Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings, professor of women’s studies at a small New Jersey college, is a woman who confidently knows who she is and what she expects of life. Until she loses her teaching position, and her well-ordered life gets turned upside down. Then, in a subtle stroke of whimsy, fate tosses her a gift in an historic home and property in Virginia.

Harboring visions of Gone with the Wind, she determines to use River Peace as a temporary reprieve from her troubles. However, images of Tara quickly evaporate when she arrives to discover the reality of her inheritance.

River Peace has history, grace and style going for it. After only one night, Margaret discovers that it also has a ghost. She’s visited by a male spirit from the time of the War Between the States, who knows how to make a woman feel special. And very loved.

Aaron Belton meets Margaret when she first arrives in Virginia. He’s renowned for historic renovations on a multitude of properties, but he’s got a special place in his heart for River Peace. He and his family believe the property always should have belonged to them. In fact, Aaron will do almost anything to make that happen. When his passion for the house changes to a passion for the house’s owner, Aaron’s as surprised as anyone. Can he gain both, the woman and the house? To do so, he’ll have to face a spectral being.

And his own destiny.

What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?

For this, I have to admit to loving food. I’m not one of those people who eat to live, I enjoy a good meal. My family and (lucky me!) hubby’s family always thought a meal was the way to entertain others and to celebrate being together. So you see why it’s hard to choose my favorite meal. My dad used to grill fish on an outdoor hibachi and make hush puppies. We’d pile up our paper plates and eat with our fingers on the screened-in porch (Virginia + mosquitoes = UGH!). My mother-in-law fried the best chicken and we’d eat in the dining room wearing our Sunday best clothes with her wedding crystal and china and sterling silverware. But (and now I’m getting to it) I think my favorite down-home meal is grilled (or even fried) pork chops, with sweet potatoes and cheesy broccoli. Yum!

What is your go-to meal when you dine out?

Cheeseburgers. It has always been so. When I was little, a friend of my grandmothers took us to Delmonico’s in San Francisco. I asked for a cheeseburger. My grandmother was appalled, and her friend just laughed. (I got a cheeseburger.) Nowadays, I might jack it up a bit with mushrooms and Swiss or with bacon, but even without all the extras, my choice is the same.

Who is your “book boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?

Jamie Fraser from Outlander. Is there another man who could pull you through time? I don’t think so.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

I had a stuffed monkey as a young child. It had plastic face and a strap of elastic on its head that I used to bounce it over and over. And over. I dragged the darn thing everywhere I went. I’m sure Mom was sick of it by the time I outgrew it, but when we went through her things last year when she died, that stupid monkey was tucked away safely with her belongings.

When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?

I will read most anything. I love courtroom dramas and thrillers. Romantic suspense is great. This will make me sound shallow, but I don’t often read non-fiction, though what I do read of it I’ve really liked. Usually historical or something about exploring. But the most I read is romance, of one form or another.

A few years ago, Dee S Knight began writing, making getting up in the morning fun. During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex.
After a while, Dee split her personality into thirds. She writes as Anne Krist for sweeter romances, and Jenna Stewart for ménage and shifter stories. All three of her personas are found on the Nomad Authors website. And all three offer some of the best romance you can find! It was. Mom told me a couple of years ago that there two things she wanted me to have: one was a picture (very small) of a child and dog looking into a pond and the other was a little ceramic statue of a sailor. I remember both from childhood. My aunt found the picture months later but we never found the little sailor. Memories everywhere.

Thanks so much for hosting me today!
