Her grandfather died early from a heart attack, and her father left when Sarah
was just a toddler. Her mother is a workaholic and distant emotionally, but luckily
for Sarah, her grandmother is warm and caring. As a result, she is closer to
her grandmother who taught her all the things a mother normally would have.
Both Sarah’s mother and grandmother are tight-lipped about her father. They
don’t answer the questions that Sarah needs answered, but the time comes when
Sarah needs to find those answers herself.
    How do others
perceive your character based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
Sarah looks like the ‘girl next door.’ When people see her,
they make several assumptions about her, in particular, that life is easy for
her because of her looks. This judgment, though, is completely inaccurate. Yes,
Sarah functions fairly easily on the surface. She did well at school and now
does well in her work. But inside, Sarah is in turmoil about her value as a
woman. Why would her father abandon her and never try to have a relationship
with her. What is so wrong with her that he’d never want to know her?
    What inner doubt
causes your character the most difficulty?
Sarah doubts her value as a woman in relation to men. She is
confident regarding her studies, her work, her interactions with friends, but
she doubts that any man will value her in the way that a woman needs.
    What past event
causes your character the most fear?
Being abandoned by her father is at the root of her fear of
abandonment. She doesn’t understand how her father could have abandoned her
when she was a very young child and never wanted to have a relationship with
her. She has worked through some of that in therapy, but her fear of
abandonment comes raging back when she is left at the altar.
    How does your
    character handle challenges?
Sarah handles challenges in work by facing the problem and
working out a logical solution. But when it comes to challenges in a
relationship with a man, she runs away or sublimates her own needs. She finds
it impossible to understand the problems in her relationships with men,
thinking that something is wrong with her.

    About Your Writer

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
Kate chose to write about me because she understands the
emotional difficulties that I faced and wanted people to realize that a
person’s life isn’t always as easy as it may seem to outsiders.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
I thought long and hard about this question. There must have
been something that I didn’t want exposed, but actually, I couldn’t find
anything that I wish Kate hadn’t told. In order for the story to be clear, she
    had to tell everything.
    What other character
from your book do you think your writer should write a book about, and why?
I think that Kate should write a book about Julian. His life
as a wealthy movie star isn’t as easy as many of us believe. With fame comes
many complications, especially loss of privacy. Many people think it’d be great
to have lots of adoring fans, but it becomes invasive. I think this would make
    a very good book.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
I think that writing for Kate is very therapeutic. She has
so many characters and stories spinning around in her head that she has to get
them out into a book or she just might go crazy.
    Is there anything
you’d like to say to your writer?
I’d like to thank Kate for putting my story out there so
that it can perhaps help some other people who are in the same situation that I
    was in.

Cole Tucker from False Impressions @Mariannericeaut #Contemporary #RLFblog

    Interview with Cole Tucker
    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
I love women. Not much more to stay than that (He winks and flashes
his dimple). Not the answer you’re looking for? Okay, well, for years I’d been
the party guy. But after a run in with a tree after a few too many beers, I had
to reevaluate a few things. My folks were getting too old to run the horse farm
so I’ve taken over that, as well as managing the properties my brothers and I
own. They’d settled down with their wives and careers but good ‘ol Cole and his
lack of a real job was here to run things. Damn. I sound like a depressed
loser. So not the impression I’m used to making. So, how’re you doing? I
appreciate you reading about me. Hey, don’t I know you? Yeah, you’re the girl
    with the beautiful smile.
What can you not do (but
need to do) during this story?
I should tell Sam about my past. About my DUI. But she lost her
daughter and husband to a drunk. I don’t want to be put in the same category as
    that murderer. But I am, aren’t I? No, I’m not. I wasn’t an alcoholic. I didn’t
depend on the stuff to make me happy, but I did enjoy having a cold brew in my
hand when I watched the Sox or Patriots kick some butt and when I barbecued or
hung out with my brothers. Quitting wasn’t hard. But I was  ashamed of being so stupid that I drove while
intoxicated; I didn’t want Sam to know how weak I’d been. I’d been able to make
her and her son smile and laugh again. It made me proud and gave me something
positive in my life to look forward to. I couldn’t crush her smile with my
secret. I cared about her too much. But I needed to tell her the truth.
Unfortunately she found out before I could come clean.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
I don’t like to take life seriously and doubt my ability to be good
enough for the most perfect, kind-hearted, loving woman in the world. And what
kind of role model would I be for her son? Woah. We’re getting a bit too deep
here. Let’s talk about you. I don’t want you to think I’m ridiculous or
anything, but you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I just felt
like I had to tell you.
    Tell us about your
significant other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
Samantha Chase is the most perfect, kind-hearted, loving woman in the
world. She’s short, spunky and tough as nails, and there isn’t a word in the
dictionary for how good she looks. A lot of strength wrapped up in a pretty
package. She’s the bacon to my eggs.
    What would that person say
    about you?
I’m the master of pick up lines and proud of it. They’d gotten me out
of quite a few jams, but Sam would only roll her eyes and either brush off my
come on or give me a kick ass reply. I think I freaked her out in the beginning
by hitting it off with her son so quickly. But what can I say? The kid has
great taste in super heroes. I guess she thinks I’m a kid at heart.
    What is your family like?
Have you read Connor or Mason’s books yet? That’ll tell you a thing or
two. With three other siblings, life is never just chill (that’s my role in the
family—everyone else is a work hound). My mother has played her hand at
matchmaker and passed the role on to my sister-in-law. We get into everyone’s
business and are always there to support each other.
    What special skills do you
    rely on?
I’m really good with my hands.
Why are you happy (or not
happy) with the way your story ended?
I learned a lot about honesty and forgiveness, got the girl, an
amazing step-son and a bright future. So, yeah. Life is good.

    www.mariannerice.weebly.com
    What was your biggest
    challenge in writing this book?
Cole had a mind of his own. He had a line for everyone. Seriously.
Even me. I was struggling with a serious scene and he pops out and says, “Baby,
if you were words on a page, you’d be what they call FINE PRINT!” It was hard
staying on track with Cole distracting me every step of the way. He’s a
carefree, funny, charming guy and the master of pick-up lines, but he was
harboring an embarrassing secret. I needed to build his character without
making him seem too shallow, or letting his secret change his personality.
    Why did you choose this
    character for the interview today?
Because he’s fun but real. When I ask readers what they’re looking for
in a man they often say: loyalty, honesty, a sense of humor…and looks. Cole has
all these qualities, except he is harboring a secret. The secret wasn’t meant
to hurt anyone but to protect himself.
    When writing the book,
what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
Cole’s appearances in the first two books are pretty superficial and
fun, but I found a depth to him and deep feelings that he didn’t like to show
others. Well, Sam was able to find those. I just wrote what she was able to
discover. I also hadn’t planned on his connection with Levi, Sam’s son. The
interactions between the two were quite fun to write and were totally
    unplanned.
    Why should readers who
haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
While the premise of this book may seem serious, it’s actually quite
light-hearted. I wrote it when my son was four and incorporated many of our
conversations into Levi’s dialogue. I love seeing the interaction between Cole
    and Levi. It’s adorable.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
Thank you so much for picking up my books. The McKay-Tucker series is
my first set of books and I’m thrilled to have them in digital and print
formats for my friends, family and new readers. This has been an amazing
experience and I look forward to sharing many more stories with you. Sweet on
You, the first book in The Wilde Sisters comes out in September. They’re light,
fun, sexy and deal with many real-life emotional issues as well.

Recovering alcoholic and former party animal, Cole Tucker would be an
idiot to start something with his newly hired right-hand woman, Samantha Chase.
It figures he can’t seem to keep his mitts of the sexy, five-foot-nothing
single mom who can toss a sack of shingles over her shoulder and rewire a house
better than the crew from Extreme Home Makeover. Her incredible strength
and self-confidence draw him in; something Cole has pretended to have for
years. All he has to show for himself is his uncanny use of pick-up lines, a
hand-me-down farm and some small-town rental properties. When he learns Samantha’s
husband and daughter were killed by a drunk driver, the shame of his past
experience with a DUI and near-death accident is the last thing he wants to
    mention to her.
Samantha has no problem accepting her new boss, flaws and all. His
simple life is charming and exactly what she hoped to find for herself and her
son in Newhall, New Hampshire. Cole wins her over by befriending her fatherless
son and making her laugh again, something she hasn’t done in four years. When
she learns about his shady past with the bottle, her heart tells her to
forgive, but the painful memories of her past are too deep to overlook.

    Unexpected Assets new from @EmilyMimsAuthor #RLFblog #Contemporary

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Author of twenty romance novels, Emily Mims combined her writing career with a career in public education until leaving the classroom to write full time.  The mother of two sons and grandmother of three, she and her husband Charles live in central Texas but frequently visit grandchildren in eastern Tennessee and Hawaii.  She plays the piano, organ, dulcimer and ukulele and belongs to two performing bands.  She says, “I love to write romances because I believe in them.  Romance happened to me and it can happen to anyone-if she’ll just let it.”
Why did you write this book?
Jason Donahue is the fourth wounded warrior I have included in my Texas Hill Country series.  Jason and Emily appeared as supporting characters in ‘Daughter of Valor’ and they too had a story I wanted to tell.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Contemporary romance-anything from romantic suspense to small-town feelgoods to downright scary paranormals
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Eve Dallas from J.D. Robb’s ‘In Death’ series
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I am just starting my Christmas novella for Boroughs Publishing, tentatively titled ‘A Gift of Hope’.  The next installment in the Texas Hill Country series, ‘Never and Always’, should be out very soon.
Please tell us about your latest book.
    Wounded but Victorious
After three agonizing years of surgeries and rehab, U.S. Army veteran Jason Donahue is ready to leave the Iraq War in the past and rejoin society.  Yet, no matter the success he achieves at work, people wince every time they see him.
Everyone but Emily Riley.  From the first, the beautiful redhead looks past his disfigurement and sees him.  In return, Jason wants to buy her everything she deserves, starting with her dream home and going from there.  Yet Emily has scars of her own, a past she’s not ready to reveal.  Only when they both come clean, when they view each other through the eyes of love and trust, will they know that, when a good man and a good woman give each other their heart, the two will always have more than enough.

    Interview with EmKay Connor

    Why did you write
    this book?
I saw an invitation on Facebook to participate in a box set
featuring steamy beach reads. I’d been plotting a new series and this was the
perfect opportunity to launch the Hideaway Bay series. The first four novellas
feature the Delaney sisters-Joy, Hope, Grace and Faith. Each has a secret that
is ultimately revealed when they journey to Hideaway Bay, a tropical Caribbean
    resort.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
In addition to writing romance, I work as an author
assistant to several romance authors. That means I read a lot of romantic
fiction, across all genres, in the course of my day job. When I’m on my own
time, I read Robert Crais, Stuart Woods and good post-apocalyptic fiction. I’ve
recently discovered the Purge of Babylon series by Sam Sisavath.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
While I love Elvis Cole and Joe Pike (Robert Crais
characters), one of the most charming and engaging heroines I’ve ever
encountered is Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum.
    What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’m currently working on the remaining novellas in the
Hideaway Bay series, but I tend to have several projects in the works
simultaneously. The best way to stay in touch and see what’s next is to connect
    with me on social media.
