    About Your Writer: Questions
for your character to answer about you.
    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
I bugged poor Mary to write my story. She gave in and even enjoyed
    my story!
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
It was embarrassing for people to know that I had never even
kissed a boy or made out with one. (grin) And there was the day I learned what a
G spot was and that I had one! (giggle) She even told about my multiple orgasms.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
Mary has stories to tell and voices inside her head. She’s been
telling stories for so long I knew she had to tell mine. She listened to me instead
    of making up a story.
    What do you wish your
    writer would write next?
She ought to write her Demon sisters book.
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Mary needs to write about my lawyer and Raylene, my new best
    friend.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
Mary, get this book into print, please!
    Author Bio
Mary has been a storyteller for as long as she can remember.
She made up stories for the other children and created the details for their
“play like” or “let’s pretend” games. Sometimes the details
were so real they scared Mary.
    Mary was born in Augusta,
    Georgia to two eighteen-year
olds. Her daddy, a young Mississippi man, was stationed
at Camp Gordon and fell in love with a young girl
    selling flowers.
    Mary graduated from Mercer University
where her mama worked in the library. Her mama started working there when Mary’s
daddy went to college to become a preacher and a teacher. Mary taught language arts
for 15 years, perfect for her BA in English. Her M.Ed in Counseling served her well
during her years as a school counselor and as a teacher later.
Now she tutors, teaches writers, and edits. Her inner English
teacher loves the editing part. Mary helped her husband photograph hundreds of weddings.
Her daughter is her cover artist now. Danielle was raised in the photography business.
She doesn’t read Mary’s books. Something about TMI.

any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: He has short, dark hair,
tanned skin (natural from his genetics), and is muscular.
    Who is the significant
    other in your character’s life?
Before and after Ava, there was no one. In Another Night, Another
    Planet, he reunites with her.
    Does he scrape by, live
    comfortably, live extravagantly?
Nate has money to spend. Unfortunately, he is banned from most
planets due to his ancestry. Therefore, he appears to scrape by, saving money for
when he is ready to end his business.
    What special skills does
    your character rely on?
He relies on his speed and ability to coerce others.
What does he have a knack
    for doing?
He has a knack for getting himself into trouble. Sometimes he
uses words to sweet talk others, and other times he aggravates them.
    If someone from your character’s
past showed up, who would he most want it to be, and why? OR who would he most NOT
want it to be, and why?
He would really love to meet his parents, but they died long
ago. Therefore, he’d want to find the woman he left behind so many years ago.
    What past event causes
    your character the most fear?
He fears getting close to someone after being stolen away from
those he loved, and banned from ever returning to their planet.

Although he’d never admit it, he longs to find love again.
    If your character could
make any one thing happen, what would it be?
To be reunited with his long, lost love.
Who in his life has the
power to hurt this character the most? Why?
At the beginning of the story, his shipmate, Wyn, has the power
to hurt him the most. Nate fears Wyn finding love or even a better opportunity and
    leaving him all alone.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
Because she couldn’t get me out of her head. I just wouldn’t
leave her alone until she told my story. And let me tell you, I had to fight off
a bunch of other characters as well.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
Um, that would be what happens after intercourse. I don’t mean
for it to happen, but I can’t help it. It’s part of my genetics.
    Was there anything your
writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
I didn’t realize how much I’d missed Ava until I saw her again.
    When your writer is writing
about you, what do you think makes your writer the most happy? What makes your writer
    the most sad?
For some reason, she really enjoyed writing the scene where I’m
being chased by the Otarians. And what made her the most sad affected me the same
way, when I woke up and found Ava gone.
    Why do you think your
    writer loves to write?
It’s her way to escape to her own little world rather than pulling
her hair out. She doesn’t smoke, drink, or even have a coffee addiction, so she
    needs to de-stress somehow.
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Well, Wyn and Michelle got their happily-ever-after, even though
their story wasn’t told. But, I’m curious about Kalara and Jacobus’ relationship.
I mean, what couple gives erotic massages to others? But, then again, we were on
    Elatia, the pleasure planet.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
Thank you for giving me Ava back.

    About the Character

    Name: Logan
    Winter
    Age: 32
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Boston,
    MA
    Profession: Entrepreneur
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include
any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: His gray eyes are cool
enough to match his name. His dark hair is cut short, and his firm mouth speaks
of a man used to making decisions and ruling his world.
    Who is the significant
    other in your character’s life?
    He has no significant other.
    How does your hero dress?
    Logan dresses in a businesslike,
New England manner (think prep). He doesn’t care
about clothes, but he grew up in New England, so
these clothes are convenient for him and useful in his business dealings. Amanda
loves to see him with his oxford-cloth shirt rolled up to expose his tan forearms.
(Of course, she also loves to see him in fewer clothes, if possible.)
    What are the qualities
of his voice? (pitch, quality, volume)
    Deep, dark and seductive.
    If you could only hear
this character’s voice (but not see him) what characteristic would identify him?
Amanda could identify him by voice because his voice alone gives
    her goose-bumps.
    What is your character’s
viewpoint on wealth? Not necessary, nice to have, important, obtain at all costs?
    Wealth is something Logan
has, but life has taught him that money is much less important than other things.
    How do others perceive
your character based upon looks? How true is this assumption? Does your character
    care about those assumptions?
    Other people see Logan
as a rich playboy who works hard and plays hard. He only cares about the opinions
of his close friends, and they know he’s not superficial or spoiled by the fact
that he apparently can have whatever he wants. They know, as he does, that he can
never have what he wants most.
Can your hero keep a secret?
If not, why not? If yes, why?
    Yes, Logan
has been carrying around a tragic secret for a long time. It’s easy to keep the
secret because he has no desire to talk about the tragedy. At the same time, it’s
a huge weight on him because it affects every part of his life, yet he can’t talk
    about it.
    What is your hero’s biggest
    personal flaw?
He can separate his emotions from his relationships with other
people. This flaw prevents him from healing emotionally.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

    Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
She knew that I needed to be jolted out of my cold, emotionless
life. I wasn’t always happy with her plot machinations, but she knew exactly which
plot element I would not be able to turn my back on.
    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
I would have kept the secret about my family forevermore. It
was painful to re-open that wound.
    Was there anything your
writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
I was surprised to discover I was capable of love. I’d convinced
myself that I wasn’t. I’m grateful to the writer for showing me that important fact
that led me to my present happiness.
    When your writer is writing
about you, what do you think makes your writer the most happy? What makes your writer
    the most sad?
The writer is sad that she can never fix the tragedy that made
me who I am. She’s happy to engineer a happy ending. She wouldn’t rest until I got
    mine.
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Rosie deserves her own story. She’s not the kind of buttoned-up
employee I normally hire, but she turned out to be a true friend to both me and
Amanda. I’d love to see that imp get her own happily ever after.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
    Thanks!

    Author Bio

In Carly’s Real World: She is a wife to Traveling Man, who actually
knows flight attendants because they are on his “commute”. (That is his
story, and we’re buying it.) The upside is, Carly gets some sweet travel deals.
Once the whole family stayed for free in the Presidential Suite plus the Queen suite
at an all-inclusive 5-star resort in Cozumel. Another
time, they got upgraded from two garden-view rooms to two ocean-front suites on
    Waikiki Beach
    in Honolulu. Traveling
Man is very handy to have around.
Carly is also the Jill-of-all-trades to three offspring, who
often take her for granted, but are nonetheless wonderful. Just ask them. :)
In Carly’s Fantasy World: The men are tough, but the women are
tougher, though usually in a different way. Women enjoy sex and men understand it.

be a lot of trouble and heartache to get there.

    Interview with Alice Colvin

What is it that you want,
but cannot have? Authors call this the conflict of the story.
I want to stop wanting Henry and Jay so much. Not the sex – the
sex is great. But it’s all arranged, and I’m supposed to follow the rules Henry
and I agreed to in our D/s contract. Lately, it just hasn’t been enough for me.
I see the way Henry treats Jay and I know it’s something more for them. I’m just
not sure – I mean, maybe I’m ready for that too. But I can’t have it, not if it
means taking something away from Jay.
    What’s your internal limitation?
Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need
    to do during this story?
I need to break things off with Henry and Jay. Or I need to submit
more fully to Henry’s dominance and trust he knows what’s best. It’s hard to know
which is the right choice. If I just had more data sets to work with, or if I knew
the materials – see, metals and plastics are easy. They work in predictable ways.
When I design something at work, I have all of the early tests in front of me, I
know the tolerances, I understand the shapes and how they function. But people?
People are tough. They don’t make sense. Henry and Jay are a happy couple. I don’t
know what I’m doing with them. I don’t know where I fit or what my function is –
or when it’ll come to an end.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
That I’m stealing something that isn’t mine. Our arrangement
is set up so I submit to whatever Henry wants from me every other Friday. It’s just
sex, right? Super-satisfying, okay, and I’m learning things about myself and what
I like that I never would’ve known if I’d turned Henry down, but it’s strictly a
sex thing. Henry tells me I need to be honest with him, that a D/s agreement can’t
function without honesty, but how do I tell him that I have all this emotional junk
in my head when I agreed to the sex-only thing in the first place? Henry and Jay
are my best friends. I won’t ruin their relationship.
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
What, you mean Henry and Jay? They’re the significant people
in my life, and they’re fantastic. Henry makes me forget fears and doubts. When
I hand control over to him, I’m free. And Jay is such a sweetheart. He makes me
laugh when I need it. But you shouldn’t depend on other people to make living worthwhile.
You have to make that happen yourself. People change. They leave. Life is what it
is. You have to be able to go it alone.
    Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?
Yes and no. I learned a hard lesson that I’m still struggling
with. But I’m happy where I am now. I wouldn’t trade what I have for anything. I
just wish I hadn’t gotten what I wanted quite the way I did.

About You: Questions for the writer.

    Playing the Game

    Why do you write?
Characters talk to me. Wherever I am, there’s a story going on
in my head. If I don’t write it down, it just goes ’round and ’round like a song
on repeat. Writing is how I keep insanity at bay.
    What other character from
this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?
Two characters who show up briefly in Crossing the Lines have
been nagging me to tell their stories. They’re each struggling with painful emotions
that weigh them down. Both would like me to write about the happiest times in their
lives. The woman thinks hers are behind her. The man hopes his are ahead of him.
    Are any sequels planned
    for this book?
Yes. Henry, Jay, and Alice weren’t quite done with me yet. Their
story will continue in June with the third book in the Neighborly Affection series,
    Healing the Wounds.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
Thanks so much for inviting Henry, Jay, and Alice into your life!
I love being able to share their stories with you. If you want to tell me how I
did – good or bad – please email me or come visit me on social media. I’m always
    thrilled to chat with readers.

    Interview with Seth James

    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
Uh, hey everyone. I’m Seth James. I live in Austin, TX
in a condo my dad owns and create music with my brother and my band. I’m twenty-four.
I live the color green, and when I’m not banging on my drums, I like to box, wrestle,
and have a cold beer with the guys at the house.
What is it that you want,
but cannot have? Authors call this the conflict of the story.
Err…well, I thought I wanted my music to take off so I could
shove it in my dad’s face and make him acknowledge my success. But then I met Alice. And she ties me in knots.
(He clears his throat) I think I want her, but I don’t need her. And I was doing
good staying away from her, but I found her crying in that stairwell near our apartments
and I can’t seem to shake her from my mind.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
(Seth drops his head. Longish brown waves fall over his forehead
and cover his blue eyes.) I’m afraid I’ll end up like my mom. I don’t want to go
through life thinking I have it all figured out and then bam. Out of nowhere something
comes along and knocks you for a crazy loop.
    What’s your external complication?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you fear most.
Well, I fear that I’m going up against a pretty powerful man.
He could ruin everything for me and Alice. He’s someone that doesn’t have any morals
and sure as hell doesn’t have any qualms about breaking people. (A nerve twitches
    in his jaw.)
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
    Alice?
That girl has me fucking twisted… Oh, I can’t say that here? Sorry. (He shifts
    in his seat.) Alice
is like a breath of fresh air followed by a blast of carbon dioxide. When she’s
high, everyone is flying with her. When she’s low, I’m afraid to leave her alone.
(Seth runs a hand through his hair and blows out through his mouth.) She’s that
dark butterfly, you know? The one that with its wings closed looks like a moth,
no color at all, but then it fans out and it’s a beauty you’ve never witnessed.
    She’s everything.
    What is your family like?
My dad is a good honest man. He works all the time. Never had
much time for us after my mom died. And Gabe, my baby brother, he’s a full job.
I have to keep him out of trouble. He’s a lot like our mom.
    If someone from your past
showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?
(His eyes glass over.) My mom. I think she killed herself because
of me. I’m not sure. But I sure as hell know that I don’t want to find out. Who
could live with that kind of guilt.
    Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?
Hey, I get the girl. Isn’t that the best way to end a story?
I don’t think there was any other way it could have ended. Alice and I were destined.
I’m writing a song about that woman. And someday, I’m going to f—freaking marry
her. (He leans forward.) You thought I was going to say it, huh?

    About the Writer

    You have the length of
a tweet (140 characters) to describe yourself as a writer. Let’s see what you can
    do.
Paranormal Romance first, Series writer, Erotic Romance second,
NA too, Dark and twisted characters, Hot sex scenes, social media friend
    Why did you choose to
    write about this character?
It’s not a secret that rock stars are hot right now. I love RS
novels. I wanted to create a musician that was a little more indie that superstar.
And that’s what I did. Seth is a songwriter, a musician, and just the right balance
of good guy and bad boy for Alice.
    Was there anything you
discovered about this character that was a surprise to you?
I wrote half of Drowning, and then realized I hated Seth. So
I played with him in character sketches before I found that his backstory wasn’t
    as dark as Alice’s.
So I really tore up his childhood. Once I brought out his painful past, he bled
    onto the paper.
    Why do you write?
I write because I have a lot of sorrow in my soul. I think there
are many others out there like me and I want to reach them. I want to find the people
with a past that’s a little messed up and show them that happy endings aren’t just
    a fairytale.

    Dancing in the White Room

    About the Book

Title: Dancing in the White Room
    Genre: Contemporary women’s fiction
    Author: Ute Carbone
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
Dancing in the white room is slang for skiing or boarding in
deep powder snow. The dancer is PD Bell, one of the best extreme skiers on the planet.
Mallory Prescott, the woman who lives with him and loves him, is used to Bell’s exploits. A patrol
woman at Whiteface Mountain near Lake
    Placid, New York, Mallory
is no stranger to risk. But this time Bell is taking
on the West Rib of Denali, highest and most dangerous mountain in North America. It’s a descent that has never been done, though
it’s been tried. Five years ago, Bell
had tried it. The attempt nearly killed him. Five years ago, he promised Mallory
    he wouldn’t try it again.
Over the six weeks in which he’s gone, Mallory begins to question
    her relationship with Bell.
Does he really love her? Is he in it for the duration? What has loving him cost
her? Mallory’s life choices are thrown into stark relief when her daughter Emily
takes a terrible fall. Together with her life-long friend Creech Creches, she must
work her way through a maze of uncharted territory at a hospital miles from home.
Dancing in the White Room is the story of the love we keep,
the price we pay for that love, and the forgiveness it takes to hold on to what
    is precious.

    Interview with P.D. Bell

    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
I’m a skier, what some would call an extreme skier. There’s been
plenty written about me already, about my background growing up in a cabin with
my grandfather, about how many metals I won at the X-games, about how many movie
spots I’ve done. The truth is, I’m a lot more than that. I love to ski, true. I
can’t imagine life without it. But I also love my life, my daughter Emily, and my
    girlfriend Mallory.
What is it that you want,
but cannot have? Authors call this the conflict of the story.
I want the West Rib. It’s a tough decent, on the West side of
Denali, that no skier has ever been able to conquer.
I plan on being the first. I’ve tried it before, and it got the best of me. I failed
and I don’t like failure. I want to win this one.
    What’s your internal limitation?
Meaning, what is it about you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need
    to do during this story?
    Denali is intimidating. I’ve
skied it before. I’ve done the West Rib before, too. Most people, they’d say I’m
fearless, but that’s not true. You’d have to be insane not to feel some fear when
facing down this slope. It isn’t fearlessness, but swallowing down those feelings
that makes it work. That’s the thing, you conquer those fears and what’s left is
something so totally awesome you can’t put words to it.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
The thought of what happened last time I tried. I landed in the
hospital and it could have been worse–I could have gone over the precipice. But
    I don’t dwell there, I can’t and won’t dwell there.
    What’s your external complication?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you fear most.
Well, besides the mountain there’s Mallory. I know how she feels
about my going to Denali again. She’s made it clear
she hates the idea. Losing her is the worst thing that could happen to me.
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
Mallory. I don’t know where to begin. She’s kind of perfect.
Not just physically, I mean, yeah, she’s perfect physically speaking. But she’s
so strong and smart and capable. I could never imagine being with anyone else.
    What would that person
    say about you?
Right now? She’d probably say I’m a jerk for taking up this challenge.
She’d call me stubborn and possessed. She might not be wrong about that. But then,
I think, deep down inside, she really does love me for who I am.
    What is your family like?
Mallory and Em are my family. Then there’s my grandfather, Danny,
who’s tough as leather, but also the best man I know. My mom died when I was a kid
and he raised me. I never knew my father, or even who my father was. It doesn’t
matter, though. You make your own family. And I try to be the best father to my
little girl that I can possibly be.
    What special skills do
    you rely on?
Well, I guess my skills at skiing. I am pretty good at it. I
also like to build things. I built the cabin Mallo and I live in with Em. And a
lot of the furniture in the place. I love making furniture, it relaxes me.
    If someone from your past
showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?
I don’t know. I guess my father, because then I’d have to know
why he never claimed me as his kid. Though, really, he might have never even known
    about me.
    Are you happy with the
way your story ended? Why or why not?
Yes. I think I’ve finally figured out what’s important. And I
told Mallory I loved her–I’m not big on words, but I think she needed to hear how
    important she is to me.

    About the Writer

    You have the length of
a tweet (140 characters) to describe yourself as a writer. Let’s see what you can
    do.
    Have pen. Will write.
    Why did you choose to
    write about this character?
Extreme skiers, or people who do things that are what most of
us would consider a little crazy, fascinate me. I love Bell, because it turns out he’s more than just
    skiing.
    Was there anything you
discovered about this character that was a surprise to you?
How much he cares about Mallory. Early on, I figured him for
a guy who is a bit easy come, easy go when it comes to relationships. And that isn’t
    true.
    When you wrote about this
character, what made you the most happy? What made you the most sad?
Well, the story is told from Mallory’s point of view, so we see
    Bell through her
    eyes. The best of Bell
was how he reacted when she finally told him she was pregnant–the pregnancy was
an accident–he goes to their extra room and says, ‘we’ll paint it yellow.”
There’s no fuss, just this quiet acceptance that says, of course I’ll be there,
we’ll do this together. He also makes furniture, and he surprised Mallory with a
headboard for their bed, which was sweet.
Sad was how driven he is to do the dangerous things he does.
He is almost compelled to do them–and it seems as though he doesn’t take Mallory
or Emily into account when making those decisions.
    Why do you write?
I wish I could answer that question. I think I just love telling
stories. And that, by living with the characters, I get to live all kinds of interesting
lives–as a professional skier in this case.
What do you want to write
    next?
I have way, way too many ideas and partially finished things
in my WIP folder. Right now, I’m writing a part four for Anton and Lenora, a series
of historical novellas. Talk about other lives, this one lets me sail to China in the 19th
century. I also have another historical-set in Colorado
in the 1890’s, and a romantic comedy about a daytime TV star in New York. And I’d love to
write another ski story–this one featuring Creech, who is Mallory’s best friend
    and ex-boyfriend in Dancing.
    What other character from
this book do you want to write about? Care to tell us why?
As I said, I’d love to write a story about Creech. He’s a ski
racing coach, which is kind of fascinating, and he needs a love interest. I have
some ideas and I think I might sit down and do this book in the near future.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing
    them.
