She has no formal occupation.William “Lazarus” Prescott is 28 years of age. He leads a band of
thieves.Interview
Tell us about your story’s world. What is it like in this
period or place? An Unexpected Gift takes place in London during the Regency period. It shows a side
of life in London
outside those of the aristocracy. Both Olivia and Lazarus live on the very fringes
of Society. What inspired you to write this book?I was asked to write a novella for my publisher’s Love Letters
line. In writing that story, Lazarus appeared on the page larger than life. I had
a hard time controlling him and keeping him from taking over the story. It only
made sense that I tell his story as well.Which character in your current book do you think readers
will like the most? Why?I think Lazarus would the favorite. While he does things that
aren’t necessarily legal and right, he does them with the best of intentions. He
goes out of his way to protect those he considers his family and is loyal to a fault. When you’re not writing, what would we find you doing?I love to bake bread. I find the whole process of kneading the
dough to be very relaxing. It’s also a great way to work out scene in my head while
doing something constructive. Of course, the smell of freshly baked bread filling
the house isn’t a bad thing either. Are you a plotter, or do you prefer to make it up on the spur
of the moment?I say I’m a combination of both. I write two to three sentence
paragraphs detailing the main points of each chapter, but other than that, I let
my characters have free reign and write where they take me.What’s your writing schedule like?I write Monday through Friday for approximately an hour and half
when I get home from my day job. I have a weekly goal of twenty-five pages of new
material each week. It helps keep me on track and not lose the threads of the story. When an idea hits you, what do you do to capture it?I have a notebook where I jot down the idea, character names,
plot points, any scenes or snippets of dialogue and anything else that comes to
me. If I’m out, I have a small pocket sized notebook I keep in my purse for the
same thing, though I have been known to write on the paper napkins when at a restaurant.Which of your books was the hardest to write and why?My novella The Muse was the hardest to write. It was the first
short story I’d written and I had a hard time keeping it within the word count requirements
to be a novella. I kept having to go back and delete subplots and the like. What are you currently reading for fun? Anything for research?I’m currently reading Fifth Grave Past The Light by Darynda Jones.
It’s the fifth book in her Charley Davidson series. If you haven’t read any of them
yet, I highly recommend them, but read them in order. For research purposes, I’m
reading The Man Who Broke Napoleon’s Codes: The True Story of A Forgotten Hero in
Wellington’s Army
by Mark Urban.Do you believe in luck?I do believe in luck but at the same time, I think we make our
own luck by taking advantage of opportunities presented to us.What kind of music do you listen to while driving? Same question
when writing? When I’m in the car, I usually listen to whatever’s currently
popular on the radio station. When I’m writing, I listen to classical music.Do you play any musical instruments?I play the violin and a tiny bit of the piano. I would like to
take formal piano lessons some day. What’s your favorite movie?I have two favorite movies – Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and
I Am Sam. Sean Penn was amazing. Please complete the sentence
I love pizza with cheese and pepperoni.I’m always ready for a cup of cinnamon apple tea and a good
book. When I’m alone, I read my manuscript pages out loud. I like
to hear the rhythm of the dialogue. You’d never be able to tell, but I have five tattoos. If I had a halo it would be slightly
tilted. If I could write full time, I’d be the happiest person
on the planet.I can never kill a spider because I’m terrified of
them. I don’t have any problem getting other people to kill them for me though.Previous Books

The Blind Date Delaney Diamond, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. Let’s talk
about your book, The Blind Date.Genre: Contemporary romancePublisher: Delaney DiamondCover artist: bookcoversale.comLength: 38,000 wordsHeat rating: PG-13Tagline: One night changes everything…again.Blurb:Years ago, when Ryan Stewart saw Shawna Ferguson, it was love
at first sight. Unfortunately, he wasn’t a free man, and his deception caused him
to lose her after a weekend that changed his life. When Shawna’s sister and brother-in-law set her up on a blind
date, she has no idea it’s with Ryan, with whom she’d spent a weekend she wishes
she could forget. She reluctantly agrees to finish the date with him, but doing
so leaves her vulnerable to his charms and the heat he ignited in her that very
first night.Buy links:What are your main characters’ names, ages, and occupations?Ryan Stewart, 30, custom furniture makerShawn Ferguson, 28, clothing boutique ownerInterview
What websites do you visit daily? Most weekends I take a break from Facebook and Twitter, but I
visit them the most during the week. I also like to visit blogs that provide industry
news, but not necessarily every day. I visit those blogs a few times per week and
catch up all at once.If you could give the younger version of yourself advice what
would it be?You’re going to discover that you love writing fiction, so start
practicing now.How do you cope with stress as an author?Whenever I feel overwhelmed by the marketing, writing, staying
up to date on what’s going on in the industry, etc., I get offline. That’s usually
a good indication that I’m spending too much time alone, so I spend time with family
and friends. I love technology, but it drives me crazy sometimes. There’s so much
information available through social media, blogs, etc., and it’s easy to feel as
if you don’t want to miss anything. But I find it helps me to unplug from time to
time so I don’t get overwhelmed.Do things your family or friends do ever end up in a book?I plead the fifth. Lol. No really, not very much. Things my niece
does have ended up in my books because she’s so comical. In my book Second Chances,
I had one of the children, Lucélia, running around with a yucca fry offering bites
to family members but then pulling it back when they tried to get a piece. My niece
used to do that with French fries. I thought it was cute, so I included it.What are some jobs you’ve done before (or while) you were
a writer?I worked in international trade for a spell. When I worked in
international trade, my area was Western Europe,
so I got some nice all expenses paid trips abroad. The job only lasted a few years,
but it was nice. When I have to pay for my own trips, I really miss it. Sigh. I
also managed a bookstore. What kind of books do you read when taking a break from your
own writing?I read romance, mostly contemporary and historical. I also love
to read thrillers because of the fast, heart-pounding pace that keeps me on the
edge of my seat. What good book have you read recently?I read Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas a few months ago,
and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s a historical romance and it renewed
my interest in Regency romance. Here’s a quote from my review on GoodReads: “I
couldn’t put the book down, even though it hurt me to see these two characters inflicting
such pain on each other. And that’s actually why I couldn’t put it down, because
I needed to see them get their HEA after making my heart hurt so much.”If your life became a movie, who would you want to play you?Sanaa Lathan or Gabrielle Union. I love those ladies! If you were a color, what color would you be?Yellow. It’s my favorite color.About the Author

are your main characters’ names, ages, and occupations?Anne
Marie is a divorced legal secretary in her mid-thirties and her cousin Rita is married lawyer also in her thirties.Interview
How did you get your start in the industry?Six
years ago I turned 40. After I drowned my sorrows with champagne and chocolate, I made a list of all the things I wanted to do before I die. Morbid, I know, but number one on that list was write a novel. I said to myself, yeah, I’ve really got to do that, and continued to munch on the Cadbury’s chocolate that Dear Husband thoughtfully supplied. Two
years went by. I didn’t lose the day job, no mean feat given that the debacle that was 2008. I continued indulging my interest in (some may say obsession with) reality TV. Not a word was written. Then
on a Sunday afternoon while Dear Husband was taking a nap, I came up with a name: Kate Ryan. Before I knew it Kate had a husband, family, friends and one big problem — she and her husband had lost their high powered jobs and their savings. Her husband loses his mind and high tails it to Australia. Kate loses her mind and joins the cast of a local cable channel’s reality TV show.I had a blast writing GOLD COAST WIVES! I wrote what I wanted how I wanted. Then reality sank in. I joined a local writing group, figured out that I made about 100 basic writing mistakes, rewrote it, rewrote it again, entered it into various RWA chapter contests, wrote it again and after two years submitted it to some publishers. In December 2010 I got the best Christmas present ever when Lyrical Press offered me a contract! What websites do you visit daily?Goodreads; Television Without Pity; Yahoonews; and FacebookIf you could change something about your first book, what would it be?As a nice Catholic girl I had the hardest time writing any type of sex scene and in my first book, GOLD COAST WIVES, the sex scenes were beyond vanilla. That book is a light, fun, fluffy humorous romance so I think I got away with it. However, I decided after that I needed to get over my little problem if I wanted to be a successful romance writer. I think downloaded ten of the filthiest –OK, I know as a romance writer we’re not supposed to refer to spicy romance as filth, but I have to be honest, these were filthy and would put FIFTY SHADES OF GREY to shame. After my dirty book reading binge I was able to write sex scenes without blushing and even began to have fun with them. Each book in my paranormal romance series, the Devlin Legacy, got hotter and hotter and hotter! If you could give the younger version of yourself advice what would it be?RELAX!!!! I was a type A overachiever and if I could give myself any advice it would be spend more time having fun and less time in the library. How do you cope with stress as an author?I have enough stress at my day job. I write romance ultimately because I love it. Because it’s fun! I refuse to complain about something that has been such joy into my life. So I guess I deal with writer stress by denying it exists :)What are some jobs you‘ve done before (or while) you were a writer?A very bad waitress and hopefully a better lawyer.Imagine you get to go on a dream vacation, but you have only one hour to pack and leave, and it starts as soon as you finish this interview. What will you take with you and where will you go?Sunscreen, my kindle, a pair of sneakers, my husband, and more sunscreen.Where were you at midnight, on December 31st when the new century started?Drinking in a dive bar with my fiancé (now husband). What do you like to do when you‘re bored?Helloooo?? Working mom here. I haven’t been bored in years–but I’m looking forward to it.Please underline which statement is more like you:“I am a vacation spa because I am laid back and relaxed.”“I am a ten-countries in ten-days tour vacation, because I do things as fast as possible.“Please complete the sentences

Historical: Little Witch (Evolution Series) | Interview @jillhughey #RLFblog
Little Witch Jill Hughey, welcome to Romance Lives Forever.
Let’s talk about your book, Little Witch: Historical Romance Novella, the fifth
installment in your Evolution Series.Genre: Historical RomancePublisher: self-publishedCover artist: Rae MonetLength: 49,000 wordsHeat rating: Warm/SensualTagline: The night is
dark. The moon is bright. She brings his heart into her light.Blurb:A vicious neighbor uses a series of coincidences to label Salena
as the local moon-charmer, making her an outcast in rural Francia. When Salena encounters
her brother’s childhood friend, Nox, out on business for the Lord of Ribeauville,
she fears he will accept the locals’ tales about her, especially since they relate
to the death of his family a decade before. He is, instead, as charmed by her as
she is by him.Nox’s sympathy for Salena evolves into affection in spite of
his strict rule against close ties with people. Afraid to risk another loss like
that of his youth, he abruptly ends their relationship, unaware that Salena has
already been downtrodden by her father denying her request to venture farther out
into the world.A threat to Salena’s family prompts her to run away in the hopes
of protecting those she loves while forging a new path for her life. Too late, Nox
discovers that she has also run away with his scarred heart.Buy links:What are your main characters’ names, ages, and
occupations?Salena is 22 years old. She is the daughter of
a tenant farmer in the year 848, so her main occupation is helping her family survive
by growing and gathering food and supplies, but she longs to get out into the world.Nox is 24 years old. He has worked for the Lord
of Ribeauville since he was orphaned at age14, and has been promoted from stableboy
to the lord’s representative with the tenants and landowners in his domain.InterviewWhat websites do you visit daily?I visit Kindle Direct Publishing, Facebook, and
Tweetdeck every day.If you could choose anyone to be your mentor
who would it be?Mary Balogh. I enjoy her books immensely and,
based on her Facebook posts, she seems like a friendly, genuine lady.If you could give the younger version of yourself
advice what would it be?Start writing romance right after graduating
from college. I never considered writing as a career choice back then and now I
wonder why? What is your work ethic when it comes to writing?I’m a pretty good self-starter. Any daylight
hours that I am not at my part-time job, or running kids around, I am working as
an author, one way or another. I used to do social media tasks at night, but I found
I wasn’t sleeping very well, so I’ve given myself permission to relax at least part
of the evening.Do things your family or friends do ever end
up in a book?Of course! In Little Witch, I especially enjoyed writing the sibling relationship
between Salena and her older brother, Grant. We’ve all experienced or observed the
younger child struggling to assert herself against the older, “wiser”
one. What kind of books do you read when taking a
break from your own writing?I read mainly historical romance. Surprisingly,
I’ve recently been enjoying a paranormal contemporary series too, which is a real
shocker to me!Imagine you get to go on a dream vacation, but
you have only one hour to pack and leave, and it starts as soon as you finish this
interview. What will you take with you and where will you go?It would be a hard choice between Australia and Hawaii,
but I’ll say Australia.
I’d take hiking clothes, beachwear, sunglasses, my laptop and my ereader, and hopefully
it would be a trip for two so I could bring my hubbie! What is your favorite holiday and why?Christmas, because I love Christmas music and
all the traditions that surround the holiday, though I must say it requires more
work as the mom than it ever did as a kid. What good book have you read recently?“First Grave on the Right” by Darynda
Jones starts the series I referred to in the earlier question. Really, really awesome
concept and fun characters. I am not normally a fan of contemporary or paranormal
romances, but she grabbed me with this one. Please underline which statement is more
