Dusty Cavanaugh is a beloved son/brother/uncle/father in a huge family. He’s raising his six-year old son alone and is operations manager at the Aspen Gold Lodge. Filling in for a handyman friend, he arrives at a lake house to find none other than Kendra, with her toe stuck in the bathtub faucet—and nothing but a tiny towel for cover. Clothes or no clothes, she’s still the woman he loves.
Who is the significant other in his life?
Kendra Price has loved Dusty Cavanaugh since they were kids. He shared his family with her, the only family she ever knew. They fell in love and planned to marry. But then Dusty betrayed her. She moved away and focused on her dancing career, but every summer she’s drawn back to the lake house she inherited. This summer she runs into Dusty at every turn. She is prepared to enjoy their company, or gently curb their exuberance if need be.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
She is usually just turning in then, since her business requires her to work nights.
How does she handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
She finds proper British society a bit stuffy and delights in poking at the conventions.

Alas, her maid left months ago when she was unable to continue paying her salary.

Most proper, when the occasion calls for it; and most improper when required.

Buttoned, usually. It’s cold on the water.

Powdered wigs went out of style ages ago, mon petit!

Horseback. Alas, the late Comte had to sell the carriage to pay debts.

Does he know how to fix things?
He only knows how to break things LOL.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
He will get emotional and probably have a fit. He’s got a quick temper and lacks patience. If something does not go right the first time, he becomes frustrated.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
He’s really good with children. Being in foster care, he can relate to all children. He will talk to them. Play with them if they wish to play. If they are sad, try and cheer them up. He adores kids.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
He’s a little bit sleepy, but rather excited because he’s living at “Castle Oshawee,” his dream place, so every morning is something special to him, especially since René is across the hall from his bedroom.
Can he use chopsticks?
No. He prefers a knife and fork.
Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?
Yes, he does. He likes about three containers of cream and four teaspoons or sugar. If he’s not drinking coffee, he’s all about root beer.
What apps would he have on his phone?
He’s a 90s teenager so he does not have a smart phone, but if he did, he would most likely enjoy social media, drawing apps, apps related to his culture.
Android or iPhone?
I would say iPhone. He’s artsy, and he’d love Apple products.
Beard or clean-shaven?
Clean-shaven.
Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Unadorned.
Personal vehicle or public transport?
He gets to use the other hero’s truck in the story, so a Ford F150 4×4.
Recycle or toss?
Recycle. He’s very respectful of nature.

If Mesa were alone and bored, she’d watch reruns of Beverly Hills 90210. And if she didn’t want to do that, she’d read a romance.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Pizza for sure.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Mesa’s not a fancy girl. Give her a pair of wrangler jeans, t-shirt with a pair of boots, and she’s happy. When the weather is hot out, she like to wear cut offs with tank top.
Does she know how to fix things?
Mesa was raised by her dad. He taught her how to take care of herself in the event that he wasn’t around to help her out. Before she got her drivers licenses, he taught her how to change a tire, check and change the oil and other fluids, and how to jump a car off if the battery went dead.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Mesa was told the McKane family needed her help. When she followed the guy to find out what was wrong and what she could do, she was almost raped. The guy had slipped her a date rape drug and had Stetson not showed up it time, things would have ended a lot differently than they did.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Mesa’s never really been around any kids. She’d like to have some of her own, one day, but right now she could take or leave them.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Mesa tries to look at everything in a positive way. When she wakes up, she’s just happy that she got another day to spend with the man she loves.
Can she use chopsticks?
Absolutely not. Mesa ends up very frustrated when she tries to use chopsticks to eat the steak that Stetson has grilled for her.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
What apps would she have on her phone?
The apps that you’d find on Mesa’s phone would range anywhere from Instagram (she doesn’t like Facebook or twitter) to photo editing, weather, fitness, YouTube, sleep aid fan noise, and of course the kindle app.
Android or iPhone?
She carries an iPhone.
Earrings or unpierced ears?
Mesa has her ears pierced and her belly button.
Tattoos or unadorned skin?
Mesa doesn’t have any tattoos at this time. She’s not opposed to them; she just hasn’t figured out what she wants yet.
Personal vehicle or public transport?
Mesa drives a grey 1981 Chevy step side pick up
Recycle or toss?
Mesa’s young, she’d toss it.

“As long as I get my breakfast promptly, I am quite civil in the mornings.”

“Any naval officer would conduct himself with the utmost propriety. Afterall we represent the King.”

He saddles his horse (or whatever alien species he’s tamed) and goes for a ride by the light of the moon (or whichever satellite orbits the planet he’s on).
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
A juicy beef burger with all the trimmings. Although he’s happy to eat whatever alien food is put in front of him, he still likes Earth food the best.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
He likes to wear his traditional Earth cowboy garb – jeans, checkered shirt, cowboy hat.
Does he know how to fix things?
He can fix most things on Earth, but for his spaceship and alien machinery he relies on the clever robots who accompany him.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
On the blue planet Albastra, he fell for the beautiful alien Melynas. He went on a date with her and almost took off his mask to kiss her. It would have been the death of him – Albastra’s atmosphere is saturated with radiation and micro-organisms which are lethal to humans.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
He likes children and is very natural around them. He likes to talk and play with them. Deep down, he longs to be a dad.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
Bright eyed and bushy tailed. Cowboys get up early!
How does he act around people who don’t know what he is?
He’s friendly and very polite with everyone he meets – be they human, alien or even machine.
Will he let a worker handle things or do it himself?
He will do it himself if he can, but he knows his limitations – complex technology is best left to robots.
Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Unadorned skin. Space cowboys generally don’t do piercings or tattoos as they can interfere with the skin treatments required to travel in space and visit alien planets.
Personal vehicle or public transport?
Spaceship.
Recycle or toss?
Always recycle. He’d never dream of polluting another planet.
