The Understudy: Acts of Submission by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre Contemporary BDSM Erotic Romance

Heat level (based on movie ratings) R/X

When the Berks Hills Summer Playhouse offered me my first real acting job, I never expected to share a stage with theater legend Geoffrey Hart – let alone his bed. Nothing in my education or experience prepared me for the paradoxical pleasures of submission.

Now I’m devoted to my master, for better or worse. According to the rumors, though, Geoff’s heart is taken. Dumped by his long-time sub, he has escaped to the Berkshires to lick his emotional wounds. Geoffrey’s dark games arouse me beyond belief, but I fear I’m just a substitute for the real object of his affections. Am I willing to settle for the role of understudy in this perverse passion play?

Note: This book was previously published by Totally Bound. It has been revised, expanded and re-edited for this release.

Read the romance Asian Adventures new from Lisabet Sarai @lisabetsarai #RLFblog #MulticulturalRomanceIn Asia, the lines blur: between body and spirit, fantasy and reality, male and female, lust and love. Explore the emotional frontiers of the Orient in these arousing and moving multicultural romance tales by Lisabet Sarai.

Lisabet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Asian Adventures.

Asian Adventures: Erotic Tales from the East by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre – Bisexual multicultural romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): X

Among the ancient ruins of Angkor, passion flares between a black American and her mercurial tour guide. A gay couple on a Vietnam holiday welcome a disabled woman into their circle of love. A construction worker from the Bible belt wrestles with his lust for a Bangkok ladyboy. In strait-laced Singapore, a brilliant entrepreneur tries to hide his secret vice from his attractive new business partner. Indulge yourself in Asian Adventures – a boxed set of lush, evocative erotic romance from an author who has made the East her home.

Why did you write this book?

I’ve been living in Asia for nearly than twenty years. During that time, I’ve traveled widely. I wanted to capture some of my experiences and share them with my readers. Although the characters and plots in Asian Adventures come mostly from my imagination, the settings are real. Asia truly is a paradox, a place where lines blur. These stories are fiction, but I hope they have the ring of truth.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I like variety, so it’s pretty difficult to choose a favorite. Right now I happen to be reading two mysteries: Body Work by Sara Paretsky, and Basket Case, by Carl Hiaasen. The two books could hardly be more different. The former is intricate, dark and violent, unfolding on the icy streets of a Chicago winter. The latter is light-hearted and humorous some would say silly–laced with quirky romance and set in sunny Florida. Both offer great characters, though. I’m also in the middle of an erotic horror tale by Aurelia T. Evans and I’ve just started an erotic romance (In His Arms) by my good friend Tina Donahue. Oh, there’s also the moral philosophy book I’m reviewing for a former professor of mine…

Check back with me in a month and I’ll likely be reading a whole different set of genres!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Last time I was asked this in an interview, my answer was Sherlock Holmes. But I’d forgotten about V.I. Warshawski, Sara Paretsky’s fantastic private investigator heroine. Unlike some series, Paretsky has allowed her character to age across different volumes. In the book I’m reading now, Vic is pushing fifty, worried about her finances and her family, in a feel-good relationship that she’s not sure has a future. She’s intelligent, experienced and tough, but like all of us she has her demons, and she’s very aware of how age has reduced her energy. The thing that draws me to her most strongly, though, is her moral sense. Despite her street smarts and world-weary attitude, she takes risks and makes choices based on compassion rather than calculation. I’d love to meet her in person.

What are you working on at the moment?

My major WIP right now is The Journeyman’s Trial, the second book in my series “The Toymaker’s Guild”. This is steam punk erotica with some romantic elements, set in an alternative Victorian England. Gillian Smith, the nineteen year old engineering genius who’s my heroine, is one of my favorite creations. I’ve got half a dozen chapters written so far. April will bring me some vacation time, which I hope to be able to devote to writing. My goal is a release in the third quarter of 2021.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

My next book, coming in April, will be a re-release of my BDSM erotic romance The Understudy, a tale about an ingenue and a seasoned veteran in a summer theater troupe. Then in May, readers can look forward to a new, expanded version of my polyamory tale, Truce of Trust.

Lisabet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Playing To Score.

Playing to Score by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre Gay BDSM Erotic Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): X-rated (explicit gay sex)

Matt was supposed to be just a hot hook-up. Then he turned on the charm and brought out the bondage gear.

Jason Hofstadter comes to the Four States Annual Scrabble Tournament for two reasons: to play for the trophy and to get laid. Every year since his first, he’s managed to score with one of the other guys attending. He figures that he’s hit the jackpot when he spots handsome, bookish Matt Sawyer, who’s competing at the Four States for the first time.

Shy and seemingly innocent, Matt turns out to be full of surprises. First he jumps Jason in the rest room at Starbucks. Then he reveals that he’s into BDSM and encourages Jason to top him. Finally, despite his lack of experience with tournament play, Matt ends up facing Jason across the board in the semi-final round. When Matt throws the game he should have won, Jason is forced to confront his own feelings: about winning, about casual sex, and about Matt.

Why did you write this book?

Originally, I wrote this novella for a boxed set entitled Gaymes. The publisher envisioned this as a collection of sports-themed MM romances, but honestly I have little interest in football, baseball or most other physical games. When I suggested to the editor that I could write a tale about Scrabble, she expressed some level of disbelief. In a sense, I wrote this story to prove that I could.

I love playing Scrabble myself, so it was easy to identify with Jason’s and Matt’s passion. Their passion for the game, I mean! The characters popped into my head more or less fully formed: Jason, the tournament veteran, focused, self-confident and dismissive of serious relationships; Matt, the newbie, with his nerdy good looks and his secrets. Once I got started, the story wrote itself. However, I’ve revised and expanded it for this release, to highlight the romantic connection between the heroes.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I read many genres, but I’m particularly drawn to science fiction and paranormal stories. I grew up on steady diet of Heinlein, Asimov and Bradbury. Meanwhile, all through my childhood my dad made up original ghost stories to entertain us. It’s not surprising that I love both genres as an adult.

The best scifi I’ve read in the past decade is The Windup Girl by Paolo Baccigalupi. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern might be the most enchanting and moving paranormal novel I’ve ever encountered. I recommend both of them highly.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

That’s another hard question. Possibly Sherlock Holmes. Arthur Conan Doyle’s complete opus has pride of place on my bookshelves. I’ve read it so many times that I feel I know Sherlock personally. Meanwhile, he’s everything a character should be: uniquely fascinating, often admirable, but deeply flawed.

Gillian Smith, the nineteen year old engineering genius who’s my heroine, is one of my favorite creations.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Aside from The Journeyman’s Trial, I will be republishing a number of romance titles from my back list, including my multi-genre mega-opus Rajasthani Moon. That novel was the result of another personal challenge: how many different romance subgenres could I hit in a single title. It’s a steampunk/ menage/ paranormal/ BDSM/ Bollywood/ Rubenesque spy story!

I’m also planning to put out some boxed sets, including the full Asian Adventures series which will release next month. Most of my work is available in multiple stores, but my boxed sets are Kindle Unlimited.

    Happy Birthday #14 Marketing for Romance Writers #MFRWauthor @MFRW_ORG #RLFblog #Authors

Happy Birthday #14 Marketing for Romance Writers #MFRWauthor @MFRW_ORG #RLFblog #AuthorsKayelle Allen here. Marketing for Romance Writers started in 2006 and is still going strong. All services and membership are free.

It began because, like all my friends, I was promoting, learning more about promoting, and asking friends about promoting. All the ins and outs of book marketing were starting to gel and I was beginning to understand the overall concept. Even so, I had a constant list of questions. Facebook was two years old. Twitter had been founded that year. Pinterest and Instagram were four years away. How was I supposed to promote on social media? Did I need a blog?

    So many questions

My friends all had the same questions, and we would email each other and ask. Often, I’d get the same question several times in a row. I found myself going back to my “sent” file to copy an answer and resend it. I was asking questions myself, plus I took time to go find an answer if someone asked and I didn’t know. Eventually, I got more and more questions.

It was Halloween, and I was busy with all sorts of details of writing, and I got the same question from two different people. I remember thinking that there had to be an easier way to do this. I needed a way to let everyone know what I’d discovered at the same time, and if I had a question, get an answer from someone who knew. Yahoo Groups was established and well-used, so I decided to create one that all of my friends and I could use together. We could post a question there, and anyone who knew the answer could reply.Happy Birthday #14 Marketing for Romance Writers #MFRWauthor @MFRW_ORG #RLFblog #Authors

I set it up as Marketing for Romance Writers because that’s what all of us were at the time. Our current members are not all romance writers, however. They come from all genres. Looking back, I’ve often wished I’d named it Marketing for Every Writer. Of course, then the initials would have been MEW vs MFRW and our symbol might have been a black cat!

In 2006, we had 12 members. Fourteen years later, we’re in the thousands. We now meet on IO Groups and our staff of volunteers produces a monthly magazine. We coordinate multiple blog hops to bring traffic to member websites, including Book Hooks and MFRWsteam.

Read the new vampire romance Fin d'Espoir by Lisabet Sarai @LisabetSarai #RLFblog #NewRelease #VampireRomanceA former slave turned vampire by his cruel mistress struggles against his nature in Lisabet Sarai’s new paranormal romance, Fin d’Espoir. Etienne de Rémorcy has vowed to never again taste human blood, but he cannot resist the young couple who offer not only their bodies but also their hearts.

Lisabet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Fin d’Espoir.

    Fin d’Espoir by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre: Bisexual Paranormal Erotic Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Bitter and alone, Etienne de Rémorcy haunts the forest around the ruined plantation of Fin d’Espoir. He has sworn to never again taste human blood. Then a fierce storm and a runaway horse bring a slender, raven-haired beauty to his lair. When she begs him to take her, he cannot resist.

Madeleine and Troy hope that a carefree vacation in tropical Jamaica will reignite their faded passion. On a mountain trail ride, Maddy’s horse bolts, carrying her deep into the jungle. Injured and lost, she is saved by a giant of a man whose mere presence kindles unbearable desire. By the time she understands his dark nature, it is far too late for her to escape.

When Maddy returns, Troy finds her greatly changed : ravenous in bed, restless and disturbed otherwise. The elegant stranger he meets on the beach holds the key to her transformation – and soon has seduced Troy as well.

Tortured by his conscience, Etienne is determined to set the young couple free. But their love may be his last hope for redemption.

Why did you write this book?

Fin d’Espoir was inspired by a trip I took to Jamaica, many years ago. On one tour, we visited a ruined plantation buried deep in the jungle. The brooding atmosphere of the place made a deep impression on me. When I decided I wanted to write a vampire character distinctly different from the typical Caucasian, Dracula-inspired blood drinker, that experience came back to me. The book includes other scenes from that journey as well, including a midnight swim in the lava-rock grottoes of Negril.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I read a wide variety of genres, so it’s quite difficult to pick just one. However, if you force me to do so, I think I’d select science fiction. I’ve been reading scifi since I learned how to make out the words on the page, starting with the Mushroom Planet books, moving on to Heinlein and Bradbury, branching out to Philip K. Dick, Neal Stephenson, Octavia Butler, Sherri Tepper, and more. The explosion of books by indie authors offers a wealth of new and exciting choices in the genre.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

That’s another tough question! I don’t think I can provide an absolute answer, since I’m very influenced by what I’ve read lately. One character who comes to mind is Miss Alexia Tarabotti from Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series. I tend to like female characters with strong opinions who aren’t afraid to speak their minds.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently writing the second to last chapter of a novel called The Pornographer’s Apprentice, first book in a steam punk erotica series, The Toymakers Guild. I write a good deal of out-and-out erotica, as well as erotic romance. This book is a lot of fun – in fact it features a smart, strong heroine who isn’t afraid to speak her mind! But I probably won’t be featuring it on Romance Lives Forever.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’d like to bring out a sequel to my MM science fiction romance The H-Gene, which was released a few months ago. It’s the first book in a series called After the Plague. I also plan a mature romance for the holidays, possibly reprising the 60+-aged characters from Gray Christmas.

The chance to start life all over with the help of a stranger.
Twenty-two-year-old Sophie Levesque has been guardian to her eight-year-old sister Mia since their mother’s death a few years ago, and it hasn’t been easy. Luck comes their way when they inherit a small house in Hobart. Problem is, though, they don’t know and have never heard of Clara Bellinger, the testator. Settling into their new life, Sophie is still afraid it’s all a mistake.
Mark O’Connor, attorney in Hobart and the bearer of the good news for Sophie and Mia, curses himself for the lack of information about the testator. However, researching the questions gives him an opportunity to see Sophie again, and the more time he spends with the two, the more he realises that his life is missing something. And it’s not his casual lover Linda.
But then there’s Zach, Sophie’s sexy neighbour from across the road… and a very good friend of Clara’s.
Will unravelling the mystery unravel Sophie and Mark’s promise of a future?

    Mixing business with pleasure…
For Vince, general manager of Dream Machines Custom Motorcycles, the annual trip to the world famous motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota is never about just business. Every year there are plenty of cool bikes and hot women, both of them ready for a laid-back joyride. But this year the boss sent along the company’s newest hire—a woman. And Tori is all business.
    Kissing is overrated…
She may manage the order process at Dream Machines, but with a degree in biology, Tori isn’t just another pretty face. As Vince and Tori become a finely-tuned team in the sales booth, he also discovers she’s not as straight-laced as he’d thought. Then late one night he reveals a secret he’s never shared with anyone—and the reason he doesn’t like kissing.
    Never too late to learn…
The fact that Vince avoids kissing has never stopped him from getting what he wants from women. But Tori is determined to teach him what he’s been missing: Slow, sweet, mind-blowing, heart-racing kissing. But when their fragile new romance is threatened, will Tori kiss him goodbye? Does what happens in Sturgis only last as long as the rally? Or can Vince find it in himself to make the kissing last forever?
