Fiction Furbaby: Meet Piper from Charm Me by Tena Stetler @tenastetler #RLFblog #Pets
A witch yoga instructor is surprised by the rugged Navy Seal owner of MoonRidge Gun Club in Tena Stetler’s Candy Hearts paranormal romance, Charm Me. Will Valentine Magic bring them together forever?
Tena welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We support all furbabies, real life or fictional. We want to know all about your Fiction Furbaby, but first, please tell us about Charm Me.
Charm Me by Tena Stetler
Genre Paranormal Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Summer Dawn Rylie’s an extraordinary elemental witch whose troubled past haunts her. She’s created a calm life for herself teaching yoga and keeping people at a distance. Her life takes a one eighty degree turn when she enrolls in a women’s weapons class and meets ruggedly handsome Devlin Sawyer.
Devlin, a former Navy Seal, has sworn off women after two long-term failed relationships, but there is no denying his attraction to Summer. She intrigues him like no other woman ever has. Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?
Meet Piper from Charm Me
Full name: Piper
Nickname:Pip
Gender: Female
Species: Chow Chow dog
Physical description: big and furry
Relationship to main character: Canine companion/trained guard dog
Relationship to the villain/antagonist: hate
Where this furbaby came from: a kennel
Do you have any working or service animals in your stories? Tell us about them.
Yes. Piper is a trained guard dog to protect Summer Dawn Rylie.
In several of my other stories involving Wildlife Rescue (A Witch’s Journey Series) the dogs, birds, and reptiles play important roles.
What inspired you to create this character?
I was taking my puppy to obedience classes. In our class was a yoga instructor with her dog. I considered how a woman/witch alone would need protection in the mortal world. I created Piper, Summer’s guard dog with a few fun loving quirks. In fact Piper nearly takes over the story.
How do other characters react to or interact with this furbaby?
Summer’s two assistant yoga instructors absolutely adore Piper and she likes them. But when it comes to Devlin, the hero, Piper isn’t so sure this new man in Summer’s life is to be trusted.
What about this furbaby will readers like, and why?
Piper is completed dedicated to Summer and her well-being. While her main duty is protection, she still is a heartwarming canine companion.
Please share an interesting fact or tidbit about this furbaby.
Piper LOVES beef jerky. That’s one way the hero wins her over.
Describe a humorous incident involving the animal character.
Devlin, the hero, brings Summer, the heroine, her favorite hot drink on a cold, snowy winter day. He walks into the yoga Studio and is greeted by Piper in full snarl. He backs off and calls out to Summer. She calls off Piper and takes the drink.
About My Furbabies
Taco an Eclectus parrot,(23 years old) and Mystic our chow chow dog (9 years old). I also have Sammie, 52 year old Box Turtle.
These two bonded when we brought Mystic home as an eight week old pup. Taco had been through two prior dogs in her lifetime. Each one she nurtured from inside her cage as they lay below or beside her cage with her baby talk or soothing words. She mourned the passing of each dog, but happy to accept a new pup. Taco has a 250 word vocabulary that she uses in context.
If I have harsh words for Taco or Mystic for bad behavior, the one not in trouble comes running to get between me and the companion in trouble barking or screaming depending on if it’s Taco or Mystic.
Mystic has several awards. AKC Star Puppy (earned at 6 months) AKC Companion Dog title (Earned at 13 months), Obedience I & II, and several agility fun match 1st and 2nd place finishes. As she has gotten older, she guards the house, the RV and Truck but allows the order takers at Dutch Brothers access to the truck and to pet her. She also loves their puppachinos (whipped cream and dog biscuits). LOL
I believe this picture reflects Taco and Mystic plotting to take over the world. LOL
Which, if any of the pets in your writing are modeled after your own pets? In what way?
The dogs in my stories pretty much reflect Mystic’s quirks, humor (yes, dogs and other animals do have a humor) and attitude.
Taco sits on my shoulder or on her play stand in my office.
Mystic checked in about every hour or so and lets me know all is well inside and outside. Or if it’s not, she makes that quite clear.
What’s the most unusual pet you ever had?
We had an iguana for 15 years. His name was Fluffy. He was a sweet lizard. Still miss him.
Where did you find your pet?
Chow breeder, Parrot breeder, our turtle was a rescue, Fluffy came from a pet shop.
What do you feed your pet?
We prepare special parrot food for Taco. Mystic gets kibble and a bit of canned food.
Sammie – loved Taco’s cooked parrot food, Mystic’s canned food, and spaghetti.
Describe a toy or favorite item your pet loves.
Taco loves anything she can destroy, wooden toys, pinecones, metal spoons she can bang together. Noise is the name of the game on some days.

Tena Stetler is a best-selling author of award winning paranormal romance novels. She has an over-active imagination, which led to writing her first vampire romance as a tween to the chagrin of her mother and delight of her friends.
With the Rocky Mountains outside her window, she sits at her computer surrounded by a wide array of paranormal creatures, with a Navy SEAL or two mixed in telling their tales. Her books tell stories of magical kick-ass women and strong mystical males that dare to love them. Travel, adventure and a bit of mystery flourish in her books along with a few companion animals to round out the tales.
Colorado is her home; shared with her husband of many moons, a brilliant Chow Chow, a spoiled parrot and a forty-five-year-old box turtle. Any winter evening, you can find her curled up in front of a crackling fire with a good book, a mug of hot chocolate and a big bowl of popcorn.

Read The Guy from the Park the new #SweetRomance by Birdie Song @birdiesong8 #RLFblog #MulticulturalRomance
Let’s get serious. Would you go out with a random stranger you met at a park? Neither would I… But the heroine of Birdie Song’s latest novelette, The Guy from the Park, is reconsidering her options. And you know, what? I don’t blame her.
Birdie, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Guy from the Park.
The Guy from the Park by Birdie Song
Genre Sweet Multicultural Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Summer days and new beginnings.
Off the back of a bad breakup, Sabrina Chen is getting her act together. But reinventing yourself isn’t easy at twenty-four, especially when you don’t know who you are. For starters, does she want to be the kind of person who fancies that grumpy random guy from the park? Daniel Ryce certainly doesn’t seem like vision board material, but since when does life go according to plan?
The Guy from the Park is a short and sweet “meet ugly” story, set in the world of Somerville Downs.
Why did you write this book?
When you only see a person in short bursts in the same place, you only have fleeting chances to get to know them and to let them get to know you. People naturally fill in the blanks with their own prejudices, assumptions and projections, which can lead to all sorts of dramas as well as missed opportunities.
I wanted to explore how two complete strangers might develop a mutual attraction in such circumstances. What forces in their own lives compel them toward each other, and what is it about who they are at the time that enable them to keep an open mind? Most importantly, how do they overcome their differences and find an HEA? (Or, rather, an HFN since this is a novelette about new beginnings.)
What is your favorite genre to read?
My book cravings come in phases. After reading Enni Amanda’s Christmas in July last year, I’ve got hankerings for tropey books featuring a lot of flirting. I’ve recently finished J. Leigh James’s Just Another Stupid Boy, which got intriguingly messy and then wrapped up so nicely. I’d like to read a romantic suspense or cosy mystery next, but still have a handful of contemporary reads I’m excited to devour.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Have you seen that meme that goes: “I am 60% the last book I read”? That’s kind of how I feel about fictional characters. Maybe it’s fickle not to have an all-time favourite character forever and ever, but I like the idea that maybe we evolve with every book we read. Whoever my favourite is today, I’m sure it’ll be a different story in a few books’ time!
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently outlining the next Somerville Stories novelette. It’s little romance set in a fictional bakery/dessert bar in a fancy part of my city. I’m not sure if I can call it a “multicultural romance” as both MCs are Asian, but it’ll still have that mellow Perth metropolitan vibe. Then in a couple of months, I’ll be revising The Guy from the Wedding, the next book in the Somerville Downs collection.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
After the complete farce that is my goal-setting ability, it’s best if I don’t make any promises. BUT if the stars align, I hope to have both of the aforementioned books ready to share with you early next year!

In a world gone to hell, better to choose the devil you know…
The world didn’t end in fire and explosions, instead after an intensifying panic of disease, food shortages, wild weather, and floundering economies, it collapsed like slow falling dominoes, until what remained of humanity battles for survival in a harsh new reality.
As a ‘Hound, Charity puts the lethal survival skills learned at an early age to use by sniffing out pivotal secrets for one of the most powerful leaders on what remains of the west coast. Her work is deceptive, deadly, and best performed solo, but when her path crosses with a member of the notorious mercenary group known as Fate’s Vultures, she’s faced with a less than stellar choice – join the sexy as hell Ruin in a mockery of teamwork or waste her valuable time shaking him loose.
As one of Fate’s Vultures, a nomadic band of ruthless arbitrators, Ruin knows well the type of carnage created by the corruption and greed of what remains of humanity, so when he rides into a brutal murder scene and discovers his friend has been taken hostage, Ruin will use whatever resources he can to save him. Even if one of those resources is a damn ‘Hound who’s clearly trouble. Trouble, Ruin knows he should avoid, especially since the suspicious circumstance of Charity’s involvement leaves every cell of his body skeptical – and painfully aroused.
But Fate has other plans, especially when Ruin and Charity realize they have a common enemy. Can they set aside their distrust to achieve their mutual goal of justice and revenge?
Sometimes, it’s better to stick with the devil you know…

Read Her Montana Man by Cheryl St John @_cherylstjohn_ #RLFblog #westernromance
Discover #Heartreads: In 2022 I am taking on promoting my entire backlist of books at the pace of one a week. I realized early on that this is a big job, but those early books are still dear to me, and readers are still enjoying them. This week I’m talking about Her Montana Man, a western romance I loved creating and writing.
Cheryl, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Her Montana Man.
Her Montana Man by Cheryl St John
Genre western romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
After covertly watching Eliza Sutherland’s daily walks to the tea shop and suspecting she has a secret, Jonas Black breaks his number one rule: He gets involved. He has never minded a good fight to clear the air. But she makes him feel out of control, and this time the fight is personal.
QUICK
Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…
Yes, I write historical western romance and contemporary romance.
How do you come up with ideas?…
I usually have a concept that intrigues me, and I develop the most interesting characters I can think of to populate this story idea. Characters come first, along with their traits and flaws.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?…
Conflict. When conflict is the character himself, the story is stronger and there is more tension.
When did you write your first book?…
When I was fourteen, I wrote a book about a gang from beginning to end. It was really terrible and obviously adolescent. I could say that about my first few books before I learned to write to sell with a plot and character development.
FUN
Leather or lace? I like leather purses and wallets, but lace clothing itches.
Black or red? Kind of love black. Especially next to pink or teal.
Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton all the way.
Ocean or mountains? Midwest girl here. Have seen both, but not drawn to live near either.
City life or country life? I’ve written so many ranch and farm stories, but I’m a city girl all the way. I want to run to the store or see a movie or eat out at the drop of a hat.
Party life or evening at home? I love gathering with family and friends, but I’m most often comfortably at home.
Dogs or cats? Both really, but if I had to decide…cats.

Bucket List of Brenna from Valkyrie Love by Viviana MacKade @ViviMackade #RLFblog #Fantasy
A Valkyrie, alone but free and a lost soldier craving redemption team up to save the last hope of the Elvin race, baby queen Fljóða. Feelings don’t belong on such an endeavor. Or to Valkyries. But like a stubborn flower, love grows in dirt.
Only one problem: now love is deadly.
Let’s meet Brenna from Valkyrie Love. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Valkyrie Love.
Valkyrie Love by Viviana MacKade
Genre Fantasy
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13
Valkyrie love never comes easy.
Brenna left Asgard with a curse on her name and a broken heart.
A Valkyrie now free and independent, for millennia her life had been great. Just great.
Then a bleeding Elf knocks at her door holding a baby.
Alexander Reed left the Marines and lost the wheel of his life.
A soldier without a worthy fight, he became everything he despised.
Until he ends up in the wrong backyard at the wrong time.
Fljóða, Queen of the Light Elves and last of her lineage, is an infant with a death sentence on her head.
Hunted by the Night Elves, her survival brings Brenna and Reed together for the ultimate mission: take the little Queen to safety in the Vanaheim Realm, deep in the Roots of Yggdrasil.
Not simple, but straightforward.
Or so it seemed.
Between flaming giants, demons, and an army of Half Breed determined to kill the Queen and conquer all the Elvin Realms, Brenna and Reed will have to face their inner monsters.
Monsters appearing in the form of feelings neither want but cannot control.
Brenna’s Bucket List
When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”
Age: (Chuckles) Let’s just say I haven’t been green for a very long time.
Gender: Female.
Birthplace: Asgard.
Profession: Reed and I run a centre that helps veterans to be reintroduced in civilian life.
Ethnicity: Not sure if Scandinavian is an ethnicity.
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m tall, and stronger than your average female. Black hair, long and ofter kept in a braid, and light blue eyes.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a Valkyrie. Or maybe I should say I used to be one. I had a long time to amass money, so when Reed met me I was taking some security job here and there, to stove off boredom. Then the war in the Roots started, and here we are. It gave me a completely different life.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Reed. Alexander Reed.
If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.
What is your birth order?
We, me and my Valkyrie sisters, were all created at the same time.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I’ve never had a childhood. I was. Created an adult.
Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.
I love Mexican food, the hotter the better.
Tell us about your best friend.
Reed is. I used to believe my sisters were my best friends, but I was betrayed by one and the others did nothing to help me so…. When I moved to Midgard, I had to keep moving – people tend to notice if you don’t age. Why bother making friends not only I knew I had to live, but I knew I would see die?
What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I visited every stupid corner of this pretty planet. I know the Root of Yggdrasil enough to travel it. I lived in Asgard. There’s literally nowhere I didn’t see. SO now I just want to stay in the home I built with Reed, see it growing, getting old in it. I want to see time pass and knowing I won’t have to go.
Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?
Muspelheim. Technically, Nifelheim is worse, but I still have nightmares about Muspelheim. And
Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?
I stumbled upon a piece of poetry by Shonto Begay, a piece about an old woman who has seen many winter. It spoke to me. I have seen so, so many. I’d like to talk to hi, see what inspired him to write it.
If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I’d go back and meet Reed’s parents, who passed away a few years back.
Meet Viviana MacKade
What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Keeping within the rules I created for each realm. Each was different, and my characters had to deal with each based on its rules. Keeping all the details straight was complicated, sometimes.
Why did you choose this character for the interview today?
Because neither she nor Reed wanted to do it, but she lost at Rock, Paper, Scissors.
When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
How lonely Brenna had been.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Maybe. Ulf, the Captain of the Vanir’s army is an interesting guy, And so is Mae.
What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
I’m good, honestly. I write in contemporary, and this was my first Fantasy.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
Because they are all adventures where characters don’t spend 53 pages going over the same thought, are not too stupid lo live, and things make sense. They are also all fast faced, no lagging in boredom. I’m always in a hurry as a person, and I think it’s reflected in my style as well.
